1And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There are some here of them that stand [by], who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God come with power.
1Il leur dit encore: Je vous le dis en vérité, quelques-uns de ceux qui sont ici ne mourront point, qu'ils n'aient vu le royaume de Dieu venir avec puissance.
1ויאמר אליהם אמן אמר אני לכם כי יש מן העמדים פה אשר לא יטעמו מות עד כי יראו מלכות האלהים באה בגבורה׃
2And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them;
2Six jours après, Jésus prit avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et il les conduisit seuls à l'écart sur une haute montagne. Il fut transfiguré devant eux;
2ואחרי ששת ימים לקח ישוע את פטרוס ואת יעקב ואת יוחנן ויעלם על הר גבה אתו לבדם וישתנה לעיניהם׃
3and his garments became glistering, exceeding white, so as no fuller on earth can whiten them.
3ses vêtements devinrent resplendissants, et d'une telle blancheur qu'il n'est pas de foulon sur la terre qui puisse blanchir ainsi.
3ובגדיו נהיו מזהירים לבנים מאד כשלג אשר לא יוכל כובס בארץ להלבין כמוהם׃
4And there appeared unto them Elijah with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
4Elie et Moïse leur apparurent, s'entretenant avec Jésus.
4וירא אליהם אליהו ומשה מדברים עם ישוע׃
5And Peter answereth and saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
5Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus: Rabbi, il est bon que nous soyons ici; dressons trois tentes, une pour toi, une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie.
5ויען פטרוס ויאמר אל ישוע רבי טוב היותנו פה נעשה נא שלש סכות לך אחת ולמשה אחת ולאליהו אחת׃
6For he knew not what to answer; for they became sore afraid.
6Car il ne savait que dire, l'effroi les ayant saisis.
6כי לא ידע מה ידבר כי היו נבהלים׃
7And there came a cloud overshadowing them: and there came a voice out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son: hear ye him.
7Une nuée vint les couvrir, et de la nuée sortit une voix: Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé: écoutez-le!
7ויהי ענן סוכך עליהם ויצא מן הענן קול אמר זה בני ידידי אליו שמעו׃
8And suddenly looking round about, they saw no one any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
8Aussitôt les disciples regardèrent tout autour, et ils ne virent que Jésus seul avec eux.
8והמה הביטו כה וכה פתאם ולא ראו עוד איש בלתי את ישוע לבדו אתם׃
9And as they were coming down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, save when the Son of man should have risen again from the dead.
9Comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur recommanda de ne dire à personne ce qu'ils avaient vu, jusqu'à ce que le Fils de l'homme fût ressuscité des morts.
9וירדו מן ההר ויזהירם לבלתי הגיד לאיש את אשר ראו עד כי יקום בן האדם מן המתים׃
10And they kept the saying, questioning among themselves what the rising again from the dead should mean.
10Ils retinrent cette parole, se demandant entre eux ce que c'est que ressusciter des morts.
10וישמרו את הדבר בלבבם וידרשו לדעת מה היא התקומה מן המתים׃
11And they asked him, saying, [How is it] that the scribes say that Elijah must first come?
11Les disciples lui firent cette question: Pourquoi les scribes disent-ils qu'il faut qu'Elie vienne premièrement?
11וישאלהו לאמר מה זה אמרים הסופרים כי אליהו בוא יבוא בראשונה׃
12And he said unto them, Elijah indeed cometh first, and restoreth all things: and how is it written of the Son of man, that he should suffer many things and be set at nought?
12Il leur répondit: Elie viendra premièrement, et rétablira toutes choses. Et pourquoi est-il écrit du Fils de l'homme qu'il doit souffrir beaucoup et être méprisé?
12ויען ויאמר להם הנה אליהו בא בראשונה וישיב את הכל ומה כתוב על בן האדם הלא כי יענה הרבה וימאס׃
13But I say unto you, that Elijah is come, and they have also done unto him whatsoever they would, even as it is written of him.
