1And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great train, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.
1La reine de Séba apprit la renommée de Salomon, et elle vint à Jérusalem pour l'éprouver par des énigmes. Elle avait une suite fort nombreuse, et des chameaux portant des aromates, de l'or en grande quantité et des pierres précieuses. Elle se rendit auprès de Salomon, et elle lui dit tout ce qu'elle avait dans le coeur.
1ומלכת שבא שמעה את שמע שלמה ותבוא לנסות את שלמה בחידות בירושלם בחיל כבד מאד וגמלים נשאים בשמים וזהב לרב ואבן יקרה ותבוא אל שלמה ותדבר עמו את כל אשר היה עם לבבה׃
2And Solomon told her all her questions; and there was not anything hid from Solomon which he told her not.
2Salomon répondit à toutes ses questions, et il n'y eut rien que Salomon ne sût lui expliquer.
2ויגד לה שלמה את כל דבריה ולא נעלם דבר משלמה אשר לא הגיד לה׃
3And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
3La reine de Séba vit la sagesse de Salomon, et la maison qu'il avait bâtie,
3ותרא מלכת שבא את חכמת שלמה והבית אשר בנה׃
4and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, his cupbearers also, and their apparel, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of Jehovah; there was no more spirit in her.
4et les mets de sa table, et la demeure de ses serviteurs, et les fonctions et les vêtements de ceux qui le servaient, et ses échansons et leurs vêtements, et les degrés par lesquels on montait à la maison de l'Eternel. Hors d'elle-même,
4ומאכל שלחנו ומושב עבדיו ומעמד משרתיו ומלבושיהם ומשקיו ומלבושיהם ועליתו אשר יעלה בית יהוה ולא היה עוד בה רוח׃
5And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom.
5elle dit au roi: C'était donc vrai ce que j'ai appris dans mon pays au sujet de ta position et de ta sagesse!
5ותאמר אל המלך אמת הדבר אשר שמעתי בארצי על דבריך ועל חכמתך׃
6Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it; and, behold, the half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: thou exceedest the fame that I heard.
6Je ne croyais pas ce qu'on en disait, avant d'être venue et d'avoir vu de mes yeux. Et voici, on ne m'a pas raconté la moitié de la grandeur de ta sagesse. Tu surpasses ce que la renommée m'a fait connaître.
6ולא האמנתי לדבריהם עד אשר באתי ותראינה עיני והנה לא הגד לי חצי מרבית חכמתך יספת על השמועה אשר שמעתי׃
7Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, that stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.
7Heureux tes gens, heureux tes serviteurs, qui sont continuellement devant toi et qui entendent ta sagesse!
7אשרי אנשיך ואשרי עבדיך אלה העמדים לפניך תמיד ושמעים את חכמתך׃
8Blessed be Jehovah thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on his throne, to be king for Jehovah thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do justice and righteousness.
8Béni soit l'Eternel, ton Dieu, qui t'a accordé la faveur de te placer sur son trône comme roi pour l'Eternel, ton Dieu! C'est parce que ton Dieu aime Israël et veut le faire subsister à toujours, qu'il t'a établi roi sur lui pour que tu fasses droit et justice.
8יהי יהוה אלהיך ברוך אשר חפץ בך לתתך על כסאו למלך ליהוה אלהיך באהבת אלהיך את ישראל להעמידו לעולם ויתנך עליהם למלך לעשות משפט וצדקה׃
9And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.
9Elle donna au roi cent vingt talents d'or, une très grande quantité d'aromates et des pierres précieuses. Il n'y eut plus d'aromates tels que ceux donnés au roi Salomon par la reine de Séba.
9ותתן למלך מאה ועשרים ככר זהב ובשמים לרב מאד ואבן יקרה ולא היה כבשם ההוא אשר נתנה מלכת שבא למלך שלמה׃
10And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, that brought gold from Ophir, brought algum-trees and precious stones.
10Les serviteurs de Huram et les serviteurs de Salomon, qui apportèrent de l'or d'Ophir, amenèrent aussi du bois de sandal et des pierres précieuses.
10וגם עבדי חירם ועבדי שלמה אשר הביאו זהב מאופיר הביאו עצי אלגומים ואבן יקרה׃
11And the king made of the algum-trees terraces for the house of Jehovah, and for the king's house, and harps and psalteries for the singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.
11Le roi fit avec le bois de sandal des escaliers pour la maison de l'Eternel et pour la maison du roi, et des harpes et des luths pour les chantres. On n'en avait pas vu de semblable auparavant dans le pays de Juda.
11ויעש המלך את עצי האלגומים מסלות לבית יהוה ולבית המלך וכנרות ונבלים לשרים ולא נראו כהם לפנים בארץ יהודה׃
12And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, besides that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went to her own land, she and her servants.
12Le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Séba tout ce qu'elle désira, ce qu'elle demanda, plus qu'elle n'avait apporté au roi. Puis elle s'en retourna et alla dans son pays, elle et ses serviteurs.
12והמלך שלמה נתן למלכת שבא את כל חפצה אשר שאלה מלבד אשר הביאה אל המלך ותהפך ותלך לארצה היא ועבדיה׃
13Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold,
13Le poids de l'or qui arrivait chaque année à Salomon était de six cent soixante-six talents d'or,
13ויהי משקל הזהב אשר בא לשלמה בשנה אחת שש מאות וששים ושש ככרי זהב׃
14besides that which the traders and merchants brought: and all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.
