¹Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], in the fifth [day] of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

¹La trentième année, le cinquième jour du quatrième mois, comme j'étais parmi les captifs du fleuve du Kebar, les cieux s'ouvrirent, et j'eus des visions divines.

¹ויהי בשלשים שנה ברביעי בחמשה לחדש ואני בתוך הגולה על נהר כבר נפתחו השמים ואראה מראות אלהים׃

²In the fifth [day] of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

²Le cinquième jour du mois, c'était la cinquième année de la captivité du roi Jojakin, -

²בחמשה לחדש היא השנה החמישית לגלות המלך יויכין׃

³the word of Jehovah came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of Jehovah was there upon him.

³la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Ezéchiel, fils de Buzi, le sacrificateur, dans le pays des Chaldéens, près du fleuve du Kebar; et c'est là que la main de l'Eternel fut sur lui.

³היה היה דבר יהוה אל יחזקאל בן בוזי הכהן בארץ כשדים על נהר כבר ותהי עליו שם יד יהוה׃

⁴And I looked, and, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, with a fire infolding itself, and a brightness round about it, and out of the midst thereof as it were glowing metal, out of the midst of the fire.

⁴Je regardai, et voici, il vint du septentrion un vent impétueux, une grosse nuée, et une gerbe de feu, qui répandait de tous côtés une lumière éclatante, au centre de laquelle brillait comme de l'airain poli, sortant du milieu du feu.

⁴וארא והנה רוח סערה באה מן הצפון ענן גדול ואש מתלקחת ונגה לו סביב ומתוכה כעין החשמל מתוך האש׃

⁵And out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.

⁵Au centre encore, apparaissaient quatre animaux, dont l'aspect avait une ressemblance humaine.

⁵ומתוכה דמות ארבע חיות וזה מראיהן דמות אדם להנה׃

⁶And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings.

⁶Chacun d'eux avait quatre faces, et chacun avait quatre ailes.

⁶וארבעה פנים לאחת וארבע כנפים לאחת להם׃

⁷And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot; and they sparkled like burnished brass.

⁷Leurs pieds étaient droits, et la plante de leurs pieds était comme celle du pied d'un veau, ils étincelaient comme de l'airain poli.

⁷ורגליהם רגל ישרה וכף רגליהם ככף רגל עגל ונצצים כעין נחשת קלל׃

⁸And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings [thus]:

⁸Ils avaient des mains d'homme sous les ailes à leurs quatre côtés; et tous les quatre avaient leurs faces et leurs ailes.

⁸וידו אדם מתחת כנפיהם על ארבעת רבעיהם ופניהם וכנפיהם לארבעתם׃

⁹their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

⁹Leurs ailes étaient jointes l'une à l'autre; ils ne se tournaient point en marchant, mais chacun marchait droit devant soi.

⁹חברת אשה אל אחותה כנפיהם לא יסבו בלכתן איש אל עבר פניו ילכו׃

¹⁰As for the likeness of their faces, they had the face of a man; and they four had the face of a lion on the right side; and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four had also the face of an eagle.

¹⁰Quant à la figure de leurs faces, ils avaient tous une face d'homme, tous quatre une face de lion à droite, tous quatre une face de boeuf à gauche, et tous quatre une face d'aigle.

¹⁰ודמות פניהם פני אדם ופני אריה אל הימין לארבעתם ופני שור מהשמאול לארבעתן ופני נשר לארבעתן׃

¹¹And their faces and their wings were separate above; two [wings] of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

¹¹Leurs faces et leurs ailes étaient séparées par le haut; deux de leurs ailes étaient jointes l'une à l'autre, et deux couvraient leurs corps.

¹¹ופניהם וכנפיהם פרדות מלמעלה לאיש שתים חברות איש ושתים מכסות את גויתיהנה׃

¹²And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; they turned not when they went.

¹²Chacun marchait droit devant soi; ils allaient où l'esprit les poussait à aller, et ils ne se tournaient point dans leur marche.

¹²ואיש אל עבר פניו ילכו אל אשר יהיה שמה הרוח ללכת ילכו לא יסבו בלכתן׃

¹³As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches: [the fire] went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

¹³L'aspect de ces animaux ressemblait à des charbons de feu ardents, c'était comme l'aspect des flambeaux, et ce feu circulait entre les animaux; il jetait une lumière éclatante, et il en sortait des éclairs.

¹³ודמות החיות מראיהם כגחלי אש בערות כמראה הלפדים היא מתהלכת בין החיות ונגה לאש ומן האש יוצא ברק׃

¹⁴And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

¹⁴Et les animaux couraient et revenaient comme la foudre.

¹⁴והחיות רצוא ושוב כמראה הבזק׃

¹⁵Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold, one wheel upon the earth beside the living creatures, for each of the four faces thereof.

¹⁵Je regardais ces animaux; et voici, il y avait une roue sur la terre, près des animaux, devant leurs quatre faces.

¹⁵וארא החיות והנה אופן אחד בארץ אצל החיות לארבעת פניו׃

¹⁶The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto a beryl: and they four had one likeness; and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel within a wheel.

¹⁶A leur aspect et à leur structure, ces roues semblaient être en chrysolithe, et toutes les quatre avaient la même forme; leur aspect et leur structure étaient tels que chaque roue paraissait être au milieu d'une autre roue.

