¹Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign; and he reigned five and fifty years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Hephzibah.

¹Manassé avait douze ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna cinquante-cinq ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Hephtsiba.

¹בן שתים עשרה שנה מנשה במלכו וחמשים וחמש שנה מלך בירושלם ושם אמו חפצי בה׃

²And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, after the abominations of the nations whom Jehovah cast out before the children of Israel.

²Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, selon les abominations des nations que l'Eternel avait chassées devant les enfants d'Israël.

²ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה כתועבת הגוים אשר הוריש יהוה מפני בני ישראל׃

³For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as did Ahab king of Israel, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.

³Il rebâtit les hauts lieux qu'Ezéchias, son père, avait détruits, il éleva des autels à Baal, il fit une idole d'Astarté, comme avait fait Achab, roi d'Israël, et il se prosterna devant toute l'armée des cieux et la servit.

³וישב ויבן את הבמות אשר אבד חזקיהו אביו ויקם מזבחת לבעל ויעש אשרה כאשר עשה אחאב מלך ישראל וישתחו לכל צבא השמים ויעבד אתם׃

⁴And he built altars in the house of Jehovah, whereof Jehovah said, In Jerusalem will I put my name.

⁴Il bâtit des autels dans la maison de l'Eternel, quoique l'Eternel eût dit: C'est dans Jérusalem que je placerai mon nom.

⁴ובנה מזבחת בבית יהוה אשר אמר יהוה בירושלם אשים את שמי׃

⁵And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of Jehovah.

⁵Il bâtit des autels à toute l'armée des cieux dans les deux parvis de la maison de l'Eternel.

⁵ויבן מזבחות לכל צבא השמים בשתי חצרות בית יהוה׃

⁶And he made his son to pass through the fire, and practised augury, and used enchantments, and dealt with them that had familiar spirits, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

⁶Il fit passer son fils par le feu; il observait les nuages et les serpents pour en tirer des pronostics, et il établit des gens qui évoquaient les esprits et qui prédisaient l'avenir. Il fit de plus en plus ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, afin de l'irriter.

⁶והעביר את בנו באש ועונן ונחש ועשה אוב וידענים הרבה לעשות הרע בעיני יהוה להכעיס׃

⁷And he set the graven image of Asherah, that he had made, in the house of which Jehovah said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever;

⁷Il mit l'idole d'Astarté, qu'il avait faite, dans la maison de laquelle l'Eternel avait dit à David et à Salomon, son fils: C'est dans cette maison, et c'est dans Jérusalem, que j'ai choisie parmi toutes les tribus d'Israël, que je veux à toujours placer mon nom.

⁷וישם את פסל האשרה אשר עשה בבית אשר אמר יהוה אל דוד ואל שלמה בנו בבית הזה ובירושלם אשר בחרתי מכל שבטי ישראל אשים את שמי לעולם׃

⁸neither will I cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

⁸Je ne ferai plus errer le pied d'Israël hors du pays que j'ai donné à ses pères, pourvu seulement qu'ils aient soin de mettre en pratique tout ce que je leur ai commandé et toute la loi que leur a prescrite mon serviteur Moïse.

⁸ולא אסיף להניד רגל ישראל מן האדמה אשר נתתי לאבותם רק אם ישמרו לעשות ככל אשר צויתים ולכל התורה אשר צוה אתם עבדי משה׃

⁹But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do that which is evil more than did the nations whom Jehovah destroyed before the children of Israel.

⁹Mais ils n'obéirent point; et Manassé fut cause qu'ils s'égarèrent et firent le mal plus que les nations que l'Eternel avait détruites devant les enfants d'Israël.

⁹ולא שמעו ויתעם מנשה לעשות את הרע מן הגוים אשר השמיד יהוה מפני בני ישראל׃

¹⁰And Jehovah spake by his servants the prophets, saying,

¹⁰Alors l'Eternel parla en ces termes par ses serviteurs les prophètes:

¹⁰וידבר יהוה ביד עבדיו הנביאים לאמר׃

¹¹Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, that were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols;

¹¹Parce que Manassé, roi de Juda, a commis ces abominations, parce qu'il a fait pis que tout ce qu'avaient fait avant lui les Amoréens, et parce qu'il a aussi fait pécher Juda par ses idoles,

¹¹יען אשר עשה מנשה מלך יהודה התעבות האלה הרע מכל אשר עשו האמרי אשר לפניו ויחטא גם את יהודה בגלוליו׃

¹²therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Behold, I bring such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.