13Mais je vous dis qu'Elie est venu, et qu'ils l'ont traité comme ils ont voulu, selon qu'il est écrit de lui.
13אבל אמר אני לכם גם בא אליהו וגם עשו לו כרצונם כאשר כתוב עליו׃
14And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great multitude about them, and scribes questioning with them.
14Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés près des disciples, ils virent autour d'eux une grande foule, et des scribes qui discutaient avec eux.
14ויהי כבואו אל התלמידים וירא עם רב סביבותם וסופרים מתוכחים אתם׃
15And straightway all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
15Dès que la foule vit Jésus, elle fut surprise, et accourut pour le saluer.
15וכל העם כראותם אתו כן תמהו וירוצי אליו וישאלו לו לשלום׃
16And he asked them, What question ye with them?
16Il leur demanda: Sur quoi discutez-vous avec eux?
16וישאל את הסופרים מה אתם מתוכחים עמהם׃
17And one of the multitude answered him, Teacher, I brought unto thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit;
17Et un homme de la foule lui répondit: Maître, j'ai amené auprès de toi mon fils, qui est possédé d'un esprit muet.
17ויען אחד מן העם ויאמר רבי הבאתי אליך את בני אשר רוח אלם בקרבו׃
18and wheresoever it taketh him, it dasheth him down: and he foameth, and grindeth his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast it out; and they were not able.
18En quelque lieu qu'il le saisisse, il le jette par terre; l'enfant écume, grince des dents, et devient tout raide. J'ai prié tes disciples de chasser l'esprit, et ils n'ont pas pu.
18והיה בכל מקום אשר יאחזהו הוא מרצץ אתו וירד רירו וחרק את שניו ויבש גופו ואמר אל תלמידיך לגרשו ולא יכלו׃
19And he answereth them and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him unto me.
19Race incrédule, leur dit Jésus, jusques à quand serai-je avec vous? jusques à quand vous supporterai-je? Amenez-le-moi.
19ויען ויאמר להם הוי דור בלתי מאמין עד מתי אהיה עמכם עד מתי אסבל אתכם הביאו אתו לפני׃
20And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him grievously; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
20On le lui amena. Et aussitôt que l'enfant vit Jésus, l'esprit l'agita avec violence; il tomba par terre, et se roulait en écumant.
20ויביאהו לפניו ויהי כאשר ראהו הרוח וירוצצנו פתאם ויפל ארצה ויתגולל ויורד רירו׃
21And he asked his father, How long time is it since this hath come unto him? And he said, From a child.
21Jésus demanda au père: Combien y a-t-il de temps que cela lui arrive? Depuis son enfance, répondit-il.
21וישאל את אביו כמה ימים היתה לו זאת ויאמר מימי נעוריו׃
22And oft-times it hath cast him both into the fire and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.
22Et souvent l'esprit l'a jeté dans le feu et dans l'eau pour le faire périr. Mais, si tu peux quelque chose, viens à notre secours, aie compassion de nous.
22ופעמים רבות הפיל אתו גם באש גם במים להאבידו אך אם יכל תוכל רחם עלינו ועזרנו׃
23And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth.
23Jésus lui dit: Si tu peux!... Tout est possible à celui qui croit.
23ויאמר אליו ישוע לאמר אם תוכל להאמין כל יוכל המאמין׃
24Straightway the father of the child cried out, and said, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
24Aussitôt le père de l'enfant s'écria: Je crois! viens au secours de mon incrédulité!
24ויתן אבי הילד את קלו בבכי ויאמר אני מאמין עזר נא לחסרון אמונתי׃
25And when Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
25Jésus, voyant accourir la foule, menaça l'esprit impur, et lui dit: Esprit muet et sourd, je te l'ordonne, sors de cet enfant, et n'y rentre plus.
