1And Hannah prayed, and said: My heart exulteth in Jehovah; My horn is exalted in Jehovah; My mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; Because I rejoice in thy salvation.
1Anne pria, et dit: Mon coeur se réjouit en l'Eternel, Ma force a été relevée par l'Eternel; Ma bouche s'est ouverte contre mes ennemis, Car je me réjouis de ton secours.
1ותתפלל חנה ותאמר עלץ לבי ביהוה רמה קרני ביהוה רחב פי על אויבי כי שמחתי בישועתך׃
2There is none holy as Jehovah; For there is none besides thee, Neither is there any rock like our God.
2Nul n'est saint comme l'Eternel; Il n'y a point d'autre Dieu que toi; Il n'y a point de rocher comme notre Dieu.
2אין קדוש כיהוה כי אין בלתך ואין צור כאלהינו׃
3Talk no more so exceeding proudly; Let not arrogancy come out of your mouth; For Jehovah is a God of knowledge, And by him actions are weighed.
3Ne parlez plus avec tant de hauteur; Que l'arrogance ne sorte plus de votre bouche; Car l'Eternel est un Dieu qui sait tout, Et par lui sont pesées toutes les actions.
3אל תרבו תדברו גבהה גבהה יצא עתק מפיכם כי אל דעות יהוה ולא נתכנו עללות׃
4The bows of the mighty men are broken; And they that stumbled are girded with strength.
4L'arc des puissants est brisé, Et les faibles ont la force pour ceinture.
4קשת גברים חתים ונכשלים אזרו חיל׃
5They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; And they that were hungry have ceased [to hunger]: Yea, the barren hath borne seven; And she that hath many children languisheth.
5Ceux qui étaient rassasiés se louent pour du pain, Et ceux qui étaient affamés se reposent; Même la stérile enfante sept fois, Et celle qui avait beaucoup d'enfants est flétrie.
5שבעים בלחם נשכרו ורעבים חדלו עד עקרה ילדה שבעה ורבת בנים אמללה׃
6Jehovah killeth, and maketh alive: He bringeth down to Sheol, and bringeth up.
6L'Eternel fait mourir et il fait vivre. Il fait descendre au séjour des morts et il en fait remonter.
6יהוה ממית ומחיה מוריד שאול ויעל׃
7Jehovah maketh poor, and maketh rich: He bringeth low, he also lifteth up.
7L'Eternel appauvrit et il enrichit, Il abaisse et il élève.
7יהוה מוריש ומעשיר משפיל אף מרומם׃
8He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, He lifteth up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, And inherit the throne of glory: For the pillars of the earth are Jehovah's, And he hath set the world upon them.
8De la poussière il retire le pauvre, Du fumier il relève l'indigent, Pour les faire asseoir avec les grands. Et il leur donne en partage un trône de gloire; Car à l'Eternel sont les colonnes de la terre, Et c'est sur elles qu'il a posé le monde.
8מקים מעפר דל מאשפת ירים אביון להושיב עם נדיבים וכסא כבוד ינחלם כי ליהוה מצקי ארץ וישת עליהם תבל׃
9He will keep the feet of his holy ones; But the wicked shall be put to silence in darkness; For by strength shall no man prevail.
9Il gardera les pas de ses bien-aimés. Mais les méchants seront anéantis dans les ténèbres; Car l'homme ne triomphera point par la force.
9רגלי חסידו ישמר ורשעים בחשך ידמו כי לא בכח יגבר איש׃
10They that strive with Jehovah shall be broken to pieces; Against them will he thunder in heaven: Jehovah will judge the ends of the earth; And he will give strength unto his king, And exalt the horn of his anointed.
10Les ennemis de l'Eternel trembleront; Du haut des cieux il lancera sur eux son tonnerre; L'Eternel jugera les extrémités de la terre. Il donnera la puissance à son roi, Et il relèvera la force de son oint.
10יהוה יחתו מריבו עלו בשמים ירעם יהוה ידין אפסי ארץ ויתן עז למלכו וירם קרן משיחו׃
11And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto Jehovah before Eli the priest.
11Elkana s'en alla dans sa maison à Rama, et l'enfant fut au service de l'Eternel devant le sacrificateur Eli.
11וילך אלקנה הרמתה על ביתו והנער היה משרת את יהוה את פני עלי הכהן׃
12Now the sons of Eli were base men; they knew not Jehovah.
12Les fils d'Eli étaient des hommes pervers, ils ne connaissaient point l'Eternel.
12ובני עלי בני בליעל לא ידעו את יהוה׃
13And the custom of the priests with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was boiling, with a flesh-hook of three teeth in his hand;
13Et voici quelle était la manière d'agir de ces sacrificateurs à l'égard du peuple. Lorsque quelqu'un offrait un sacrifice, le serviteur du sacrificateur arrivait au moment où l'on faisait cuire la chair. Tenant à la main une fourchette à trois dents,
13ומשפט הכהנים את העם כל איש זבח זבח ובא נער הכהן כבשל הבשר והמזלג שלש השנים בידו׃
14and he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the flesh-hook brought up the priest took therewith. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.
