1Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the peoples renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak; let us come near together to judgment.
1Iles, faites silence pour m'écouter! Que les peuples raniment leur force, Qu'ils avancent, et qu'ils parlent! Approchons pour plaider ensemble.
1החרישו אלי איים ולאמים יחליפו כח יגשו אז ידברו יחדו למשפט נקרבה׃
2Who hath raised up one from the east, whom he calleth in righteousness to his foot? he giveth nations before him, and maketh him rule over kings; he giveth them as the dust to his sword, as the driven stubble to his bow.
2Qui a suscité de l'orient Celui que le salut appelle à sa suite? Qui lui a livré les nations et assujetti des rois? Qui a réduit leur glaive en poussière, Et leur arc en un chaume qui s'envole?
2מי העיר ממזרח צדק יקראהו לרגלו יתן לפניו גוים ומלכים ירד יתן כעפר חרבו כקש נדף קשתו׃
3He pursueth them, and passeth on safely, even by a way that he had not gone with his feet.
3Il s'est mis à leur poursuite, il a parcouru avec bonheur Un chemin que son pied n'avait jamais foulé.
3ירדפם יעבור שלום ארח ברגליו לא יבוא׃
4Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, Jehovah, the first, and with the last, I am he.
4Qui a fait et exécuté ces choses? C'est celui qui a appelé les générations dès le commencement, Moi, l'Eternel, le premier Et le même jusqu'aux derniers âges.
4מי פעל ועשה קרא הדרות מראש אני יהוה ראשון ואת אחרנים אני הוא׃
5The isles have seen, and fear; the ends of the earth tremble; they draw near, and come.
5Les îles le voient, et sont dans la crainte, Les extrémités de la terre tremblent: Ils s'approchent, ils viennent.
5ראו איים וייראו קצות הארץ יחרדו קרבו ויאתיון׃
6They help every one his neighbor; and [every one] saith to his brother, Be of good courage.
6Ils s'aident l'un l'autre, Et chacun dit à son frère: Courage!
6איש את רעהו יעזרו ולאחיו יאמר חזק׃
7So the carpenter encourageth the goldsmith, [and] he that smootheth with the hammer him that smiteth the anvil, saying of the soldering, It is good; and he fasteneth it with nails, that is should not be moved.
7Le sculpteur encourage le fondeur; Celui qui polit au marteau encourage celui qui frappe sur l'enclume; Il dit de la soudure: Elle est bonne! Et il fixe l'idole avec des clous, pour qu'elle ne branle pas.
7ויחזק חרש את צרף מחליק פטיש את הולם פעם אמר לדבק טוב הוא ויחזקהו במסמרים לא ימוט׃
8But thou, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend,
8Mais toi, Israël, mon serviteur, Jacob, que j'ai choisi, Race d'Abraham que j'ai aimé!
8ואתה ישראל עבדי יעקב אשר בחרתיך זרע אברהם אהבי׃
9thou whom I have taken hold of from the ends of the earth, and called from the corners thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant, I have chosen thee and not cast thee away;
9Toi, que j'ai pris aux extrémités de la terre, Et que j'ai appelé d'une contrée lointaine, A qui j'ai dit: Tu es mon serviteur, Je te choisis, et ne te rejette point!
9אשר החזקתיך מקצות הארץ ומאציליה קראתיך ואמר לך עבדי אתה בחרתיך ולא מאסתיך׃
10Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
10Ne crains rien, car je suis avec toi; Ne promène pas des regards inquiets, car je suis ton Dieu; Je te fortifie, je viens à ton secours, Je te soutiens de ma droite triomphante.
10אל תירא כי עמך אני אל תשתע כי אני אלהיך אמצתיך אף עזרתיך אף תמכתיך בימין צדקי׃
11Behold, all they that are incensed against thee shall be put to shame and confounded: they that strive with thee shall be as nothing, and shall perish.
11Voici, ils seront confondus, ils seront couverts de honte, Tous ceux qui sont irrités contre toi; Ils seront réduits à rien, ils périront, Ceux qui disputent contre toi.
11הן יבשו ויכלמו כל הנחרים בך יהיו כאין ויאבדו אנשי ריבך׃
12Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contend with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
12Tu les chercheras, et ne les trouveras plus, Ceux qui te suscitaient querelle; Ils seront réduits à rien, réduits au néant, Ceux qui te faisaient la guerre.
12תבקשם ולא תמצאם אנשי מצתך יהיו כאין וכאפס אנשי מלחמתך׃
13For I, Jehovah thy God, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
13Car je suis l'Eternel, ton Dieu, Qui fortifie ta droite, Qui te dis: Ne crains rien, Je viens à ton secours.
13כי אני יהוה אלהיך מחזיק ימינך האמר לך אל תירא אני עזרתיך׃
14Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith Jehovah, and thy Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.
14Ne crains rien, vermisseau de Jacob, Faible reste d'Israël; Je viens à ton secours, dit l'Eternel, Et le Saint d'Israël est ton sauveur.
14אל תיראי תולעת יעקב מתי ישראל אני עזרתיך נאם יהוה וגאלך קדוש ישראל׃
15Behold, I have made thee [to be] a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth; thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
15Voici, je fais de toi un traîneau aigu, tout neuf, Garni de pointes; Tu écraseras, tu broieras les montagnes, Et tu rendras les collines semblables à de la balle.
