¹Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Edrei.

¹Nous nous tournâmes, et nous montâmes par le chemin de Basan. Og, roi de Basan, sortit à notre rencontre, avec tout son peuple, pour nous combattre à Edréi.

¹ונפן ונעל דרך הבשן ויצא עוג מלך הבשן לקראתנו הוא וכל עמו למלחמה אדרעי׃

²And Jehovah said unto me, Fear him not; for I have delivered him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.

²L'Eternel me dit: Ne le crains point; car je le livre entre tes mains, lui et tout son peuple, et son pays; tu le traiteras comme tu as traité Sihon, roi des Amoréens, qui habitait à Hesbon.

²ויאמר יהוה אלי אל תירא אתו כי בידך נתתי אתו ואת כל עמו ואת ארצו ועשית לו כאשר עשית לסיחן מלך האמרי אשר יושב בחשבון׃

³So Jehovah our God delivered into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.

³Et l'Eternel, notre Dieu, livra encore entre nos mains Og, roi de Basan, avec tout son peuple; nous le battîmes, sans laisser échapper aucun de ses gens.

³ויתן יהוה אלהינו בידנו גם את עוג מלך הבשן ואת כל עמו ונכהו עד בלתי השאיר לו שריד׃

⁴And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we took not from them; threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

⁴Nous prîmes alors toutes ses villes, et il n'y en eut pas une qui ne tombât en notre pouvoir: soixante villes, toute la contrée d'Argob, le royaume d'Og en Basan.

⁴ונלכד את כל עריו בעת ההוא לא היתה קריה אשר לא לקחנו מאתם ששים עיר כל חבל ארגב ממלכת עוג בבשן׃

⁵All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars; besides the unwalled towns a great many.

⁵Toutes ces villes étaient fortifiées, avec de hautes murailles, des portes et des barres; il y avait aussi des villes sans murailles en très grand nombre.

⁵כל אלה ערים בצרות חומה גבהה דלתים ובריח לבד מערי הפרזי הרבה מאד׃

⁶And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones.

⁶Nous les dévouâmes par interdit, comme nous l'avions fait à Sihon, roi de Hesbon; nous dévouâmes toutes les villes par interdit, hommes, femmes et petits enfants.

⁶ונחרם אותם כאשר עשינו לסיחן מלך חשבון החרם כל עיר מתם הנשים והטף׃

⁷But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey unto ourselves.

⁷Mais nous pillâmes pour nous tout le bétail et le butin des villes.

⁷וכל הבהמה ושלל הערים בזונו לנו׃

⁸And we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites that were beyond the Jordan, from the valley of the Arnon unto mount Hermon;

⁸C'est ainsi que, dans ce temps-là, nous conquîmes sur les deux rois des Amoréens le pays de l'autre côté du Jourdain, depuis le torrent de l'Arnon jusqu'à la montagne de l'Hermon

⁸ונקח בעת ההוא את הארץ מיד שני מלכי האמרי אשר בעבר הירדן מנחל ארנן עד הר חרמון׃

⁹([which] Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir;)

⁹les Sidoniens donnent à l'Hermon le nom de Sirion, et les Amoréens celui de Senir,

⁹צידנים יקראו לחרמון שרין והאמרי יקראו לו שניר׃

¹⁰all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

¹⁰toutes les villes de la plaine, tout Galaad et tout Basan jusqu'à Salca et Edréi, villes du royaume d'Og en Basan.

¹⁰כל ערי המישר וכל הגלעד וכל הבשן עד סלכה ואדרעי ערי ממלכת עוג בבשן׃

¹¹(For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbah of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.)

¹¹Og, roi de Basan, était resté seul de la race des Rephaïm. Voici, son lit, un lit de fer, n'est-il pas à Rabbath, ville des enfants d'Ammon? Sa longueur est de neuf coudées, et sa largeur de quatre coudées, en coudées d'homme.

