1And it came to pass, as he was praying in a certain place, that when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples.
1Jésus priait un jour en un certain lieu. Lorsqu'il eut achevé, un de ses disciples lui dit: Seigneur, enseigne-nous à prier, comme Jean l'a enseigné à ses disciples.
1ויהי הוא מתפלל במקום אחד ויאמר אליו אחד מתלמידיו אחרי כלותו אדני למדנו להתפלל כאשר למד גם יוחנן את תלמידיו׃
2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Father, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
2Il leur dit: Quand vous priez, dites: Père! Que ton nom soit sanctifié; que ton règne vienne.
2ויאמר אליהם כי תתפללו אמרו אבינו שבשמים יתקדש שמך תבוא מלכותך יעשה רצונך כמו בשמים כן בארץ׃
3Give us day by day our daily bread.
3Donne-nous chaque jour notre pain quotidien;
3את לחם חקנו תן לנו יום יום׃
4And forgive us our sins; for we ourselves also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And bring us not into temptation.
4pardonne-nous nos péchés, car nous aussi nous pardonnons à quiconque nous offense; et ne nous induis pas en tentation.
4וסלח לנו את חובתנו כי סלחים גם אנחנו לכל החיב לנו ואל תביאנו לידי נסיון כי אם הצילנו מן הרע׃
5And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
5Il leur dit encore: Si l'un de vous a un ami, et qu'il aille le trouver au milieu de la nuit pour lui dire: Ami, prête-moi trois pains,
5ויאמר אליהם מי בכם אשר יהיה לו אהב והלך ובא אליו בחצות הלילה ואמר אליו ידידי הלוני שלשת ככרות לחם׃
6for a friend of mine is come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him;
6car un de mes amis est arrivé de voyage chez moi, et je n'ai rien à lui offrir,
6כי אהבי בא אלי מן הדרך ואין לי דבר לשום לפניו׃
7and he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee?
7et si, de l'intérieur de sa maison, cet ami lui répond: Ne m'importune pas, la porte est déjà fermée, mes enfants et moi sommes au lit, je ne puis me lever pour te donner des pains, -
7והוא מלפנים יענה ויאמר אל תוגיעני כי כבר נסגרה הדלת וילדי שוכבים עמדי במטה לא אוכל לקום ולתת לך׃
8I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will arise and give him as many as he needeth.
8je vous le dis, même s'il ne se levait pas pour les lui donner parce que c'est son ami, il se lèverait à cause de son importunité et lui donnerait tout ce dont il a besoin.
8אני אמר לכם גם כי לא יקום לתת לו על היותו אהבו יקום בעבור עזות פניו ויתן לו ככל צרכו׃
9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
9Et moi, je vous dis: Demandez, et l'on vous donnera; cherchez, et vous trouverez; frappez, et l'on vous ouvrira.
9וגם אני אמר לכם שאלו וינתן לכם דרשו ותמצאו דפקו ויפתח לכם׃
10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
10Car quiconque demande reçoit, celui qui cherche trouve, et l'on ouvre à celui qui frappe.
10כי כל השאל יקבל והדרש ימצא ולדפק יפתח׃
11And of which of you that is a father shall his son ask a loaf, and he give him a stone? or a fish, and he for a fish give him a serpent?
11Quel est parmi vous le père qui donnera une pierre à son fils, s'il lui demande du pain? Ou, s'il demande un poisson, lui donnera-t-il un serpent au lieu d'un poisson?
11ומי בכם האב אשר ישאל ממנו בנו לחם ונתן לו אבן ואם דג היתן לו נחש תחת הדג׃
12Or [if] he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?
12Ou, s'il demande un oeuf, lui donnera-t-il un scorpion?
12או כי ישאלנו ביצה היתן לו עקרב׃
13If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
13Si donc, méchants comme vous l'êtes, vous savez donner de bonnes choses à vos enfants, à combien plus forte raison le Père céleste donnera-t-il le Saint-Esprit à ceux qui le lui demandent.
13הן אתם הרעים ידעים לתת מתנות טבות לבניכם אף כי האב מן השמים יתן את רוח הקדש לשאלים מאתו׃
14And he was casting out a demon [that was] dumb. And it came to pass, when the demon was gone out, the dumb man spake; and the multitudes marvelled.
14Jésus chassa un démon qui était muet. Lorsque le démon fut sorti, le muet parla, et la foule fut dans l'admiration.
