¹For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

¹En effet, tout souverain sacrificateur pris du milieu des hommes est établi pour les hommes dans le service de Dieu, afin de présenter des offrandes et des sacrifices pour les péchés.

¹כי כל כהן גדול הלקוח מתוך בני אדם מפקד הוא בעבור בני אדם בעניני אלהים להקריב מנחה וזבח על החטאים׃

²who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity;

²Il peut être indulgent pour les ignorants et les égarés, puisque la faiblesse est aussi son partage.

²והוא יכול לחמל על השגגים והתעים בהיותו גם הוא ידוע חלי׃

³and by reason thereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

³Et c'est à cause de cette faiblesse qu'il doit offrir des sacrifices pour ses propres péchés, comme pour ceux du peuple.

³אשר על כן חיב להקריב על החטאים גם בעד העם גם בעד נפשו׃

⁴And no man taketh the honor unto himself, but when he is called of God, even as was Aaron.

⁴Nul ne s'attribue cette dignité, s'il n'est appelé de Dieu, comme le fut Aaron.

⁴ואת הגדלה הזאת לא יקח איש לעצמו רק הקרוא לה מאת האלהים כמו אהרן׃

⁵So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spake unto him, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee:

⁵Et Christ ne s'est pas non plus attribué la gloire de devenir souverain sacrificateur, mais il la tient de celui qui lui a dit: Tu es mon Fils, Je t'ai engendré aujourd'hui!

⁵כן גם המשיח לא כבד את עצמו להיות כהן גדול כי אם האמר אליו בני אתה אני היום ילדתיך׃

⁶as he saith also in another [place,] Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek.

⁶Comme il dit encore ailleurs: Tu es sacrificateur pour toujours, Selon l'ordre de Melchisédek.

⁶כמו שאמר גם במקום אחר אתה כהן לעולם על דברתי מלכי צדק׃

⁷Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,

⁷C'est lui qui, dans les jours de sa chair, ayant présenté avec de grands cris et avec larmes des prières et des supplications à celui qui pouvait le sauver de la mort, et ayant été exaucé à cause de sa piété,

⁷אשר בימי היותו בבשר הקריב תפלות ותחנונים בצעקה גדולה ובדעות לפני מי שיכול להושיעו ממות ויעתר לו מפני יראתו׃

⁸though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered;

⁸a appris, bien qu'il fût Fils, l'obéissance par les choses qu'il a souffertes,

⁸ואף כי היה הבן למד מענותו לשמוע׃

⁹and having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation;

⁹et qui, après avoir été élevé à la perfection, est devenu pour tous ceux qui lui obéissent l'auteur d'un salut éternel,

⁹ואחרי אשר השלם היה ממציא תשועת עולמים לכל שמעיו׃

¹⁰named of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

¹⁰Dieu l'ayant déclaré souverain sacrificateur selon l'ordre de Melchisédek.

¹⁰והאלהים קרא לו כהן גדול על דברתי מלכי צדק׃

¹¹Of whom we have many things to say, and hard of interpretation, seeing ye are become dull of hearing.

¹¹Nous avons beaucoup à dire là-dessus, et des choses difficiles à expliquer, parce que vous êtes devenus lents à comprendre.

¹¹על זאת יש לנו לדבר הרבה וקשות לבאר לכם במלין יען כי כבדו אזניכם׃

¹²For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.

¹²Vous, en effet, qui depuis longtemps devriez être des maîtres, vous avez encore besoin qu'on vous enseigne les premiers rudiments des oracles de Dieu, vous en êtes venus à avoir besoin de lait et non d'une nourriture solide.

¹²כי תחת אשר היה ראוי לכם לפי ארך הזמן להיות מלמדים עתה מן הצרך לשוב וללמד אתכם עקרי ראשית דברי אלהים ונצרכתם לחלב ולא למאכל בריא׃

¹³For every one that partaketh of milk is without experience of the word of righteousness; for he is a babe.

¹³Or, quiconque en est au lait n'a pas l'expérience de la parole de justice; car il est un enfant.

¹³כי כל אשר מאכלו חלב איננו מבין בדבר צדק כי עודנו עולל׃

¹⁴But solid food is for fullgrown men, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.

¹⁴Mais la nourriture solide est pour les hommes faits, pour ceux dont le jugement est exercé par l'usage à discerner ce qui est bien et ce qui est mal.

¹⁴אך לשלמים המאכל הבריא אשר על פי ההרגל יש להם חושים מנסים להבדיל בין טוב לרע׃
