¹Let a man so account of us, as of ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

¹Nõnda siis peetagu meid Kristuse sulaseiks ja Jumala saladuste majapidajaiks.

²Here, moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

²Ent majapidajailt nõutakse, et nad oleksid ustavad.

³But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

³Aga see on mulle tähtsusetu, kui teie mõistate minu üle kohut või teeb seda mõni inimlik kohtupäev, ka ma ise ei mõista enda üle kohut,

⁴For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

⁴sest ma ei tea enesel olevat ühtegi süüd. Kuid selle põhjal ei ole ma veel õigeks mõistetud, sest Issand on see, kes minu üle kohut mõistab.

⁵Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.

⁵Nõnda siis ärge mõistke kohut enne õiget aega, enne kui tuleb Issand, kes toob valguse ette pimedusse varjunud asjad ning teeb avalikuks inimsüdamete kavatsused; ja siis saab igaüks kiituse Jumalalt.

⁶Now these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes; that in us ye might learn not [to go] beyond the things which are written; that no one of you be puffed up for the one against the other.

⁶Aga neid sõnu, vennad, olen ma tarvitanud enese ja Apollose kohta teie pärast, et te võiksite meilt õppida - mitte üle selle, mis on kirjutatud -, et te omavahel ei hoopleks ühe ega teise vastu.

⁷For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? but if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it?

⁷Sest mis sind siis esile tõstab? Mis sul on, mida sa ei oleks saanud? Aga kui sa selle oled saanud, mis sa siis kiitled, otsekui sa ei oleks seda saanud?

⁸Already are ye filled, already ye are become rich, ye have come to reign without us: yea and I would that ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

⁸Juba te olete küllalt söönud, juba te olete rikkaks läinud, juba te valitsete ilma meieta kuningatena! Jah, kui te tõesti oleksite juba kuningad, siis oleksime ka meie koos teiega kuningad!

⁹For, I think, God hath set forth us the apostles last of all, as men doomed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, both to angels and men.

⁹Mulle tundub, et Jumal on meid, apostleid, pannud kõige viimasele kohale nagu surmamõistetuid areenil kogu maailmale vaadata, nii inglitele kui inimestele.

¹⁰We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye have glory, but we have dishonor.

¹⁰Meie oleme Kristuse pärast arutud, aga teie olete arukad Kristuses; meie oleme nõrgad, aga teie olete tugevad; teie olete aulised, aga meie oleme autud.

¹¹Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place;

¹¹Praeguse tunnini me kannatame nälga ja janu, ja oleme paljad, ja meid pekstakse rusikatega, ja meil ei ole kusagil asu.

¹²and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;

¹²Ning me näeme vaeva oma kätega tööd tehes. Kui meid sõimatakse, siis me õnnistame, kui meid taga kiusatakse, siis me kannatame ära,

¹³being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.

¹³kui meid halvustatakse, siis me räägime lahkesti. Me oleme nagu maailma kõntsaks saanud, kõigi jätiseks tänini.

¹⁴I write not these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

¹⁴Ma ei kirjuta seda teie häbistamiseks, vaid et teid manitseda nagu oma armsaid lapsi.

¹⁵For though ye have ten thousand tutors in Christ, yet [have ye] not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I begat you through the gospel.

¹⁵Sest kui teil oleks ka kümme tuhat kasvatajat Kristuses, ometi ei ole teil mitut isa - evangeeliumi kaudu olen mina teid sünnitanud Jeesuses Kristuses.

¹⁶I beseech you therefore, be ye imitators of me.

¹⁶Sellepärast ma kutsun teid üles: võtke mind eeskujuks!

¹⁷For this cause have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who shall put you in remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every church.

¹⁷Just seepärast ma saatsin teile Timoteose, kes on mu armas ja ustav laps Issandas, et ta tuletaks teile meelde minu teeradu Kristuses Jeesuses, nõnda nagu ma õpetan kõikjal igas koguduses.

¹⁸Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.

¹⁸Mõned on saanud suureliseks, nagu ma ei tulekski enam teie juurde.

¹⁹But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will; and I will know, not the word of them that are puffed up, but the power.

¹⁹Aga ma tulen varsti teie juurde, kui Issand tahab, ja siis ma saan selguse mitte suurustlejate sõnade, vaid väe kohta.

²⁰For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

²⁰Sest Jumala riik ei ole ju sõnades, vaid väes.

²¹What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?

²¹Mida te tahate: kas ma pean teie juurde tulema vitsaga või armastuse ja malbusega?