25וירא ישוע את העם מתקבץ אליו ויגער ברוח הטמא לאמר רוח אלם וחרש אני מצוך צא ממנו ואל תסף לבוא בו עוד׃
26And having cried out, and torn him much, he came out: and [the boy] became as one dead; insomuch that the more part said, He is dead.
26Et il sortit, en poussant des cris, et en l'agitant avec une grande violence. L'enfant devint comme mort, de sorte que plusieurs disaient qu'il était mort.
26ויצעק וירצץ אתו מאד ויצא ויהי כמת עד אשר אמרו רבים כי גוע׃
27But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.
27Mais Jésus, l'ayant pris par la main, le fit lever. Et il se tint debout.
27ויחזק ישוע בידו ויניעהו ויקם׃
28And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, [How is it] that we could not cast it out?
28Quand Jésus fut entré dans la maison, ses disciples lui demandèrent en particulier: Pourquoi n'avons-nous pu chasser cet esprit?
28ויהי כאשר בא הביתה וישאלהו תלמידיו בהיותם לבדם אתו מדוע אנחנו לא יכלנו לגרשו׃
29And he said unto them, This kind can come out by nothing, save by prayer.
29Il leur dit: Cette espèce-là ne peut sortir que par la prière.
29ויאמר אליהם המין הזה יצא לא יצא כי אם בתפלה ובצום׃
30And they went forth from thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
30Ils partirent de là, et traversèrent la Galilée. Jésus ne voulait pas qu'on le sût.
30ויצאו משם ויעברו בגליל ולא אבה להודע לאיש׃
31For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered up into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and when he is killed, after three days he shall rise again.
31Car il enseignait ses disciples, et il leur dit: Le Fils de l'homme sera livré entre les mains des hommes; ils le feront mourir, et, trois jours après qu'il aura été mis à mort, il ressuscitera.
31כי היה מלמד את תלמידיו לאמר אליהם כי עתיד בן האדם להמסר בידי בני אדם ויהרגהו ואחרי אשר נהרג יקום ביום השלישי׃
32But they understood not the saying, and were afraid to ask him.
32Mais les disciples ne comprenaient pas cette parole, et ils craignaient de l'interroger.
32והם לא הבינו את הדבר וייראו לשאל אותו׃
33And they came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house he asked them, What were ye reasoning on the way?
33Ils arrivèrent à Capernaüm. Lorsqu'il fut dans la maison, Jésus leur demanda: De quoi discutiez-vous en chemin?
33ויבא אל כפר נחום ובהיותו בבית וישאל אותם מה התוכחתם איש עם רעהו בדרך׃
34But they held their peace: for they had disputed one with another on the way, who [was] the greatest.
34Mais ils gardèrent le silence, car en chemin ils avaient discuté entre eux pour savoir qui était le plus grand.
34ויחרישו כי התעשקו בדרך מי הוא הגדול בהם׃
35And he sat down, and called the twelve; and he saith unto them, If any man would be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.
35Alors il s'assit, appela les douze, et leur dit: Si quelqu'un veut être le premier, il sera le dernier de tous et le serviteur de tous.
35וישב ויקרא אל שנים העשר ויאמר אליהם איש כי יחפץ להיות הראשון הוא יהיה האחרון לכלם ומשרת כלם׃
36And he took a little child, and set him in the midst of them: and taking him in his arms, he said unto them,
36Et il prit un petit enfant, le plaça au milieu d'eux, et l'ayant pris dans ses bras, il leur dit:
36ויקח ילד ויעמידהו בתוכם ויחבקהו ויאמר להם׃
37Whosoever shall receive one of such little children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever receiveth me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
37Quiconque reçoit en mon nom un de ces petits enfants me reçoit moi-même; et quiconque me reçoit, reçoit non pas moi, mais celui qui m'a envoyé.
