¹Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

¹La parole de l'Eternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:

¹ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר׃

²Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

²Fils de l'homme, tourne ta face vers la montagne de Séir, Et prophétise contre elle!

²בן אדם שים פניך על הר שעיר והנבא עליו׃

³and say unto it, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, O mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against thee, and I will make thee a desolation and an astonishment.

³Tu lui diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Voici, j'en veux à toi, montagne de Séir! J'étends ma main sur toi, Et je fais de toi une solitude et un désert.

³ואמרת לו כה אמר אדני יהוה הנני אליך הר שעיר ונטיתי ידי עליך ונתתיך שממה ומשמה׃

⁴I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah.

⁴Je mettrai tes villes en ruines, Tu deviendras une solitude, Et tu sauras que je suis l'Eternel.

⁴עריך חרבה אשים ואתה שממה תהיה וידעת כי אני יהוה׃

⁵Because thou hast had a perpetual enmity, and hast given over the children of Israel to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end;

⁵Parce que tu avais une haine éternelle, Parce que tu as précipité par le glaive les enfants d'Israël, Au jour de leur détresse, Au temps où l'iniquité était à son terme,

⁵יען היות לך איבת עולם ותגר את בני ישראל על ידי חרב בעת אידם בעת עון קץ׃

⁶therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: since thou hast not hated blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee.

⁶Je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel, Je te mettrai à sang, et le sang te poursuivra; Puisque tu n'as pas haï le sang, Le sang te poursuivra.

⁶לכן חי אני נאם אדני יהוה כי לדם אעשך ודם ירדפך אם לא דם שנאת ודם ירדפך׃

⁷Thus will I make mount Seir an astonishment and a desolation; and I will cut off from it him that passeth through and him that returneth.

⁷Je ferai de la montagne de Séir une solitude et un désert, Et j'en exterminerai les allants et les venants.

⁷ונתתי את הר שעיר לשממה ושממה והכרתי ממנו עבר ושב׃

⁸And I will fill its mountains with its slain: in thy hills and in thy valleys and in all thy watercourses shall they fall that are slain with the sword.

⁸Je remplirai de morts ses montagnes; Sur tes collines, dans tes vallées, dans tous tes ravins, Tomberont ceux qui seront frappés par l'épée.

⁸ומלאתי את הריו חלליו גבעותיך וגיאותיך וכל אפיקיך חללי חרב יפלו בהם׃

⁹I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not be inhabited; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

⁹Je ferai de toi des solitudes éternelles, Tes villes ne seront plus habitées, Et vous saurez que je suis l'Eternel.

⁹שממות עולם אתנך ועריך לא תישבנה וידעתם כי אני יהוה׃

¹⁰Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas Jehovah was there:

¹⁰Parce que tu as dit: Les deux nations, les deux pays seront à moi, Et nous en prendrons possession, Quand même l'Eternel était là,

¹⁰יען אמרך את שני הגוים ואת שתי הארצות לי תהיינה וירשנוה ויהוה שם היה׃

¹¹therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast showed out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge thee.

¹¹Je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Eternel, J'agirai avec la colère et la fureur Que tu as montrées, dans ta haine contre eux; Et je me ferai connaître au milieu d'eux, Quand je te jugerai.

¹¹לכן חי אני נאם אדני יהוה ועשיתי כאפך וכקנאתך אשר עשיתה משנאתיך בם ונודעתי בם כאשר אשפטך׃

¹²And thou shalt know that I, Jehovah, have heard all thy revilings which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour.

¹²Tu sauras que moi, l'Eternel, J'ai entendu tous les outrages Que tu as proférés contre les montagnes d'Israël, En disant: Elles sont dévastées, Elles nous sont livrées comme une proie.

¹²וידעת כי אני יהוה שמעתי את כל נאצותיך אשר אמרת על הרי ישראל לאמר שממה לנו נתנו לאכלה׃

¹³And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard it.

¹³Vous vous êtes élevés contre moi par vos discours, Vous avez multiplié vos paroles contre moi: J'ai entendu.

¹³ותגדילו עלי בפיכם והעתרתם עלי דבריכם אני שמעתי׃

¹⁴Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

¹⁴Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Eternel: Lorsque tout le pays sera dans la joie, Je ferai de toi une solitude.

¹⁴כה אמר אדני יהוה כשמח כל הארץ שממה אעשה לך׃

¹⁵As thou didst rejoice over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

¹⁵A cause de la joie que tu as éprouvée Parce que l'héritage de la maison d'Israël était dévasté, Je te traiterai de la même manière; Tu deviendras une solitude, montagne de Séir, Toi, et Edom tout entier. Et ils sauront que je suis l'Eternel.

¹⁵כשמחתך לנחלת בית ישראל על אשר שממה כן אעשה לך שממה תהיה הר שעיר וכל אדום כלה וידעו כי אני יהוה׃
