²We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention [of you] in our prayers;

³remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

³meelde tuletades teie teokat usku ja töökat armastust ning vastupidavat lootust meie Issanda Jeesuse Kristuse peale Jumala ja meie Isa palge ees.

⁴knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election,

⁴Me teame, et teie, Jumalale armsad vennad, olete valitud,

⁵how that our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and [in] much assurance; even as ye know what manner of men we showed ourselves toward you for your sake.

⁵sest meie evangeelium ei ole teie juurde tulnud palja sõnana, vaid ka väes ja Pühas Vaimus ning täieliku veendumusega. Te ju teate ise, missugused me olime teie juures teie heaks.

⁶And ye became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit;

⁶Ja te võtsite eeskujuks meid ning Issandat, kui te rohkest viletsusest hoolimata sõna vastu võtsite Püha Vaimu rõõmuga,

⁷so that ye became an ensample to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.

⁷nii et te olete saanud eeskujuks kõigile usklikele Makedoonias ja Ahhaias.

⁸For from you hath sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith to God-ward is gone forth; so that we need not to speak anything.

⁸Sest teie juurest on Issanda sõna kostnud mitte üksnes Makedooniasse ja Ahhaiasse, vaid kõikidesse paikadesse on levinud teated teie usust Jumalasse, nii et meil pole vaja enam midagi rääkida.

⁹For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how ye turned unto God from idols, to serve a living and true God,

⁹Nad ju ise teatavad, kuidas te meid vastu võtsite ning kuidas te olete ebajumalaist pöördunud Jumala poole, teenima elavat ja tõelist Jumalat

¹⁰and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, who delivereth us from the wrath to come.

¹⁰ning ootama taevast tema Poega Jeesust, kelle ta on surnuist üles äratanud ja kes meid tõmbab välja tulevasest vihast.