14ויהי היום ויגרש שד והוא אלם ויהי אחרי צאת השד וידבר האלם ויתמהו העם׃
15But some of them said, By Beelzebub the prince of the demons casteth he out demons.
15Mais quelques-uns dirent: c'est par Béelzébul, le prince des démons, qu'il chasse les démons.
15ויש אשר אמרו בבעל זבוב שר השדים הוא מגרש את השדים׃
16And others, trying [him], sought of him a sign from heaven.
16Et d'autres, pour l'éprouver, lui demandèrent un signe venant du ciel.
16ויש אשר נסוהו וישאלו ממנו אות מן השמים׃
17But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house [divided] against a house falleth.
17Comme Jésus connaissait leurs pensées, il leur dit: Tout royaume divisé contre lui-même est dévasté, et une maison s'écroule sur une autre.
17והוא ידע את מחשבותם ויאמר אליהם כל ממלכה הנחלקה על עצמה תחרב ובית יפל על בית׃
18And if Satan also is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out demons by Beelzebub.
18Si donc Satan est divisé contre lui-même, comment son royaume subsistera-t-il, puisque vous dites que je chasse les démons par Béelzébul?
18וגם השטן אם נחלק על עצמו איככה תכון ממלכתו כי אמרתם שבבעל זבוב מגרש אני את השדים׃
19And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.
19Et si moi, je chasse les démons par Béelzébul, vos fils, par qui les chassent-ils? C'est pourquoi ils seront eux-mêmes vos juges.
19ואם אני מגרש את השדים בבעל זבוב בניכם במי הם מגרשים אתם על כן המה יהיו שפטיכם׃
20But if I by the finger of God cast out demons, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.
20Mais, si c'est par le doigt de Dieu que je chasse les démons, le royaume de Dieu est donc venu vers vous.
20ואם באצבע אלהים מגרש אני את השדים הנה הגיעה אליכם מלכות האלהים׃
21When the strong [man] fully armed guardeth his own court, his goods are in peace:
21Lorsqu'un homme fort et bien armé garde sa maison, ce qu'il possède est en sûreté.
21בהיות הגבור שמר את חצרו והוא מזין והיה רכושו שלום׃
22but when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him his whole armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
22Mais, si un plus fort que lui survient et le dompte, il lui enlève toutes les armes dans lesquelles il se confiait, et il distribue ses dépouilles.
22ואם יבוא עליו חזק ממנו ותקפו ישא ממנו את נשקו אשר בטח בו ואת מלקחו יחלק׃
23He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
23Celui qui n'est pas avec moi est contre moi, et celui qui n'assemble pas avec moi disperse.
23כל אשר איננו אתי הוא לנגדי ואשר איננו מאסף אתי הוא מפזר׃
24The unclean spirit when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and finding none, he saith, I will turn back unto my house whence I came out.
24Lorsque l'esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il va dans des lieux arides, pour chercher du repos. N'en trouvant point, il dit: Je retournerai dans ma maison d'où je suis sorti;
24הרוח הטמאה אחרי צאתה מן האדם תשוטט במקמות ציה לבקש לה מנוחה ולא תמצא אז תאמר אשובה נא אל ביתי אשר יצאתי משם׃
25And when he is come, he findeth it swept and garnished.
25et, quand il arrive, il la trouve balayée et ornée.
25ובבואה תמצא אתו מטאטא ומהדר׃
26Then goeth he, and taketh [to him] seven other spirits more evil than himself; and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man becometh worse than the first.
26Alors il s'en va, et il prend sept autres esprits plus méchants que lui; ils entrent dans la maison, s'y établissent, et la dernière condition de cet homme est pire que la première.
26ואחר תלך ולקחה שבע רוחות אחרות רעות ממנה ובאו ושכנו שם והיתה אחרית האדם ההוא רעה מראשיתו׃
27And it came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck.
27Tandis que Jésus parlait ainsi, une femme, élevant la voix du milieu de la foule, lui dit: Heureux le sein qui t'a porté! heureuses les mamelles qui t'ont allaité!
27ויהי כדברו את הדברים האלה ואשה אחת מן העם נשאה את קולה ותאמר אליו אשרי הבטן אשר נשאתך והשדים אשר ינקת׃
28But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
28Et il répondit: Heureux plutôt ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu, et qui la gardent!
28והוא אמר ואף כי אשרי השמעים והשמרים את דבר האלהים׃
29And when the multitudes were gathering together unto him, he began to say, This generation is an evil generation: it seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah.
