¹And as they spake unto the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,

¹Tandis que Pierre et Jean parlaient au peuple, survinrent les sacrificateurs, le commandant du temple, et les sadducéens,

¹ויהי בדברם אל העם ויקומו עליהם הכהנים ונגיד בית המקדש והצדוקים׃

²being sore troubled because they taught the people, and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

²mécontents de ce qu'ils enseignaient le peuple, et annonçaient en la personne de Jésus la résurrection des morts.

²כי חרה להם על אשר למדו את העם והגידו בישוע את תחית המתים׃

³And they laid hands on them, and put them in ward unto the morrow: for it was now eventide.

³Ils mirent les mains sur eux, et ils les jetèrent en prison jusqu'au lendemain; car c'était déjà le soir.

³וישלחו בהם את ידיהם וישימום במשמר עד למחר כי כבר בא הערב׃

⁴But many of them that heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

⁴Cependant, beaucoup de ceux qui avaient entendu la parole crurent, et le nombre des hommes s'éleva à environ cinq mille.

⁴ורבים מהשמעים את הדבר האמינו ויהי מספר האנשים כחמשת אלפים׃

⁵And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem;

⁵Le lendemain, les chefs du peuple, les anciens et les scribes,

⁵ויהי ממחרת ויקהלו שריהם ראשיהם וזקניהם וסופריהם ירושלים׃

⁶and Annas the high priest [was there], and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest.

⁶s'assemblèrent à Jérusalem, avec Anne, le souverain sacrificateur, Caïphe, Jean, Alexandre, et tous ceux qui étaient de la race des principaux sacrificateurs.

⁶וחנן הכהן הגדול וקיפא ויוחנן ואלכסנדרוס וכל אשר ממשפחת הכהן הגדול׃

⁷And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired, By what power, or in what name, have ye done this?

⁷Ils firent placer au milieu d'eux Pierre et Jean, et leur demandèrent: Par quel pouvoir, ou au nom de qui avez-vous fait cela?

⁷ויעמידו אתם בתוך וישאלום באי זה כח ובאי זה שם עשיתם זאת׃

⁸Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders,

⁸Alors Pierre, rempli du Saint-Esprit, leur dit: Chefs du peuple, et anciens d'Israël,

⁸וימלא פטרוס רוח הקדש ויאמר אליהם אתם ראשי העם וזקני ישראל׃

⁹if we this day are examined concerning a good deed done to an impotent man, by what means this man is made whole;

⁹puisque nous sommes interrogés aujourd'hui sur un bienfait accordé à un homme malade, afin que nous disions comment il a été guéri,

⁹אם אנחנו נחקרים היום על הטובה אשר עשינו לאיש חולה ושאלתם במה זה נושע׃

¹⁰be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] in him doth this man stand here before you whole.

¹⁰sachez-le tous, et que tout le peuple d'Israël le sache! C'est par le nom de Jésus-Christ de Nazareth, que vous avez crucifié, et que Dieu a ressuscité des morts, c'est par lui que cet homme se présente en pleine santé devant vous.

¹⁰יודע לכלכם ולכל עם ישראל כי בשם ישוע המשיח הנצרי אשר צלבתם אותו ואשר האלהים הקימו מן המתים כי בשמו עמד זה לפניכם בריא׃

¹¹He is the stone which was set at nought of you the builders, which was made the head of the corner.

¹¹Jésus est La pierre rejetée par vous qui bâtissez, Et qui est devenue la principale de l'angle.

¹¹והוא האבן אשר מאסתם אתם הבונים ותהי לראש פנה׃

¹²And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.

¹²Il n'y a de salut en aucun autre; car il n'y a sous le ciel aucun autre nom qui ait été donné parmi les hommes, par lequel nous devions être sauvés.

¹²ואין הישועה באחר ואין תחת השמים שם אחר הנתן לבני אדם אשר בו נושע׃

¹³Now when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

¹³Lorsqu'ils virent l'assurance de Pierre et de Jean, ils furent étonnés, sachant que c'étaient des hommes du peuple sans instruction; et ils les reconnurent pour avoir été avec Jésus.

