¹Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace.

¹Paul, et Silvain, et Timothée, à l'Eglise des Thessaloniciens, qui est en Dieu le Père et en Jésus-Christ le Seigneur: que la grâce et la paix vous soient données!

¹פולוס וסלונוס וטימותיוס אל קהלת התסלוניקים באלהים האב ובאדון ישוע המשיח חסד לכם ושלום מאת אלהים אבינו ואדנינו ישוע המשיח׃

²We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention [of you] in our prayers;

²Nous rendons continuellement grâces à Dieu pour vous tous, faisant mention de vous dans nos prières,

²נודה לאלהים על כלכם בכל עת בהזכיר אתכם בתפלותינו׃

³remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;

³nous rappelant sans cesse l'oeuvre de votre foi, le travail de votre charité, et la fermeté de votre espérance en notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, devant Dieu notre Père.

³בזכרנו תמיד לפני האלהים אבינו את פעל אמונתכם ויגיעת אהבתכם וסבלנות תקותכם לאדנינו ישוע המשיח׃

⁴knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election,

⁴Nous savons, frères bien-aimés de Dieu, que vous avez été élus,

⁴כי ידענו אחי חביבי האלהים את אשר נבחרתם׃

⁵how that our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and [in] much assurance; even as ye know what manner of men we showed ourselves toward you for your sake.

⁵notre Evangile ne vous ayant pas été prêché en paroles seulement, mais avec puissance, avec l'Esprit Saint, et avec une pleine persuasion; car vous n'ignorez pas que nous nous sommes montrés ainsi parmi vous, à cause de vous.

⁵באשר בשורתנו לא היתה לכם בדבור לבד כי גם בגבורה וברוח הקדש ובדעת נאמנה מאד כאשר ידעתם גם אתם את אשר היינו בתוככם למענכם׃

⁶And ye became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit;

⁶Et vous-mêmes, vous avez été mes imitateurs et ceux du Seigneur, en recevant la parole au milieu de beaucoup de tribulations, avec la joie du Saint Esprit,

⁶ואתם הייתם הלכים בעקבותינו ובעקבות אדנינו בקבלכם את הדבר בתוך עני רב עם חדות רוח הקדש׃

⁷so that ye became an ensample to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.

⁷en sorte que vous êtes devenus un modèle pour tous les croyants de la Macédoine et de l'Achaïe.

⁷עד היותכם מופת לכל המאמינים אשר במקדוניא ובאכיא׃

⁸For from you hath sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but in every place your faith to God-ward is gone forth; so that we need not to speak anything.

⁸Non seulement, en effet, la parole du Seigneur a retenti de chez vous dans la Macédoine et dans l'Achaïe, mais votre foi en Dieu s'est fait connaître en tout lieu, de telle manière que nous n'avons pas besoin d'en parler.

⁸כי מאתכם נשמע קול דבר יהוה לא לבד במקדוניא ואכיא כי אם בכל מקום יצאה אמונתכם באלהים עד שאין לנו צרך לדבר דבר׃

⁹For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how ye turned unto God from idols, to serve a living and true God,

⁹Car on raconte, à notre sujet, quel accès nous avons eu auprès de vous, et comment vous vous êtes convertis à Dieu, en abandonnant les idoles pour servir le Dieu vivant et vrai,

⁹כי פיהם המספר מה היה מבואנו אליכם ואיך פניתם מעבודת אלילים ושבתם לאלהים לעבד את אל חי ואמתי׃

¹⁰and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, who delivereth us from the wrath to come.

¹⁰et pour attendre des cieux son Fils, qu'il a ressuscité des morts, Jésus, qui nous délivre de la colère à venir.

¹⁰ולחכות לבנו מן השמים אשר העירו מן המתים לישוע מצילנו מן החרון הבא׃