29Comme le peuple s'amassait en foule, il se mit à dire: Cette génération est une génération méchante; elle demande un miracle; il ne lui sera donné d'autre miracle que celui de Jonas.
29ויקבצו עם רב ויחל לדבר הדור הזה דור רע הוא אות הוא מבקש ואות לא ינתן לו בלתי אם אות יונה הנביא׃
30For even as Jonah became a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
30Car, de même que Jonas fut un signe pour les Ninivites, de même le Fils de l'homme en sera un pour cette génération.
30כי כאשר היה יונה לאנשי נינוה לאות כן יהיה גם בן האדם לדור הזה׃
31The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
31La reine du Midi se lèvera, au jour du jugement, avec les hommes de cette génération et les condamnera, parce qu'elle vint des extrémités de la terre pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon; et voici, il y a ici plus que Salomon.
31מלכת תימן תקום במשפט עם אנשי הדור הזה והרשיעה אותם כי באה מקצות הארץ לשמע את חכמת שלמה והנה יש פה גדול משלמה׃
32The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.
32Les hommes de Ninive se lèveront, au jour du jugement, avec cette génération et la condamneront, parce qu'ils se repentirent à la prédication de Jonas; et voici, il y a ici plus que Jonas.
32אנשי נינוה יקומו במשפט עם הדור הזה והרשיעהו כי הם שבו בקריאת יונה והנה יש פה גדול מיונה׃
33No man, when he hath lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, neither under the bushel, but on the stand, that they which enter in may see the light.
33Personne n'allume une lampe pour la mettre dans un lieu caché ou sous le boisseau, mais on la met sur le chandelier, afin que ceux qui entrent voient la lumière.
33אין מדליק נר אשר ישימהו בסתר או תחת האיפה כי אם על המנורה למען יראו באי הבית את אורו׃
34The lamp of thy body is thine eye: when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when it is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
34Ton oeil est la lampe de ton corps. Lorsque ton oeil est en bon état, tout ton corps est éclairé; mais lorsque ton oeil est en mauvais état, ton corps est dans les ténèbres.
34נר הגוף הוא העין לכן בהיות עינך תמימה גם כל גופך יאור ובהיותה רעה וחשך גם גופך׃
35Look therefore whether the light that is in thee be not darkness.
35Prends donc garde que la lumière qui est en toi ne soit ténèbres.
35על כן השמר לך פן יחשך האור אשר בקרבך׃
36If therefore thy whole body be full of light, having no part dark, it shall be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining doth give thee light.
36Si donc tout ton corps est éclairé, n'ayant aucune partie dans les ténèbres, il sera entièrement éclairé, comme lorsque la lampe t'éclaire de sa lumière.
36והנה אם גופך כלו אור ואין בו כל דבר חשך אז יאור כלו והיה כהאיר לך הנר בברק נגהו׃
37Now as he spake, a Pharisee asketh him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.
37Pendant que Jésus parlait, un pharisien le pria de dîner chez lui. Il entra, et se mit à table.
37ויהי בדברו ויבקש ממנו פרוש אחד לאכל אתו לחם ויבא הביתה ויסב׃
38And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first bathed himself before dinner.
38Le pharisien vit avec étonnement qu'il ne s'était pas lavé avant le repas.
38ויתמה הפרוש בראתו אשר לא נטל ידיו בראשונה לפני הסעודה׃
39And the Lord said unto him, Now ye the Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter; but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.
39Mais le Seigneur lui dit: Vous, pharisiens, vous nettoyez le dehors de la coupe et du plat, et à l'intérieur vous êtes pleins de rapine et de méchanceté.
39ויאמר אליו האדון כעת אתם הפרושים מטהרים את הכום והקערה מחוץ והפנימי אשר בכם הוא מלא גזל ורשע׃
40Ye foolish ones, did not he that made the outside make the inside also?
40Insensés! celui qui a fait le dehors n'a-t-il pas fait aussi le dedans?
40הכסילים הלא עשה החיצון גם עשה את הפנימי׃
41But give for alms those things which are within; and behold, all things are clean unto you.
41Donnez plutôt en aumônes ce qui est dedans, et voici, toutes choses seront pures pour vous.
41אבל תנו לצדקה את אשר בם והנה הכל טהור לכם׃
42But woe unto you Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and every herb, and pass over justice and the love of God: but these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
42Mais malheur à vous, pharisiens! parce que vous payez la dîme de la menthe, de la rue, et de toutes les herbes, et que vous négligez la justice et l'amour de Dieu: c'est là ce qu'il fallait pratiquer, sans omettre les autres choses.
