¹The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (the same was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon,)

¹La parole fut adressée à Jérémie sur tout le peuple de Juda, la quatrième année de Jojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, -c'était la première année de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, -

¹הדבר אשר היה על ירמיהו על כל עם יהודה בשנה הרבעית ליהויקים בן יאשיהו מלך יהודה היא השנה הראשנית לנבוכדראצר מלך בבל׃

²which Jeremiah the prophet spake unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

²parole que Jérémie prononça devant tout le peuple de Juda et devant tous les habitants de Jérusalem, en disant:

²אשר דבר ירמיהו הנביא על כל עם יהודה ואל כל ישבי ירושלם לאמר׃

³From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even unto this day, these three and twenty years, the word of Jehovah hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising up early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

³Depuis la treizième année de Josias, fils d'Amon, roi de Juda, il y a vingt-trois ans que la parole de l'Eternel m'a été adressée; je vous ai parlé, je vous ai parlé dès le matin, et vous n'avez pas écouté.

³מן שלש עשרה שנה ליאשיהו בן אמון מלך יהודה ועד היום הזה זה שלש ועשרים שנה היה דבר יהוה אלי ואדבר אליכם אשכים ודבר ולא שמעתם׃

⁴And Jehovah hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, (but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear,)

⁴L'Eternel vous a envoyé tous ses serviteurs, les prophètes, il les a envoyés dès le matin; et vous n'avez pas écouté, vous n'avez pas prêté l'oreille pour écouter.

⁴ושלח יהוה אליכם את כל עבדיו הנבאים השכם ושלח ולא שמעתם ולא הטיתם את אזנכם לשמע׃

⁵saying, Return ye now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that Jehovah hath given unto you and to your fathers, from of old and even for evermore;

⁵Ils ont dit: Revenez chacun de votre mauvaise voie et de la méchanceté de vos actions, et vous resterez dans le pays que j'ai donné à vous et à vos pères, d'éternité en éternité;

⁵לאמר שובו נא איש מדרכו הרעה ומרע מעלליכם ושבו על האדמה אשר נתן יהוה לכם ולאבותיכם למן עולם ועד עולם׃

⁶and go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the work of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

⁶n'allez pas après d'autres dieux, pour les servir et pour vous prosterner devant eux, ne m'irritez pas par l'ouvrage de vos mains, et je ne vous ferai aucun mal.

⁶ואל תלכו אחרי אלהים אחרים לעבדם ולהשתחות להם ולא תכעיסו אותי במעשה ידיכם ולא ארע לכם׃

⁷Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith Jehovah; that ye may provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own hurt.

⁷Mais vous ne m'avez pas écouté, dit l'Eternel, afin de m'irriter par l'ouvrage de vos mains, pour votre malheur.

⁷ולא שמעתם אלי נאם יהוה למען הכעסוני במעשה ידיכם לרע לכם׃

⁸Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Because ye have not heard my words,

⁸C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Parce que vous n'avez point écouté mes paroles,

⁸לכן כה אמר יהוה צבאות יען אשר לא שמעתם את דברי׃

⁹behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith Jehovah, and [I will send] unto Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

⁹j'enverrai chercher tous les peuples du septentrion, dit l'Eternel, et j'enverrai auprès de Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur; je le ferai venir contre ce pays et contre ses habitants, et contre toutes ces nations à l'entour, afin de les dévouer par interdit, et d'en faire un objet de désolation et de moquerie, des ruines éternelles.

⁹הנני שלח ולקחתי את כל משפחות צפון נאם יהוה ואל נבוכדראצר מלך בבל עבדי והבאתים על הארץ הזאת ועל ישביה ועל כל הגוים האלה סביב והחרמתים ושמתים לשמה ולשרקה ולחרבות עולם׃

¹⁰Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp.

¹⁰Je ferai cesser parmi eux les cris de réjouissance et les cris d'allégresse, les chants du fiancé et les chants de la fiancée, le bruit de la meule et la lumière de la lampe.

¹⁰והאבדתי מהם קול ששון וקול שמחה קול חתן וקול כלה קול רחים ואור נר׃

¹¹And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

¹¹Tout ce pays deviendra une ruine, un désert, et ces nations seront asservies au roi de Babylone pendant soixante-dix ans.

¹¹והיתה כל הארץ הזאת לחרבה לשמה ועבדו הגוים האלה את מלך בבל שבעים שנה׃

¹²And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith Jehovah, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it desolate for ever.

¹²Mais lorsque ces soixante-dix ans seront accomplis, je châtierai le roi de Babylone et cette nation, dit l'Eternel, à cause de leurs iniquités; je punirai le pays des Chaldéens, et j'en ferai des ruines éternelles.