14il piquait dans la chaudière, dans le chaudron, dans la marmite, ou dans le pot; et tout ce que la fourchette amenait, le sacrificateur le prenait pour lui. C'est ainsi qu'ils agissaient à l'égard de tous ceux d'Israël qui venaient là à Silo.
14והכה בכיור או בדוד או בקלחת או בפרור כל אשר יעלה המזלג יקח הכהן בו ככה יעשו לכל ישראל הבאים שם בשלה׃
15Yea, before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have boiled flesh of thee, but raw.
15Même avant qu'on fît brûler la graisse, le serviteur du sacrificateur arrivait et disait à celui qui offrait le sacrifice: Donne pour le sacrificateur de la chair à rôtir; il ne recevra de toi point de chair cuite, c'est de la chair crue qu'il veut.
15גם בטרם יקטרון את החלב ובא נער הכהן ואמר לאיש הזבח תנה בשר לצלות לכהן ולא יקח ממך בשר מבשל כי אם חי׃
16And if the man said unto him, They will surely burn the fat first, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would say, Nay, but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.
16Et si l'homme lui disait: Quand on aura brûlé la graisse, tu prendras ce qui te plaira, le serviteur répondait: Non! tu donneras maintenant, sinon je prends de force.
16ויאמר אליו האיש קטר יקטירון כיום החלב וקח לך כאשר תאוה נפשך ואמר לו כי עתה תתן ואם לא לקחתי בחזקה׃
17And the sin of the young men was very great before Jehovah; for the men despised the offering of Jehovah.
17Ces jeunes gens se rendaient coupables devant l'Eternel d'un très grand péché, parce qu'ils méprisaient les offrandes de l'Eternel.
17ותהי חטאת הנערים גדולה מאד את פני יהוה כי נאצו האנשים את מנחת יהוה׃
18But Samuel ministered before Jehovah, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.
18Samuel faisait le service devant l'Eternel, et cet enfant était revêtu d'un éphod de lin.
18ושמואל משרת את פני יהוה נער חגור אפוד בד׃
19Moreover his mother made him a little robe, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
19Sa mère lui faisait chaque année une petite robe, et la lui apportait en montant avec son mari pour offrir le sacrifice annuel.
19ומעיל קטן תעשה לו אמו והעלתה לו מימים ימימה בעלותה את אישה לזבח את זבח הימים׃
20And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, Jehovah give thee seed of this woman for the petition which was asked of Jehovah. And they went unto their own home.
20Eli bénit Elkana et sa femme, en disant: Que l'Eternel te fasse avoir des enfants de cette femme, pour remplacer celui qu'elle a prêté à l'Eternel! Et ils s'en retournèrent chez eux.
20וברך עלי את אלקנה ואת אשתו ואמר ישם יהוה לך זרע מן האשה הזאת תחת השאלה אשר שאל ליהוה והלכו למקמו׃
21And Jehovah visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before Jehovah.
21Lorsque l'Eternel eut visité Anne, elle devint enceinte, et elle enfanta trois fils et deux filles. Et le jeune Samuel grandissait auprès de l'Eternel.
21כי פקד יהוה את חנה ותהר ותלד שלשה בנים ושתי בנות ויגדל הנער שמואל עם יהוה׃
22Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons did unto all Israel, and how that they lay with the women that did service at the door of the tent of meeting.
22Eli était fort âgé et il apprit comment ses fils agissaient à l'égard de tout Israël; il apprit aussi qu'ils couchaient avec les femmes qui s'assemblaient à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation.
22ועלי זקן מאד ושמע את כל אשר יעשון בניו לכל ישראל ואת אשר ישכבון את הנשים הצבאות פתח אהל מועד׃
23And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings from all this people.
23Il leur dit: Pourquoi faites-vous de telles choses? car j'apprends de tout le peuple vos mauvaises actions.
23ויאמר להם למה תעשון כדברים האלה אשר אנכי שמע את דבריכם רעים מאת כל העם אלה׃
24Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make Jehovah's people to transgress.
24Non, mes enfants, ce que j'entends dire n'est pas bon; vous faites pécher le peuple de l'Eternel.
24אל בני כי לוא טובה השמעה אשר אנכי שמע מעברים עם יהוה׃
25If one man sin against another, God shall judge him; but if a man sin against Jehovah, who shall entreat for him? Notwithstanding, they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because Jehovah was minded to slay them.
25Si un homme pèche contre un autre homme, Dieu le jugera; mais s'il pèche contre l'Eternel, qui intercédera pour lui? Et ils n'écoutèrent point la voix de leur père, car l'Eternel voulait les faire mourir.
