¹Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of Jehovah filled the house.

¹Lorsque Salomon eut achevé de prier, le feu descendit du ciel et consuma l'holocauste et les sacrifices, et la gloire de l'Eternel remplit la maison.

¹וככלות שלמה להתפלל והאש ירדה מהשמים ותאכל העלה והזבחים וכבוד יהוה מלא את הבית׃

²And the priests could not enter into the house of Jehovah, because the glory of Jehovah filled Jehovah's house.

²Les sacrificateurs ne pouvaient entrer dans la maison de l'Eternel, car la gloire de l'Eternel remplissait la maison de l'Eternel.

²ולא יכלו הכהנים לבוא אל בית יהוה כי מלא כבוד יהוה את בית יהוה׃

³And all the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the glory of Jehovah was upon the house; and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and gave thanks unto Jehovah, [saying], For he is good; for his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever.

³Tous les enfants d'Israël virent descendre le feu et la gloire de l'Eternel sur la maison; ils s'inclinèrent le visage contre terre sur le pavé, se prosternèrent et louèrent l'Eternel, en disant: Car il est bon, car sa miséricorde dure à toujours!

³וכל בני ישראל ראים ברדת האש וכבוד יהוה על הבית ויכרעו אפים ארצה על הרצפה וישתחוו והודות ליהוה כי טוב כי לעולם חסדו׃

⁴Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before Jehovah.

⁴Le roi et tout le peuple offrirent des sacrifices devant l'Eternel.

⁴והמלך וכל העם זבחים זבח לפני יהוה׃

⁵And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

⁵Le roi Salomon immola vingt-deux mille boeufs et cent vingt mille brebis. Ainsi le roi et tout le peuple firent la dédicace de la maison de Dieu.

⁵ויזבח המלך שלמה את זבח הבקר עשרים ושנים אלף וצאן מאה ועשרים אלף ויחנכו את בית האלהים המלך וכל העם׃

⁶And the priests stood, according to their offices; the Levites also with instruments of music of Jehovah, which David the king had made to give thanks unto Jehovah, (for his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever,) when David praised by their ministry: and the priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood.

⁶Les sacrificateurs se tenaient à leur poste, et les Lévites aussi avec les instruments faits en l'honneur de l'Eternel par le roi David pour le chant des louanges de l'Eternel, lorsque David les chargea de célébrer l'Eternel en disant: Car sa miséricorde dure à toujours! Les sacrificateurs sonnaient des trompettes vis-à-vis d'eux. Et tout Israël était là.

⁶והכהנים על משמרותם עמדים והלוים בכלי שיר יהוה אשר עשה דויד המלך להדות ליהוה כי לעולם חסדו בהלל דויד בידם והכהנים מחצצרים נגדם וכל ישראל עמדים׃

⁷Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt-offering, and the meal-offering, and the fat.

⁷Salomon consacra le milieu du parvis, qui est devant la maison de l'Eternel; car il offrit là les holocaustes et les graisses des sacrifices d'actions de grâces, parce que l'autel d'airain qu'avait fait Salomon ne pouvait contenir les holocaustes, les offrandes et les graisses.

⁷ויקדש שלמה את תוך החצר אשר לפני בית יהוה כי עשה שם העלות ואת חלבי השלמים כי מזבח הנחשת אשר עשה שלמה לא יכול להכיל את העלה ואת המנחה ואת החלבים׃

⁸So Solomon held the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt.

⁸Salomon célébra la fête en ce temps-là pendant sept jours, et tout Israël avec lui; une grande multitude était venue depuis les environs de Hamath jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte.

⁸ויעש שלמה את החג בעת ההיא שבעת ימים וכל ישראל עמו קהל גדול מאד מלבוא חמת עד נחל מצרים׃

⁹And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

⁹Le huitième jour, ils eurent une assemblée solennelle; car ils firent la dédicace de l'autel pendant sept jours, et la fête pendant sept jours.

⁹ויעשו ביום השמיני עצרת כי חנכת המזבח עשו שבעת ימים והחג שבעת ימים׃

¹⁰And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away unto their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that Jehovah had showed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

¹⁰Le vingt-troisième jour du septième mois, Salomon renvoya dans ses tentes le peuple joyeux et content pour le bien que l'Eternel avait fait à David, à Salomon, et à Israël, son peuple.

¹⁰וביום עשרים ושלשה לחדש השביעי שלח את העם לאהליהם שמחים וטובי לב על הטובה אשר עשה יהוה לדויד ולשלמה ולישראל עמו׃

¹¹Thus Solomon finished the house of Jehovah, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of Jehovah, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

¹¹Lorsque Salomon eut achevé la maison de l'Eternel et la maison du roi, et qu'il eut réussi dans tout ce qu'il s'était proposé de faire dans la maison de l'Eternel et dans la maison du roi,

¹¹ויכל שלמה את בית יהוה ואת בית המלך ואת כל הבא על לב שלמה לעשות בבית יהוה ובביתו הצליח׃

¹²And Jehovah appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice.