¹²והיה כמלאות שבעים שנה אפקד על מלך בבל ועל הגוי ההוא נאם יהוה את עונם ועל ארץ כשדים ושמתי אתו לשממות עולם׃

¹³And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.

¹³Je ferai venir sur ce pays toutes les choses que j'ai annoncées sur lui, tout ce qui est écrit dans ce livre, ce que Jérémie a prophétisé sur toutes les nations.

¹³והבאיתי על הארץ ההיא את כל דברי אשר דברתי עליה את כל הכתוב בספר הזה אשר נבא ירמיהו על כל הגוים׃

¹⁴For many nations and great kings shall make bondmen of them, even of them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands.

¹⁴Car des nations puissantes et de grands rois les asserviront, eux aussi, et je leur rendrai selon leurs oeuvres et selon l'ouvrage de leurs mains.

¹⁴כי עבדו בם גם המה גוים רבים ומלכים גדולים ושלמתי להם כפעלם וכמעשה ידיהם׃

¹⁵For thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, unto me: take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.

¹⁵Car ainsi m'a parlé l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Prends de ma main cette coupe remplie du vin de ma colère, Et fais-la boire à toutes les nations Vers lesquelles je t'enverrai.

¹⁵כי כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל אלי קח את כוס היין החמה הזאת מידי והשקיתה אתו את כל הגוים אשר אנכי שלח אותך אליהם׃

¹⁶And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

¹⁶Ils boiront, et ils chancelleront et seront comme fous, A la vue du glaive que j'enverrai au milieu d'eux.

¹⁶ושתו והתגעשו והתהללו מפני החרב אשר אנכי שלח בינתם׃

¹⁷Then took I the cup at Jehovah's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom Jehovah had sent me:

¹⁷Et je pris la coupe de la main de l'Eternel, Et je la fis boire à toutes les nations Vers lesquelles l'Eternel m'envoyait:

¹⁷ואקח את הכוס מיד יהוה ואשקה את כל הגוים אשר שלחני יהוה אליהם׃

¹⁸[to wit], Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;

¹⁸A Jérusalem et aux villes de Juda, A ses rois et à ses chefs, Pour en faire une ruine, Un objet de désolation, de moquerie et de malédiction, Comme cela se voit aujourd'hui;

¹⁸את ירושלם ואת ערי יהודה ואת מלכיה את שריה לתת אתם לחרבה לשמה לשרקה ולקללה כיום הזה׃

¹⁹Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

¹⁹A Pharaon, roi d'Egypte, A ses serviteurs, à ses chefs, et à tout son peuple;

¹⁹את פרעה מלך מצרים ואת עבדיו ואת שריו ואת כל עמו׃

²⁰and all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of the Uz, and all the kings of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;

²⁰A toute l'Arabie, à tous les rois du pays d'Uts, A tous les rois du pays des Philistins, A Askalon, à Gaza, à Ekron, et à ce qui reste d'Asdod;

²⁰ואת כל הערב ואת כל מלכי ארץ העוץ ואת כל מלכי ארץ פלשתים ואת אשקלון ואת עזה ואת עקרון ואת שארית אשדוד׃

²¹Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon;

²¹A Edom, A Moab, et aux enfants d'Ammon;

²¹את אדום ואת מואב ואת בני עמון׃

²²and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea;

²²A tous les rois de Tyr, à tous les rois de Sidon, Et aux rois des îles qui sont au delà de la mer;

²²ואת כל מלכי צר ואת כל מלכי צידון ואת מלכי האי אשר בעבר הים׃

²³Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that have the corners [of their hair] cut off;

²³A Dedan, à Théma, à Buz, Et à tous ceux qui se rasent les coins de la barbe;

²³ואת דדן ואת תימא ואת בוז ואת כל קצוצי פאה׃

²⁴and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the wilderness;

²⁴A tous les rois d'Arabie, Et à tous les rois des Arabes qui habitent dans le désert;

²⁴ואת כל מלכי ערב ואת כל מלכי הערב השכנים במדבר׃

²⁵and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes;

²⁵A tous les rois de Zimri, A tous les rois d'Elam, Et à tous les rois de Médie;

²⁵ואת כל מלכי זמרי ואת כל מלכי עילם ואת כל מלכי מדי׃

²⁶and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

²⁶A tous les rois du septentrion, Proches ou éloignés, Aux uns et aux autres, Et à tous les royaumes du monde Qui sont sur la face de la terre. Et le roi de Schéschac boira après eux.

²⁶ואת כל מלכי הצפון הקרבים והרחקים איש אל אחיו ואת כל הממלכות הארץ אשר על פני האדמה ומלך ששך ישתה אחריהם׃

²⁷And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink ye, and be drunken, and spew, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

²⁷Tu leur diras: Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Buvez, enivrez-vous, et vomissez, Et tombez sans vous relever, A la vue du glaive que j'enverrai au milieu de vous!

