¹Now all the publicans and sinners were drawing near unto him to hear him.

¹Tous les publicains et les gens de mauvaise vie s'approchaient de Jésus pour l'entendre.

¹ויהי בקרב אליו כל המוכסים והחטאים לשמע אותו׃

²And both the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

²Et les pharisiens et les scribes murmuraient, disant: Cet homme accueille des gens de mauvaise vie, et mange avec eux.

²וילונו הפרושים והסופרים לאמר הנה זה מקבל את החטאים ואכל אתם׃

³And he spake unto them this parable, saying,

³Mais il leur dit cette parabole:

³וידבר אליהם את המשל הזה לאמר׃

⁴What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

⁴Quel homme d'entre vous, s'il a cent brebis, et qu'il en perde une, ne laisse les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres dans le désert pour aller après celle qui est perdue, jusqu'à ce qu'il la retrouve?

⁴מי זה האיש מכם אשר לו מאה כבשים ואבד לו אחד מהם ולא יטוש את התשעים ותשעה במדבר והלך אחרי האבד עד כי ימצאהו׃

⁵And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

⁵Lorsqu'il l'a retrouvée, il la met avec joie sur ses épaules,

⁵והיה כמצאו אתו ישימנו על כתפיו בשמחה׃

⁶And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and his neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.

⁶et, de retour à la maison, il appelle ses amis et ses voisins, et leur dit: Réjouissez-vous avec moi, car j'ai retrouvé ma brebis qui était perdue.

⁶ובא אל ביתו וקרא לאהביו ולשכניו יחד לאמר שמחו אתי כי מצאתי את שיי האבד׃

⁷I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, [more] than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.

⁷De même, je vous le dis, il y aura plus de joie dans le ciel pour un seul pécheur qui se repent, que pour quatre-vingt-dix-neuf justes qui n'ont pas besoin de repentance.

⁷אני אמר לכם כי כן תהיה שמחה בשמים על חוטא אחד השב יותר מעל תשעים ותשעה צדיקים אשר לא יצטרכו לתשובה׃

⁸Or what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she find it?

⁸Ou quelle femme, si elle a dix drachmes, et qu'elle en perde une, n'allume une lampe, ne balaie la maison, et ne cherche avec soin, jusqu'à ce qu'elle la retrouve?

⁸או מי האשה אשר לה עשרה דרכמונים ואבד לה דרכמון אחד ולא תדליק נר ותטאטא את הבית ותחפש היטב עד כי תמצאהו׃

⁹And when she hath found it, she calleth together her friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost.

⁹Lorsqu'elle l'a retrouvée, elle appelle ses amies et ses voisines, et dit: Réjouissez-vous avec moi, car j'ai retrouvé la drachme que j'avais perdue.

⁹והיה כמצאה אותו תקרא לרעותיה ולשכנותיה לאמר שמחנה אתי כי מצאתי את הדרכמון אשר אבד לי׃

¹⁰Even so, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

¹⁰De même, je vous le dis, il y a de la joie devant les anges de Dieu pour un seul pécheur qui se repent.

¹⁰כן אני אמר לכם תהיה שמחה לנפי מלאכי אלהים על חוטא אחד אשר שב מחטאו׃

¹¹And he said, A certain man had two sons:

¹¹Il dit encore: Un homme avait deux fils.

¹¹ויאמר איש אחד היו לו שני בנים׃

¹²and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of [thy] substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

¹²Le plus jeune dit à son père: Mon père, donne-moi la part de bien qui doit me revenir. Et le père leur partagea son bien.

¹²ויאמר הצעיר אל אביו אבי תנה לי את חלק הרכוש אשר יפל לי ויחלק להם את הנחלה׃

¹³And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country; and there he wasted his substance with riotous living.

¹³Peu de jours après, le plus jeune fils, ayant tout ramassé, partit pour un pays éloigné, où il dissipa son bien en vivant dans la débauche.

¹³ויהי מקץ ימים ויאסף הבן הצעיר את הכל וילך אל ארץ רחוקה ושם פזר את רכשו וילך בדרך סובאים וזוללים׃

¹⁴And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that country; and he began to be in want.

¹⁴Lorsqu'il eut tout dépensé, une grande famine survint dans ce pays, et il commença à se trouver dans le besoin.

¹⁴ואחרי כלותו את הכל היה רעב חזק בארץ ההיא ויחל להיות חסר לחם׃

¹⁵And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

¹⁵Il alla se mettre au service d'un des habitants du pays, qui l'envoya dans ses champs garder les pourceaux.

¹⁵וילך וידבק באחד מבני המדינה בארץ ההיא וישלח אותו אל שדותיו לרעות חזירים׃

¹⁶And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

¹⁶Il aurait bien voulu se rassasier des carouges que mangeaient les pourceaux, mais personne ne lui en donnait.