¹³ויהי כאשר ראו את בטחון לב של פטרוס ויוחנן והבינו כי הדיוטים ולא בעלי חכמה המה ויתמהו עליהם ויכירום כי התהלכו עם ישוע׃

¹⁴And seeing the man that was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

¹⁴Mais comme ils voyaient là près d'eux l'homme qui avait été guéri, ils n'avaient rien à répliquer.

¹⁴ובראותם את האיש הנרפא עמד אצלם לא מצאו לדבר נגדם דבר׃

¹⁵But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

¹⁵Ils leur ordonnèrent de sortir du sanhédrin, et ils délibérèrent entre eux,

¹⁵ויצוו אתם לצאת חוצה מן הסנהדרין ויתיעצו יחדו׃

¹⁶saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been wrought through them, is manifest to all that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

¹⁶disant: Que ferons-nous à ces hommes? Car il est manifeste pour tous les habitants de Jérusalem qu'un miracle signalé a été accompli par eux, et nous ne pouvons pas le nier.

¹⁶ויאמרו מה נעשה לאנשים האלה הנה אות גלוי נעשה על ידיהם וגם מפרסם לכל ישבי ירושלים ולא נוכל לכחש בו׃

¹⁷But that it spread no further among the people, let us threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

¹⁷Mais, afin que la chose ne se répande pas davantage parmi le peuple, défendons-leur avec menaces de parler désormais à qui que ce soit en ce nom-là.

¹⁷אך למען לא ירבה הדבר בעם ויפרץ נזהירה אתם בגערה לבלתי דבר עוד לכל אדם בשם הזה׃

¹⁸And they called them, and charged them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

¹⁸Et les ayant appelés, ils leur défendirent absolument de parler et d'enseigner au nom de Jésus.

¹⁸ויקראו אתם ויצוום אשר לא ידברו דבר ולא ילמדו בשם ישוע׃

¹⁹But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to hearken unto you rather than unto God, judge ye:

¹⁹Pierre et Jean leur répondirent: Jugez s'il est juste, devant Dieu, de vous obéir plutôt qu'à Dieu;

¹⁹ויענו פטרוס ויוחנן ויאמרו אליהם הנכון הוא לפני האלהים שמע לכם יתר משמע לאלהים שפטו אתם׃

²⁰for we cannot but speak the things which we saw and heard.

²⁰car nous ne pouvons pas ne pas parler de ce que nous avons vu et entendu.

²⁰כי לא נוכל אנחנו לחדל מדבר את אשר ראינו ושמענו׃

²¹And they, when they had further threatened them, let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people; for all men glorified God for that which was done.

²¹Ils leur firent de nouvelles menaces, et les relâchèrent, ne sachant comment les punir, à cause du peuple, parce que tous glorifiaient Dieu de ce qui était arrivé.

²¹ויוסיפו לגער בם ויפטרו אתם באשר לא מצאו דבר לענוש אתם מפני העם כי כלם מהללים את האלהים על הנעשה׃

²²For the man was more than forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was wrought.

²²Car l'homme qui avait été l'objet de cette guérison miraculeuse était âgé de plus de quarante ans.

²²כי בן ארבעים שנה ומעלה היה האיש ההוא אשר נעשה עמו אות הרפואה הזאת׃

²³And being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said unto them.

²³Après avoir été relâchés, ils allèrent vers les leurs, et racontèrent tout ce que les principaux sacrificateurs et les anciens leur avaient dit.

²³ואחרי הפטרם באו אל אחיהם ויספרו להם את אשר אמרו אליהם הכהנים הגדולים והזקנים׃

²⁴And they, when they heard it, lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, O Lord, thou that didst make the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is:

²⁴Lorsqu'ils l'eurent entendu, ils élevèrent à Dieu la voix tous ensemble, et dirent: Seigneur, toi qui as fait le ciel, la terre, la mer, et tout ce qui s'y trouve,

²⁴ויהי כאשר שמעו את זאת וישאו את קולם בלב אחד לאלהים ויאמרו אדני אתה האל העשה את השמים ואת הארץ ואת הים ואת כל אשר בם׃

²⁵who by the Holy Spirit, [by] the mouth of our father David thy servant, didst say, Why did the Gentiles rage, And the peoples imagine vain things?

²⁵c'est toi qui as dit par le Saint-Esprit, par la bouche de notre père, ton serviteur David: Pourquoi ce tumulte parmi les nations, Et ces vaines pensées parmi les peuples?

