¹Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

¹La parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Jérémie une seconde fois, en ces mots, pendant qu'il était encore enfermé dans la cour de la prison:

¹ויהי דבר יהוה אל ירמיהו שנית והוא עודנו עצור בחצר המטרה לאמר׃

²Thus saith Jehovah that doeth it, Jehovah that formeth it to establish it; Jehovah is his name:

²Ainsi parle l'Eternel, qui fait ces choses, L'Eternel, qui les conçoit et les exécute, Lui, dont le nom est l'Eternel:

²כה אמר יהוה עשה יהוה יוצר אותה להכינה יהוה שמו׃

³Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and will show thee great things, and difficult, which thou knowest not.

³Invoque-moi, et je te répondrai; Je t'annoncerai de grandes choses, des choses cachées, Que tu ne connais pas.

³קרא אלי ואענך ואגידה לך גדלות ובצרות לא ידעתם׃

⁴For thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down [to make a defence] against the mounds and against the sword;

⁴Car ainsi parle l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, Sur les maisons de cette ville Et sur les maisons des rois de Juda, Qui seront abattues par les terrasses et par l'épée,

⁴כי כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל על בתי העיר הזאת ועל בתי מלכי יהודה הנתצים אל הסללות ואל החרב׃

⁵while [men] come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my wrath, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city:

⁵Quand on s'avancera pour combattre les Chaldéens, Et qu'elles seront remplies des cadavres des hommes Que je frapperai dans ma colère et dans ma fureur, Et à cause de la méchanceté desquels je cacherai ma face à cette ville;

⁵באים להלחם את הכשדים ולמלאם את פגרי האדם אשר הכיתי באפי ובחמתי ואשר הסתרתי פני מהעיר הזאת על כל רעתם׃

⁶Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them; and I will reveal unto them abundance of peace and truth.

⁶Voici, je lui donnerai la guérison et la santé, je les guérirai, Et je leur ouvrirai une source abondante de paix et de fidélité.

⁶הנני מעלה לה ארכה ומרפא ורפאתים וגליתי להם עתרת שלום ואמת׃

⁷And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

⁷Je ramènerai les captifs de Juda et les captifs d'Israël, Et je les rétablirai comme autrefois.

⁷והשבתי את שבות יהודה ואת שבות ישראל ובנתים כבראשנה׃

⁸And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned against me, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

⁸Je les purifierai de toutes les iniquités qu'ils ont commises contre moi, Je leur pardonnerai toutes les iniquités par lesquelles ils m'ont offensé, Par lesquelles ils se sont révoltés contre moi.

⁸וטהרתים מכל עונם אשר חטאו לי וסלחתי לכול עונותיהם אשר חטאו לי ואשר פשעו בי׃

⁹And [this city] shall be to me for a name of joy, for a praise and for a glory, before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them, and shall fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I procure unto it.

⁹Cette ville sera pour moi un sujet de joie, de louange et de gloire, Parmi toutes les nations de la terre, Qui apprendront tout le bien que je leur ferai; Elles seront étonnées et émues de tout le bonheur Et de toute la prospérité que je leur accorderai.

⁹והיתה לי לשם ששון לתהלה ולתפארת לכל גויי הארץ אשר ישמעו את כל הטובה אשר אנכי עשה אתם ופחדו ורגזו על כל הטובה ועל כל השלום אשר אנכי עשה לה׃

¹⁰Thus saith Jehovah: Yet again there shall be heard in this place, whereof ye say, It is waste, without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,

¹⁰Ainsi parle l'Eternel: On entendra encore dans ce lieu Dont vous dites: Il est désert, il n'y a plus d'hommes, plus de bêtes; On entendra dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem, Dévastées, privées d'hommes, d'habitants, de bêtes,

¹⁰כה אמר יהוה עוד ישמע במקום הזה אשר אתם אמרים חרב הוא מאין אדם ומאין בהמה בערי יהודה ובחצות ירושלם הנשמות מאין אדם ומאין יושב ומאין בהמה׃

¹¹the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that say, Give thanks to Jehovah of hosts, for Jehovah is good, for his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever; [and of them] that bring [sacrifices of] thanksgiving into the house of Jehovah. For I will cause the captivity of the land to return as at the first, saith Jehovah.

¹¹Les cris de réjouissance et les cris d'allégresse, Les chants du fiancé et les chants de la fiancée, La voix de ceux qui disent: Louez l'Eternel des armées, Car l'Eternel est bon, car sa miséricorde dure à toujours! La voix de ceux qui offrent des sacrifices d'actions de grâces Dans la maison de l'Eternel. Car je ramènerai les captifs du pays, je les rétablirai comme autrefois, Dit l'Eternel.

¹¹קול ששון וקול שמחה קול חתן וקול כלה קול אמרים הודו את יהוה צבאות כי טוב יהוה כי לעולם חסדו מבאים תודה בית יהוה כי אשיב את שבות הארץ כבראשנה אמר יהוה׃

¹²Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet again shall there be in this place, which is waste, without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

¹²Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Il y aura encore dans ce lieu Qui est désert, sans hommes ni bêtes, Et dans toutes ses villes, Il y aura des demeures pour les bergers Faisant reposer leurs troupeaux.