¹¹כי רק עוג מלך הבשן נשאר מיתר הרפאים הנה ערשו ערש ברזל הלה הוא ברבת בני עמון תשע אמות ארכה וארבע אמות רחבה באמת איש׃

¹²And this land we took in possession at that time: from Aroer, which is by the valley of the Arnon, and half the hill-country of Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites:

¹²Nous prîmes alors possession de ce pays. Je donnai aux Rubénites et aux Gadites le territoire à partir d'Aroër sur le torrent de l'Arnon et la moitié de la montagne de Galaad avec ses villes.

¹²ואת הארץ הזאת ירשנו בעת ההוא מערער אשר על נחל ארנן וחצי הר הגלעד ועריו נתתי לראובני ולגדי׃

¹³and the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half-tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, even all Bashan. (The same is called the land of Rephaim.

¹³Je donnai à la moitié de la tribu de Manassé le reste de Galaad et tout le royaume d'Og en Basan: toute la contrée d'Argob, avec tout Basan, c'est ce qu'on appelait le pays des Rephaïm.

¹³ויתר הגלעד וכל הבשן ממלכת עוג נתתי לחצי שבט המנשה כל חבל הארגב לכל הבשן ההוא יקרא ארץ רפאים׃

¹⁴Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called them, even Bashan, after his own name, Havvoth-jair, unto this day.)

¹⁴Jaïr, fils de Manassé, prit toute la contrée d'Argob jusqu'à la frontière des Gueschuriens et des Maacathiens, et il donna son nom aux bourgs de Basan, appelés encore aujourd'hui bourgs de Jaïr.

¹⁴יאיר בן מנשה לקח את כל חבל ארגב עד גבול הגשורי והמעכתי ויקרא אתם על שמו את הבשן חות יאיר עד היום הזה׃

¹⁵And I gave Gilead unto Machir.

¹⁵Je donnai Galaad à Makir.

¹⁵ולמכיר נתתי את הגלעד׃

¹⁶And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the valley of the Arnon, the middle of the valley, and the border [thereof], even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

¹⁶Aux Rubénites et aux Gadites je donnai une partie de Galaad jusqu'au torrent de l'Arnon, dont le milieu sert de limite, et jusqu'au torrent de Jabbok, frontière des enfants d'Ammon;

¹⁶ולראובני ולגדי נתתי מן הגלעד ועד נחל ארנן תוך הנחל וגבל ועד יבק הנחל גבול בני עמון׃

¹⁷the Arabah also, and the Jordan and the border [thereof], from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah eastward.

¹⁷je leur donnai encore la plaine, limitée par le Jourdain, depuis Kinnéreth jusqu'à la mer de la plaine, la mer Salée, au pied du Pisga vers l'orient.

¹⁷והערבה והירדן וגבל מכנרת ועד ים הערבה ים המלח תחת אשדת הפסגה מזרחה׃

¹⁸And I commanded you at that time, saying, Jehovah your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all the men of valor.

¹⁸En ce temps-là, je vous donnai cet ordre. L'Eternel, votre Dieu, vous livre ce pays, pour que vous le possédiez. Vous tous, soldats, vous marcherez en armes devant les enfants d'Israël.

¹⁸ואצו אתכם בעת ההוא לאמר יהוה אלהיכם נתן לכם את הארץ הזאת לרשתה חלוצים תעברו לפני אחיכם בני ישראל כל בני חיל׃

¹⁹But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (I know that ye have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you,

¹⁹Vos femmes seulement, vos petits enfants et vos troupeaux-je sais que vous avez de nombreux troupeaux-resteront dans les villes que je vous ai données,

¹⁹רק נשיכם וטפכם ומקנכם ידעתי כי מקנה רב לכם ישבו בעריכם אשר נתתי לכם׃

²⁰until Jehovah give rest unto your brethren, as unto you, and they also possess the land which Jehovah your God giveth them beyond the Jordan: then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.

