¹For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.

¹Nous savons, en effet, que, si cette tente où nous habitons sur la terre est détruite, nous avons dans le ciel un édifice qui est l'ouvrage de Dieu, une demeure éternelle qui n'a pas été faite de main d'homme.

¹הן ידענו כי בהרס בית אהלנו אשר בארץ יש לנו בנין מאת האלהים בית אשר איננו מעשה ידים והוא לעולם בשמים׃

²For verily in this we groan, longing to be clothed upon with our habitation which is from heaven:

²Aussi nous gémissons dans cette tente, désirant revêtir notre domicile céleste,

²כי גם עתה נאנחים ונכספים אנחנו להתעטף בביתנו אשר מן השמים׃

³if so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

³si du moins nous sommes trouvés vêtus et non pas nus.

³באשר אחרי לבשנהו לא נמצא ערמים׃

⁴For indeed we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened; not for that we would be unclothed, but that we would be clothed upon, that what is mortal may be swallowed up of life.

⁴Car tandis que nous sommes dans cette tente, nous gémissons, accablés, parce que nous voulons, non pas nous dépouiller, mais nous revêtir, afin que ce qui est mortel soit englouti par la vie.

⁴כי גם עתה באהלנו זה נאנח מפני הכבד ולא חפצנו להתפשט כי אם להתעטף למען יבלע המות על ידי החיים׃

⁵Now he that wrought us for this very thing is God, who gave unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

⁵Et celui qui nous a formés pour cela, c'est Dieu, qui nous a donné les arrhes de l'Esprit.

⁵והמכין אתנו לזאת הוא האלהים אשר אף נתן לנו את ערבון הרוח׃

⁶Being therefore always of good courage, and knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord

⁶Nous sommes donc toujours pleins de confiance, et nous savons qu'en demeurant dans ce corps nous demeurons loin du Seigneur-

⁶לכן בטוחים אנחנו בכל עת וידעים כי כל עוד שמושבנו בגוף רחוקים אנחנו מן האדון׃

⁷(for we walk by faith, not by sight);

⁷car nous marchons par la foi et non par la vue,

⁷כי באמונה נתהלך ולא בראות עינים׃

⁸we are of good courage, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be at home with the Lord.

⁸nous sommes pleins de confiance, et nous aimons mieux quitter ce corps et demeurer auprès du Seigneur.

⁸אמנם בטוחים אנחנו ונבחרה לנו להתרחק מן הגוף ולהיות קרובים אל האדון׃

⁹Wherefore also we make it our aim, whether at home or absent, to be well-pleasing unto him.

⁹C'est pour cela aussi que nous nous efforçons de lui être agréables, soit que nous demeurions dans ce corps, soit que nous le quittions.

⁹על כן גם נשתדל אם קרובים אם רחוקים להיות לו לרצון׃

¹⁰For we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things [done] in the body, according to what he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.

¹⁰Car il nous faut tous comparaître devant le tribunal de Christ, afin que chacun reçoive selon le bien ou le mal qu'il aura fait, étant dans son corps.

¹⁰כי כלנו עתידים להראות לפני כסא דין המשיח למען יקבל איש ואיש כפי פעלו בחיי גופו אם טוב ואם רע׃

¹¹Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.

¹¹Connaissant donc la crainte du Seigneur, nous cherchons à convaincre les hommes; Dieu nous connaît, et j'espère que dans vos consciences vous nous connaissez aussi.

¹¹ועתה יען אשר ידענו יראת האדון נדבר על לב בני אדם ולאלהים אנחנו גלוים ואקוה כי גלוים אנחנו גם במדעכם׃

¹²We are not again commending ourselves unto you, but [speak] as giving you occasion of glorying on our behalf, that ye may have wherewith to answer them that glory in appearance, and not in heart.

¹²Nous ne nous recommandons pas de nouveau nous-mêmes auprès de vous; mais nous vous donnons occasion de vous glorifier à notre sujet, afin que vous puissiez répondre à ceux qui tirent gloire de ce qui est dans les apparences et non dans le coeur.

¹²כי אין אנחנו משתבחין שנית אליכם אך נתנים לכם סבה להתפאר בנו לנגד המתפארים בפנים ולא בלב׃

¹³For whether we are beside ourselves, it is unto God; or whether we are of sober mind, it is unto you.

¹³En effet, si je suis hors de sens, c'est pour Dieu; si je suis de bon sens, c'est pour vous.

¹³כי אם השתגענו לאלהים היתה זאת ואם השכלנו לכם היתה׃

¹⁴For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that one died for all, therefore all died;

¹⁴Car l'amour de Christ nous presse, parce que nous estimons que, si un seul est mort pour tous, tous donc sont morts;

¹⁴כי אהבת המשיח דחקת אתנו בהיותנו דנים אשר אם מת אחד בעד כלם כלם מתו׃

¹⁵and he died for all, that they that live should no longer live unto themselves, but unto him who for their sakes died and rose again.

¹⁵et qu'il est mort pour tous, afin que ceux qui vivent ne vivent plus pour eux-mêmes, mais pour celui qui est mort et ressuscité pour eux.

¹⁵ובעד כלם מת למען לא יחיו החיים עוד לנפשם כי אם לאשר מת ויקם בעדם׃

¹⁶Wherefore we henceforth know no man after the flesh: even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know [him so] no more.

¹⁶Ainsi, dès maintenant, nous ne connaissons personne selon la chair; et si nous avons connu Christ selon la chair, maintenant nous ne le connaissons plus de cette manière.

¹⁶לכן מעתה אנחנו לא נדע איש לפי הבשר וגם אם ידענו את המשיח לפי הבשר מעתה לא נדעהו עוד׃

¹⁷Wherefore if any man is in Christ, [he is] a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new.

¹⁷Si quelqu'un est en Christ, il est une nouvelle créature. Les choses anciennes sont passées; voici, toutes choses sont devenues nouvelles.

¹⁷ובכן מי שהוא במשיח בריאה חדשה הוא הישנות עברו והנה הכל נהיה לחדש׃

¹⁸But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave unto us the ministry of reconciliation;

¹⁸Et tout cela vient de Dieu, qui nous a réconciliés avec lui par Christ, et qui nous a donné le ministère de la réconciliation.

¹⁸והכל מאת האלהים המרצה אתנו לעצמו על ידי ישוע המשיח ויתן לנו שרות הרצוי׃

¹⁹to wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself, not reckoning unto them their trespasses, and having committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

¹⁹Car Dieu était en Christ, réconciliant le monde avec lui-même, en n'imputant point aux hommes leurs offenses, et il a mis en nous la parole de la réconciliation.

¹⁹יען אשר אלהים היה במשיח מרצה את העולם לעצמו ולא חשב להם את פשעיהם וישם בנו את דבר הרצוי׃

²⁰We are ambassadors therefore on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beseech [you] on behalf of Christ, be ye reconciled to God.

²⁰Nous faisons donc les fonctions d'ambassadeurs pour Christ, comme si Dieu exhortait par nous; nous vous en supplions au nom de Christ: Soyez réconciliés avec Dieu!

²⁰לכן מליצי המשיח אנחנו וכאלו האלהים מזהיר אתכם על ידנו נבקש מכם בעד המשיח התרצו נא אל האלהים׃

²¹Him who knew no sin he made [to be] sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

²¹Celui qui n'a point connu le péché, il l'a fait devenir péché pour nous, afin que nous devenions en lui justice de Dieu.

²¹כי את אשר לא ידע חטאת אתו עשה לחטאת בעדנו למען נהיה בו אנחנו לצדקת אלהים׃