¹⁶מראה האופנים ומעשיהם כעין תרשיש ודמות אחד לארבעתן ומראיהם ומעשיהם כאשר יהיה האופן בתוך האופן׃

¹⁷When they went, they went in their four directions: they turned not when they went.

¹⁷En cheminant, elles allaient de leurs quatre côtés, et elles ne se tournaient point dans leur marche.

¹⁷על ארבעת רבעיהן בלכתם ילכו לא יסבו בלכתן׃

¹⁸As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and they four had their rims full of eyes round about.

¹⁸Elles avaient une circonférence et une hauteur effrayantes, et à leur circonférence les quatre roues étaient remplies d'yeux tout autour.

¹⁸וגביהן וגבה להם ויראה להם וגבתם מלאת עינים סביב לארבעתן׃

¹⁹And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

¹⁹Quand les animaux marchaient, les roues cheminaient à côté d'eux; et quand les animaux s'élevaient de terre, les roues s'élevaient aussi.

¹⁹ובלכת החיות ילכו האופנים אצלם ובהנשא החיות מעל הארץ ינשאו האופנים׃

²⁰Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went; thither was the spirit to go: and the wheels were lifted up beside them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

²⁰Ils allaient où l'esprit les poussait à aller; et les roues s'élevaient avec eux, car l'esprit des animaux était dans les roues.

²⁰על אשר יהיה שם הרוח ללכת ילכו שמה הרוח ללכת והאופנים ינשאו לעמתם כי רוח החיה באופנים׃

²¹When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up beside them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

²¹Quand ils marchaient, elles marchaient; quand ils s'arrêtaient, elles s'arrêtaient; quand ils s'élevaient de terre, les roues s'élevaient avec eux, car l'esprit des animaux était dans les roues.

²¹בלכתם ילכו ובעמדם יעמדו ובהנשאם מעל הארץ ינשאו האופנים לעמתם כי רוח החיה באופנים׃

²²And over the head of the living creature there was the likeness of a firmament, like the terrible crystal to look upon, stretched forth over their heads above.

²²Au-dessus des têtes des animaux, il y avait comme un ciel de cristal resplendissant, qui s'étendait sur leurs têtes dans le haut.

²²ודמות על ראשי החיה רקיע כעין הקרח הנורא נטוי על ראשיהם מלמעלה׃

²³And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two which covered on this side, and every one had two which covered on that side, their bodies.

²³Sous ce ciel, leurs ailes étaient droites l'une contre l'autre, et ils en avaient chacun deux qui les couvraient, chacun deux qui couvraient leurs corps.

²³ותחת הרקיע כנפיהם ישרות אשה אל אחותה לאיש שתים מכסות להנה ולאיש שתים מכסות להנה את גויתיהם׃

²⁴And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a noise of tumult like the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

²⁴J'entendis le bruit de leurs ailes, quand ils marchaient, pareil au bruit de grosses eaux, ou à la voix du Tout-Puissant; c'était un bruit tumultueux, comme celui d'une armée; quand ils s'arrêtaient, ils laissaient tomber leurs ailes.

²⁴ואשמע את קול כנפיהם כקול מים רבים כקול שדי בלכתם קול המלה כקול מחנה בעמדם תרפינה כנפיהן׃

²⁵And there was a voice above the firmament that was over their heads: when they stood, they let down their wings.

²⁵Et il se faisait un bruit qui partait du ciel étendu sur leurs têtes, lorsqu'ils s'arrêtaient et laissaient tomber leurs ailes.

²⁵ויהי קול מעל לרקיע אשר על ראשם בעמדם תרפינה כנפיהן׃

²⁶And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man upon it above.

²⁶Au-dessus du ciel qui était sur leurs têtes, il y avait quelque chose de semblable à une pierre de saphir, en forme de trône; et sur cette forme de trône apparaissait comme une figure d'homme placé dessus en haut.

²⁶וממעל לרקיע אשר על ראשם כמראה אבן ספיר דמות כסא ועל דמות הכסא דמות כמראה אדם עליו מלמעלה׃

²⁷And I saw as it were glowing metal, as the appearance of fire within it round about, from the appearance of his loins and upward; and from the appearance of his loins and downward I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness round about him.

²⁷Je vis encore comme de l'airain poli, comme du feu, au dedans duquel était cet homme, et qui rayonnait tout autour; depuis la forme de ses reins jusqu'en haut, et depuis la forme de ses reins jusqu'en bas, je vis comme du feu, et comme une lumière éclatante, dont il était environné.

²⁷וארא כעין חשמל כמראה אש בית לה סביב ממראה מתניו ולמעלה וממראה מתניו ולמטה ראיתי כמראה אש ונגה לו סביב׃

²⁸As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

²⁸Tel l'aspect de l'arc qui est dans la nue en un jour de pluie, ainsi était l'aspect de cette lumière éclatante, qui l'entourait: c'était une image de la gloire de l'Eternel. A cette vue, je tombai sur ma face, et j'entendis la voix de quelqu'un qui parlait.

²⁸כמראה הקשת אשר יהיה בענן ביום הגשם כן מראה הנגה סביב הוא מראה דמות כבוד יהוה ואראה ואפל על פני ואשמע קול מדבר׃