²⁰jusqu'à ce que l'Eternel ait accordé du repos à vos frères comme à vous, et qu'ils possèdent, eux aussi, le pays que l'Eternel, votre Dieu, leur donne de l'autre côté du Jourdain. Et vous retournerez chacun dans l'héritage que je vous ai donné.

²⁰עד אשר יניח יהוה לאחיכם ככם וירשו גם הם את הארץ אשר יהוה אלהיכם נתן להם בעבר הירדן ושבתם איש לירשתו אשר נתתי לכם׃

²¹And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that Jehovah your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall Jehovah do unto all the kingdoms whither thou goest over.

²¹En ce temps-là, je donnai des ordres à Josué, et je dis: Tes yeux ont vu tout ce que l'Eternel, votre Dieu, a fait à ces deux rois: ainsi fera l'Eternel à tous les royaumes contre lesquels tu vas marcher.

²¹ואת יהושוע צויתי בעת ההוא לאמר עיניך הראת את כל אשר עשה יהוה אלהיכם לשני המלכים האלה כן יעשה יהוה לכל הממלכות אשר אתה עבר שמה׃

²²Ye shall not fear them; for Jehovah your God, he it is that fighteth for you.

²²Ne les craignez point; car l'Eternel, votre Dieu, combattra lui-même pour vous.

²²לא תיראום כי יהוה אלהיכם הוא הנלחם לכם׃

²³And I besought Jehovah at that time, saying,

²³En ce temps-là, j'implorai la miséricorde de l'Eternel, en disant:

²³ואתחנן אל יהוה בעת ההוא לאמר׃

²⁴O Lord Jehovah, thou hast begun to show thy servant thy greatness, and thy strong hand: for what god is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy mighty acts?

²⁴Seigneur Eternel, tu as commencé à montrer à ton serviteur ta grandeur et ta main puissante; car quel dieu y a-t-il, au ciel et sur la terre, qui puisse imiter tes oeuvres et tes hauts faits?

²⁴אדני יהוה אתה החלות להראות את עבדך את גדלך ואת ידך החזקה אשר מי אל בשמים ובארץ אשר יעשה כמעשיך וכגבורתך׃

²⁵Let me go over, I pray thee, and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.

²⁵Laisse-moi passer, je te prie, laisse-moi voir ce bon pays de l'autre côté du Jourdain, ces belles montagnes et le Liban.

²⁵אעברה נא ואראה את הארץ הטובה אשר בעבר הירדן ההר הטוב הזה והלבנון׃

²⁶But Jehovah was wroth with me for your sakes, and hearkened not unto me; and Jehovah said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.

²⁶Mais l'Eternel s'irrita contre moi, à cause de vous, et il ne m'écouta point. L'Eternel me dit: C'est assez, ne me parle plus de cette affaire.

²⁶ויתעבר יהוה בי למענכם ולא שמע אלי ויאמר יהוה אלי רב לך אל תוסף דבר אלי עוד בדבר הזה׃

²⁷Get thee up unto the top of Pisgah, and lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

²⁷Monte au sommet du Pisga, porte tes regards à l'occident, au nord, au midi et à l'orient, et contemple de tes yeux; car tu ne passeras pas ce Jourdain.

²⁷עלה ראש הפסגה ושא עיניך ימה וצפנה ותימנה ומזרחה וראה בעיניך כי לא תעבר את הירדן הזה׃

²⁸But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

²⁸Donne des ordres à Josué, fortifie-le et affermis-le; car c'est lui qui marchera devant ce peuple et qui le mettra en possession du pays que tu verras.

²⁸וצו את יהושע וחזקהו ואמצהו כי הוא יעבר לפני העם הזה והוא ינחיל אותם את הארץ אשר תראה׃

²⁹So we abode in the valley over against Beth-peor.

²⁹Nous demeurâmes dans la vallée, vis-à-vis de Beth-Peor.

²⁹ונשב בגיא מול בית פעור׃
