1Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat began Abijam to reign over Judah.
1La dix-huitième année du règne de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, Abijam régna sur Juda.
1ובשנת שמנה עשרה למלך ירבעם בן נבט מלך אבים על יהודה׃
2Three years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
2Il régna trois ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Maaca, fille d'Abisalom.
2שלש שנים מלך בירושלם ושם אמו מעכה בת אבישלום׃
3And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father.
3Il se livra à tous les péchés que son père avait commis avant lui; et son coeur ne fut point tout entier à l'Eternel, son Dieu, comme l'avait été le coeur de David, son père.
3וילך בכל חטאות אביו אשר עשה לפניו ולא היה לבבו שלם עם יהוה אלהיו כלבב דוד אביו׃
4Nevertheless for David's sake did Jehovah his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem;
4Mais à cause de David, l'Eternel, son Dieu, lui donna une lampe à Jérusalem, en établissant son fils après lui et en laissant subsister Jérusalem.
4כי למען דוד נתן יהוה אלהיו לו ניר בירושלם להקים את בנו אחריו ולהעמיד את ירושלם׃
5because David did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, and turned not aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
5Car David avait fait ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel, et il ne s'était détourné d'aucun de ses commandements pendant toute sa vie, excepté dans l'affaire d'Urie, le Héthien.
5אשר עשה דוד את הישר בעיני יהוה ולא סר מכל אשר צוהו כל ימי חייו רק בדבר אוריה החתי׃
6Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
6Il y eut guerre entre Roboam et Jéroboam, tant que vécut Roboam.
6ומלחמה היתה בין רחבעם ובין ירבעם כל ימי חייו׃
7And the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
7Le reste des actions d'Abijam, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda? Il y eut guerre entre Abijam et Jéroboam.
7ויתר דברי אבים וכל אשר עשה הלוא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה ומלחמה היתה בין אבים ובין ירבעם׃
8And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.
8Abijam se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans la ville de David. Et Asa, son fils, régna à sa place.
8וישכב אבים עם אבתיו ויקברו אתו בעיר דוד וימלך אסא בנו תחתיו׃
9And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel began Asa to reign over Judah.
9La vingtième année de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël, Asa régna sur Juda.
9ובשנת עשרים לירבעם מלך ישראל מלך אסא מלך יהודה׃
10And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.
10Il régna quarante et un ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Maaca, fille d'Abisalom.
10וארבעים ואחת שנה מלך בירושלם ושם אמו מעכה בת אבישלום׃
11And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, as did David his father.
11Asa fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel, comme David, son père.
11ויעש אסא הישר בעיני יהוה כדוד אביו׃
12And he put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
12Il ôta du pays les prostitués, et il fit disparaître toutes les idoles que ses pères avaient faites.
12ויעבר הקדשים מן הארץ ויסר את כל הגללים אשר עשו אבתיו׃
13And also Maacah his mother he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
13Et même il enleva la dignité de reine à Maaca, sa mère, parce qu'elle avait fait une idole pour Astarté. Asa abattit son idole, et la brûla au torrent de Cédron.
13וגם את מעכה אמו ויסרה מגבירה אשר עשתה מפלצת לאשרה ויכרת אסא את מפלצתה וישרף בנחל קדרון׃
14But the high places were not taken away: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with Jehovah all his days.
14Mais les hauts lieux ne disparurent point, quoique le coeur d'Asa fût en entier à l'Eternel pendant toute sa vie.
14והבמות לא סרו רק לבב אסא היה שלם עם יהוה כל ימיו׃
15And he brought into the house of Jehovah the things that his father had dedicated, and the things that himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
15Il mit dans la maison de l'Eternel les choses consacrées par son père et par lui-même, de l'argent, de l'or et des vases.
15ויבא את קדשי אביו וקדשו בית יהוה כסף וזהב וכלים׃
16And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
16Il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baescha, roi d'Israël, pendant toute leur vie.
16ומלחמה היתה בין אסא ובין בעשא מלך ישראל כל ימיהם׃
17And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
17Baescha, roi d'Israël, monta contre Juda; et il bâtit Rama, pour empêcher ceux d'Asa, roi de Juda, de sortir et d'entrer.
17ויעל בעשא מלך ישראל על יהודה ויבן את הרמה לבלתי תת יצא ובא לאסא מלך יהודה׃
18Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants; and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
18Asa prit tout l'argent et tout l'or qui étaient restés dans les trésors de la maison de l'Eternel et les trésors de la maison du roi, et il les mit entre les mains de ses serviteurs qu'il envoya vers Ben-Hadad, fils de Thabrimmon, fils de Hezjon, roi de Syrie, qui habitait à Damas. Le roi Asa lui fit dire:
18ויקח אסא את כל הכסף והזהב הנותרים באוצרות בית יהוה ואת אוצרות בית מלך ויתנם ביד עבדיו וישלחם המלך אסא אל בן הדד בן טברמן בן חזיון מלך ארם הישב בדמשק לאמר׃
19[There is] a league between me and thee, between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; go, break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
19Qu'il y ait une alliance entre moi et toi, comme il y en eut une entre mon père et ton père. Voici, je t'envoie un présent en argent et en or. Va, romps ton alliance avec Baescha, roi d'Israël, afin qu'il s'éloigne de moi.