14outre ce qu'il retirait des négociants et des marchands qui en apportaient, de tous les rois d'Arabie et des gouverneurs du pays, qui apportaient de l'or et de l'argent à Salomon.
14לבד מאנשי התרים והסחרים מביאים וכל מלכי ערב ופחות הארץ מביאים זהב וכסף לשלמה׃
15And king Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred [shekels] of beaten gold went to one buckler.
15Le roi Salomon fit deux cents grands boucliers d'or battu, pour chacun desquels il employa six cents sicles d'or battu,
15ויעש המלך שלמה מאתים צנה זהב שחוט שש מאות זהב שחוט יעלה על הצנה האחת׃
16And [he made] three hundred shields of beaten gold; three hundred [shekels] of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
16et trois cents autres boucliers d'or battu, pour chacun desquels il employa trois cents sicles d'or; et le roi les mit dans la maison de la forêt du Liban.
16ושלש מאות מגנים זהב שחוט שלש מאות זהב יעלה על המגן האחת ויתנם המלך בבית יער הלבנון׃
17Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.
17Le roi fit un grand trône d'ivoire, et le couvrit d'or pur.
17ויעש המלך כסא שן גדול ויצפהו זהב טהור׃
18nd there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.
18Ce trône avait six degrés, et un marchepied d'or attenant au trône; il y avait des bras de chaque côté du siège; deux lions étaient près des bras,
18ושש מעלות לכסא וכבש בזהב לכסא מאחזים וידות מזה ומזה על מקום השבת ושנים אריות עמדים אצל הידות׃
19And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.
19et douze lions sur les six degrés de part et d'autre. Il ne s'est rien fait de pareil pour aucun royaume.
19ושנים עשר אריות עמדים שם על שש המעלות מזה ומזה לא נעשה כן לכל ממלכה׃
20And all king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: silver was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.
20Toutes les coupes du roi Salomon étaient d'or, et toute la vaisselle de la maison de la forêt du Liban était d'or pur. Rien n'était d'argent: on n'en faisait aucun cas du temps de Salomon.
20וכל כלי משקה המלך שלמה זהב וכל כלי בית יער הלבנון זהב סגור אין כסף נחשב בימי שלמה למאומה׃
21For the king had ships that went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years came the ships of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
21Car le roi avait des navires de Tarsis naviguant avec les serviteurs de Huram; et tous les trois ans arrivaient les navires de Tarsis, apportant de l'or et de l'argent, de l'ivoire, des singes et des paons.
21כי אניות למלך הלכות תרשיש עם עבדי חורם אחת לשלוש שנים תבואנה אניות תרשיש נשאות זהב וכסף שנהבים וקופים ותוכיים׃
22So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
22Le roi Salomon fut plus grand que tous les rois de la terre par les richesses et par la sagesse.
22ויגדל המלך שלמה מכל מלכי הארץ לעשר וחכמה׃
23And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
23Tous les rois de la terre cherchaient à voir Salomon, pour entendre la sagesse que Dieu avait mise dans son coeur.
23וכל מלכי הארץ מבקשים את פני שלמה לשמע את חכמתו אשר נתן האלהים בלבו׃
24And they brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
24Et chacun d'eux apportait son présent, des objets d'argent et des objets d'or, des vêtements, des armes, des aromates, des chevaux et des mulets; et il en était ainsi chaque année.
24והם מביאים איש מנחתו כלי כסף וכלי זהב ושלמות נשק ובשמים סוסים ופרדים דבר שנה בשנה׃
25And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
25Salomon avait quatre mille crèches pour les chevaux destinés à ses chars, et douze mille cavaliers qu'il plaça dans les villes où il tenait ses chars et à Jérusalem près du roi.
25ויהי לשלמה ארבעת אלפים אריות סוסים ומרכבות ושנים עשר אלף פרשים ויניחם בערי הרכב ועם המלך בירושלם׃
26And he ruled over all the kings from the River even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.
26Il dominait sur tous les rois, depuis le fleuve jusqu'au pays des Philistins et jusqu'à la frontière d'Egypte.
26ויהי מושל בכל המלכים מן הנהר ועד ארץ פלשתים ועד גבול מצרים׃
27And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore-trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.
27Le roi rendit l'argent aussi commun à Jérusalem que les pierres, et les cèdres aussi nombreux que les sycomores qui croissent dans la plaine.
27ויתן המלך את הכסף בירושלם כאבנים ואת הארזים נתן כשקמים אשר בשפלה לרב׃
28And they brought horses for Solomon out of Egypt, and out of all lands.
28C'était de l'Egypte et de tous les pays que l'on tirait des chevaux pour Salomon.
28ומוציאים סוסים ממצרים לשלמה ומכל הארצות׃
29Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
29Le reste des actions de Salomon, les premières et les dernières, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre de Nathan, le prophète, dans la prophétie d'Achija de Silo, et dans les révélations de Jéedo, le prophète sur Jéroboam, fils de Nebath?
29ושאר דברי שלמה הראשנים והאחרונים הלא הם כתובים על דברי נתן הנביא ועל נבואת אחיה השילוני ובחזות יעדי החזה על ירבעם בן נבט׃
30And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.
30Salomon régna quarante ans à Jérusalem sur tout Israël.
30וימלך שלמה בירושלם על כל ישראל ארבעים שנה׃
31And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
31Puis Salomon se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans la ville de David, son père. Et Roboam, son fils, régna à sa place.
31וישכב שלמה עם אבתיו ויקברהו בעיר דויד אביו וימלך רחבעם בנו תחתיו׃
