¹And king Solomon was king over all Israel.

²And these were the princes whom he had: Azariah the son of Zadok, the priest;

²ואלה השרים אשר לו עזריהו בן צדוק הכהן׃

³Elihoreph and Ahijah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder;

³Elihoreph et Achija, fils de Schischa, étaient secrétaires; Josaphat, fils d'Achilud, était archiviste;

³אליחרף ואחיה בני שישא ספרים יהושפט בן אחילוד המזכיר׃

⁴and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

⁴Benaja, fils de Jehojada, commandait l'armée; Tsadok et Abiathar étaient sacrificateurs;

⁴ובניהו בן יהוידע על הצבא וצדוק ואביתר כהנים׃

⁵and Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers; and Zabud the son of Nathan was chief minister, [and] the king's friend;

⁵Azaria, fils de Nathan, était chef des intendants; Zabud, fils de Nathan, était ministre d'état, favori du roi;

⁵ועזריהו בן נתן על הנצבים וזבוד בן נתן כהן רעה המלך׃

⁶and Ahishar was over the household; and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the men subject to taskwork.

⁶Achischar était chef de la maison du roi; et Adoniram, fils d'Abda, était préposé sur les impôts.

⁶ואחישר על הבית ואדנירם בן עבדא על המס׃

⁷And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who provided victuals for the king and his household: each man had to make provision for a month in the year.

⁷Salomon avait douze intendants sur tout Israël. Ils pourvoyaient à l'entretien du roi et de sa maison, chacun pendant un mois de l'année.

⁷ולשלמה שנים עשר נצבים על כל ישראל וכלכלו את המלך ואת ביתו חדש בשנה יהיה על אחד לכלכל׃

⁸And these are their names: Ben-hur, in the hill-country of Ephraim;

⁸Voici leurs noms. Le fils de Hur, dans la montagne d'Ephraïm.

⁸ואלה שמותם בן חור בהר אפרים׃

⁹Ben-deker, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan;

⁹Le fils de Déker, à Makats, à Saalbim, à Beth-Schémesch, à Elon et à Beth-Hanan.

⁹בן דקר במקץ ובשעלבים ובית שמש ואילון בית חנן׃

¹⁰Ben-hesed, in Arubboth (to him [pertained] Socoh, and all the land of Hepher);

¹⁰Le fils de Hésed, à Arubboth; il avait Soco et tout le pays de Hépher.

¹⁰בן חסד בארבות לו שכה וכל ארץ חפר׃

¹¹Ben-abinadab, in all the height of Dor (he had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife);

¹¹Le fils d'Abinadab avait toute la contrée de Dor. Thaphath, fille de Salomon, était sa femme.

¹¹בן אבינדב כל נפת דאר טפת בת שלמה היתה לו לאשה׃

¹²Baana the son of Ahilud, in Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean which is beside Zarethan, beneath Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah, as far as beyond Jokmeam;

¹²Baana, fils d'Achilud, avait Thaanac et Meguiddo, et tout Beth-Schean qui est près de Tsarthan au-dessous de Jizreel, depuis Beth-Schean jusqu'à Abel-Mehola, jusqu'au delà de Jokmeam.

¹²בענא בן אחילוד תענך ומגדו וכל בית שאן אשר אצל צרתנה מתחת ליזרעאל מבית שאן עד אבל מחולה עד מעבר ליקמעם׃

¹³Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gilead (to him [pertained] the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; [even] to him [pertained] the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brazen bars);

¹³Le fils de Guéber, à Ramoth en Galaad; il avait les bourgs de Jaïr, fils de Manassé, en Galaad; il avait encore la contrée d'Argob en Basan, soixante grandes villes à murailles et à barres d'airain.

¹³בן גבר ברמת גלעד לו חות יאיר בן מנשה אשר בגלעד לו חבל ארגב אשר בבשן ששים ערים גדלות חומה ובריח נחשת׃

¹⁴Ahinadab the son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;

¹⁴Achinadab, fils d'Iddo, à Mahanaïm.

¹⁴אחינדב בן עדא מחנימה׃

¹⁵Ahimaaz, in Naphtali (he also took Basemath the daughter of Solomon to wife);

¹⁵Achimaats, en Nephthali. Il avait pris pour femme Basmath, fille de Salomon.

¹⁵אחימעץ בנפתלי גם הוא לקח את בשמת בת שלמה לאשה׃

¹⁶Baana the son of Hushai, in Asher and Bealoth;

¹⁶Baana, fils de Huschaï, en Aser et à Bealoth.

¹⁶בענא בן חושי באשר ובעלות׃

¹⁷Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar;

¹⁷Josaphat, fils de Paruach, en Issacar.

¹⁷יהושפט בן פרוח ביששכר׃

¹⁸Shimei the son of Ela, in Benjamin;

¹⁸Schimeï, fils d'Ela, en Benjamin.

¹⁸שמעי בן אלא בבנימן׃

¹⁹Geber the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan; and [he was] the only officer that was in the land.

¹⁹Guéber, fils d'Uri, dans le pays de Galaad; il avait la contrée de Sihon, roi des Amoréens, et d'Og, roi de Basan. Il y avait un seul intendant pour ce pays.

