¹And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the house of Jehovah, and his own house,

¹ויהי מקץ עשרים שנה אשר בנה שלמה את בית יהוה ואת ביתו׃

²that the cities which Huram had given to Solomon, Solomon built them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.

²il reconstruisit les villes que lui donna Huram et y établit des enfants d'Israël.

²והערים אשר נתן חורם לשלמה בנה שלמה אתם ויושב שם את בני ישראל׃

³And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, and prevailed against it.

³Salomon marcha contre Hamath, vers Tsoba, et s'en empara.

³וילך שלמה חמת צובה ויחזק עליה׃

⁴And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the store-cities, which he built in Hamath.

⁴Il bâtit Thadmor au désert, et toutes les villes servant de magasins en Hamath.

⁴ויבן את תדמר במדבר ואת כל ערי המסכנות אשר בנה בחמת׃

⁵Also he built Beth-horon the upper, and Beth-horon the nether, fortified cities, with walls, gates, and bars;

⁵Il bâtit Beth-Horon la haute et Beth-Horon la basse, villes fortes, ayant des murs, des portes et des barres;

⁵ויבן את בית חורון העליון ואת בית חורון התחתון ערי מצור חומות דלתים ובריח׃

⁶and Baalath, and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and all the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

⁶Baalath, et toutes les villes servant de magasins et lui appartenant, toutes les villes pour les chars, les villes pour la cavalerie, et tout ce qu'il plut à Salomon de bâtir à Jérusalem, au Liban, et dans tout le pays dont il était le souverain.

⁶ואת בעלת ואת כל ערי המסכנות אשר היו לשלמה ואת כל ערי הרכב ואת ערי הפרשים ואת כל חשק שלמה אשר חשק לבנות בירושלם ובלבנון ובכל ארץ ממשלתו׃

⁷As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, that were not of Israel;

⁷Tout le peuple qui était resté des Héthiens, des Amoréens, des Phéréziens, des Héviens et des Jébusiens, ne faisant point partie d'Israël,

⁷כל העם הנותר מן החתי והאמרי והפרזי והחוי והיבוסי אשר לא מישראל המה׃

⁸of their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, of them did Solomon raise a levy [of bondservants] unto this day.

⁸leurs descendants qui étaient restés après eux dans le pays et que les enfants d'Israël n'avaient pas détruits, Salomon les leva comme gens de corvée, ce qu'ils ont été jusqu'à ce jour.

⁸מן בניהם אשר נותרו אחריהם בארץ אשר לא כלום בני ישראל ויעלם שלמה למס עד היום הזה׃

⁹But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

⁹Salomon n'employa comme esclave pour ses travaux aucun des enfants d'Israël; car ils étaient des hommes de guerre, ses chefs, ses officiers, les commandants de ses chars et de sa cavalerie.

⁹ומן בני ישראל אשר לא נתן שלמה לעבדים למלאכתו כי המה אנשי מלחמה ושרי שלישיו ושרי רכבו ופרשיו׃

¹⁰And these were the chief officers of king Solomon, even two hundred and fifty, that bare rule over the people.

¹⁰Les chefs placés par le roi Salomon à la tête du peuple, et chargés de le surveiller, étaient au nombre de deux cent cinquante.

¹⁰ואלה שרי הנציבים אשר למלך שלמה חמשים ומאתים הרדים בעם׃

¹¹And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her; for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of Jehovah hath come.

¹¹Salomon fit monter la fille de Pharaon de la cité de David dans la maison qu'il lui avait bâtie; car il dit: Ma femme n'habitera pas dans la maison de David, roi d'Israël, parce que les lieux où est entrée l'arche de l'Eternel sont saints.

¹¹ואת בת פרעה העלה שלמה מעיר דויד לבית אשר בנה לה כי אמר לא תשב אשה לי בבית דויד מלך ישראל כי קדש המה אשר באה אליהם ארון יהוה׃

¹²Then Solomon offered burnt-offerings unto Jehovah on the altar of Jehovah, which he had built before the porch,

¹²Alors Salomon offrit des holocaustes à l'Eternel sur l'autel de l'Eternel, qu'il avait construit devant le portique.

¹²אז העלה שלמה עלות ליהוה על מזבח יהוה אשר בנה לפני האולם׃

¹³even as the duty of every day required, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts, three times in the year, [even] in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.

¹³Il offrait ce qui était prescrit par Moïse pour chaque jour, pour les sabbats, pour les nouvelles lunes, et pour les fêtes, trois fois l'année, à la fête des pains sans levain, à la fête des semaines, et à la fête des tabernacles.

¹³ובדבר יום ביום להעלות כמצות משה לשבתות ולחדשים ולמועדות שלוש פעמים בשנה בחג המצות ובחג השבעות ובחג הסכות׃

¹⁴And he appointed, according to the ordinance of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their offices, to praise, and to minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required; the doorkeepers also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.

¹⁴Il établit dans leurs fonctions, telles que les avait réglées David, son père, les classes des sacrificateurs selon leur office, les Lévites selon leur charge, consistant à célébrer l'Eternel et à faire jour par jour le service en présence des sacrificateurs, et les portiers distribués à chaque porte d'après leurs classes; car ainsi l'avait ordonné David, homme de Dieu.

¹⁴ויעמד כמשפט דויד אביו את מחלקות הכהנים על עבדתם והלוים על משמרותם להלל ולשרת נגד הכהנים לדבר יום ביומו והשוערים במחלקותם לשער ושער כי כן מצות דויד איש האלהים׃

¹⁵And they departed not from the commandment of the king unto the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.

¹⁵On ne s'écarta point de l'ordre du roi pour les sacrificateurs et les Lévites, ni pour aucune chose, ni pour ce qui concernait les trésors.

¹⁵ולא סרו מצות המלך על הכהנים והלוים לכל דבר ולאצרות׃

¹⁶Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of Jehovah, and until it was finished. [So] the house of Jehovah was completed.

¹⁶Ainsi fut dirigée toute l'oeuvre de Salomon, jusqu'au jour où la maison de l'Eternel fut fondée et jusqu'à celui où elle fut terminée. La maison de l'Eternel fut donc achevée.

¹⁶ותכן כל מלאכת שלמה עד היום מוסד בית יהוה ועד כלתו שלם בית יהוה׃

¹⁷Then went Solomon to Ezion-geber, and to Eloth, on the seashore in the land of Edom.

¹⁷Salomon partit alors pour Etsjon-Guéber et pour Eloth, sur les bords de la mer, dans le pays d'Edom.

¹⁷אז הלך שלמה לעציון גבר ואל אילות על שפת הים בארץ אדום׃

¹⁸And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they came with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and fetched from thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.

¹⁸Et Huram lui envoya par ses serviteurs des navires et des serviteurs connaissant la mer. Ils allèrent avec les serviteurs de Salomon à Ophir, et ils y prirent quatre cent cinquante talents d'or, qu'ils apportèrent au roi Salomon.

¹⁸וישלח לו חורם ביד עבדיו אוניות ועבדים יודעי ים ויבאו עם עבדי שלמה אופירה ויקחו משם ארבע מאות וחמשים ככר זהב ויביאו אל המלך שלמה׃
