1Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old; and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.
1Ezéchias devint roi à l'âge de vingt-cinq ans, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Abija, fille de Zacharie.
1יחזקיהו מלך בן עשרים וחמש שנה ועשרים ותשע שנה מלך בירושלם ושם אמו אביה בת זכריהו׃
2And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father had done.
2Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel, entièrement comme avait fait David, son père.
2ויעש הישר בעיני יהוה ככל אשר עשה דויד אביו׃
3He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of Jehovah, and repaired them.
3La première année de son règne, au premier mois, il ouvrit les portes de la maison de l'Eternel, et il les répara.
3הוא בשנה הראשונה למלכו בחדש הראשון פתח את דלתות בית יהוה ויחזקם׃
4And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the broad place on the east,
4Il fit venir les sacrificateurs et les Lévites, qu'il assembla dans la place orientale,
4ויבא את הכהנים ואת הלוים ויאספם לרחוב המזרח׃
5and said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites; now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of Jehovah, the God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.
5et il leur dit: Ecoutez-moi, Lévites! Maintenant sanctifiez-vous, sanctifiez la maison de l'Eternel, le Dieu de vos pères, et mettez ce qui est impur hors du sanctuaire.
5ויאמר להם שמעוני הלוים עתה התקדשו וקדשו את בית יהוה אלהי אבתיכם והוציאו את הנדה מן הקדש׃
6For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Jehovah, and turned their backs.
6Car nos pères ont péché, ils ont fait ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, notre Dieu, ils l'ont abandonné, ils ont détourné leurs regards du tabernacle de l'Eternel et lui ont tourné le dos.
6כי מעלו אבתינו ועשו הרע בעיני יהוה אלהינו ויעזבהו ויסבו פניהם ממשכן יהוה ויתנו ערף׃
7Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt-offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.
7Ils ont même fermé les portes du portique et éteint les lampes, et ils n'ont offert au Dieu d'Israël ni parfums ni holocaustes dans le sanctuaire.
7גם סגרו דלתות האולם ויכבו את הנרות וקטרת לא הקטירו ועלה לא העלו בקדש לאלהי ישראל׃
8Wherefore the wrath of Jehovah was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to be tossed to and fro, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
8Aussi la colère de l'Eternel a été sur Juda et sur Jérusalem, et il les a livrés au trouble, à la désolation et à la moquerie, comme vous le voyez de vos yeux.
8ויהי קצף יהוה על יהודה וירושלם ויתנם לזועה לשמה ולשרקה כאשר אתם ראים בעיניכם׃
9For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
9Et voici, à cause de cela nos pères sont tombés par l'épée, et nos fils, nos filles et nos femmes sont en captivité.
9והנה נפלו אבותינו בחרב ובנינו ובנותינו ונשינו בשבי על זאת׃
10Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Jehovah, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us.
10J'ai donc l'intention de faire alliance avec l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, pour que son ardente colère se détourne de nous.
10עתה עם לבבי לכרות ברית ליהוה אלהי ישראל וישב ממנו חרון אפו׃
11My sons, be not now negligent; for Jehovah hath chosen you to stand before him, to minister unto him, and that ye should be his ministers, and burn incense.
11Maintenant, mes fils, cessez d'être négligents; car vous avez été choisis par l'Eternel pour vous tenir à son service devant lui, pour être ses serviteurs, et pour lui offrir des parfums.
11בני עתה אל תשלו כי בכם בחר יהוה לעמד לפניו לשרתו ולהיות לו משרתים ומקטרים׃
12Then the Levites arose, Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;
12Et les Lévites se levèrent: Machath, fils d'Amasaï, Joël, fils d'Azaria, des fils des Kehathites; et des fils des Merarites, Kis, fils d'Abdi, Azaria, fils de Jehalléleel; et des Guerschonites, Joach, fils de Zimma, Eden, fils de Joach;
12ויקמו הלוים מחת בן עמשי ויואל בן עזריהו מן בני הקהתי ומן בני מררי קיש בן עבדי ועזריהו בן יהללאל ומן הגרשני יואח בן זמה ועדן בן יואח׃
13and of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah;
13et des fils d'Elitsaphan, Schimri et Jeïel; et des fils d'Asaph, Zacharie et Matthania;
13ומן בני אליצפן שמרי ויעואל ומן בני אסף זכריהו ומתניהו׃
14and of the sons of Heman, Jehuel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel.
14et des fils d'Héman, Jehiel et Schimeï; et des fils de Jeduthun, Schemaeja et Uzziel.
14ומן בני הימן יחואל ושמעי ומן בני ידותון שמעיה ועזיאל׃
15And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by the words of Jehovah, to cleanse the house of Jehovah.
15Ils réunirent leurs frères, et, après s'être sanctifiés, ils vinrent pour purifier la maison de l'Eternel, selon l'ordre du roi et d'après les paroles de l'Eternel.
