1Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the entrance of the house.
1Le troisième jour, Esther mit ses vêtements royaux et se présenta dans la cour intérieure de la maison du roi, devant la maison du roi. Le roi était assis sur son trône royal dans la maison royale, en face de l'entrée de la maison.
1ויהי ביום השלישי ותלבש אסתר מלכות ותעמד בחצר בית המלך הפנימית נכח בית המלך והמלך יושב על כסא מלכותו בבית המלכות נכח פתח הבית׃
2And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favor in his sight; and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
2Lorsque le roi vit la reine Esther debout dans la cour, elle trouva grâce à ses yeux; et le roi tendit à Esther le sceptre d'or qu'il tenait à la main. Esther s'approcha, et toucha le bout du sceptre.
2ויהי כראות המלך את אסתר המלכה עמדת בחצר נשאה חן בעיניו ויושט המלך לאסתר את שרביט הזהב אשר בידו ותקרב אסתר ותגע בראש השרביט׃
3Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be given thee even to the half of the kingdom.
3Le roi lui dit: Qu'as-tu, reine Esther, et que demandes-tu? Quand ce serait la moitié du royaume, elle te serait donnée.
3ויאמר לה המלך מה לך אסתר המלכה ומה בקשתך עד חצי המלכות וינתן לך׃
4And Esther said, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.
4Esther répondit: Si le roi le trouve bon, que le roi vienne aujourd'hui avec Haman au festin que je lui ai préparé.
4ותאמר אסתר אם על המלך טוב יבוא המלך והמן היום אל המשתה אשר עשיתי לו׃
5Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that it may be done as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
5Et le roi dit: Allez tout de suite chercher Haman, comme le désire Esther. Le roi se rendit avec Haman au festin qu'avait préparé Esther.
5ויאמר המלך מהרו את המן לעשות את דבר אסתר ויבא המלך והמן אל המשתה אשר עשתה אסתר׃
6And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.
6Et pendant qu'on buvait le vin, le roi dit à Esther: Quelle est ta demande? Elle te sera accordée. Que désires-tu? Quand ce serait la moitié du royaume, tu l'obtiendras.
6ויאמר המלך לאסתר במשתה היין מה שאלתך וינתן לך ומה בקשתך עד חצי המלכות ותעש׃
7Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is:
7Esther répondit: Voici ce que je demande et ce que je désire.
7ותען אסתר ותאמר שאלתי ובקשתי׃
8if I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to-morrow as the king hath said.
8Si j'ai trouvé grâce aux yeux du roi, et s'il plaît au roi d'accorder ma demande et de satisfaire mon désir, que le roi vienne avec Haman au festin que je leur préparerai, et demain je donnerai réponse au roi selon son ordre.
8אם מצאתי חן בעיני המלך ואם על המלך טוב לתת את שאלתי ולעשות את בקשתי יבוא המלך והמן אל המשתה אשר אעשה להם ומחר אעשה כדבר המלך׃
9Then went Haman forth that day joyful and glad of heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up nor moved for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.
9Haman sortit ce jour-là, joyeux et le coeur content. Mais lorsqu'il vit, à la porte du roi, Mardochée qui ne se levait ni ne se remuait devant lui, il fut rempli de colère contre Mardochée.
9ויצא המן ביום ההוא שמח וטוב לב וכראות המן את מרדכי בשער המלך ולא קם ולא זע ממנו וימלא המן על מרדכי חמה׃
10Nevertheless Haman refrained himself, and went home; and he sent and fetched his friends and Zeresh his wife.
10Il sut néanmoins se contenir, et il alla chez lui. Puis il envoya chercher ses amis et Zéresch, sa femme.
10ויתאפק המן ויבוא אל ביתו וישלח ויבא את אהביו ואת זרש אשתו׃
11And Haman recounted unto them the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
11Haman leur parla de la magnificence de ses richesses, du nombre de ses fils, de tout ce qu'avait fait le roi pour l'élever en dignité, et du rang qu'il lui avait donné au-dessus des chefs et des serviteurs du roi.
11ויספר להם המן את כבוד עשרו ורב בניו ואת כל אשר גדלו המלך ואת אשר נשאו על השרים ועבדי המלך׃
12Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to-morrow also am I invited by her together with the king.
12Et il ajouta: Je suis même le seul que la reine Esther ait admis avec le roi au festin qu'elle a fait, et je suis encore invité pour demain chez elle avec le roi.
12ויאמר המן אף לא הביאה אסתר המלכה עם המלך אל המשתה אשר עשתה כי אם אותי וגם למחר אני קרוא לה עם המלך׃
13Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.
13Mais tout cela n'est d'aucun prix pour moi aussi longtemps que je verrai Mardochée, le Juif, assis à la porte du roi.
13וכל זה איננו שוה לי בכל עת אשר אני ראה את מרדכי היהודי יושב בשער המלך׃
14Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.
14Zéresch, sa femme, et tous ses amis lui dirent: Qu'on prépare un bois haut de cinquante coudées, et demain matin demande au roi qu'on y pende Mardochée; puis tu iras joyeux au festin avec le roi. Cet avis plut à Haman, et il fit préparer le bois.
14ותאמר לו זרש אשתו וכל אהביו יעשו עץ גבה חמשים אמה ובבקר אמר למלך ויתלו את מרדכי עליו ובא עם המלך אל המשתה שמח וייטב הדבר לפני המן ויעש העץ׃