¹⁶ויתאו למלא את בטנו בחרובים אשר יאכלו החזירים ואין נתן לו׃

¹⁷But when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger!

¹⁷Etant rentré en lui-même, il se dit: Combien de mercenaires chez mon père ont du pain en abondance, et moi, ici, je meurs de faim!

¹⁷וישב אל לבו ויאמר מה רבו שכירי אבי ויש להם לחם לשבע ואני אבד ברעב׃

¹⁸I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight:

¹⁸Je me lèverai, j'irai vers mon père, et je lui dirai: Mon père, j'ai péché contre le ciel et contre toi,

¹⁸אקומה נא ואלכה אל אבי ואמר אליו אבי חטאתי לשמים ולפניך׃

¹⁹I am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

¹⁹je ne suis plus digne d'être appelé ton fils; traite-moi comme l'un de tes mercenaires.

¹⁹ונקלתי מהקרא עוד בנך שימני כאשר שכיריך׃

²⁰And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

²⁰Et il se leva, et alla vers son père. Comme il était encore loin, son père le vit et fut ému de compassion, il courut se jeter à son cou et le baisa.

²⁰ויקם ויבא אל אביו עודנו מרחוק ואביו ראהו ויהמו מעיו וירץ ויפל על צואריו וישקהו׃

²¹And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: I am no more worthy to be called thy son.

²¹Le fils lui dit: Mon père, j'ai péché contre le ciel et contre toi, je ne suis plus digne d'être appelé ton fils.

²¹ויאמר אליו הבן אבי חטאתי לשמים ולפניך ואני נקלתי מהקרא עוד בנך׃

²²But the father said to his servants, Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

²²Mais le père dit à ses serviteurs: Apportez vite la plus belle robe, et l'en revêtez; mettez-lui un anneau au doigt, et des souliers aux pieds.

²²ויאמר האב אל עבדיו הוציאו את השמלה הטובה מכלן והלבישהו ותנו טבעת על ידו ונעלים ברגליו׃

²³and bring the fatted calf, [and] kill it, and let us eat, and make merry:

²³Amenez le veau gras, et tuez-le. Mangeons et réjouissons-nous;

²³והביאו את עגל המרבק וטבחו אתו ונאכלה ונשמח׃

²⁴for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

²⁴car mon fils que voici était mort, et il est revenu à la vie; il était perdu, et il est retrouvé. Et ils commencèrent à se réjouir.

²⁴כי זה בני היה מת ויחי ואובד היה וימצא ויחלו לשמח׃

²⁵Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

²⁵Or, le fils aîné était dans les champs. Lorsqu'il revint et approcha de la maison, il entendit la musique et les danses.

²⁵ובנו הגדול היה בשדה ויהי כאשר בא ויקרב אל הבית וישמע קול זמרה ומחלות׃

²⁶And he called to him one of the servants, and inquired what these things might be.

²⁶Il appela un des serviteurs, et lui demanda ce que c'était.

²⁶ויקרא אל אחד הנערים וישאל מה זאת׃

²⁷And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

²⁷Ce serviteur lui dit: Ton frère est de retour, et, parce qu'il l'a retrouvé en bonne santé, ton père a tué le veau gras.

²⁷ויאמר אליו כי בא אחיך ויטבח אביך את עגל המרבק על אשר הושב לו שלם׃

²⁸But he was angry, and would not go in: and his father came out, and entreated him.

²⁸Il se mit en colère, et ne voulut pas entrer. Son père sortit, et le pria d'entrer.

²⁸ויחר לו ולא אבה לבוא הביתה ויצא אביו וידבר על לבו׃

²⁹But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and [yet] thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

²⁹Mais il répondit à son père: Voici, il y a tant d'années que je te sers, sans avoir jamais transgressé tes ordres, et jamais tu ne m'as donné un chevreau pour que je me réjouisse avec mes amis.

²⁹ויען ויאמר אל אביו הנה זה שנים רבות אני עבד אתך ומימי לא עברתי את מצותך ומימי לא נתת לי גדי למען אשיש עם רעי׃

³⁰but when this thy son came, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.

³⁰Et quand ton fils est arrivé, celui qui a mangé ton bien avec des prostituées, c'est pour lui que tu as tué le veau gras!

³⁰ויבא בנך זה אשר בלע את נחלתך עם הזנות ותזבח לו את עגל המרבק׃

³¹And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine.

³¹Mon enfant, lui dit le père, tu es toujours avec moi, et tout ce que j'ai est à toi;

³¹ויאמר אליו בני אתה תמיד עמדי וכל אשר לי לך הוא׃

³²But it was meet to make merry and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive [again]; and [was] lost, and is found.

³²mais il fallait bien s'égayer et se réjouir, parce que ton frère que voici était mort et qu'il est revenu à la vie, parce qu'il était perdu et qu'il est retrouvé.

³²אבל נכון לשוש ולשמח כי אחיך זה היה מת ויחי ואבד היה וימצא׃