15ויאספו את אחיהם ויתקדשו ויבאו כמצות המלך בדברי יהוה לטהר בית יהוה׃
16And the priests went in unto the inner part of the house of Jehovah, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of Jehovah into the court of the house of Jehovah. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook Kidron.
16Les sacrificateurs entrèrent dans l'intérieur de la maison de l'Eternel pour la purifier; ils sortirent toutes les impuretés qu'ils trouvèrent dans le temple de l'Eternel et les mirent dans le parvis de la maison de l'Eternel, où les Lévites les reçurent pour les emporter dehors au torrent de Cédron.
16ויבאו הכהנים לפנימה בית יהוה לטהר ויוציאו את כל הטמאה אשר מצאו בהיכל יהוה לחצר בית יהוה ויקבלו הלוים להוציא לנחל קדרון חוצה׃
17Now they began on the first [day] of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of Jehovah; and they sanctified the house of Jehovah in eight days: and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
17Ils commencèrent ces purifications le premier jour du premier mois; le huitième jour du mois, ils entrèrent dans le portique de l'Eternel, et ils mirent huit jours à purifier la maison de l'Eternel; le seizième jour du premier mois, ils avaient achevé.
17ויחלו באחד לחדש הראשון לקדש וביום שמונה לחדש באו לאולם יהוה ויקדשו את בית יהוה לימים שמונה וביום ששה עשר לחדש הראשון כלו׃
18Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within [the palace], and said, We have cleansed all the house of Jehovah, and the altar of burnt-offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the table of showbread, with all the vessels thereof.
18Ils se rendirent ensuite chez le roi Ezéchias, et dirent: Nous avons purifié toute la maison de l'Eternel, l'autel des holocaustes et tous ses ustensiles, et la table des pains de proposition et tous ses ustensiles.
18ויבואו פנימה אל חזקיהו המלך ויאמרו טהרנו את כל בית יהוה את מזבח העולה ואת כל כליו ואת שלחן המערכת ואת כל כליו׃
19Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away when he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctified; and, behold, they are before the altar of Jehovah.
19Nous avons remis en état et purifié tous les ustensiles que le roi Achaz avait profanés pendant son règne, lors de ses transgressions: ils sont devant l'autel de l'Eternel.
19ואת כל הכלים אשר הזניח המלך אחז במלכותו במעלו הכנו והקדשנו והנם לפני מזבח יהוה׃
20Then Hezekiah the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to the house of Jehovah.
20Le roi Ezéchias se leva de bon matin, assembla les chefs de la ville, et monta à la maison de l'Eternel.
20וישכם יחזקיהו המלך ויאסף את שרי העיר ויעל בית יהוה׃
21And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he-goats, for a sin-offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Jehovah.
21Ils offrirent sept taureaux, sept béliers, sept agneaux et sept boucs, en sacrifice d'expiation pour le royaume, pour le sanctuaire, et pour Juda. Le roi ordonna aux sacrificateurs, fils d'Aaron, de les offrir sur l'autel de l'Eternel.
21ויביאו פרים שבעה ואילים שבעה וכבשים שבעה וצפירי עזים שבעה לחטאת על הממלכה ועל המקדש ועל יהודה ויאמר לבני אהרן הכהנים להעלות על מזבח יהוה׃
22So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood upon the altar.
22Les sacrificateurs égorgèrent les boeufs, et reçurent le sang, qu'ils répandirent sur l'autel; ils égorgèrent les béliers, et répandirent le sang sur l'autel; ils égorgèrent les agneaux, et répandirent le sang sur l'autel.
22וישחטו הבקר ויקבלו הכהנים את הדם ויזרקו המזבחה וישחטו האלים ויזרקו הדם המזבחה וישחטו הכבשים ויזרקו הדם המזבחה׃
23And they brought near the he-goats for the sin-offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands upon them:
23On amena ensuite les boucs expiatoires devant le roi et devant l'assemblée, qui posèrent leurs mains sur eux.
23ויגישו את שעירי החטאת לפני המלך והקהל ויסמכו ידיהם עליהם׃
24and the priests killed them, and they made a sin-offering with their blood upon the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded [that] the burnt-offering and the sin-offering [should be made] for all Israel.
24Les sacrificateurs les égorgèrent, et répandirent leur sang au pied de l'autel en expiation pour les péchés de tout Israël; car c'était pour tout Israël que le roi avait ordonné l'holocauste et le sacrifice d'expiation.
24וישחטום הכהנים ויחטאו את דמם המזבחה לכפר על כל ישראל כי לכל ישראל אמר המלך העולה והחטאת׃
25And he set the Levites in the house of Jehovah with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was of Jehovah by his prophets.
25Il fit placer les Lévites dans la maison de l'Eternel avec des cymbales, des luths et des harpes, selon l'ordre de David, de Gad le voyant du roi, et de Nathan, le prophète; car c'était un ordre de l'Eternel, transmis par ses prophètes.