¹²l'Eternel apparut à Salomon pendant la nuit, et lui dit: J'exauce ta prière, et je choisis ce lieu comme la maison où l'on devra m'offrir des sacrifices.

¹²וירא יהוה אל שלמה בלילה ויאמר לו שמעתי את תפלתך ובחרתי במקום הזה לי לבית זבח׃

¹³If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

¹³Quand je fermerai le ciel et qu'il n'y aura point de pluie, quand j'ordonnerai aux sauterelles de consumer le pays, quand j'enverrai la peste parmi mon peuple;

¹³הן אעצר השמים ולא יהיה מטר והן אצוה על חגב לאכול הארץ ואם אשלח דבר בעמי׃

¹⁴if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

¹⁴si mon peuple sur qui est invoqué mon nom s'humilie, prie, et cherche ma face, et s'il se détourne de ses mauvaises voies, -je l'exaucerai des cieux, je lui pardonnerai son péché, et je guérirai son pays.

¹⁴ויכנעו עמי אשר נקרא שמי עליהם ויתפללו ויבקשו פני וישבו מדרכיהם הרעים ואני אשמע מן השמים ואסלח לחטאתם וארפא את ארצם׃

¹⁵Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place.

¹⁵Mes yeux seront ouverts désormais, et mes oreilles seront attentives à la prière faite en ce lieu.

¹⁵עתה עיני יהיו פתחות ואזני קשבות לתפלת המקום הזה׃

¹⁶For now have I chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

¹⁶Maintenant, je choisis et je sanctifie cette maison pour que mon nom y réside à jamais, et j'aurai toujours là mes yeux et mon coeur.

¹⁶ועתה בחרתי והקדשתי את הבית הזה להיות שמי שם עד עולם והיו עיני ולבי שם כל הימים׃

¹⁷And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances;

¹⁷Et toi, si tu marches en ma présence comme a marché David, ton père, faisant tout ce que je t'ai commandé, et si tu observes mes lois et mes ordonnances,

¹⁷ואתה אם תלך לפני כאשר הלך דויד אביך ולעשות ככל אשר צויתיך וחקי ומשפטי תשמור׃

¹⁸then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

¹⁸j'affermirai le trône de ton royaume, comme je l'ai promis à David, ton père, en disant: Tu ne manqueras jamais d'un successeur qui règne en Israël.

¹⁸והקימותי את כסא מלכותך כאשר כרתי לדויד אביך לאמר לא יכרת לך איש מושל בישראל׃

¹⁹But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

¹⁹Mais si vous vous détournez, si vous abandonnez mes lois et mes commandements que je vous ai prescrits, et si vous allez servir d'autres dieux et vous prosterner devant eux,

¹⁹ואם תשובון אתם ועזבתם חקותי ומצותי אשר נתתי לפניכם והלכתם ועבדתם אלהים אחרים והשתחויתם להם׃

²⁰then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

²⁰je vous arracherai de mon pays que je vous ai donné, je rejetterai loin de moi cette maison que j'ai consacrée à mon nom, et j'en ferai un sujet de sarcasme et de raillerie parmi tous les peuples.

²⁰ונתשתים מעל אדמתי אשר נתתי להם ואת הבית הזה אשר הקדשתי לשמי אשליך מעל פני ואתננו למשל ולשנינה בכל העמים׃

²¹And this house, which is so high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall say, Why hath Jehovah done thus unto this land, and to this house?

²¹Et si haut placée qu'ait été cette maison, quiconque passera près d'elle sera dans l'étonnement, et dira: Pourquoi l'Eternel a-t-il ainsi traité ce pays et cette maison?

²¹והבית הזה אשר היה עליון לכל עבר עליו ישם ואמר במה עשה יהוה ככה לארץ הזאת ולבית הזה׃

²²And they shall answer, Because they forsook Jehovah, the God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.

²²Et l'on répondra: Parce qu'ils ont abandonné l'Eternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, qui les a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, parce qu'ils se sont attachés à d'autres dieux, se sont prosternés devant eux et les ont servis; voilà pourquoi il a fait venir sur eux tous ces maux.

²²ואמרו על אשר עזבו את יהוה אלהי אבתיהם אשר הוציאם מארץ מצרים ויחזיקו באלהים אחרים וישתחוו להם ויעבדום על כן הביא עליהם את כל הרעה הזאת׃