²⁷ואמרת אליהם כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל שתו ושכרו וקיו ונפלו ולא תקומו מפני החרב אשר אנכי שלח ביניכם׃

²⁸And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ye shall surely drink.

²⁸Et s'ils refusent de prendre de ta main la coupe pour boire, Dis-leur: Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Vous boirez!

²⁸והיה כי ימאנו לקחת הכוס מידך לשתות ואמרת אליהם כה אמר יהוה צבאות שתו תשתו׃

²⁹For, lo, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith Jehovah of hosts.

²⁹Car voici, dans la ville sur laquelle mon nom est invoqué Je commence à faire du mal; Et vous, vous resteriez impunis! Vous ne resterez pas impunis; Car j'appellerai le glaive sur tous les habitants de la terre, Dit l'Eternel des armées.

²⁹כי הנה בעיר אשר נקרא שמי עליה אנכי מחל להרע ואתם הנקה תנקו לא תנקו כי חרב אני קרא על כל ישבי הארץ נאם יהוה צבאות׃

³⁰Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, Jehovah will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar against his fold; he will give a shout, as they that tread [the grapes], against all the inhabitants of the earth.

³⁰Et toi, tu leur prophétiseras toutes ces choses, Et tu leur diras: L'Eternel rugira d'en haut; De sa demeure sainte il fera retentir sa voix; Il rugira contre le lieu de sa résidence; Il poussera des cris, comme ceux qui foulent au pressoir, Contre tous les habitants de la terre.

³⁰ואתה תנבא אליהם את כל הדברים האלה ואמרת אליהם יהוה ממרום ישאג וממעון קדשו יתן קולו שאג ישאג על נוהו הידד כדרכים יענה אל כל ישבי הארץ׃

³¹A noise shall come even to the end of the earth; for Jehovah hath a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh: as for the wicked, he will give them to the sword, saith Jehovah.

³¹Le bruit parvient jusqu'à l'extrémité de la terre; Car l'Eternel est en dispute avec les nations, Il entre en jugement contre toute chair; Il livre les méchants au glaive, dit l'Eternel.

³¹בא שאון עד קצה הארץ כי ריב ליהוה בגוים נשפט הוא לכל בשר הרשעים נתנם לחרב נאם יהוה׃

³²Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great tempest shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

³²Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Voici, la calamité va de nation en nation, Et une grande tempête s'élève des extrémités de la terre.

³²כה אמר יהוה צבאות הנה רעה יצאת מגוי אל גוי וסער גדול יעור מירכתי ארץ׃

³³And the slain of Jehovah shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the face of the ground.

³³Ceux que tuera l'Eternel en ce jour seront étendus D'un bout à l'autre de la terre; Ils ne seront ni pleurés, ni recueillis, ni enterrés, Ils seront comme du fumier sur la terre.

³³והיו חללי יהוה ביום ההוא מקצה הארץ ועד קצה הארץ לא יספדו ולא יאספו ולא יקברו לדמן על פני האדמה יהיו׃

³⁴Wail, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow [in ashes], ye principal of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are fully come, and ye shall fall like a goodly vessel.

³⁴Gémissez, pasteurs, et criez! Roulez-vous dans la cendre, conducteurs de troupeaux! Car les jours sont venus où vous allez être égorgés. Je vous briserai, et vous tomberez comme un vase de prix.

³⁴הילילו הרעים וזעקו והתפלשו אדירי הצאן כי מלאו ימיכם לטבוח ותפוצותיכם ונפלתם ככלי חמדה׃

³⁵And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.

³⁵Plus de refuge pour les pasteurs! Plus de salut pour les conducteurs de troupeaux!

³⁵ואבד מנוס מן הרעים ופליטה מאדירי הצאן׃

³⁶A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the principal of the flock! for Jehovah layeth waste their pasture.

³⁶On entend les cris des pasteurs, Les gémissements des conducteurs de troupeaux; Car l'Eternel ravage leur pâturage.

³⁶קול צעקת הרעים ויללת אדירי הצאן כי שדד יהוה את מרעיתם׃

³⁷And the peaceable folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of Jehovah.

³⁷Les habitations paisibles sont détruites Par la colère ardente de l'Eternel.

³⁷ונדמו נאות השלום מפני חרון אף יהוה׃

³⁸He hath left his covert, as the lion; for their land is become an astonishment because of the fierceness of the oppressing [sword], and because of his fierce anger.

³⁸Il a abandonné sa demeure comme un lionceau sa tanière; Car leur pays est réduit en désert Par la fureur du destructeur Et par son ardente colère.

³⁸עזב ככפיר סכו כי היתה ארצם לשמה מפני חרון היונה ומפני חרון אפו׃
