1Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
1Tout Israël s'assembla auprès de David à Hébron, en disant: Voici, nous sommes tes os et ta chair.
1ויקבצו כל ישראל אל דויד חברונה לאמר הנה עצמך ובשרך אנחנו׃
2In times past, even when Saul was king, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and Jehovah thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt be shepherd of my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over my people Israel.
2Autrefois déjà, même lorsque Saül était roi, c'était toi qui conduisais et qui ramenais Israël. L'Eternel, ton Dieu, t'a dit: Tu paîtras mon peuple d'Israël, et tu seras le chef de mon peuple d'Israël.
2גם תמול גם שלשום גם בהיות שאול מלך אתה המוציא והמביא את ישראל ויאמר יהוה אלהיך לך אתה תרעה את עמי את ישראל ואתה תהיה נגיד על עמי ישראל׃
3So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of Jehovah by Samuel.
3Ainsi tous les anciens d'Israël vinrent auprès du roi à Hébron, et David fit alliance avec eux à Hébron, devant l'Eternel. Ils oignirent David pour roi sur Israël, selon la parole de l'Eternel, prononcée par Samuel.
3ויבאו כל זקני ישראל אל המלך חברונה ויכרת להם דויד ברית בחברון לפני יהוה וימשחו את דויד למלך על ישראל כדבר יהוה ביד שמואל׃
4And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (the same is Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.
4David marcha avec tout Israël sur Jérusalem, qui est Jebus. Là étaient les Jébusiens, habitants du pays.
4וילך דויד וכל ישראל ירושלם היא יבוס ושם היבוסי ישבי הארץ׃
5And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come in hither. Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion; the same is the city of David.
5Les habitants de Jebus dirent à David: Tu n'entreras point ici. Mais David s'empara de la forteresse de Sion: c'est la cité de David.
5ויאמרו ישבי יבוס לדויד לא תבוא הנה וילכד דויד את מצדת ציון היא עיר דויד׃
6And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.
6David avait dit: Quiconque battra le premier les Jébusiens sera chef et prince. Joab, fils de Tseruja, monta le premier, et il devint chef.
6ויאמר דויד כל מכה יבוסי בראשונה יהיה לראש ולשר ויעל בראשונה יואב בן צרויה ויהי לראש׃
7And David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David.
7David s'établit dans la forteresse; c'est pourquoi on l'appela cité de David.
7וישב דויד במצד על כן קראו לו עיר דויד׃
8And he built the city round about, from Millo even round about; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
8Il fit tout autour de la ville des constructions, depuis Millo et aux environs; et Joab répara le reste de la ville.
8ויבן העיר מסביב מן המלוא ועד הסביב ויואב יחיה את שאר העיר׃
9And David waxed greater and greater; for Jehovah of hosts was with him.
9David devenait de plus en plus grand, et l'Eternel des armées était avec lui.
9וילך דויד הלוך וגדול ויהוה צבאות עמו׃
10Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of Jehovah concerning Israel.
10Voici les chefs des vaillants hommes qui étaient au service de David, et qui l'aidèrent avec tout Israël à assurer sa domination, afin de l'établir roi, selon la parole de l'Eternel au sujet d'Israël.
10ואלה ראשי הגבורים אשר לדויד המתחזקים עמו במלכותו עם כל ישראל להמליכו כדבר יהוה על ישראל׃
11And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them at one time.
11Voici, d'après leur nombre, les vaillants hommes qui étaient au service de David. Jaschobeam, fils de Hacmoni, l'un des principaux officiers. Il brandit sa lance sur trois cents hommes, qu'il fit périr en une seule fois.
11ואלה מספר הגברים אשר לדויד ישבעם בן חכמוני ראש השלושים הוא עורר את חניתו על שלש מאות חלל בפעם אחת׃
12And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.
12Après lui, Eléazar, fils de Dodo, l'Achochite, l'un des trois guerriers.
12ואחריו אלעזר בן דודו האחוחי הוא בשלושה הגברים׃
13He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
13Il était avec David à Pas-Dammim, où les Philistins s'étaient rassemblés pour combattre. Il y avait là une pièce de terre remplie d'orge; et le peuple fuyait devant les Philistins.
13הוא היה עם דויד בפס דמים והפלשתים נאספו שם למלחמה ותהי חלקת השדה מלאה שעורים והעם נסו מפני פלשתים׃
14And they stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and Jehovah saved them by a great victory.