¹⁹גבר בן ארי בארץ גלעד ארץ סיחון מלך האמרי ועג מלך הבשן ונציב אחד אשר בארץ׃

²⁰Judah and Israel were many as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking and making merry.

²⁰Juda et Israël étaient très nombreux, pareils au sable qui est sur le bord de la mer. Ils mangeaient, buvaient et se réjouissaient.

²⁰יהודה וישראל רבים כחול אשר על הים לרב אכלים ושתים ושמחים׃

²¹And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought tribute, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

²¹Salomon dominait encore sur tous les royaumes depuis le fleuve jusqu'au pays des Philistins et jusqu'à la frontière d'Egypte; ils apportaient des présents, et ils furent assujettis à Salomon tout le temps de sa vie.

²¹ושלמה היה מושל בכל הממלכות מן הנהר ארץ פלשתים ועד גבול מצרים מגשים מנחה ועבדים את שלמה כל ימי חייו׃

²²And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

²²Chaque jour Salomon consommait en vivres: trente cors de fleur de farine et soixante cors de farine,

²²ויהי לחם שלמה ליום אחד שלשים כר סלת וששים כר קמח׃

²³ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides harts, and gazelles, and roebucks, and fatted fowl.

²³dix boeufs gras, vingt boeufs de pâturage, et cent brebis, outre les cerfs, les gazelles, les daims, et les volailles engraissées.

²³עשרה בקר בראים ועשרים בקר רעי ומאה צאן לבד מאיל וצבי ויחמור וברברים אבוסים׃

²⁴For he had dominion over all [the region] on this side the River, from Tiphsah even to Gaza, over all the kings on this side the River: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

²⁴Il dominait sur tout le pays de l'autre côté du fleuve, depuis Thiphsach jusqu'à Gaza, sur tous les rois de l'autre côté du fleuve. Et il avait la paix de tous les côtés alentour.

²⁴כי הוא רדה בכל עבר הנהר מתפסח ועד עזה בכל מלכי עבר הנהר ושלום היה לו מכל עבריו מסביב׃

²⁵And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

²⁵Juda et Israël, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beer-Schéba, habitèrent en sécurité, chacun sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, tout le temps de Salomon.

²⁵וישב יהודה וישראל לבטח איש תחת גפנו ותחת תאנתו מדן ועד באר שבע כל ימי שלמה׃

²⁶And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

²⁶Salomon avait quarante mille crèches pour les chevaux destinés à ses chars, et douze mille cavaliers.

²⁶ויהי לשלמה ארבעים אלף ארות סוסים למרכבו ושנים עשר אלף פרשים׃

²⁷And those officers provided victuals for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month; they let nothing be lacking.

²⁷Les intendants pourvoyaient à l'entretien du roi Salomon et de tous ceux qui s'approchaient de sa table, chacun pendant son mois; ils ne laissaient manquer de rien.

²⁷וכלכלו הנצבים האלה את המלך שלמה ואת כל הקרב אל שלחן המלך שלמה איש חדשו לא יעדרו דבר׃

²⁸Barley also and straw for the horses and swift steeds brought they unto the place where [the officers] were, every man according to his charge.

²⁸Ils faisaient aussi venir de l'orge et de la paille pour les chevaux et les coursiers dans le lieu où se trouvait le roi, chacun selon les ordres qu'il avait reçus.

²⁸והשערים והתבן לסוסים ולרכש יבאו אל המקום אשר יהיה שם איש כמשפטו׃

²⁹And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore.

²⁹Dieu donna à Salomon de la sagesse, une très grande intelligence, et des connaissances multipliées comme le sable qui est au bord de la mer.

²⁹ויתן אלהים חכמה לשלמה ותבונה הרבה מאד ורחב לב כחול אשר על שפת הים׃

³⁰And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

³⁰La sagesse de Salomon surpassait la sagesse de tous les fils de l'Orient et toute la sagesse des Egyptiens.

³⁰ותרב חכמת שלמה מחכמת כל בני קדם ומכל חכמת מצרים׃

³¹For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all the nations round about.

³¹Il était plus sage qu'aucun homme, plus qu'Ethan, l'Ezrachite, plus qu'Héman, Calcol et Darda, les fils de Machol; et sa renommée était répandue parmi toutes les nations d'alentour.

³¹ויחכם מכל האדם מאיתן האזרחי והימן וכלכל ודרדע בני מחול ויהי שמו בכל הגוים סביב׃

³²And he spake three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.

³²Il a prononcé trois mille sentences, et composé mille cinq cantiques.

³²וידבר שלשת אלפים משל ויהי שירו חמשה ואלף׃

³³And he spake of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall; he spake also of beasts, and of birds, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

³³Il a parlé sur les arbres, depuis le cèdre du Liban jusqu'à l'hysope qui sort de la muraille; il a aussi parlé sur les animaux, sur les oiseaux, sur les reptiles et sur les poissons.

³³וידבר על העצים מן הארז אשר בלבנון ועד האזוב אשר יצא בקיר וידבר על הבהמה ועל העוף ועל הרמש ועל הדגים׃

³⁴And there came of all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.

³⁴Il venait des gens de tous les peuples pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon, de la part de tous les rois de la terre qui avaient entendu parler de sa sagesse.

³⁴ויבאו מכל העמים לשמע את חכמת שלמה מאת כל מלכי הארץ אשר שמעו את חכמתו׃
