1And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Jehovah.
1Ce fut la quatre cent quatre-vingtième année après la sortie des enfants d'Israël du pays d'Egypte que Salomon bâtit la maison à l'Eternel, la quatrième année de son règne sur Israël, au mois de Ziv, qui est le second mois.
1ויהי בשמונים שנה וארבע מאות שנה לצאת בני ישראל מארץ מצרים בשנה הרביעית בחדש זו הוא החדש השני למלך שלמה על ישראל ויבן הבית ליהוה׃
2And the house which king Solomon built for Jehovah, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty [cubits], and the height thereof thirty cubits.
2La maison que le roi Salomon bâtit à l'Eternel avait soixante coudées de longueur, vingt de largeur, et trente de hauteur.
2והבית אשר בנה המלך שלמה ליהוה ששים אמה ארכו ועשרים רחבו ושלשים אמה קומתו׃
3And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; [and] ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.
3Le portique devant le temple de la maison avait vingt coudées de longueur répondant à la largeur de la maison, et dix coudées de profondeur sur la face de la maison.
3והאולם על פני היכל הבית עשרים אמה ארכו על פני רחב הבית עשר באמה רחבו על פני הבית׃
4And for the house he made windows of fixed lattice-work.
4Le roi fit à la maison des fenêtres solidement grillées.
4ויעש לבית חלוני שקפים אטמים׃
5And against the wall of the house he built stories round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about.
5Il bâtit contre le mur de la maison des étages circulaires, qui entouraient les murs de la maison, le temple et le sanctuaire; et il fit des chambres latérales tout autour.
5ויבן על קיר הבית יצוע סביב את קירות הבית סביב להיכל ולדביר ויעש צלעות סביב׃
6The nethermost story was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made offsets [in the wall] of the house round about, that [the beams] should not have hold in the walls of the house.
6L'étage inférieur était large de cinq coudées, celui du milieu de six coudées, et le troisième de sept coudées; car il ménagea des retraites à la maison tout autour en dehors, afin que la charpente n'entrât pas dans les murs de la maison.
6היצוע התחתנה חמש באמה רחבה והתיכנה שש באמה רחבה והשלישית שבע באמה רחבה כי מגרעות נתן לבית סביב חוצה לבלתי אחז בקירות הבית׃
7And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.
7Lorsqu'on bâtit la maison, on se servit de pierres toutes taillées, et ni marteau, ni hache, ni aucun instrument de fer, ne furent entendus dans la maison pendant qu'on la construisait.
7והבית בהבנתו אבן שלמה מסע נבנה ומקבות והגרזן כל כלי ברזל לא נשמע בבית בהבנתו׃
8The door for the middle side-chambers was in the right side of the house: and they went up by winding stairs into the middle [story], and out of the middle into the third.
8L'entrée des chambres de l'étage inférieur était au côté droit de la maison; on montait à l'étage du milieu par un escalier tournant, et de l'étage du milieu au troisième.
8פתח הצלע התיכנה אל כתף הבית הימנית ובלולים יעלו על התיכנה ומן התיכנה אל השלשים׃
9So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.
9Après avoir achevé de bâtir la maison, Salomon la couvrit de planches et de poutres de cèdre.
9ויבן את הבית ויכלהו ויספן את הבית גבים ושדרת בארזים׃
10And he built the stories against all the house, each five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.
10Il donna cinq coudées de hauteur à chacun des étages qui entouraient toute la maison, et il les lia à la maison par des bois de cèdre.
10ויבן את היצוע על כל הבית חמש אמות קומתו ויאחז את הבית בעצי ארזים׃
11And the word of Jehovah came to Solomon, saying,
11L'Eternel adressa la parole à Salomon, et lui dit:
11ויהי דבר יהוה אל שלמה לאמר׃
12Concerning this house which thou art building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute mine ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I establish my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father.