¹²כה אמר יהוה צבאות עוד יהיה במקום הזה החרב מאין אדם ועד בהמה ובכל עריו נוה רעים מרבצים צאן׃

¹³In the cities of the hill-country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks again pass under the hands of him that numbereth them, saith Jehovah.

¹³Dans les villes de la montagne, dans les villes de la plaine, Dans les villes du midi, Dans le pays de Benjamin et aux environs de Jérusalem, Et dans les villes de Juda, Les brebis passeront encore sous la main de celui qui les compte, Dit l'Eternel.

¹³בערי ההר בערי השפלה ובערי הנגב ובארץ בנימן ובסביבי ירושלם ובערי יהודה עד תעברנה הצאן על ידי מונה אמר יהוה׃

¹⁴Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.

¹⁴Voici, les jours viennent, dit l'Eternel, Où j'accomplirai la bonne parole Que j'ai dite sur la maison d'Israël et sur la maison de Juda.

¹⁴הנה ימים באים נאם יהוה והקמתי את הדבר הטוב אשר דברתי אל בית ישראל ועל בית יהודה׃

¹⁵In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

¹⁵En ces jours et en ce temps-là, Je ferai éclore à David un germe de justice; Il pratiquera la justice et l'équité dans le pays.

¹⁵בימים ההם ובעת ההיא אצמיח לדוד צמח צדקה ועשה משפט וצדקה בארץ׃

¹⁶In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is [the name] whereby she shall be called: Jehovah our righteousness.

¹⁶En ces jours-là, Juda sera sauvé, Jérusalem aura la sécurité dans sa demeure; Et voici comment on l'appellera: L'Eternel notre justice.

¹⁶בימים ההם תושע יהודה וירושלם תשכון לבטח וזה אשר יקרא לה יהוה צדקנו׃

¹⁷For thus saith Jehovah: David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

¹⁷Car ainsi parle l'Eternel: David ne manquera jamais d'un successeur Assis sur le trône de la maison d'Israël;

¹⁷כי כה אמר יהוה לא יכרת לדוד איש ישב על כסא בית ישראל׃

¹⁸neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt-offerings, and to burn meal-offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

¹⁸Les sacrificateurs, les Lévites, ne manqueront jamais devant moi de successeurs Pour offrir des holocaustes, brûler de l'encens avec les offrandes, Et faire des sacrifices tous les jours.

¹⁸ולכהנים הלוים לא יכרת איש מלפני מעלה עולה ומקטיר מנחה ועשה זבח כל הימים׃

¹⁹And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁹La parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Jérémie, en ces mots:

¹⁹ויהי דבר יהוה אל ירמיהו לאמור׃

²⁰Thus saith Jehovah: If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, so that there shall not be day and night in their season;

²⁰Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Si vous pouvez rompre mon alliance avec le jour Et mon alliance avec la nuit, En sorte que le jour et la nuit ne soient plus en leur temps,

²⁰כה אמר יהוה אם תפרו את בריתי היום ואת בריתי הלילה ולבלתי היות יומם ולילה בעתם׃

²¹then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he shall not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

²¹Alors aussi mon alliance sera rompue avec David, mon serviteur, En sorte qu'il n'aura point de fils régnant sur son trône, Et mon alliance avec les Lévites, les sacrificateurs, qui font mon service.

²¹גם בריתי תפר את דוד עבדי מהיות לו בן מלך על כסאו ואת הלוים הכהנים משרתי׃

²²As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured; so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

²²De même qu'on ne peut compter l'armée des cieux, Ni mesurer le sable de la mer, De même je multiplierai la postérité de David, mon serviteur, Et les Lévites qui font mon service.

²²אשר לא יספר צבא השמים ולא ימד חול הים כן ארבה את זרע דוד עבדי ואת הלוים משרתי אתי׃

²³And the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah, saying,

²³La parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Jérémie, en ces mots:

²³ויהי דבר יהוה אל ירמיהו לאמר׃

²⁴Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which Jehovah did choose, he hath cast them off? thus do they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

²⁴N'as-tu pas remarqué ce que disent ces gens: Les deux familles que l'Eternel avait choisies, il les a rejetées? Ainsi ils méprisent mon peuple, Au point de ne plus le regarder comme une nation.

²⁴הלוא ראית מה העם הזה דברו לאמר שתי המשפחות אשר בחר יהוה בהם וימאסם ואת עמי ינאצון מהיות עוד גוי לפניהם׃

²⁵Thus saith Jehovah: If my covenant of day and night [stand] not, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

²⁵Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Si je n'ai pas fait mon alliance avec le jour et avec la nuit, Si je n'ai pas établi les lois des cieux et de la terre,

²⁵כה אמר יהוה אם לא בריתי יומם ולילה חקות שמים וארץ לא שמתי׃

²⁶then will I also cast away the seed of Jacob, and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and will have mercy on them.

²⁶Alors aussi je rejetterai la postérité de Jacob et de David, mon serviteur, Et je ne prendrai plus dans sa postérité ceux qui domineront Sur les descendants d'Abraham, d'Isaac et de Jacob. Car je ramènerai leurs captifs, et j'aurai pitié d'eux.

²⁶גם זרע יעקוב ודוד עבדי אמאס מקחת מזרעו משלים אל זרע אברהם ישחק ויעקב כי אשוב את שבותם ורחמתים׃