25ויעמד את הלוים בית יהוה במצלתים בנבלים ובכנרות במצות דויד וגד חזה המלך ונתן הנביא כי ביד יהוה המצוה ביד נביאיו׃
26And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
26Les Lévites prirent place avec les instruments de David, et les sacrificateurs avec les trompettes.
26ויעמדו הלוים בכלי דויד והכהנים בחצצרות׃
27And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt-offering upon the altar. And when the burnt-offering began, the song of Jehovah began also, and the trumpets, together with the instruments of David king of Israel.
27Ezéchias ordonna d'offrir l'holocauste sur l'autel; et au moment où commença l'holocauste, commença aussi le chant de l'Eternel, au son des trompettes et avec accompagnement des instruments de David, roi d'Israël.
27ויאמר חזקיהו להעלות העלה להמזבח ובעת החל העולה החל שיר יהוה והחצצרות ועל ידי כלי דויד מלך ישראל׃
28And all the assembly worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this [continued] until the burnt-offering was finished.
28Toute l'assemblée se prosterna, on chanta le cantique, et l'on sonna des trompettes, le tout jusqu'à ce que l'holocauste fût achevé.
28וכל הקהל משתחוים והשיר משורר והחצצרות מחצצרים הכל עד לכלות העלה׃
29And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves and worshipped.
29Et quand on eut achevé d'offrir l'holocauste, le roi et tous ceux qui étaient avec lui fléchirent le genou et se prosternèrent.
29וככלות להעלות כרעו המלך וכל הנמצאים אתו וישתחוו׃
30Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises unto Jehovah with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.
30Puis le roi Ezéchias et les chefs dirent aux Lévites de célébrer l'Eternel avec les paroles de David et du prophète Asaph; et ils le célébrèrent avec des transports de joie, et ils s'inclinèrent et se prosternèrent.
30ויאמר יחזקיהו המלך והשרים ללוים להלל ליהוה בדברי דויד ואסף החזה ויהללו עד לשמחה ויקדו וישתחוו׃
31Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto Jehovah; come near and bring sacrifices and thank-offerings into the house of Jehovah. And the assembly brought in sacrifices and thank-offerings; and as many as were of a willing heart [brought] burnt-offerings.
31Ezéchias prit alors la parole, et dit: Maintenant que vous vous êtes consacrés à l'Eternel, approchez-vous, amenez des victimes et offrez en sacrifices d'actions de grâces à la maison de l'Eternel. Et l'assemblée amena des victimes et offrit des sacrifices d'actions de grâces, et tous ceux dont le coeur était bien disposé offrirent des holocaustes.
31ויען יחזקיהו ויאמר עתה מלאתם ידכם ליהוה גשו והביאו זבחים ותודות לבית יהוה ויביאו הקהל זבחים ותודות וכל נדיב לב עלות׃
32And the number of the burnt-offerings which the assembly brought was threescore and ten bullocks, a hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt-offering to Jehovah.
32Le nombre des holocaustes offerts par l'assemblée fut de soixante-dix boeufs, cent béliers, et deux cents agneaux; toutes ces victimes furent immolées en holocauste à l'Eternel.
32ויהי מספר העלה אשר הביאו הקהל בקר שבעים אילים מאה כבשים מאתים לעלה ליהוה כל אלה׃
33And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
33Et l'on consacra encore six cents boeufs et trois mille brebis.
33והקדשים בקר שש מאות וצאן שלשת אלפים׃
34But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt-offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
34Mais les sacrificateurs étaient en petit nombre, et ils ne purent dépouiller tous les holocaustes; leurs frères, les Lévites, les aidèrent jusqu'à ce que l'ouvrage fût fini, et jusqu'à ce que les autres sacrificateurs se fussent sanctifiés, car les Lévites avaient eu plus à coeur de se sanctifier que les sacrificateurs.
34רק הכהנים היו למעט ולא יכלו להפשיט את כל העלות ויחזקום אחיהם הלוים עד כלות המלאכה ועד יתקדשו הכהנים כי הלוים ישרי לבב להתקדש מהכהנים׃
35And also the burnt-offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace-offerings, and with the drink-offerings for every burnt-offering. So the service of the house of Jehovah was set in order.
35Il y avait d'ailleurs beaucoup d'holocaustes, avec les graisses des sacrifices d'actions de grâces, et avec les libations des holocaustes. Ainsi fut rétabli le service de la maison de l'Eternel.
35וגם עלה לרב בחלבי השלמים ובנסכים לעלה ותכון עבודת בית יהוה׃
36And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
36Ezéchias et tout le peuple se réjouirent de ce que Dieu avait bien disposé le peuple, car la chose se fit subitement.
36וישמח יחזקיהו וכל העם על ההכין האלהים לעם כי בפתאם היה הדבר׃
