¹And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of Jehovah, she came to prove him with hard questions.

¹La reine de Séba apprit la renommée que possédait Salomon, à la gloire de l'Eternel, et elle vint pour l'éprouver par des énigmes.

¹ומלכת שבא שמעת את שמע שלמה לשם יהוה ותבא לנסתו בחידות׃

²And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones; and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

²Elle arriva à Jérusalem avec une suite fort nombreuse, et avec des chameaux portant des aromates, de l'or en très grande quantité, et des pierres précieuses. Elle se rendit auprès de Salomon, et elle lui dit tout ce qu'elle avait dans le coeur.

²ותבא ירושלמה בחיל כבד מאד גמלים נשאים בשמים וזהב רב מאד ואבן יקרה ותבא אל שלמה ותדבר אליו את כל אשר היה עם לבבה׃

³And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not anything hid from the king which he told her not.

³Salomon répondit à toutes ses questions, et il n'y eut rien que le roi ne sût lui expliquer.

³ויגד לה שלמה את כל דבריה לא היה דבר נעלם מן המלך אשר לא הגיד לה׃

⁴And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

⁴La reine de Séba vit toute la sagesse de Salomon, et la maison qu'il avait bâtie,

⁴ותרא מלכת שבא את כל חכמת שלמה והבית אשר בנה׃

⁵and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of Jehovah; there was no more spirit in her.

⁵et les mets de sa table, et la demeure de ses serviteurs, et les fonctions et les vêtements de ceux qui le servaient, et ses échansons, et ses holocaustes qu'il offrait dans la maison de l'Eternel. Hors d'elle même,

⁵ומאכל שלחנו ומושב עבדיו ומעמד משרתו ומלבשיהם ומשקיו ועלתו אשר יעלה בית יהוה ולא היה בה עוד רוח׃

⁶And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom.

⁶elle dit au roi: C'était donc vrai ce que j'ai appris dans mon pays au sujet de ta position et de ta sagesse!

⁶ותאמר אל המלך אמת היה הדבר אשר שמעתי בארצי על דבריך ועל חכמתך׃

⁷Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me; thy wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame which I heard.

⁷Je ne le croyais pas, avant d'être venue et d'avoir vu de mes yeux. Et voici, on ne m'en a pas dit la moitié. Tu as plus de sagesse et de prospérité que la renommée ne me l'a fait connaître.

⁷ולא האמנתי לדברים עד אשר באתי ותראינה עיני והנה לא הגד לי החצי הוספת חכמה וטוב אל השמועה אשר שמעתי׃

⁸Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, that stand continually before thee, [and] that hear thy wisdom.

⁸Heureux tes gens, heureux tes serviteurs qui sont continuellement devant toi, qui entendent ta sagesse!

⁸אשרי אנשיך אשרי עבדיך אלה העמדים לפניך תמיד השמעים את חכמתך׃

⁹Blessed be Jehovah thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because Jehovah loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do justice and righteousness.

⁹Béni soit l'Eternel, ton Dieu, qui t'a accordé la faveur de te placer sur le trône d'Israël! C'est parce que l'Eternel aime à toujours Israël, qu'il t'a établi roi pour que tu fasses droit et justice.

⁹יהי יהוה אלהיך ברוך אשר חפץ בך לתתך על כסא ישראל באהבת יהוה את ישראל לעלם וישימך למלך לעשות משפט וצדקה׃

¹⁰And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

¹⁰Elle donna au roi cent vingt talents d'or, une très grande quantité d'aromates, et des pierres précieuses. Il ne vint plus autant d'aromates que la reine de Séba en donna au roi Salomon.

¹⁰ותתן למלך מאה ועשרים ככר זהב ובשמים הרבה מאד ואבן יקרה לא בא כבשם ההוא עוד לרב אשר נתנה מלכת שבא למלך שלמה׃

¹¹And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug-trees and precious stones.

¹¹Les navires de Hiram, qui apportèrent de l'or d'Ophir, amenèrent aussi d'Ophir une grande quantité de bois de sandal et des pierres précieuses.

¹¹וגם אני חירם אשר נשא זהב מאופיר הביא מאפיר עצי אלמגים הרבה מאד ואבן יקרה׃

¹²And the king made of the almug-trees pillars for the house of Jehovah, and for the king's house, harps also and psalteries for the singers: there came no such almug-trees, nor were seen, unto this day.

¹²Le roi fit avec le bois de sandal des balustrades pour la maison de l'Eternel et pour la maison du roi, et des harpes et des luths pour les chantres. Il ne vint plus de ce bois de sandal, et on n'en a plus vu jusqu'à ce jour.

¹²ויעש המלך את עצי האלמגים מסעד לבית יהוה ולבית המלך וכנרות ונבלים לשרים לא בא כן עצי אלמגים ולא נראה עד היום הזה׃

¹³And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, besides that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned, and went to her own land, she and her servants.

¹³Le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Séba tout ce qu'elle désira, ce qu'elle demanda, et lui fit en outre des présents dignes d'un roi tel que Salomon. Puis elle s'en retourna et alla dans son pays, elle et ses serviteurs.

