¹Therefore thou shalt love Jehovah thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his commandments, alway.

¹Tu aimeras l'Eternel, ton Dieu, et tu observeras toujours ses préceptes, ses lois, ses ordonnances et ses commandements.

¹ואהבת את יהוה אלהיך ושמרת משמרתו וחקתיו ומשפטיו ומצותיו כל הימים׃

²And know ye this day: for [I speak] not with your children that have not known, and that have not seen the chastisement of Jehovah your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm,

²Reconnaissez aujourd'hui-ce que n'ont pu connaître et voir vos enfants-les châtiments de l'Eternel, votre Dieu, sa grandeur, sa main forte et son bras étendu,

²וידעתם היום כי לא את בניכם אשר לא ידעו ואשר לא ראו את מוסר יהוה אלהיכם את גדלו את ידו החזקה וזרעו הנטויה׃

³and his signs, and his works, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;

³ses signes et ses actes qu'il a accomplis au milieu de l'Egypte contre Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, et contre tout son pays.

³ואת אתתיו ואת מעשיו אשר עשה בתוך מצרים לפרעה מלך מצרים ולכל ארצו׃

⁴and what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how Jehovah hath destroyed them unto this day;

⁴Reconnaissez ce qu'il a fait à l'armée d'Egypte, à ses chevaux et à ses chars, comment il a fait couler sur eux les eaux de la mer Rouge, lorsqu'ils vous poursuivaient, et les a détruits pour toujours;

⁴ואשר עשה לחיל מצרים לסוסיו ולרכבו אשר הציף את מי ים סוף על פניהם ברדפם אחריכם ויאבדם יהוה עד היום הזה׃

⁵and what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came unto this place;

⁵ce qu'il vous a fait dans le désert, jusqu'à votre arrivée en ce lieu;

⁵ואשר עשה לכם במדבר עד באכם עד המקום הזה׃

⁶and what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the midst of all Israel:

⁶ce qu'il a fait à Dathan et à Abiram, fils d'Eliab, fils de Ruben, comment la terre ouvrit sa bouche et les engloutit, avec leurs maisons et leurs tentes et tout ce qui était à leur suite, au milieu de tout Israël.

⁶ואשר עשה לדתן ולאבירם בני אליאב בן ראובן אשר פצתה הארץ את פיה ותבלעם ואת בתיהם ואת אהליהם ואת כל היקום אשר ברגליהם בקרב כל ישראל׃

⁷but your eyes have seen all the great work of Jehovah which he did.

⁷Car vos yeux ont vu toutes les grandes choses que l'Eternel a faites.

⁷כי עיניכם הראת את כל מעשה יהוה הגדל אשר עשה׃

⁸Therefore shall ye keep all the commandment which I command thee this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go over to possess it;

⁸Ainsi, vous observerez tous les commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui, afin que vous ayez la force de vous emparer du pays où vous allez passer pour en prendre possession,

⁸ושמרתם את כל המצוה אשר אנכי מצוך היום למען תחזקו ובאתם וירשתם את הארץ אשר אתם עברים שמה לרשתה׃

⁹and that ye may prolong your days in the land, which Jehovah sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land flowing with milk and honey.

⁹et afin que vous prolongiez vos jours dans le pays que l'Eternel a juré à vos pères de leur donner, à eux et à leur postérité, pays où coulent le lait et le miel.

⁹ולמען תאריכו ימים על האדמה אשר נשבע יהוה לאבתיכם לתת להם ולזרעם ארץ זבת חלב ודבש׃

¹⁰For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs;

¹⁰Car le pays dont tu vas entrer en possession, n'est pas comme le pays d'Egypte, d'où vous êtes sortis, où tu jetais dans les champs ta semence et les arrosais avec ton pied comme un jardin potager.

