¹The word of Jehovah came also unto me, saying,

¹La parole de l'Eternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:

¹ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר׃

²Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters, in this place.

²Tu ne prendras point de femme, Et tu n'auras dans ce lieu ni fils ni filles.

²לא תקח לך אשה ולא יהיו לך בנים ובנות במקום הזה׃

³For thus saith Jehovah concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land:

³Car ainsi parle l'Eternel sur les fils et les filles Qui naîtront en ce lieu, Sur leurs mères qui les auront enfantés, Et sur leurs pères qui les auront engendrés dans ce pays:

³כי כה אמר יהוה על הבנים ועל הבנות הילודים במקום הזה ועל אמתם הילדות אותם ועל אבותם המולדים אותם בארץ הזאת׃

⁴They shall die grievous deaths: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried; they shall be as dung upon the face of the ground; and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the heavens, and for the beasts of the earth.

⁴Ils mourront consumés par la maladie; On ne leur donnera ni larmes ni sépulture; Ils seront comme du fumier sur la terre; Ils périront par l'épée et par la famine; Et leurs cadavres serviront de pâture Aux oiseaux du ciel et aux bêtes de la terre.

⁴ממותי תחלאים ימתו לא יספדו ולא יקברו לדמן על פני האדמה יהיו ובחרב וברעב יכלו והיתה נבלתם למאכל לעוף השמים ולבהמת הארץ׃

⁵For thus saith Jehovah, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament, neither bemoan them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith Jehovah, even lovingkindness and tender mercies.

⁵Car ainsi parle l'Eternel: N'entre pas dans une maison de deuil, N'y va pas pleurer, te lamenter avec eux; Car j'ai retiré à ce peuple ma paix, dit l'Eternel, Ma bonté et ma miséricorde.

⁵כי כה אמר יהוה אל תבוא בית מרזח ואל תלך לספוד ואל תנד להם כי אספתי את שלומי מאת העם הזה נאם יהוה את החסד ואת הרחמים׃

⁶Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them;

⁶Grands et petits mourront dans ce pays; On ne leur donnera point de sépulture; On ne les pleurera point, On ne se fera point d'incision, Et l'on ne se rasera pas pour eux.

⁶ומתו גדלים וקטנים בארץ הזאת לא יקברו ולא יספדו להם ולא יתגדד ולא יקרח להם׃

⁷neither shall men break [bread] for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.

⁷On ne rompra pas le pain dans le deuil Pour consoler quelqu'un au sujet d'un mort, Et l'on n'offrira pas la coupe de consolation Pour un père ou pour une mère.

⁷ולא יפרסו להם על אבל לנחמו על מת ולא ישקו אותם כוס תנחומים על אביו ועל אמו׃

⁸And thou shalt not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and to drink.

⁸N'entre pas non plus dans une maison de festin, Pour t'asseoir avec eux, Pour manger et pour boire.

⁸ובית משתה לא תבוא לשבת אותם לאכל ולשתות׃

⁹For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.

⁹Car ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Voici, je ferai cesser dans ce lieu, sous vos yeux et de vos jours, Les cris de réjouissance et les cris d'allégresse, Les chants du fiancé et les chants de la fiancée.

⁹כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל הנני משבית מן המקום הזה לעיניכם ובימיכם קול ששון וקול שמחה קול חתן וקול כלה׃

¹⁰And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against Jehovah our God?

¹⁰Lorsque tu annonceras à ce peuple toutes ces choses, Ils te diront: Pourquoi l'Eternel nous menace-t-il de tous ces grands malheurs? Quelle est notre iniquité? Quel péché avons-nous commis contre l'Eternel, notre Dieu?

¹⁰והיה כי תגיד לעם הזה את כל הדברים האלה ואמרו אליך על מה דבר יהוה עלינו את כל הרעה הגדולה הזאת ומה עוננו ומה חטאתנו אשר חטאנו ליהוה אלהינו׃

¹¹Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;

¹¹Alors tu leur répondras: Vos pères m'ont abandonné, dit l'Eternel, Ils sont allés après d'autres dieux, Ils les ont servis et se sont prosternés devant eux; Ils m'ont abandonné, et n'ont point observé ma loi.

¹¹ואמרת אליהם על אשר עזבו אבותיכם אותי נאם יהוה וילכו אחרי אלהים אחרים ויעבדום וישתחוו להם ואתי עזבו ואת תורתי לא שמרו׃

¹²and ye have done evil more than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that ye hearken not unto me:

¹²Et vous, vous avez fait le mal plus encore que vos pères; Et voici, vous suivez chacun les penchants de votre mauvais coeur, Pour ne point m'écouter.