¹³והמלך שלמה נתן למלכת שבא את כל חפצה אשר שאלה מלבד אשר נתן לה כיד המלך שלמה ותפן ותלך לארצה היא ועבדיה׃

¹⁴Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,

¹⁴Le poids de l'or qui arrivait à Salomon chaque année était de six cent soixante-six talents d'or,

¹⁴ויהי משקל הזהב אשר בא לשלמה בשנה אחת שש מאות ששים ושש ככר זהב׃

¹⁵besides [that which] the traders [brought], and the traffic of the merchants, and of all the kings of the mingled people, and of the governors of the country.

¹⁵outre ce qu'il retirait des négociants et du trafic des marchands, de tous les rois d'Arabie, et des gouverneurs du pays.

¹⁵לבד מאנשי התרים ומסחר הרכלים וכל מלכי הערב ופחות הארץ׃

¹⁶And king Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred [shekels] of gold went to one buckler.

¹⁶Le roi Salomon fit deux cents grands boucliers d'or battu, pour chacun desquels il employa six cents sicles d'or,

¹⁶ויעש המלך שלמה מאתים צנה זהב שחוט שש מאות זהב יעלה על הצנה האחת׃

¹⁷And [he made] three hundred shields of beaten gold; three pounds of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

¹⁷et trois cents autres boucliers d'or battu, pour chacun desquels il employa trois mines d'or; et le roi les mit dans la maison de la forêt du Liban.

¹⁷ושלש מאות מגנים זהב שחוט שלשת מנים זהב יעלה על המגן האחת ויתנם המלך בית יער הלבנון׃

¹⁸Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the finest gold.

¹⁸Le roi fit un grand trône d'ivoire, et le couvrit d'or pur.

¹⁸ויעש המלך כסא שן גדול ויצפהו זהב מופז׃

¹⁹There were six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne was round behind; and there were stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.

¹⁹Ce trône avait six degrés, et la partie supérieure en était arrondie par derrière; il y avait des bras de chaque côté du siège; deux lions étaient près des bras,

¹⁹שש מעלות לכסה וראש עגל לכסה מאחריו וידת מזה ומזה אל מקום השבת ושנים אריות עמדים אצל הידות׃

²⁰And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.

²⁰et douze lions sur les six degrés de part et d'autre. Il ne s'est rien fait de pareil pour aucun royaume.

²⁰ושנים עשר אריים עמדים שם על שש המעלות מזה ומזה לא נעשה כן לכל ממלכות׃

²¹And all king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

²¹Toutes les coupes du roi Salomon étaient d'or, et toute la vaisselle de la maison de la forêt du Liban était d'or pur. Rien n'était d'argent: on n'en faisait aucun cas du temps de Salomon.

²¹וכל כלי משקה המלך שלמה זהב וכל כלי בית יער הלבנון זהב סגור אין כסף לא נחשב בימי שלמה למאומה׃

²²For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram: once every three years came the navy of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

²²Car le roi avait en mer des navires de Tarsis avec ceux de Hiram; et tous les trois ans arrivaient les navires de Tarsis, apportant de l'or et de l'argent, de l'ivoire, des singes et des paons.

²²כי אני תרשיש למלך בים עם אני חירם אחת לשלש שנים תבוא אני תרשיש נשאת זהב וכסף שנהבים וקפים ותכיים׃

²³So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.

²³Le roi Salomon fut plus grand que tous les rois de la terre par les richesses et par la sagesse.

²³ויגדל המלך שלמה מכל מלכי הארץ לעשר ולחכמה׃

²⁴And all the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

²⁴Tout le monde cherchait à voir Salomon, pour entendre la sagesse que Dieu avait mise dans son coeur.

²⁴וכל הארץ מבקשים את פני שלמה לשמע את חכמתו אשר נתן אלהים בלבו׃

²⁵And they brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

²⁵Et chacun apportait son présent, des objets d'argent et des objets d'or, des vêtements, des armes, des aromates, des chevaux et des mulets; et il en était ainsi chaque année.

²⁵והמה מבאים איש מנחתו כלי כסף וכלי זהב ושלמות ונשק ובשמים סוסים ופרדים דבר שנה בשנה׃

²⁶And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

²⁶Salomon rassembla des chars et de la cavalerie; il avait quatorze cents chars et douze mille cavaliers, qu'il plaça dans les villes où il tenait ses chars et à Jérusalem près du roi.

²⁶ויאסף שלמה רכב ופרשים ויהי לו אלף וארבע מאות רכב ושנים עשר אלף פרשים וינחם בערי הרכב ועם המלך בירושלם׃

²⁷And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore-trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.

²⁷Le roi rendit l'argent aussi commun à Jérusalem que les pierres, et les cèdres aussi nombreux que les sycomores qui croissent dans la plaine.

²⁷ויתן המלך את הכסף בירושלם כאבנים ואת הארזים נתן כשקמים אשר בשפלה לרב׃

²⁸And the horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; and the king's merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price.

²⁸C'était de l'Egypte que Salomon tirait ses chevaux; une caravane de marchands du roi les allait chercher par troupes à un prix fixe:

²⁸ומוצא הסוסים אשר לשלמה ממצרים ומקוה סחרי המלך יקחו מקוה במחיר׃

²⁹And a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.

²⁹un char montait et sortait d'Egypte pour six cents sicles d'argent, et un cheval pour cent cinquante sicles. Ils en amenaient de même avec eux pour tous les rois des Héthiens et pour les rois de Syrie.

²⁹ותעלה ותצא מרכבה ממצרים בשש מאות כסף וסוס בחמשים ומאה וכן לכל מלכי החתים ולמלכי ארם בידם יצאו׃