12Tu bâtis cette maison! Si tu marches selon mes lois, si tu pratiques mes ordonnances, si tu observes et suis tous mes commandements, j'accomplirai à ton égard la promesse que j'ai faite à David, ton père,
12הבית הזה אשר אתה בנה אם תלך בחקתי ואת משפטי תעשה ושמרת את כל מצותי ללכת בהם והקמתי את דברי אתך אשר דברתי אל דוד אביך׃
13And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
13j'habiterai au milieu des enfants d'Israël, et je n'abandonnerai point mon peuple d'Israël.
13ושכנתי בתוך בני ישראל ולא אעזב את עמי ישראל׃
14So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
14Après avoir achevé de bâtir la maison,
14ויבן שלמה את הבית ויכלהו׃
15And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar: from the floor of the house unto the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of fir.
15Salomon en revêtit intérieurement les murs de planches de cèdre, depuis le sol jusqu'au plafond; il revêtit ainsi de bois l'intérieur, et il couvrit le sol de la maison de planches de cyprès.
15ויבן את קירות הבית מביתה בצלעות ארזים מקרקע הבית עד קירות הספן צפה עץ מבית ויצף את קרקע הבית בצלעות ברושים׃
16And he built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor unto the walls [of the ceiling]: he built [them] for it within, for an oracle, even for the most holy place.
16Il revêtit de planches de cèdre les vingt coudées du fond de la maison, depuis le sol jusqu'au haut des murs, et il réserva cet espace pour en faire le sanctuaire, le lieu très saint.
16ויבן את עשרים אמה מירכותי הבית בצלעות ארזים מן הקרקע עד הקירות ויבן לו מבית לדביר לקדש הקדשים׃
17And the house, that is, the temple before [the oracle], was forty cubits [long].
17Les quarante coudées sur le devant formaient la maison, c'est-à-dire le temple.
17וארבעים באמה היה הבית הוא ההיכל לפני׃
18And there was cedar on the house within, carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.
18Le bois de cèdre à l'intérieur de la maison offrait des sculptures de coloquintes et de fleurs épanouies; tout était de cèdre, on ne voyait aucune pierre.
18וארז אל הבית פנימה מקלעת פקעים ופטורי צצים הכל ארז אין אבן נראה׃
19And he prepared an oracle in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.
19Salomon établit le sanctuaire intérieurement au milieu de la maison, pour y placer l'arche de l'alliance de l'Eternel.
19ודביר בתוך הבית מפנימה הכין לתתן שם את ארון ברית יהוה׃
20And within the oracle was [a space of] twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof; and he overlaid it with pure gold: and he covered the altar with cedar.
20Le sanctuaire avait vingt coudées de longueur, vingt coudées de largeur, et vingt coudées de hauteur. Salomon le couvrit d'or pur. Il fit devant le sanctuaire un autel de bois de cèdre et le couvrit d'or.
20ולפני הדביר עשרים אמה ארך ועשרים אמה רחב ועשרים אמה קומתו ויצפהו זהב סגור ויצף מזבח ארז׃
21So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he drew chains of gold across before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.
21Il couvrit d'or pur l'intérieur de la maison, et il fit passer le voile dans des chaînettes d'or devant le sanctuaire, qu'il couvrit d'or.
21ויצף שלמה את הבית מפנימה זהב סגור ויעבר ברתיקות זהב לפני הדביר ויצפהו זהב׃
22And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished: also the whole altar that belonged to the oracle he overlaid with gold.
22Il couvrit d'or toute la maison, la maison tout entière, et il couvrit d'or tout l'autel qui était devant le sanctuaire.
22ואת כל הבית צפה זהב עד תם כל הבית וכל המזבח אשר לדביר צפה זהב׃
23And in the oracle he made two cherubim of olive-wood, each ten cubits high.
23Il fit dans le sanctuaire deux chérubins de bois d'olivier sauvage, ayant dix coudées de hauteur.
23ויעש בדביר שני כרובים עצי שמן עשר אמות קומתו׃
24And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.
24Chacune des deux ailes de l'un des chérubins avait cinq coudées, ce qui faisait dix coudées de l'extrémité d'une de ses ailes à l'extrémité de l'autre.
24וחמש אמות כנף הכרוב האחת וחמש אמות כנף הכרוב השנית עשר אמות מקצות כנפיו ועד קצות כנפיו׃
25And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.