37כל אשר יקבל בשמי ילד אחד כזה הוא מקבל אותי וכל אשר אותי יקבל איננו מקבל אותי כי אם את אשר שלחני׃
38John said unto him, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbade him, because he followed not us.
38Jean lui dit: Maître, nous avons vu un homme qui chasse des démons en ton nom; et nous l'en avons empêché, parce qu'il ne nous suit pas.
38ויען יוחנן ויאמר אליו רבי ראינו איש מגרש שדים בשמך ואיננו הולך אחרינו ונכלאנו יען אשר לא הלך אחרינו׃
39But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man who shall do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.
39Ne l'en empêchez pas, répondit Jésus, car il n'est personne qui, faisant un miracle en mon nom, puisse aussitôt après parler mal de moi.
39ויאמר ישוע אל תכלאהו כי אין איש עשה גבורה בשמי ויוכל במהרה לדבר בי רעה׃
40For he that is not against us is for us.
40Qui n'est pas contre nous est pour nous.
40כי כל אשר איננו נגדנו הוא בעדנו׃
41For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink, because ye are Christ's, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
41Et quiconque vous donnera à boire un verre d'eau en mon nom, parce que vous appartenez à Christ, je vous le dis en vérité, il ne perdra point sa récompense.
41כי כל המשקה אתכם כוס מים בשמי על אשר אתם למשיח אמן אמר אני לכם כי לא יאבד שכרו׃
42And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it were better for him if a great millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
42Mais, si quelqu'un scandalisait un de ces petits qui croient, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu'on lui mît au cou une grosse meule de moulin, et qu'on le jetât dans la mer.
42וכל המכשיל אחד הקטנים המאמינים בי טוב לו שיתלה פלח רכב על צוארו והשלך בים׃
43And if thy hand cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed, rather than having thy two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire.
43Si ta main est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-la; mieux vaut pour toi entrer manchot dans la vie,
43ואם ידך תכשילך קצץ אתה טוב לך לבוא קטע לחיים מהיות לך שתי ידים ותלך אל גיהנם אל האש אשר לא תכבה׃
44[where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.]
44que d'avoir les deux mains et d'aller dans la géhenne, dans le feu qui ne s'éteint point.
44אשר שם תולעתם לא תמות ואשם לא תכבה׃
45And if thy foot cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life halt, rather than having thy two feet to be cast into hell.
45Si ton pied est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-le; mieux vaut pour toi entrer boiteux dans la vie,
45ואם רגלך תכשילך קצץ אתה טוב לך לבוא פסח לחיים מהיות לך שתי רגלים ותשלך לגיהנם אל האש אשר לא תכבה׃
46[where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.]
46que d'avoir les deux pieds et d'être jeté dans la géhenne, dans le feu qui ne s'éteint point.
46אשר שם תולעתם לא תמות ואשם לא תכבה׃
47And if thine eye cause thee to stumble, cast it out: it is good for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell;
47Et si ton oeil est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le; mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans le royaume de Dieu n'ayant qu'un oeil, que d'avoir deux yeux et d'être jeté dans la géhenne,
47ואם עינך תכשילך עקר אתה טוב לך לבוא אל מלכות האלהים בעין אחת מהיות לך שתי עינים ותשלך לגיהנם׃
48where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
48où leur ver ne meurt point, et où le feu ne s'éteint point.
48אשר שם תולעתם לא תמות ואשם לא תכבה׃
49For every one shall be salted with fire.
49Car tout homme sera salé de feu.
49כי כל איש באש ימלח וכל קרבן במלח ימלח׃
50Salt is good: but if the salt have lost its saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace one with another.
50Le sel est une bonne chose; mais si le sel devient sans saveur, avec quoi l'assaisonnerez-vous? Ayez du sel en vous-mêmes, et soyez en paix les uns avec les autres.
50טוב המלח ואם המלח יהיה תפל במה תתקנו אותו יהי לכם מלח בקרבכם ויהי שלום ביניכם׃
