¹And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.

²And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

²Il battit les Moabites, et les Moabites furent assujettis à David et lui payèrent un tribut.

²ויך את מואב ויהיו מואב עבדים לדויד נשאי מנחה׃

³And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

³David battit Hadarézer, roi de Tsoba, vers Hamath, lorsqu'il alla établir sa domination sur le fleuve de l'Euphrate.

³ויך דויד את הדדעזר מלך צובה חמתה בלכתו להציב ידו בנהר פרת׃

⁴And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hocked all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.

⁴David lui prit mille chars, sept mille cavaliers, et vingt mille hommes de pied; il coupa les jarrets à tous les chevaux de trait, et ne conserva que cent attelages.

⁴וילכד דויד ממנו אלף רכב ושבעת אלפים פרשים ועשרים אלף איש רגלי ויעקר דויד את כל הרכב ויותר ממנו מאה רכב׃

⁵And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadarezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

⁵Les Syriens de Damas vinrent au secours d'Hadarézer, roi de Tsoba, et David battit vingt-deux mille Syriens.

⁵ויבא ארם דרמשק לעזור להדדעזר מלך צובה ויך דויד בארם עשרים ושנים אלף איש׃

⁶Then David put [garrisons] in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.

⁶David mit des garnisons dans la Syrie de Damas. Et les Syriens furent assujettis à David, et lui payèrent un tribut. L'Eternel protégeait David partout où il allait.

⁶וישם דויד בארם דרמשק ויהי ארם לדויד עבדים נשאי מנחה ויושע יהוה לדויד בכל אשר הלך׃

⁷And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

⁷Et David prit les boucliers d'or qu'avaient les serviteurs d'Hadarézer, et les apporta à Jérusalem.

⁷ויקח דויד את שלטי הזהב אשר היו על עבדי הדדעזר ויביאם ירושלם׃

⁸And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadarezer, David took very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

⁸David prit encore une grande quantité d'airain à Thibchath et à Cun, villes d'Hadarézer. Salomon en fit la mer d'airain, les colonnes et les ustensiles d'airain.

⁸ומטבחת ומכון ערי הדדעזר לקח דויד נחשת רבה מאד בה עשה שלמה את ים הנחשת ואת העמודים ואת כלי הנחשת׃

⁹And when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah,

⁹Thohu, roi de Hamath, apprit que David avait battu toute l'armée d'Hadarézer, roi de Tsoba,

⁹וישמע תעו מלך חמת כי הכה דויד את כל חיל הדדעזר מלך צובה׃

¹⁰he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had wars with Tou;) and [he had with him] all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

¹⁰et il envoya Hadoram, son fils, vers le roi David, pour le saluer, et pour le féliciter d'avoir attaqué Hadarézer et de l'avoir battu. Car Thohu était en guerre avec Hadarézer. Il envoya aussi toutes sortes de vases d'or, d'argent et d'airain.

¹⁰וישלח את הדורם בנו אל המלך דויד לשאול לו לשלום ולברכו על אשר נלחם בהדדעזר ויכהו כי איש מלחמות תעו היה הדדעזר וכל כלי זהב וכסף ונחשת׃

¹¹These also did king David dedicate unto Jehovah, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

¹¹Le roi David les consacra à l'Eternel, avec l'argent et l'or qu'il avait pris sur toutes les nations, sur Edom, sur Moab, sur les fils d'Ammon, sur les Philistins et sur Amalek.

¹¹גם אתם הקדיש המלך דויד ליהוה עם הכסף והזהב אשר נשא מכל הגוים מאדום וממואב ומבני עמון ומפלשתים ומעמלק׃

¹²Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah smote of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand.

¹²Abischaï, fils de Tseruja, battit dans la vallée du sel dix-huit mille Edomites.

¹²ואבשי בן צרויה הכה את אדום בגיא המלח שמונה עשר אלף׃

¹³And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.

¹³Il mit des garnisons dans Edom, et tout Edom fut assujetti à David. L'Eternel protégeait David partout où il allait.

¹³וישם באדום נציבים ויהיו כל אדום עבדים לדויד ויושע יהוה את דויד בכל אשר הלך׃

¹⁴And David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness unto all his people.

¹⁴David régna sur tout Israël, et il faisait droit et justice à tout son peuple.

¹⁴וימלך דויד על כל ישראל ויהי עשה משפט וצדקה לכל עמו׃

¹⁵And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

¹⁵Joab, fils de Tseruja, commandait l'armée; Josaphat, fils d'Achilud, était archiviste;

¹⁵ויואב בן צרויה על הצבא ויהושפט בן אחילוד מזכיר׃

¹⁶and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

¹⁶Tsadok, fils d'Achithub, et Abimélec, fils d'Abiathar, étaient sacrificateurs; Schavscha était secrétaire;

¹⁶וצדוק בן אחיטוב ואבימלך בן אביתר כהנים ושושא סופר׃

¹⁷and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

¹⁷Benaja, fils de Jehojada, était chef des Kéréthiens et des Péléthiens; et les fils de David étaient les premiers auprès du roi.

¹⁷ובניהו בן יהוידע על הכרתי והפלתי ובני דויד הראשנים ליד המלך׃
