¹Now all the publicans and sinners were drawing near unto him to hear him.

²And both the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

³And he spake unto them this parable, saying,

³Kaj li parolis al ili la jenan parabolon, dirante:

⁴What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

⁴Kiu el vi, havante cent sxafojn kaj perdinte unu el ili, ne forlasas la nauxdek naux sur la stepo, kaj iras, por sercxi tiun, kiun li perdis, gxis li gxin trovos?

⁵And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

⁵Kaj trovinte, li gxin metas sur siajn sxultrojn, gxojante.

⁶And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and his neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.

⁶Kaj reveninte domen, li kunvokas siajn amikojn kaj siajn najbarojn, dirante al ili:GXoju kun mi, cxar mi trovis mian sxafon, la perditan.

⁷I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, [more] than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.

⁷Mi diras al vi, ke tiel same estos gxojo en la cxielo pro unu pekulo, kiu pentas, pli ol pro nauxdek naux justuloj, kiuj ne bezonas penton.

⁸Or what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she find it?

⁸Kiu virino, havante dek drahxmojn, se sxi perdis unu drahxmon, ne ekbruligas lampon kaj balaas la domon kaj sercxas diligente, gxis sxi gxin trovos?

⁹And when she hath found it, she calleth together her friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost.

⁹Kaj trovinte, sxi kunvokas siajn amikinojn kaj siajn najbarinojn, dirante:GXoju kun mi, cxar mi trovis la drahxmon, kiun mi perdis.

¹⁰Even so, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

¹⁰Tiel same, mi diras al vi, estas gxojo antaux la angxeloj de Dio pro unu pekulo, kiu pentas.

¹¹And he said, A certain man had two sons:

¹¹Kaj li diris:Unu viro havis du filojn;

¹²and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of [thy] substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

¹²kaj la pli juna diris al sia patro:Patro, donu al mi la heredotan parton de la havo. Kaj li dividis inter ili siajn vivrimedojn.

¹³And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country; and there he wasted his substance with riotous living.

¹³Kaj post ne multaj tagoj la pli juna, kolektinte cxion, forvojagxis al malproksima lando; kaj tie li disperdis sian havon per dibocxa vivado.

¹⁴And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that country; and he began to be in want.

¹⁴Kaj kiam li jam elspezis cxion, forta malsato okazis en tiu lando, kaj li komencis havi mankon.

¹⁵And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

¹⁵Kaj li iris, kaj aligxis al unu el la logxantoj de tiu lando; kaj cxi tiu lin sendis sur siajn kampojn, por pasxti porkojn.

¹⁶And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

¹⁶Kaj li deziris plenigi sian ventron per la karoboj, kiujn la porkoj mangxis; kaj neniu donis al li.

¹⁷But when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger!

¹⁷Sed reveninte al si, li diris:Kiom da dungitoj de mia patro havas panon abunde, sed mi cxi tie pereas de malsato!

¹⁸I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight:

¹⁸Mi levigxos, kaj iros al mia patro, kaj mi diros al li:Patro, mi pekis kontraux la cxielo kaj antaux vi;

¹⁹I am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

¹⁹mi jam ne meritas esti nomata via filo; faru min kiel unu el viaj dungitoj.

²⁰And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

²⁰Kaj li levigxis, kaj iris al sia patro. Sed kiam li estis ankoraux malproksime, lia patro lin vidis kaj kortusxigxis, kaj kurinte, falis sur lian kolon kaj lin kisadis.

²¹And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: I am no more worthy to be called thy son.

²¹Kaj la filo diris al li:Patro, mi pekis kontraux la cxielo kaj antaux vi, kaj mi jam ne meritas esti nomata via filo.

²²But the father said to his servants, Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

²²Kaj diris la patro al siaj servistoj:Alportu rapide la cxefan robon, kaj lin vestu, kaj metu ringon sur lian manon kaj sxuojn sur liajn piedojn;

²³and bring the fatted calf, [and] kill it, and let us eat, and make merry:

²³kaj alportu la grasigitan bovidon kaj bucxu gxin, kaj ni mangxu kaj estu gajaj;

²⁴for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

²⁴cxar cxi tiu mia filo estis mortinta, kaj denove vivas; li estis perdita, kaj estas trovita. Kaj ili komencis esti gajaj.

²⁵Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

²⁵Sed la pli maljuna filo estis sur la kampo; kaj kiam li venis kaj alproksimigxis al la domo, li auxdis muzikon kaj dancadon.

²⁶And he called to him one of the servants, and inquired what these things might be.

²⁶Kaj li alvokis unu el la knaboj, kaj demandis lin, kio estas tio.

²⁷And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

²⁷Kaj li diris al li:Via frato venis, kaj via patro bucxis la grasigitan bovidon, cxar li ricevis lin sana.

²⁸But he was angry, and would not go in: and his father came out, and entreated him.

²⁸Sed li koleris, kaj ne volis eniri; kaj lia patro elvenis, kaj lin petegis.

²⁹But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and [yet] thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

²⁹Sed li responde diris al sia patro:Jen tiom da jaroj mi servas al vi, kaj neniam mi malobeis vian ordonon, tamen vi neniam donis al mi kapridon, por ke mi estu gaja kun miaj amikoj;

³⁰but when this thy son came, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.

³⁰sed kiam venis cxi tiu via filo, kiu formangxis vian havon kun malcxastistinoj, vi bucxis por li la grasigitan bovidon.

³¹And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine.

³¹Kaj li diris al li:Filo, vi estas cxiam kun mi, kaj cxio mia estas via.

³²But it was meet to make merry and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive [again]; and [was] lost, and is found.

³²Sed konvenis esti gajaj kaj gxoji; cxar cxi tiu via frato estis mortinta, kaj denove vivas; li estis perdita, kaj estas trovita.