15הנה שמתיך למורג חרוץ חדש בעל פיפיות תדוש הרים ותדק וגבעות כמץ תשים׃
16Thou shalt winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; and thou shalt rejoice in Jehovah, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
16Tu les vanneras, et le vent les emportera, Et un tourbillon les dispersera. Mais toi, tu te réjouiras en l'Eternel, Tu mettras ta gloire dans le Saint d'Israël.
16תזרם ורוח תשאם וסערה תפיץ אותם ואתה תגיל ביהוה בקדוש ישראל תתהלל׃
17The poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst; I, Jehovah, will answer them, I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
17Les malheureux et les indigents cherchent de l'eau, et il n'y en a point; Leur langue est desséchée par la soif. Moi, l'Eternel, je les exaucerai; Moi, le Dieu d'Israël, je ne les abandonnerai pas.
17העניים והאביונים מבקשים מים ואין לשונם בצמא נשתה אני יהוה אענם אלהי ישראל לא אעזבם׃
18I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
18Je ferai jaillir des fleuves sur les collines, Et des sources au milieu des vallées; Je changerai le désert en étang, Et la terre aride en courants d'eau;
18אפתח על שפיים נהרות ובתוך בקעות מעינות אשים מדבר לאגם מים וארץ ציה למוצאי מים׃
19I will put in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, and the myrtle, and the oil-tree; I will set in the desert the fir-tree, the pine, and the box-tree together:
19Je mettrai dans le désert le cèdre, l'acacia, Le myrte et l'olivier; Je mettrai dans les lieux stériles Le cyprès, l'orme et le buis, tous ensemble;
19אתן במדבר ארז שטה והדס ועץ שמן אשים בערבה ברוש תדהר ותאשור יחדו׃
20that they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of Jehovah hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
20Afin qu'ils voient, qu'ils sachent, Qu'ils observent et considèrent Que la main de l'Eternel a fait ces choses, Que le Saint d'Israël en est l'auteur.
20למען יראו וידעו וישימו וישכילו יחדו כי יד יהוה עשתה זאת וקדוש ישראל בראה׃
21Produce your cause, saith Jehovah; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
21Plaidez votre cause, Dit l'Eternel; Produisez vos moyens de défense, Dit le roi de Jacob.
21קרבו ריבכם יאמר יהוה הגישו עצמותיכם יאמר מלך יעקב׃
22Let them bring forth, and declare unto us what shall happen: declare ye the former things, what they are, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or show us things to come.
22Qu'ils les produisent, et qu'ils nous déclarent Ce qui doit arriver. Quelles sont les prédictions que jadis vous avez faites? Dites-le, pour que nous y prenions garde, Et que nous en reconnaissions l'accomplissement; Ou bien, annoncez-nous l'avenir.
22יגישו ויגידו לנו את אשר תקרינה הראשנות מה הנה הגידו ונשימה לבנו ונדעה אחריתן או הבאות השמיענו׃
23Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
23Dites ce qui arrivera plus tard, Pour que nous sachions si vous êtes des dieux; Faites seulement quelque chose de bien ou de mal, Pour que nous le voyions et le regardions ensemble.
23הגידו האתיות לאחור ונדעה כי אלהים אתם אף תיטיבו ותרעו ונשתעה ונרא יחדו׃
24Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work is of nought; an abomination is he that chooseth you.
24Voici, vous n'êtes rien, Et votre oeuvre est le néant; C'est une abomination que de se complaire en vous.
24הן אתם מאין ופעלכם מאפע תועבה יבחר בכם׃
25I have raised up one from the north, and he is come; from the rising of the sun one that calleth upon my name: and he shall come upon rulers as upon mortar, and as the potter treadeth clay.
25Je l'ai suscité du septentrion, et il est venu; De l'orient, il invoque mon nom; Il foule les puissants comme de la boue, Comme de l'argile que foule un potier.
25העירותי מצפון ויאת ממזרח שמש יקרא בשמי ויבא סגנים כמו חמר וכמו יוצר ירמס טיט׃
26Who hath declared it from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, [He is] right? yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that showeth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.
26Qui l'a annoncé dès le commencement, pour que nous le sachions, Et longtemps d'avance, pour que nous disions: C'est vrai? Nul ne l'a annoncé, nul ne l'a prédit, Et personne n'a entendu vos paroles.
26מי הגיד מראש ונדעה ומלפנים ונאמר צדיק אף אין מגיד אף אין משמיע אף אין שמע אמריכם׃
27[I am the] first [that saith] unto Zion, Behold, behold them; and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.
27C'est moi le premier qui ai dit à Sion: Les voici, les voici! Et à Jérusalem: J'envoie un messager de bonnes nouvelles!
27ראשון לציון הנה הנם ולירושלם מבשר אתן׃
28And when I look, there is no man: even among them there is no counsellor, that, when I ask of them, can answer a word.
28Je regarde, et il n'y a personne, Personne parmi eux qui prophétise, Et qui puisse répondre, si je l'interroge.
28וארא ואין איש ומאלה ואין יועץ ואשאלם וישיבו דבר׃
29Behold, all of them, their works are vanity [and] nought; their molten images are wind and confusion.
29Voici, ils ne sont tous que vanité, Leurs oeuvres ne sont que néant, Leurs idoles ne sont qu'un vain souffle.
29הן כלם און אפס מעשיהם רוח ותהו נסכיהם׃