²⁵אשר אמרת בפי עבדך דוד למה רגשו גוים ולאמים יהגו ריק׃

²⁶The kings of the earth set themselves in array, And the rulers were gathered together, Against the Lord, and against his Anointed:

²⁶Les rois de la terre se sont soulevés, Et les princes se sont ligués Contre le Seigneur et contre son Oint.

²⁶יתיצבו מלכי ארץ ורוזנים נוסדו יחד על יהוה ועל משיחו׃

²⁷for of a truth in this city against thy holy Servant Jesus, whom thou didst anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, were gathered together,

²⁷En effet, contre ton saint serviteur Jésus, que tu as oint, Hérode et Ponce Pilate se sont ligués dans cette ville avec les nations et avec les peuples d'Israël,

²⁷כי אמנם נוסדו הורדוס ופנטיוס פילטוס עם הגוים ולאמי ישראל על ישוע עבדך הקדוש אשר משחת׃

²⁸to do whatsoever thy hand and thy council foreordained to come to pass.

²⁸pour faire tout ce que ta main et ton conseil avaient arrêté d'avance.

²⁸לעשות את אשר ידך ועצתך מקדם גזרה להיות׃

²⁹And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants to speak thy word with all boldness,

²⁹Et maintenant, Seigneur, vois leurs menaces, et donne à tes serviteurs d'annoncer ta parole avec une pleine assurance,

²⁹ועתה אדני ראה את גערתם ותן לעבדיך לדבר את דברך בכל בטחון לבם׃

³⁰while thy stretchest forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of thy holy Servant Jesus.

³⁰en étendant ta main, pour qu'il se fasse des guérisons, des miracles et des prodiges, par le nom de ton saint serviteur Jésus.

³⁰בנטתך את ידך למרפא ולתת אתות ומופתים בשם ישוע עבדך הקדוש׃

³¹And when they had prayed, the place was shaken wherein they were gathered together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

³¹Quand ils eurent prié, le lieu où ils étaient assemblés trembla; ils furent tous remplis du Saint-Esprit, et ils annonçaient la parole de Dieu avec assurance.

³¹ויהי כאשר התפללו וינע המקום אשר היו נקהלים שם וימלאו כלם רוח הקדש וידברו את דבר האלהים בבטחון לבב׃

³²And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and soul: and not one [of them] said that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

³²La multitude de ceux qui avaient cru n'était qu'un coeur et qu'une âme. Nul ne disait que ses biens lui appartinssent en propre, mais tout était commun entre eux.

³²וקהל המאמינים היה להם לב אחד ונפש אחת ואין איש מהם אומר על אשר בידו לי הוא כי הכל היה להם בשתפות׃

³³And with great power gave the apostles their witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

³³Les apôtres rendaient avec beaucoup de force témoignage de la résurrection du Seigneur Jésus. Et une grande grâce reposait sur eux tous.

³³ובגבורה גדולה יעידו השליחים על תקומת האדון ישוע וחסד גדול נמשך לכלם׃

³⁴For neither was there among them any that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

³⁴Car il n'y avait parmi eux aucun indigent: tous ceux qui possédaient des champs ou des maisons les vendaient, apportaient le prix de ce qu'ils avaient vendu,

³⁴כי לא היה בהם חסר דבר כי כל בעלי שדות ובתים מכרו אתם ויביאו את כסף מחירם׃

³⁵and laid them at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto each, according as any one had need.

³⁵et le déposaient aux pieds des apôtres; et l'on faisait des distributions à chacun selon qu'il en avait besoin.

³⁵וישימהו לרגלי השליחים ויתן לכל איש ואיש די מחסרו׃

³⁶And Joseph, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, Son of exhortation), a Levite, a man of Cyprus by race,

³⁶Joseph, surnommé par les apôtres Barnabas, ce qui signifie fils d'exhortation, Lévite, originaire de Chypre,

³⁶ויוסף אשר כנוהו השליחים בשם בר נבא פרושו בן הנחמה איש לוי אשר נולד בארץ כתים׃

³⁷having a field, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.

³⁷vendit un champ qu'il possédait, apporta l'argent, et le déposa aux pieds des apôtres.

³⁷גם לו היה שדה וימכרהו ויבא את הכסף וישימהו לרגלי השליחים׃