25Le second chérubin avait aussi dix coudées. La mesure et la forme étaient les mêmes pour les deux chérubins.
25ועשר באמה הכרוב השני מדה אחת וקצב אחד לשני הכרבים׃
26The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.
26La hauteur de chacun des deux chérubins était de dix coudées.
26קומת הכרוב האחד עשר באמה וכן הכרוב השני׃
27And he set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.
27Salomon plaça les chérubins au milieu de la maison, dans l'intérieur. Leurs ailes étaient déployées: l'aile du premier touchait à l'un des murs, et l'aile du second touchait à l'autre mur; et leurs autres ailes se rencontraient par l'extrémité au milieu de la maison.
27ויתן את הכרובים בתוך הבית הפנימי ויפרשו את כנפי הכרבים ותגע כנף האחד בקיר וכנף הכרוב השני נגעת בקיר השני וכנפיהם אל תוך הבית נגעת כנף אל כנף׃
28And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.
28Salomon couvrit d'or les chérubins.
28ויצף את הכרובים זהב׃
29And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, within and without.
29Il fit sculpter sur tout le pourtour des murs de la maison, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur, des chérubins, des palmes et des fleurs épanouies.
29ואת כל קירות הבית מסב קלע פתוחי מקלעות כרובים ותמרת ופטורי צצים מלפנים ולחיצון׃
30And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.
30Il couvrit d'or le sol de la maison, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur.
30ואת קרקע הבית צפה זהב לפנימה ולחיצון׃
31And for the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive-wood: the lintel [and] door-posts were a fifth part [of the wall].
31Il fit à l'entrée du sanctuaire une porte à deux battants, de bois d'olivier sauvage; l'encadrement avec les poteaux équivalait à un cinquième du mur.
31ואת פתח הדביר עשה דלתות עצי שמן האיל מזוזות חמשית׃
32So [he made] two doors of olive-wood; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm-trees.
32Les deux battants étaient de bois d'olivier sauvage. Il y fit sculpter des chérubins, des palmes et des fleurs épanouies, et il les couvrit d'or; il étendit aussi l'or sur les chérubins et sur les palmes.
32ושתי דלתות עצי שמן וקלע עליהם מקלעות כרובים ותמרות ופטורי צצים וצפה זהב וירד על הכרובים ועל התמרות את הזהב׃
33So also made he for the entrance of the temple door-posts of olive-wood, out of a fourth part [of the wall];
33Il fit de même, pour la porte du temple, des poteaux de bois d'olivier sauvage, ayant le quart de la dimension du mur,
33וכן עשה לפתח ההיכל מזוזות עצי שמן מאת רבעית׃
34and two doors of fir-wood: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.
34et deux battants de bois de cyprès; chacun des battants était formé de deux planches brisées.
34ושתי דלתות עצי ברושים שני צלעים הדלת האחת גלילים ושני קלעים הדלת השנית גלילים׃
35And he carved [thereon] cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted upon the graven work.
35Il y fit sculpter des chérubins, des palmes et des fleurs épanouies, et il les couvrit d'or, qu'il étendit sur la sculpture.
35וקלע כרובים ותמרות ופטרי צצים וצפה זהב מישר על המחקה׃
36And he built the inner court with three courses of hewn stone, and a course of cedar beams.
36Il bâtit le parvis intérieur de trois rangées de pierres de taille et d'une rangée de poutres de cèdre.
36ויבן את החצר הפנימית שלשה טורי גזית וטור כרתת ארזים׃
37In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of Jehovah laid, in the month Ziv.
37La quatrième année, au mois de Ziv, les fondements de la maison de l'Eternel furent posés;
37בשנה הרביעית יסד בית יהוה בירח זו׃
38And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
38et la onzième année, au mois de Bul, qui est le huitième mois, la maison fut achevée dans toutes ses parties et telle qu'elle devait être. Salomon la construisit dans l'espace de sept ans.
38ובשנה האחת עשרה בירח בול הוא החדש השמיני כלה הבית לכל דבריו ולכל משפטו ויבנהו שבע שנים׃