14Ils se placèrent au milieu du champ, le protégèrent, et battirent les Philistins. Et l'Eternel opéra une grande délivrance.
14ויתיצבו בתוך החלקה ויצילוה ויכו את פלשתים ויושע יהוה תשועה גדולה׃
15And three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
15Trois des trente chefs descendirent auprès de David sur le rocher dans la caverne d'Adullam, lorsque le camp des Philistins était dressé dans la vallée des Rephaïm.
15וירדו שלושה מן השלושים ראש על הצר אל דויד אל מערת עדלם ומחנה פלשתים חנה בעמק רפאים׃
16And David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.
16David était alors dans la forteresse, et il y avait un poste de Philistins à Bethléhem.
16ודויד אז במצודה ונציב פלשתים אז בבית לחם׃
17And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!
17David eut un désir, et il dit: Qui me fera boire de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléhem?
17ויתאו דויד ויאמר מי ישקני מים מבור בית לחם אשר בשער׃
18And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto Jehovah,
18Alors les trois hommes passèrent au travers du camp des Philistins, et puisèrent de l'eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléhem. Ils l'apportèrent et la présentèrent à David; mais David ne voulut pas la boire, et il la répandit devant l'Eternel.
18ויבקעו השלשה במחנה פלשתים וישאבו מים מבור בית לחם אשר בשער וישאו ויבאו אל דויד ולא אבה דויד לשתותם וינסך אתם ליהוה׃
19and said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with [the jeopardy of] their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.
19Il dit: Que mon Dieu me garde de faire cela! Boirais-je le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés au péril de leur vie? Car c'est au péril de leur vie qu'ils l'ont apportée. Et il ne voulut pas la boire. Voilà ce que firent ces trois vaillants hommes.
19ויאמר חלילה לי מאלהי מעשות זאת הדם האנשים האלה אשתה בנפשותם כי בנפשותם הביאום ולא אבה לשתותם אלה עשו שלשת הגבורים׃
20And Abishai, the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them, and had a name among the three.
20Abischaï, frère de Joab, était le chef des trois. Il brandit sa lance sur trois cents hommes, et les tua; et il eut du renom parmi les trois.
20ואבשי אחי יואב הוא היה ראש השלושה והוא עורר את חניתו על שלש מאות חלל ולא שם בשלושה׃
21Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain: howbeit he attained not to the [first] three.
21Il était le plus considéré des trois de la seconde série, et il fut leur chef; mais il n'égala pas les trois premiers.
21מן השלושה בשנים נכבד ויהי להם לשר ועד השלושה לא בא׃
22Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he slew the two [sons of] Ariel of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.
22Benaja, fils de Jehojada, fils d'un homme de Kabtseel, rempli de valeur et célèbre par ses exploits. Il frappa les deux lions de Moab. Il descendit au milieu d'une citerne, où il frappa un lion, un jour de neige.
22בניה בן יהוידע בן איש חיל רב פעלים מן קבצאל הוא הכה את שני אריאל מואב והוא ירד והכה את הארי בתוך הבור ביום השלג׃
23And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
23Il frappa un Egyptien d'une stature de cinq coudées et ayant à la main une lance comme une ensouple de tisserand; il descendit contre lui avec un bâton, arracha la lance de la main de l'Egyptien, et s'en servit pour le tuer.
23והוא הכה את האיש המצרי איש מדה חמש באמה וביד המצרי חנית כמנור ארגים וירד אליו בשבט ויגזל את החנית מיד המצרי ויהרגהו בחניתו׃
24These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had a name among the three mighty men.
24Voilà ce que fit Benaja, fils de Jehojada; et il eut du renom parmi les trois vaillants hommes.
24אלה עשה בניהו בן יהוידע ולו שם בשלושה הגברים׃
25Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he attained not to the [first] three: and David set him over his guard.
25Il était le plus considéré des trente; mais il n'égala pas les trois premiers. David l'admit dans son conseil secret.
25מן השלושים הנו נכבד הוא ואל השלושה לא בא וישימהו דויד על משמעתו׃
26Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem,
26Hommes vaillants de l'armée: Asaël, frère de Joab. Elchanan, fils de Dodo, de Bethléhem.
26וגבורי החילים עשה אל אחי יואב אלחנן בן דודו מבית לחם׃
27Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