¹⁰כי הארץ אשר אתה בא שמה לרשתה לא כארץ מצרים הוא אשר יצאתם משם אשר תזרע את זרעך והשקית ברגלך כגן הירק׃

¹¹but the land, whither ye go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, [and] drinketh water of the rain of heaven,

¹¹Le pays que vous allez posséder est un pays de montagnes et de vallées, et qui boit les eaux de la pluie du ciel;

¹¹והארץ אשר אתם עברים שמה לרשתה ארץ הרים ובקעת למטר השמים תשתה מים׃

¹²a land which Jehovah thy God careth for: the eyes of Jehovah thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

¹²c'est un pays dont l'Eternel, ton Dieu, prend soin, et sur lequel l'Eternel, ton Dieu, a continuellement les yeux, du commencement à la fin de l'année.

¹²ארץ אשר יהוה אלהיך דרש אתה תמיד עיני יהוה אלהיך בה מרשית השנה ועד אחרית שנה׃

¹³And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love Jehovah your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

¹³Si vous obéissez à mes commandements que je vous prescris aujourd'hui, si vous aimez l'Eternel, votre Dieu, et si vous le servez de tout votre coeur et de toute votre âme,

¹³והיה אם שמע תשמעו אל מצותי אשר אנכי מצוה אתכם היום לאהבה את יהוה אלהיכם ולעבדו בכל לבבכם ובכל נפשכם׃

¹⁴that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the former rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy grain, and thy new wine, and thine oil.

¹⁴je donnerai à votre pays la pluie en son temps, la pluie de la première et de l'arrière-saison, et tu recueilleras ton blé, ton moût et ton huile;

¹⁴ונתתי מטר ארצכם בעתו יורה ומלקוש ואספת דגנך ותירשך ויצהרך׃

¹⁵And I will give grass in thy fields for thy cattle, and thou shalt eat and be full.

¹⁵je mettrai aussi dans tes champs de l'herbe pour ton bétail, et tu mangeras et te rassasieras.

¹⁵ונתתי עשב בשדך לבהמתך ואכלת ושבעת׃

¹⁶Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

¹⁶Gardez-vous de laisser séduire votre coeur, de vous détourner, de servir d'autres dieux et de vous prosterner devant eux.

¹⁶השמרו לכם פן יפתה לבבכם וסרתם ועבדתם אלהים אחרים והשתחויתם להם׃

¹⁷and the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and he shut up the heavens, so that there shall be no rain, and the land shall not yield its fruit; and ye perish quickly from off the good land which Jehovah giveth you.

¹⁷La colère de l'Eternel s'enflammerait alors contre vous; il fermerait les cieux, et il n'y aurait point de pluie; la terre ne donnerait plus ses produits, et vous péririez promptement dans le bon pays que l'Eternel vous donne.

¹⁷וחרה אף יהוה בכם ועצר את השמים ולא יהיה מטר והאדמה לא תתן את יבולה ואבדתם מהרה מעל הארץ הטבה אשר יהוה נתן לכם׃

¹⁸Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and ye shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

¹⁸Mettez dans votre coeur et dans votre âme ces paroles que je vous dis. Vous les lierez comme un signe sur vos mains, et elles seront comme des fronteaux entre vos yeux.

¹⁸ושמתם את דברי אלה על לבבכם ועל נפשכם וקשרתם אתם לאות על ידכם והיו לטוטפת בין עיניכם׃

¹⁹And ye shall teach them your children, talking of them, when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

¹⁹Vous les enseignerez à vos enfants, et vous leur en parlerez quand tu seras dans ta maison, quand tu iras en voyage, quand tu te coucheras et quand tu te lèveras.

¹⁹ולמדתם אתם את בניכם לדבר בם בשבתך בביתך ובלכתך בדרך ובשכבך ובקומך׃

²⁰And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates;

²⁰Tu les écriras sur les poteaux de ta maison et sur tes portes.

²⁰וכתבתם על מזוזות ביתך ובשעריך׃

²¹that your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

²¹Et alors vos jours et les jours de vos enfants, dans le pays que l'Eternel a juré à vos pères de leur donner, seront aussi nombreux que les jours des cieux le seront au-dessus de la terre.

