¹And it came to pass that, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the people all the words of Jehovah their God, wherewith Jehovah their God had sent him to them, even all these words,

¹Lorsque Jérémie eut achevé de dire à tout le peuple toutes les paroles de l'Eternel, leur Dieu, toutes ces paroles que l'Eternel, leur Dieu, l'avait chargé de leur dire,

¹ויהי ככלות ירמיהו לדבר אל כל העם את כל דברי יהוה אלהיהם אשר שלחו יהוה אלהיהם אליהם את כל הדברים האלה׃

²then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: Jehovah our God hath not sent thee to say, Ye shall not go into Egypt to sojourn there;

²Azaria, fils d'Hosée, Jochanan, fils de Karéach, et tous ces hommes orgueilleux, dirent à Jérémie: Tu dis un mensonge: l'Eternel, notre Dieu, ne t'a point chargé de nous dire: N'allez pas en Egypte pour y demeurer.

²ויאמר עזריה בן הושעיה ויוחנן בן קרח וכל האנשים הזדים אמרים אל ירמיהו שקר אתה מדבר לא שלחך יהוה אלהינו לאמר לא תבאו מצרים לגור שם׃

³but Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they may put us to death, and carry us away captive to Babylon.

³Mais c'est Baruc, fils de Nérija, qui t'excite contre nous, afin de nous livrer entre les mains des Chaldéens, pour qu'ils nous fassent mourir ou nous emmènent captifs à Babylone.

³כי ברוך בן נריה מסית אתך בנו למען תת אתנו ביד הכשדים להמית אתנו ולהגלות אתנו בבל׃

⁴So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of Jehovah, to dwell in the land of Judah.

⁴Jochanan, fils de Karéach, tous les chefs des troupes, et tout le peuple, n'obéirent point à la voix de l'Eternel, qui leur ordonnait de rester dans le pays de Juda.

⁴ולא שמע יוחנן בן קרח וכל שרי החילים וכל העם בקול יהוה לשבת בארץ יהודה׃

⁵But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all the nations whither they had been driven, to sojourn in the land of Judah;

⁵Et Jochanan, fils de Karéach, et tous les chefs des troupes, prirent tous les restes de Juda, qui, après avoir été dispersés parmi toutes les nations, étaient revenus pour habiter le pays de Juda,

⁵ויקח יוחנן בן קרח וכל שרי החילים את כל שארית יהודה אשר שבו מכל הגוים אשר נדחו שם לגור בארץ יהודה׃

⁶the men, and the women, and the children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan; and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah;

⁶les hommes, les femmes, les enfants, les filles du roi, et toutes les personnes que Nebuzaradan, chef des gardes, avait laissées avec Guedalia, fils d'Achikam, fils de Schaphan, et aussi Jérémie, le prophète, et Baruc, fils de Nérija.

⁶את הגברים ואת הנשים ואת הטף ואת בנות המלך ואת כל הנפש אשר הניח נבוזראדן רב טבחים את גדליהו בן אחיקם בן שפן ואת ירמיהו הנביא ואת ברוך בן נריהו׃

⁷and they came into the land of Egypt; for they obeyed not the voice of Jehovah: and they came unto Tahpanhes.

⁷Ils allèrent au pays d'Egypte, car ils n'obéirent pas à la voix de l'Eternel, et ils arrivèrent à Tachpanès.

⁷ויבאו ארץ מצרים כי לא שמעו בקול יהוה ויבאו עד תחפנחס׃

⁸Then came the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,

⁸La parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Jérémie, à Tachpanès, en ces mots:

⁸ויהי דבר יהוה אל ירמיהו בתחפנחס לאמר׃

⁹Take great stones in thy hand, and hide them in mortar in the brickwork, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;

⁹Prends dans ta main de grandes pierres, et cache-les, en présence des Juifs, dans l'argile du four à briques qui est à l'entrée de la maison de Pharaon à Tachpanès.

⁹קח בידך אבנים גדלות וטמנתם במלט במלבן אשר בפתח בית פרעה בתחפנחס לעיני אנשים יהודים׃

¹⁰and say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.

¹⁰Et tu diras aux Juifs: Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Voici, j'enverrai chercher Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur, et je placerai son trône sur ces pierres que j'ai cachées, et il étendra son tapis sur elles.

¹⁰ואמרת אליהם כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל הנני שלח ולקחתי את נבוכדראצר מלך בבל עבדי ושמתי כסאו ממעל לאבנים האלה אשר טמנתי ונטה את שפרורו עליהם׃

¹¹And he shall come, and shall smite the land of Egypt; such as are for death [shall be given] to death, and such as are for captivity to captivity, and such as are for the sword to the sword.

¹¹Il viendra, et il frappera le pays d'Egypte; à la mort ceux qui sont pour la mort, à la captivité ceux qui sont pour la captivité, à l'épée ceux qui sont pour l'épée!

¹¹ובאה והכה את ארץ מצרים אשר למות למות ואשר לשבי לשבי ואשר לחרב לחרב׃

¹²And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captive: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.

¹²Je mettrai le feu aux maisons des dieux de l'Egypte; Nebucadnetsar les brûlera, il emmènera captives les idoles, il s'enveloppera du pays d'Egypte comme le berger s'enveloppe de son vêtement, et il sortira de là en paix.

¹²והצתי אש בבתי אלהי מצרים ושרפם ושבם ועטה את ארץ מצרים כאשר יעטה הרעה את בגדו ויצא משם בשלום׃

¹³He shall also break the pillars of Beth-shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of Egypt shall he burn with fire.

¹³Il brisera les statues de Beth-Schémesch au pays d'Egypte, et il brûlera par le feu les maisons des dieux de l'Egypte.

¹³ושבר את מצבות בית שמש אשר בארץ מצרים ואת בתי אלהי מצרים ישרף באש׃
