¹In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

¹La dix-septième année de Pékach, fils de Remalia, Achaz, fils de Jotham, roi de Juda, régna.

¹בשנת שבע עשרה שנה לפקח בן רמליהו מלך אחז בן יותם מלך יהודה׃

²Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he did not that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah his God, like David his father.

²Achaz avait vingt ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Il ne fit point ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Eternel, son Dieu, comme avait fait David, son père.

²בן עשרים שנה אחז במלכו ושש עשרה שנה מלך בירושלם ולא עשה הישר בעיני יהוה אלהיו כדוד אביו׃

³But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations, whom Jehovah cast out from before the children of Israel.

³Il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël; et même il fit passer son fils par le feu, suivant les abominations des nations que l'Eternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.

³וילך בדרך מלכי ישראל וגם את בנו העביר באש כתעבות הגוים אשר הוריש יהוה אתם מפני בני ישראל׃

⁴And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

⁴Il offrait des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts lieux, sur les collines et sous tout arbre vert.

⁴ויזבח ויקטר בבמות ועל הגבעות ותחת כל עץ רענן׃

⁵Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

⁵Alors Retsin, roi de Syrie, et Pékach, fils de Remalia, roi d'Israël, montèrent contre Jérusalem pour l'attaquer. Ils assiégèrent Achaz; mais ils ne purent pas le vaincre.

⁵אז יעלה רצין מלך ארם ופקח בן רמליהו מלך ישראל ירושלם למלחמה ויצרו על אחז ולא יכלו להלחם׃

⁶At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there, unto this day.

⁶Dans ce même temps, Retsin, roi de Syrie, fit rentrer Elath au pouvoir des Syriens; il expulsa d'Elath les Juifs, et les Syriens vinrent à Elath, où ils ont habité jusqu'à ce jour.

⁶בעת ההיא השיב רצין מלך ארם את אילת לארם וינשל את היהודים מאילות וארמים באו אילת וישבו שם עד היום הזה׃

⁷So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me.

⁷Achaz envoya des messagers à Tiglath-Piléser, roi d'Assyrie, pour lui dire: Je suis ton serviteur et ton fils; monte, et délivre-moi de la main du roi de Syrie et de la main du roi d'Israël, qui s'élèvent contre moi.

⁷וישלח אחז מלאכים אל תגלת פלסר מלך אשור לאמר עבדך ובנך אני עלה והושעני מכף מלך ארם ומכף מלך ישראל הקומים עלי׃

⁸And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

⁸Et Achaz prit l'argent et l'or qui se trouvaient dans la maison de l'Eternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, et il l'envoya en présent au roi d'Assyrie.

⁸ויקח אחז את הכסף ואת הזהב הנמצא בית יהוה ובאצרות בית המלך וישלח למלך אשור שחד׃

⁹And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried [the people of] it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.

⁹Le roi d'Assyrie l'écouta; il monta contre Damas, la prit, emmena les habitants en captivité à Kir, et fit mourir Retsin.

⁹וישמע אליו מלך אשור ויעל מלך אשור אל דמשק ויתפשה ויגלה קירה ואת רצין המית׃

¹⁰And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.

¹⁰Le roi Achaz se rendit à Damas au-devant de Tiglath-Piléser, roi d'Assyrie. Et ayant vu l'autel qui était à Damas, le roi Achaz envoya au sacrificateur Urie le modèle et la forme exacte de cet autel.

¹⁰וילך המלך אחז לקראת תגלת פלאסר מלך אשור דומשק וירא את המזבח אשר בדמשק וישלח המלך אחז אל אוריה הכהן את דמות המזבח ואת תבניתו לכל מעשהו׃

¹¹And Urijah the priest built an altar: according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so did Urijah the priest make it against the coming of king Ahaz from Damascus.

¹¹Le sacrificateur Urie construisit un autel entièrement d'après le modèle envoyé de Damas par le roi Achaz, et le sacrificateur Urie le fit avant que le roi Achaz fût de retour de Damas.

