¹In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Set thy house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.

¹En ce temps-là, Ezéchias fut malade à la mort. Le prophète Esaïe, fils d'Amots, vint auprès de lui, et lui dit: Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Donne tes ordres à ta maison, car tu vas mourir, et tu ne vivras plus.

¹בימים ההם חלה חזקיהו למות ויבא אליו ישעיהו בן אמוץ הנביא ויאמר אליו כה אמר יהוה צו לביתך כי מת אתה ולא תחיה׃

²Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto Jehovah, saying,

²Ezéchias tourna son visage contre le mur, et fit cette prière à l'Eternel:

²ויסב את פניו אל הקיר ויתפלל אל יהוה לאמר׃

³Remember now, O Jehovah, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

³O Eternel! souviens-toi que j'ai marché devant ta face avec fidélité et intégrité de coeur, et que j'ai fait ce qui est bien à tes yeux! Et Ezéchias répandit d'abondantes larmes.

³אנה יהוה זכר נא את אשר התהלכתי לפניך באמת ובלבב שלם והטוב בעיניך עשיתי ויבך חזקיהו בכי גדול׃

⁴And it came to pass, before Isaiah was gone out into the middle part of the city, that the word of Jehovah came to him, saying,

⁴Esaïe, qui était sorti, n'était pas encore dans la cour du milieu, lorsque la parole de l'Eternel lui fut adressée en ces termes:

⁴ויהי ישעיהו לא יצא העיר התיכנה ודבר יהוה היה אליו לאמר׃

⁵Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the prince of my people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee; on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of Jehovah.

⁵Retourne, et dis à Ezéchias, chef de mon peuple: Ainsi parle l'Eternel, le Dieu de David, ton père: J'ai entendu ta prière, j'ai vu tes larmes. Voici, je te guérirai; le troisième jour, tu monteras à la maison de l'Eternel.

⁵שוב ואמרת אל חזקיהו נגיד עמי כה אמר יהוה אלהי דוד אביך שמעתי את תפלתך ראיתי את דמעתך הנני רפא לך ביום השלישי תעלה בית יהוה׃

⁶And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

⁶J'ajouterai à tes jours quinze années. Je te délivrerai, toi et cette ville, de la main du roi d'Assyrie; je protégerai cette ville, à cause de moi, et à cause de David, mon serviteur.

⁶והספתי על ימיך חמש עשרה שנה ומכף מלך אשור אצילך ואת העיר הזאת וגנותי על העיר הזאת למעני ולמען דוד עבדי׃

⁷And Isaiah said, Take a cake of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

⁷Esaïe dit: Prenez une masse de figues. On la prit, et on l'appliqua sur l'ulcère. Et Ezéchias guérit.

⁷ויאמר ישעיהו קחו דבלת תאנים ויקחו וישימו על השחין ויחי׃

⁸And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that Jehovah will heal me, and that I shall go up unto the house of Jehovah the third day?

⁸Ezéchias avait dit à Esaïe: A quel signe connaîtrai-je que l'Eternel me guérira, et que je monterai le troisième jour à la maison de l'Eternel?

⁸ויאמר חזקיהו אל ישעיהו מה אות כי ירפא יהוה לי ועליתי ביום השלישי בית יהוה׃

⁹And Isaiah said, This shall be the sign unto thee from Jehovah, that Jehovah will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?

⁹Et Esaïe dit: Voici, de la part de l'Eternel, le signe auquel tu connaîtras que l'Eternel accomplira la parole qu'il a prononcée: L'ombre avancera-t-elle de dix degrés, ou reculera-t-elle de dix degrés?

⁹ויאמר ישעיהו זה לך האות מאת יהוה כי יעשה יהוה את הדבר אשר דבר הלך הצל עשר מעלות אם ישוב עשר מעלות׃

¹⁰And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten steps: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.

¹⁰Ezéchias répondit: C'est peu de chose que l'ombre avance de dix degrés; mais plutôt qu'elle recule de dix degrés.

¹⁰ויאמר יחזקיהו נקל לצל לנטות עשר מעלות לא כי ישוב הצל אחרנית עשר מעלות׃

¹¹And Isaiah the prophet cried unto Jehovah; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz.

¹¹Alors Esaïe, le prophète, invoqua l'Eternel, qui fit reculer l'ombre de dix degrés sur les degrés d'Achaz, où elle était descendue.