19ברית ביני ובינך בין אבי ובין אביך הנה שלחתי לך שחד כסף וזהב לך הפרה את בריתך את בעשא מלך ישראל ויעלה מעלי׃
20And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maacah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
20Ben-Hadad écouta le roi Asa; il envoya les chefs de son armée contre les villes d'Israël, et il battit Ijjon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maaca, tout Kinneroth, et tout le pays de Nephthali.
20וישמע בן הדד אל המלך אסא וישלח את שרי החילים אשר לו על ערי ישראל ויך את עיון ואת דן ואת אבל בית מעכה ואת כל כנרות על כל ארץ נפתלי׃
21And it came to pass, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.
21Lorsque Baescha l'apprit, il cessa de bâtir Rama, et il resta à Thirtsa.
21ויהי כשמע בעשא ויחדל מבנות את הרמה וישב בתרצה׃
22Then king Asa made a proclamation unto all Judah; none was exempted: and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built therewith Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
22Le roi Asa convoqua tout Juda, sans exempter personne, et ils emportèrent les pierres et le bois que Baescha employait à la construction de Rama; et le roi Asa s'en servit pour bâtir Guéba de Benjamin et Mitspa.
22והמלך אסא השמיע את כל יהודה אין נקי וישאו את אבני הרמה ואת עציה אשר בנה בעשא ויבן בם המלך אסא את גבע בנימן ואת המצפה׃
23Now the rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
23Le reste de toutes les actions d'Asa, tous ses exploits et tout ce qu'il a fait, et les villes qu'il a bâties, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda? Toutefois, à l'époque de sa vieillesse, il eut les pieds malades.
23ויתר כל דברי אסא וכל גבורתו וכל אשר עשה והערים אשר בנה הלא המה כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה רק לעת זקנתו חלה את רגליו׃
24And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.
24Asa se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David, son père. Et Josaphat, son fils, régna à sa place.
24וישכב אסא עם אבתיו ויקבר עם אבתיו בעיר דוד אביו וימלך יהושפט בנו תחתיו׃
25And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah; and he reigned over Israel two years.
25Nadab, fils de Jéroboam, régna sur Israël, la seconde année d'Asa, roi de Juda. Il régna deux ans sur Israël.
25ונדב בן ירבעם מלך על ישראל בשנת שתים לאסא מלך יהודה וימלך על ישראל שנתים׃
26And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
26Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel; et il marcha dans la voie de son père, se livrant aux péchés que son père avait fait commettre à Israël.
26ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה וילך בדרך אביו ובחטאתו אשר החטיא את ישראל׃
27And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
27Baescha, fils d'Achija, de la maison d'Issacar, conspira contre lui, et Baescha le tua à Guibbethon, qui appartenait aux Philistins, pendant que Nadab et tout Israël assiégeaient Guibbethon.
27ויקשר עליו בעשא בן אחיה לבית יששכר ויכהו בעשא בגבתון אשר לפלשתים ונדב וכל ישראל צרים על גבתון׃
28Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.
28Baescha le fit périr la troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et il régna à sa place.
28וימתהו בעשא בשנת שלש לאסא מלך יהודה וימלך תחתיו׃
29And it came to pass that, as soon as he was king, he smote all the house of Jeroboam: he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him; according unto the saying of Jehovah, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite;
29Lorsqu'il fut roi, il frappa toute la maison de Jéroboam, il n'en laissa échapper personne et il détruisit tout ce qui respirait, selon la parole que l'Eternel avait dite par son serviteur Achija de Silo,
29ויהי כמלכו הכה את כל בית ירבעם לא השאיר כל נשמה לירבעם עד השמדו כדבר יהוה אשר דבר ביד עבדו אחיה השילני׃
30for the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and wherewith he made Israel to sin, because of his provocation wherewith he provoked Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger.
30cause des péchés que Jéroboam avait commis et qu'il avait fait commettre à Israël, irritant ainsi l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël.
30על חטאות ירבעם אשר חטא ואשר החטיא את ישראל בכעסו אשר הכעיס את יהוה אלהי ישראל׃

32And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

32ומלחמה היתה בין אסא ובין בעשא מלך ישראל כל ימיהם׃
33In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, [and reigned] twenty and four years.
33La troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Baescha, fils d'Achija, régna sur tout Israël à Thirtsa. Il régna vingt-quatre ans.
33בשנת שלש לאסא מלך יהודה מלך בעשא בן אחיה על כל ישראל בתרצה עשרים וארבע שנה׃
34And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.