¹²voici ce que dit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Je vais faire venir sur Jérusalem et sur Juda des malheurs qui étourdiront les oreilles de quiconque en entendra parler.

¹²לכן כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל הנני מביא רעה על ירושלם ויהודה אשר כל שמעיו תצלנה שתי אזניו׃

¹³And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.

¹³J'étendrai sur Jérusalem le cordeau de Samarie et le niveau de la maison d'Achab; et je nettoierai Jérusalem comme un plat qu'on nettoie, et qu'on renverse sens dessus dessous après l'avoir nettoyé.

¹³ונטיתי על ירושלם את קו שמרון ואת משקלת בית אחאב ומחיתי את ירושלם כאשר ימחה את הצלחת מחה והפך על פניה׃

¹⁴And I will cast off the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;

¹⁴J'abandonnerai le reste de mon héritage, et je les livrerai entre les mains de leurs ennemis; et ils deviendront le butin et la proie de tous leurs ennemis,

¹⁴ונטשתי את שארית נחלתי ונתתים ביד איביהם והיו לבז ולמשסה לכל איביהם׃

¹⁵because they have done that which is evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.

¹⁵parce qu'ils ont fait ce qui est mal à mes yeux et qu'ils m'ont irrité depuis le jour où leurs pères sont sortis d'Egypte jusqu'à ce jour.

¹⁵יען אשר עשו את הרע בעיני ויהיו מכעסים אתי מן היום אשר יצאו אבותם ממצרים ועד היום הזה׃

¹⁶Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; besides his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah.

¹⁶Manassé répandit aussi beaucoup de sang innocent, jusqu'à en remplir Jérusalem d'un bout à l'autre, outre les péchés qu'il commit et qu'il fit commettre à Juda en faisant ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel.

¹⁶וגם דם נקי שפך מנשה הרבה מאד עד אשר מלא את ירושלם פה לפה לבד מחטאתו אשר החטיא את יהודה לעשות הרע בעיני יהוה׃

¹⁷Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

¹⁷Le reste des actions de Manassé, tout ce qu'il a fait, et les péchés auxquels il se livra, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?

¹⁷ויתר דברי מנשה וכל אשר עשה וחטאתו אשר חטא הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה׃

¹⁸And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

¹⁸Manassé se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré dans le jardin de sa maison, dans le jardin d'Uzza. Et Amon, son fils, régna à sa place.

¹⁸וישכב מנשה עם אבתיו ויקבר בגן ביתו בגן עזא וימלך אמון בנו תחתיו׃

¹⁹Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

¹⁹Amon avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna deux ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Meschullémeth, fille de Haruts, de Jotba.

¹⁹בן עשרים ושתים שנה אמון במלכו ושתים שנים מלך בירושלם ושם אמו משלמת בת חרוץ מן יטבה׃

²⁰And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, as did Manasseh his father.

²⁰Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Eternel, comme avait fait Manassé, son père;

²⁰ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה כאשר עשה מנשה אביו׃

²¹And he walked in all the way that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshipped them:

²¹il marcha dans toute la voie où avait marché son père, il servit les idoles qu'avait servies son père, et il se prosterna devant elles;

²¹וילך בכל הדרך אשר הלך אביו ויעבד את הגללים אשר עבד אביו וישתחו להם׃

²²and he forsook Jehovah, the God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of Jehovah.

²²il abandonna l'Eternel, le Dieu de ses pères, et il ne marcha point dans la voie de l'Eternel.

²²ויעזב את יהוה אלהי אבתיו ולא הלך בדרך יהוה׃

²³And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and put the king to death in his own house.

²³Les serviteurs d'Amon conspirèrent contre lui, et firent mourir le roi dans sa maison.

²³ויקשרו עבדי אמון עליו וימיתו את המלך בביתו׃

²⁴But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

²⁴Mais le peuple du pays frappa tous ceux qui avaient conspiré contre le roi Amon; et le peuple du pays établit roi Josias, son fils, à sa place.

²⁴ויך עם הארץ את כל הקשרים על המלך אמון וימליכו עם הארץ את יאשיהו בנו תחתיו׃

²⁵Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

²⁵ויתר דברי אמון אשר עשה הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי יהודה׃

²⁶And he was buried in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza: and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.

²⁶On l'enterra dans son sépulcre, dans le jardin d'Uzza. Et Josias, son fils, régna à sa place.

²⁶ויקבר אתו בקברתו בגן עזא וימלך יאשיהו בנו תחתיו׃