¹¹ויקרא ישעיהו הנביא אל יהוה וישב את הצל במעלות אשר ירדה במעלות אחז אחרנית עשר מעלות׃

¹²At that time Berodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

¹²En ce même temps, Berodac-Baladan, fils de Baladan, roi de Babylone, envoya une lettre et un présent à Ezéchias, car il avait appris la maladie d'Ezéchias.

¹²בעת ההיא שלח בראדך בלאדן בן בלאדן מלך בבל ספרים ומנחה אל חזקיהו כי שמע כי חלה חזקיהו׃

¹³And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.

¹³Ezéchias donna audience aux envoyés, et il leur montra le lieu où étaient ses choses de prix, l'argent et l'or, les aromates et l'huile précieuse, son arsenal, et tout ce qui se trouvait dans ses trésors: il n'y eut rien qu'Ezéchias ne leur fît voir dans sa maison et dans tous ses domaines.

¹³וישמע עליהם חזקיהו ויראם את כל בית נכתה את הכסף ואת הזהב ואת הבשמים ואת שמן הטוב ואת בית כליו ואת כל אשר נמצא באוצרתיו לא היה דבר אשר לא הראם חזקיהו בביתו ובכל ממשלתו׃

¹⁴Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.

¹⁴Esaïe, le prophète, vint ensuite auprès du roi Ezéchias, et lui dit: Qu'ont dit ces gens-là, et d'où sont-ils venus vers toi? Ezéchias répondit: Ils sont venus d'un pays éloigné, de Babylone.

¹⁴ויבא ישעיהו הנביא אל המלך חזקיהו ויאמר אליו מה אמרו האנשים האלה ומאין יבאו אליך ויאמר חזקיהו מארץ רחוקה באו מבבל׃

¹⁵And he said, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.

¹⁵Esaïe dit encore: Qu'ont-ils vu dans ta maison? Ezéchias répondit: Ils ont vu tout ce qui est dans ma maison: il n'y a rien dans mes trésors que je ne leur aie fait voir.

¹⁵ויאמר מה ראו בביתך ויאמר חזקיהו את כל אשר בביתי ראו לא היה דבר אשר לא הראיתם באצרתי׃

¹⁶And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of Jehovah.

¹⁶Alors Esaïe dit à Ezéchias: Ecoute la parole de l'Eternel!

¹⁶ויאמר ישעיהו אל חזקיהו שמע דבר יהוה׃

¹⁷Behold, the days come, that all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith Jehovah.

¹⁷Voici, les temps viendront où l'on emportera à Babylone tout ce qui est dans ta maison et ce que tes pères ont amassé jusqu'à ce jour; il n'en restera rien, dit l'Eternel.

¹⁷הנה ימים באים ונשא כל אשר בביתך ואשר אצרו אבתיך עד היום הזה בבלה לא יותר דבר אמר יהוה׃

¹⁸And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

¹⁸Et l'on prendra de tes fils, qui seront sortis de toi, que tu auras engendrés, pour en faire des eunuques dans le palais du roi de Babylone.

¹⁸ומבניך אשר יצאו ממך אשר תוליד יקח והיו סריסים בהיכל מלך בבל׃

¹⁹Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of Jehovah which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, Is it not so, if peace and truth shall be in my days?

¹⁹Ezéchias répondit à Esaïe: La parole de l'Eternel, que tu as prononcée, est bonne. Et il ajouta: N'y aura-t-il pas paix et sécurité pendant ma vie?

¹⁹ויאמר חזקיהו אל ישעיהו טוב דבר יהוה אשר דברת ויאמר הלוא אם שלום ואמת יהיה בימי׃

²⁰Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

²⁰Le reste des actions d'Ezéchias, tous ses exploits, et comment il fit l'étang et l'aqueduc, et amena les eaux dans la ville, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?

²⁰ויתר דברי חזקיהו וכל גבורתו ואשר עשה את הברכה ואת התעלה ויבא את המים העירה הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה׃

²¹And Hezekiah slept with his fathers; and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

²¹Ezéchias se coucha avec ses pères. Et Manassé, son fils, régna à sa place.

²¹וישכב חזקיהו עם אבתיו וימלך מנשה בנו תחתיו׃