¹²ואתם הרעתם לעשות מאבותיכם והנכם הלכים איש אחרי שררות לבו הרע לבלתי שמע אלי׃

¹³therefore will I cast you forth out of this land into the land that ye have not known, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; for I will show you no favor.

¹³Je vous transporterai de ce pays Dans un pays que vous n'avez point connu, Ni vous, ni vos pères; Et là, vous servirez les autres dieux jour et nuit, Car je ne vous accorderai point de grâce.

¹³והטלתי אתכם מעל הארץ הזאת על הארץ אשר לא ידעתם אתם ואבותיכם ועבדתם שם את אלהים אחרים יומם ולילה אשר לא אתן לכם חנינה׃

¹⁴Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that it shall no more be said, As Jehovah liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

¹⁴C'est pourquoi voici, les jours viennent, dit l'Eternel, Où l'on ne dira plus: L'Eternel est vivant, Lui qui a fait monter du pays d'Egypte les enfants d'Israël!

¹⁴לכן הנה ימים באים נאם יהוה ולא יאמר עוד חי יהוה אשר העלה את בני ישראל מארץ מצרים׃

¹⁵but, As Jehovah liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries whither he had driven them. And I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

¹⁵Mais on dira: L'Eternel est vivant, Lui qui a fait monter les enfants d'Israël du pays du septentrion Et de tous les pays où il les avait chassés! Je les ramènerai dans leur pays, Que j'avais donné à leurs pères.

¹⁵כי אם חי יהוה אשר העלה את בני ישראל מארץ צפון ומכל הארצות אשר הדיחם שמה והשבתים על אדמתם אשר נתתי לאבותם׃

¹⁶Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith Jehovah, and they shall fish them up; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks.

¹⁶Voici, j'envoie une multitude de pêcheurs, dit l'Eternel, et ils les pêcheront; Et après cela j'enverrai une multitude de chasseurs, et ils les chasseront De toutes les montagnes et de toutes les collines, Et des fentes des rochers.

¹⁶הנני שלח לדוגים רבים נאם יהוה ודיגום ואחרי כן אשלח לרבים צידים וצדום מעל כל הר ומעל כל גבעה ומנקיקי הסלעים׃

¹⁷For mine eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity concealed from mine eyes.

¹⁷Car mes yeux sont attentifs à toutes leurs voies, Elles ne sont point cachées devant ma face, Et leur iniquité ne se dérobe point à mes regards.

¹⁷כי עיני על כל דרכיהם לא נסתרו מלפני ולא נצפן עונם מנגד עיני׃

¹⁸And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled mine inheritance with their abominations.

¹⁸Je leur donnerai d'abord le double salaire de leur iniquité et de leur péché, Parce qu'ils ont profané mon pays, Parce qu'ils ont rempli mon héritage Des cadavres de leurs idoles et de leurs abominations.

¹⁸ושלמתי ראשונה משנה עונם וחטאתם על חללם את ארצי בנבלת שקוציהם ותועבותיהם מלאו את נחלתי׃

¹⁹O Jehovah, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, unto thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nought but lies, [even] vanity and things wherein there is no profit.

¹⁹Eternel, ma force et mon appui, mon refuge au jour de la détresse! Les nations viendront à toi des extrémités de la terre, Et elles diront: Nos pères n'ont hérité que le mensonge, De vaines idoles, qui ne servent à rien.

¹⁹יהוה עזי ומעזי ומנוסי ביום צרה אליך גוים יבאו מאפסי ארץ ויאמרו אך שקר נחלו אבותינו הבל ואין בם מועיל׃

²⁰Shall a man make unto himself gods, which yet are no gods?

²⁰L'homme peut-il se faire des dieux, Qui ne sont pas des dieux? -

²⁰היעשה לו אדם אלהים והמה לא אלהים׃

²¹Therefore, behold, I will cause them to know, this once will I cause them to know my hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Jehovah.

²¹C'est pourquoi voici, je leur fais connaître, cette fois, Je leur fais connaître ma puissance et ma force; Et ils sauront que mon nom est l'Eternel.

²¹לכן הנני מודיעם בפעם הזאת אודיעם את ידי ואת גבורתי וידעו כי שמי יהוה׃