¹¹ויבן אוריה הכהן את המזבח ככל אשר שלח המלך אחז מדמשק כן עשה אוריה הכהן עד בוא המלך אחז מדמשק׃

¹²And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king drew near unto the altar, and offered thereon.

¹²A son arrivée de Damas, le roi vit l'autel, s'en approcha et y monta:

¹²ויבא המלך מדמשק וירא המלך את המזבח ויקרב המלך על המזבח ויעל עליו׃

¹³And he burnt his burnt-offering and his meal-offering, and poured his drink-offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace-offerings, upon the altar.

¹³il fit brûler son holocauste et son offrande, versa ses libations, et répandit sur l'autel le sang de ses sacrifices d'actions de grâces.

¹³ויקטר את עלתו ואת מנחתו ויסך את נסכו ויזרק את דם השלמים אשר לו על המזבח׃

¹⁴And the brazen altar, which was before Jehovah, he brought from the forefront of the house, from between his altar and the house of Jehovah, and put it on the north side of his altar.

¹⁴Il éloigna de la face de la maison l'autel d'airain qui était devant l'Eternel, afin qu'il ne fût pas entre le nouvel autel et la maison de l'Eternel; et il le plaça à côté du nouvel autel, vers le nord.

¹⁴ואת המזבח הנחשת אשר לפני יהוה ויקרב מאת פני הבית מבין המזבח ומבין בית יהוה ויתן אתו על ירך המזבח צפונה׃

¹⁵And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt-offering, and the evening meal-offering, and the king's burnt-offering, and his meal-offering, with the burnt-offering of all the people of the land, and their meal-offering, and their drink-offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt-offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: but the brazen altar shall be for me to inquire by.

¹⁵Et le roi Achaz donna cet ordre au sacrificateur Urie: Fais brûler sur le grand autel l'holocauste du matin et l'offrande du soir, l'holocauste du roi et son offrande, les holocaustes de tout le peuple du pays et leurs offrandes, verses-y leurs libations, et répands-y tout le sang des holocaustes et tout le sang des sacrifices; pour ce qui concerne l'autel d'airain, je m'en occuperai.

¹⁵ויצוהו המלך אחז את אוריה הכהן לאמר על המזבח הגדול הקטר את עלת הבקר ואת מנחת הערב ואת עלת המלך ואת מנחתו ואת עלת כל עם הארץ ומנחתם ונסכיהם וכל דם עלה וכל דם זבח עליו תזרק ומזבח הנחשת יהיה לי לבקר׃

¹⁶Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

¹⁶Le sacrificateur Urie se conforma à tout ce que le roi Achaz avait ordonné.

¹⁶ויעש אוריה הכהן ככל אשר צוה המלך אחז׃

¹⁷And king Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the laver from off them, and took down the sea from off the brazen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stone.

¹⁷Et le roi Achaz brisa les panneaux des bases, et en ôta les bassins qui étaient dessus. Il descendit la mer de dessus les boeufs d'airain qui étaient sous elle, et il la posa sur un pavé de pierres.

¹⁷ויקצץ המלך אחז את המסגרות המכנות ויסר מעליהם ואת הכיר ואת הים הורד מעל הבקר הנחשת אשר תחתיה ויתן אתו על מרצפת אבנים׃

¹⁸And the covered way for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he unto the house of Jehovah, because of the king of Assyria.

¹⁸Il changea dans la maison de l'Eternel, à cause du roi d'Assyrie, le portique du sabbat qu'on y avait bâti et l'entrée extérieure du roi.

¹⁸ואת מיסך השבת אשר בנו בבית ואת מבוא המלך החיצונה הסב בית יהוה מפני מלך אשור׃

¹⁹Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

¹⁹Le reste des actions d'Achaz, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?

¹⁹ויתר דברי אחז אשר עשה הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה׃

²⁰And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

²⁰Achaz se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David. Et Ezéchias, son fils, régna à sa place.

²⁰וישכב אחז עם אבתיו ויקבר עם אבתיו בעיר דוד וימלך חזקיהו בנו תחתיו׃
