¹This is the third time I am coming to you. At the mouth of two witnesses or three shall every word established.

¹Je vais chez vous pour la troisième fois. Toute affaire se réglera sur la déclaration de deux ou de trois témoins.

¹זאת הפעם השלישית אשר אבוא אליכם על פי שנים עדים או שלשה עדים יקום כל דבר׃

²I have said beforehand, and I do say beforehand, as when I was present the second time, so now, being absent, to them that have sinned heretofore, and to all the rest, that, if I come again, I will not spare;

²Lorsque j'étais présent pour la seconde fois, j'ai déjà dit, et aujourd'hui que je suis absent je dis encore d'avance à ceux qui ont péché précédemment et à tous les autres que, si je retourne chez vous, je n'userai d'aucun ménagement,

²מקדם אמרתי בהיותי אצלכם בפעם השנית ומקדם אני אמר וכתב עתה ברחקי מכם לאשר חטאו לפני מזה ולכל הנשארים כי בשובי לבוא לא אחוס׃

³seeing that ye seek a proof of Christ that speaketh in me; who to you-ward is not weak, but is powerful in you:

³puisque vous cherchez une preuve que Christ parle en moi, lui qui n'est pas faible à votre égard, mais qui est puissant parmi vous.

³יען בקשכם לבחן את המשיח המדבר בי אשר איננו חלש לכם כי אם גבור הוא בתוככם׃

⁴for he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth through the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him through the power of God toward you.

⁴Car il a été crucifié à cause de sa faiblesse, mais il vit par la puissance de Dieu; nous aussi, nous sommes faibles en lui, mais nous vivrons avec lui par la puissance de Dieu pour agir envers vous.

⁴כי אם גם נצלב בחלשה אכן חי הוא בגבורת אלהים ואם גם חלשים בו אנחנו אכן נחיה עמו בגבורת אלהים לנגדכם׃

⁵Try your own selves, whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves. Or know ye not as to your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you? unless indeed ye be reprobate.

⁵Examinez-vous vous mêmes, pour savoir si vous êtes dans la foi; éprouvez-vous vous-mêmes. Ne reconnaissez-vous pas que Jésus-Christ est en vous? à moins peut-être que vous ne soyez réprouvés.

⁵נסו נא אתכם אם באמונה אתם בחנו אתכם או האינכם ידעים את נפשכם כי ישוע המשיח בכם אם לא כי נמאסים אתם׃

⁶But I hope that ye shall know that we are not reprobate.

⁶Mais j'espère que vous reconnaîtrez que nous, nous ne sommes pas réprouvés.

⁶אבל אקוה כי תדעו אשר אנחנו איננו נמאסים׃

⁷Now we pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we may appear approved, but that ye may do that which is honorable, though we be as reprobate.

⁷Cependant nous prions Dieu que vous ne fassiez rien de mal, non pour paraître nous-mêmes approuvés, mais afin que vous pratiquiez ce qui est bien et que nous, nous soyons comme réprouvés.

⁷ואני מתחנן אל האלהים אשר לא תעשו כל רע לא למען נראה אנחנו נאמנים כי אם למען תעשו אתם את הטוב ואנחנו נהיה כנמאסים׃

⁸For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

⁸Car nous n'avons pas de puissance contre la vérité; nous n'en avons que pour la vérité.

⁸כי אין אנחנו יכולים לעשות מאומה לנגד האמת כי אם בעד האמת׃

⁹For we rejoice, when we are weak, and ye are strong: this we also pray for, even your perfecting.

⁹Nous nous réjouissons lorsque nous sommes faibles, tandis que vous êtes forts; et ce que nous demandons dans nos prières, c'est votre perfectionnement.

⁹כי נשמח אם חלשים אנחנו ואתם גבורים ועל זאת גם נתפלל על אשר תכוננו׃

¹⁰For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not when present deal sharply, according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up, and not for casting down.

¹⁰C'est pourquoi j'écris ces choses étant absent, afin que, présent, je n'aie pas à user de rigueur, selon l'autorité que le Seigneur m'a donnée pour l'édification et non pour la destruction.

¹⁰ובעבור זאת כתבתי את אלה בהיותי ברחוק למען אשר לא אצטרך בקרבי אליכם לדבר אתכם משפטים לפי הרשות אשר נתנה לי האדון לבנות ולא להרוס׃

¹¹Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfected; be comforted; be of the same mind; live in peace: and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

¹¹Au reste, frères, soyez dans la joie, perfectionnez-vous, consolez-vous, ayez un même sentiment, vivez en paix; et le Dieu d'amour et de paix sera avec vous.

¹¹ובכן אחי שמחו והתכוננו התנחמו ויהי לכם לב אחד אהבו השלום ואלהי האהבה והשלום יהי עמכם׃

¹²Salute one another with a holy kiss.

¹²Saluez-vous les uns les autres par un saint baiser.

¹²]31-21[ שאלו לשלום איש את רעהו בנשיקה הקדושה הקדושים כלם שאלים לשלומכם׃

¹³All the saints salute you.

¹⁴The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

¹⁴Que la grâce du Seigneur Jésus-Christ, l'amour de Dieu, et la communication du Saint-Esprit, soient avec vous tous!

¹⁴חסד האדון ישוע המשיח ואהבת האלהים והתחברות רוח הקדש עם כלכם אמן׃