²¹למען ירבו ימיכם וימי בניכם על האדמה אשר נשבע יהוה לאבתיכם לתת להם כימי השמים על הארץ׃

²²For if ye shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, to do it, to love Jehovah your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

²²Car si vous observez tous ces commandements que je vous prescris, et si vous les mettez en pratique pour aimer l'Eternel, votre Dieu, pour marcher dans toutes ses voies et pour vous attacher à lui,

²²כי אם שמר תשמרון את כל המצוה הזאת אשר אנכי מצוה אתכם לעשתה לאהבה את יהוה אלהיכם ללכת בכל דרכיו ולדבקה בו׃

²³then will Jehovah drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

²³l'Eternel chassera devant vous toutes ces nations, et vous vous rendrez maîtres de nations plus grandes et plus puissantes que vous.

²³והוריש יהוה את כל הגוים האלה מלפניכם וירשתם גוים גדלים ועצמים מכם׃

²⁴Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea shall be your border.

²⁴Tout lieu que foulera la plante de votre pied sera à vous: votre frontière s'étendra du désert au Liban, et du fleuve de l'Euphrate jusqu'à la mer occidentale.

²⁴כל המקום אשר תדרך כף רגלכם בו לכם יהיה מן המדבר והלבנון מן הנהר נהר פרת ועד הים האחרון יהיה גבלכם׃

²⁵There shall no man be able to stand before you: Jehovah your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath spoken unto you.

²⁵Nul ne tiendra contre vous. L'Eternel, votre Dieu, répandra, comme il vous l'a dit, la frayeur et la crainte de toi sur tout le pays où vous marcherez.

²⁵לא יתיצב איש בפניכם פחדכם ומוראכם יתן יהוה אלהיכם על פני כל הארץ אשר תדרכו בה כאשר דבר לכם׃

²⁶Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:

²⁶Vois, je mets aujourd'hui devant vous la bénédiction et la malédiction:

²⁶ראה אנכי נתן לפניכם היום ברכה וקללה׃

²⁷the blessing, if ye shall hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day;

²⁷la bénédiction, si vous obéissez aux commandements de l'Eternel, votre Dieu, que je vous prescris en ce jour;

²⁷את הברכה אשר תשמעו אל מצות יהוה אלהיכם אשר אנכי מצוה אתכם היום׃

²⁸and the curse, if ye shall not hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

²⁸la malédiction, si vous n'obéissez pas aux commandements de l'Eternel, votre Dieu, et si vous vous détournez de la voie que je vous prescris en ce jour, pour aller après d'autres dieux que vous ne connaissez point.

²⁸והקללה אם לא תשמעו אל מצות יהוה אלהיכם וסרתם מן הדרך אשר אנכי מצוה אתכם היום ללכת אחרי אלהים אחרים אשר לא ידעתם׃

²⁹And it shall come to pass, when Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt set the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

²⁹Et lorsque l'Eternel, ton Dieu, t'aura fait entrer dans le pays dont tu vas prendre possession, tu prononceras la bénédiction sur la montagne de Garizim, et la malédiction sur la montagne d'Ebal.

²⁹והיה כי יביאך יהוה אלהיך אל הארץ אשר אתה בא שמה לרשתה ונתתה את הברכה על הר גרזים ואת הקללה על הר עיבל׃

³⁰Are they not beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites that dwell in the Arabah, over against Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?

³⁰Ces montagnes ne sont-elles pas de l'autre côté du Jourdain, derrière le chemin de l'occident, au pays des Cananéens qui habitent dans la plaine vis-à-vis de Guilgal, près des chênes de Moré?

³⁰הלא המה בעבר הירדן אחרי דרך מבוא השמש בארץ הכנעני הישב בערבה מול הגלגל אצל אלוני מרה׃

³¹For ye are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Jehovah your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.

³¹Car vous allez passer le Jourdain pour entrer en possession du pays que l'Eternel, votre Dieu, vous donne; vous le posséderez, et vous y habiterez.

³¹כי אתם עברים את הירדן לבא לרשת את הארץ אשר יהוה אלהיכם נתן לכם וירשתם אתה וישבתם בה׃

³²And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you this day.

³²Vous observerez et vous mettrez en pratique toutes les lois et les ordonnances que je vous prescris aujourd'hui.

³²ושמרתם לעשות את כל החקים ואת המשפטים אשר אנכי נתן לפניכם היום׃