25אם יחטא איש לאיש ופללו אלהים ואם ליהוה יחטא איש מי יתפלל לו ולא ישמעו לקול אביהם כי חפץ יהוה להמיתם׃
26And the child Samuel grew on, and increased in favor both with Jehovah, and also with men.
26Le jeune Samuel continuait à grandir, et il était agréable à l'Eternel et aux hommes.
26והנער שמואל הלך וגדל וטוב גם עם יהוה וגם עם אנשים׃
27And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Did I reveal myself unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt [in bondage] to Pharaoh's house?
27Un homme de Dieu vint auprès d'Eli, et lui dit: Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Ne me suis-je pas révélé à la maison de ton père, lorsqu'ils étaient en Egypte dans la maison de Pharaon?
27ויבא איש אלהים אל עלי ויאמר אליו כה אמר יהוה הנגלה נגליתי אל בית אביך בהיותם במצרים לבית פרעה׃
28and did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up unto mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire?
28Je l'ai choisie parmi toutes les tribus d'Israël pour être à mon service dans le sacerdoce, pour monter à mon autel, pour brûler le parfum, pour porter l'éphod devant moi, et j'ai donné à la maison de ton père tous les sacrifices consumés par le feu et offerts par les enfants d'Israël.
28ובחר אתו מכל שבטי ישראל לי לכהן לעלות על מזבחי להקטיר קטרת לשאת אפוד לפני ואתנה לבית אביך את כל אשי בני ישראל׃
29Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in [my] habitation, and honorest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?
29Pourquoi foulez-vous aux pieds mes sacrifices et mes offrandes, que j'ai ordonné de faire dans ma demeure? Et d'où vient que tu honores tes fils plus que moi, afin de vous engraisser des prémices de toutes les offrandes d'Israël, mon peuple?
29למה תבעטו בזבחי ובמנחתי אשר צויתי מעון ותכבד את בניך ממני להבריאכם מראשית כל מנחת ישראל לעמי׃
30Therefore Jehovah, the God of Israel, saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now Jehovah saith, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
30C'est pourquoi voici ce que dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël: J'avais déclaré que ta maison et la maison de ton père marcheraient devant moi à perpétuité. Et maintenant, dit l'Eternel, loin de moi! Car j'honorerai celui qui m'honore, mais ceux qui me méprisent seront méprisés.
30לכן נאם יהוה אלהי ישראל אמור אמרתי ביתך ובית אביך יתהלכו לפני עד עולם ועתה נאם יהוה חלילה לי כי מכבדי אכבד ובזי יקלו׃
31Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thy house.
31Voici, le temps arrive où je retrancherai ton bras et le bras de la maison de ton père, en sorte qu'il n'y aura plus de vieillard dans ta maison.
31הנה ימים באים וגדעתי את זרעך ואת זרע בית אביך מהיות זקן בביתך׃
32And thou shalt behold the affliction of [my] habitation, in all the wealth which [God] shall give Israel; and there shall not be an old man in thy house for ever.
32Tu verras un adversaire dans ma demeure, tandis qu'Israël sera comblé de biens par l'Eternel; et il n'y aura plus jamais de vieillard dans ta maison.
32והבטת צר מעון בכל אשר ייטיב את ישראל ולא יהיה זקן בביתך כל הימים׃
33And the man of thine, [whom] I shall not cut off from mine altar, [shall be] to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thy heart; and all the increase of thy house shall die in the flower of their age.
33Je laisserai subsister auprès de mon autel l'un des tiens, afin de consumer tes yeux et d'attrister ton âme; mais tous ceux de ta maison mourront dans la force de l'âge.
33ואיש לא אכרית לך מעם מזבחי לכלות את עיניך ולאדיב את נפשך וכל מרבית ביתך ימותו אנשים׃
34And this shall be the sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die both of them.
34Et tu auras pour signe ce qui arrivera à tes deux fils, Hophni et Phinées; ils mourront tous les deux le même jour.
34וזה לך האות אשר יבא אל שני בניך אל חפני ופינחס ביום אחד ימותו שניהם׃
35And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in my heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
35Je m'établirai un sacrificateur fidèle, qui agira selon mon coeur et selon mon âme; je lui bâtirai une maison stable, et il marchera toujours devant mon oint.
35והקימתי לי כהן נאמן כאשר בלבבי ובנפשי יעשה ובניתי לו בית נאמן והתהלך לפני משיחי כל הימים׃
36And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thy house shall come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
36Et quiconque restera de ta maison viendra se prosterner devant lui pour avoir une pièce d'argent et un morceau de pain, et dira: Attache-moi, je te prie, à l'une des fonctions du sacerdoce, afin que j'aie un morceau de pain à manger.
36והיה כל הנותר בביתך יבוא להשתחות לו לאגורת כסף וככר לחם ואמר ספחני נא אל אחת הכהנות לאכל פת לחם׃