42אך אוי לכם הפרושים כי תעשרו את המנתא ואת הפיגם ואת כל הירק ותעברו את המשפט ואת אהבת אלהים והיה לכם לעשות את אלה ולא להניח גם את אלה׃
43Woe unto you Pharisees! for ye love the chief seats in the synagogues, and the salutations in the marketplaces.
43Malheur à vous, pharisiens! parce que vous aimez les premiers sièges dans les synagogues, et les salutations dans les places publiques.
43אוי לכם הפרושים כי תאהבו את מושב הראש בבתי הכנסיות ואת שאלות שלומכם בשוקים׃
44Woe unto you! for ye are as the tombs which appear not, and the men that walk over [them] know it not.
44Malheur à vous! parce que vous êtes comme les sépulcres qui ne paraissent pas, et sur lesquels on marche sans le savoir.
44אוי לכם הסופרים והפרושים החנפים כי אתם כקברים הנסתרים ובני האדם מתהלכים עליהם ולא ידעו׃
45And one of the lawyers answering saith unto him, Teacher, in saying this thou reproachest us also.
45Un des docteurs de la loi prit la parole, et lui dit: Maître, en parlant de la sorte, c'est aussi nous que tu outrages.
45ויען אחד מבעלי התורה ויאמר אליו רבי בדבריך אלה תחרף גם אתנו׃
46And he said, Woe unto you lawyers also! for ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
46Et Jésus répondit: Malheur à vous aussi, docteurs de la loi! parce que vous chargez les hommes de fardeaux difficiles à porter, et que vous ne touchez pas vous-mêmes de l'un de vos doigts.
46ויאמר אוי גם לכם בעלי התורה כי עמסים אתם על בני האדם משאות כבדים מסבל ואתם בעצמכם אינכם נגעים במשאות גם באחת מאצבעותיכם׃
47Woe unto you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
47Malheur à vous! parce que vous bâtissez les tombeaux des prophètes, que vos pères ont tués.
47אוי לכם כי בונים אתם את קברות הנביאים ואבותיכם הרגו אותם׃
48So ye are witnesses and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build [their tombs].
48Vous rendez donc témoignage aux oeuvres de vos pères, et vous les approuvez; car eux, ils ont tué les prophètes, et vous, vous bâtissez leurs tombeaux.
48וכן אתם מעידים ורוצים במעשי אבותיכם כי המה הרגו אותם ואתם בונים את קבריהם׃
49Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and [some] of them they shall kill and persecute;
49C'est pourquoi la sagesse de Dieu a dit: Je leur enverrai des prophètes et des apôtres; ils tueront les uns et persécuteront les autres,
49בעבור זאת גם אמרה חכמת האלהים אשלח אליהם נביאים ושליחים ומהם יהרגו וירדפו׃
50that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
50afin qu'il soit demandé compte à cette génération du sang de tous les prophètes qui a été répandu depuis la création du monde,
50למען ידרש מן הדור הזה דם כל הנביאים אשר נשפך למן הוסד הארץ׃
51from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary: yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation.
51depuis le sang d'Abel jusqu'au sang de Zacharie, tué entre l'autel et le temple; oui, je vous le dis, il en sera demandé compte à cette génération.
51מדם הבל עד דם זכריהו אשר נהרג בין המזבח ולבית הן אמר אני לכם דרוש ידרש מן הדור הזה׃
52Woe unto you lawyers! for ye took away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
52Malheur à vous, docteurs de la loi! parce que vous avez enlevé la clef de la science; vous n'êtes pas entrés vous-mêmes, et vous avez empêché d'entrer ceux qui le voulaient.
52אוי לכם בעלי התורה כי הסירתם את מפתח הדעת אתם לא באתם ואת הבאים מנעתם׃
53And when he was come out from thence, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press upon [him] vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things;
53Quand il fut sorti de là, les scribes et les pharisiens commencèrent à le presser violemment, et à le faire parler sur beaucoup de choses,
53ויהי כדברו להם את אלה ויחלו הסופרים והפרושים לשטם אותו מאד ולהקשות לו בדברים רבים׃
54laying wait for him, to catch something out of his mouth.
54lui tendant des pièges, pour surprendre quelque parole sortie de sa bouche.
54ויארבו לו ויבקשו לצודד דבר מפיהו למען ימצאו עליו שטנה׃
