¹In those days, when there was again a great multitude, and they had nothing to eat, he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them,

¹En ces jours-là, une foule nombreuse s'étant de nouveau réunie et n'ayant pas de quoi manger, Jésus appela les disciples, et leur dit:

¹ויהי בימים ההם בהקבץ עם רב ואין להם מה יאכלו ויקרא אל תלמידיו ויאמר אליהם׃

²I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat:

²Je suis ému de compassion pour cette foule; car voilà trois jours qu'ils sont près de moi, et ils n'ont rien à manger.

²נכמרו רחמי על העם כי זה שלשת ימים עמדו עמדי ואין להם לחם לאכל׃

³and if I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way; and some of them are come from far.

³Si je les renvoie chez eux à jeun, les forces leur manqueront en chemin; car quelques-uns d'entre eux sont venus de loin.

³והיה בשלחי אותם רעבים לבתיהם יתעלפו בדרך כי יש מהם אשר באו ממרחק׃

⁴And his disciples answered him, Whence shall one be able to fill these men with bread here in a desert place?

⁴Ses disciples lui répondirent: Comment pourrait-on les rassasier de pains, ici, dans un lieu désert?

⁴ויענו אתו תלמידיו מאין יוכל איש להשביע את אלה פה במדבר לחם׃

⁵And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

⁵Jésus leur demanda: Combien avez-vous de pains? Sept, répondirent-ils.

⁵וישאל אותם כמה ככרות לחם יש לכם ויאמרו שבע׃

⁶And he commandeth the multitude to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he brake, and gave to his disciples, to set before them; and they set them before the multitude.

⁶Alors il fit asseoir la foule par terre, prit les sept pains, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les rompit, et les donna à ses disciples pour les distribuer; et ils les distribuèrent à la foule.

⁶ויצו את העם לשבת לארץ ויקח את שבע ככרות הלחם ויברך ויפרס ויתן אותם לתלמידיו לשום לפניהם וישימו לפני העם׃

⁷And they had a few small fishes: and having blessed them, he commanded to set these also before them.

⁷Ils avaient encore quelques petits poissons, et Jésus, ayant rendu grâces, les fit aussi distribuer.

⁷ויהי להם מעט דגים קטנים ויברך ויאמר לשום לפניהם גם את אלה׃

⁸And they ate, and were filled: and they took up, of broken pieces that remained over, seven baskets.

⁸Ils mangèrent et furent rassasiés, et l'on emporta sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restaient.

⁸ויאכלו וישבעו וישאו מן הפתותים הנותרים שבעת דודים׃

⁹And they were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

⁹Ils étaient environ quatre mille. Ensuite Jésus les renvoya.

⁹והאכלים היו כארבעת אלפי איש וישלחם׃

¹⁰And straightway he entered into the boat with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

¹⁰Aussitôt il monta dans la barque avec ses disciples, et se rendit dans la contrée de Dalmanutha.

¹⁰אז ירד באניה עם תלמידיו ויבא אל גלילות דלמונתא׃

¹¹And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, trying him.

¹¹Les pharisiens survinrent, se mirent à discuter avec Jésus, et, pour l'éprouver, lui demandèrent un signe venant du ciel.

¹¹ויצאו הפרושים ויחלו להתוכח אתו וישאלו מעמו אות מן השמים והם מנסים אתו׃

¹²And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

¹²Jésus, soupirant profondément en son esprit, dit: Pourquoi cette génération demande-t-elle un signe? Je vous le dis en vérité, il ne sera point donné de signe à cette génération.

¹²ויאנח ברוחו ויאמר מה הדור הזה מבקש לו אות אמן אמר אני לכם אם ינתן אות לדור הזה׃

¹³And he left them, and again entering into [the boat] departed to the other side.

¹³Puis il les quitta, et remonta dans la barque, pour passer sur l'autre bord.

¹³ויעזב אותם וירד באניה וישב ויעבר אל עבר הים׃

¹⁴And they forgot to take bread; and they had not in the boat with them more than one loaf.

¹⁴Les disciples avaient oublié de prendre des pains; ils n'en avaient qu'un seul avec eux dans la barque.

¹⁴וישכחו לקחת אתם לחם ולא היה להם באניה בלתי אם ככר לחם אחת׃

¹⁵And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.

¹⁵Jésus leur fit cette recommandation: Gardez-vous avec soin du levain des pharisiens et du levain d'Hérode.

¹⁵ויזהר אותם לאמר ראו השמרו לכם משאר הפרושים ומשאר הורדוס׃

¹⁶And they reasoned one with another, saying, We have no bread.

¹⁶Les disciples raisonnaient entre eux, et disaient: C'est parce que nous n'avons pas de pains.

¹⁶ויחשבו ויאמרו איש אל רעהו על כי לחם אין אתנו׃

¹⁷And Jesus perceiving it saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? do ye not yet perceive, neither understand? have ye your heart hardened?

¹⁷Jésus, l'ayant connu, leur dit: Pourquoi raisonnez-vous sur ce que vous n'avez pas de pains? Etes-vous encore sans intelligence, et ne comprenez-vous pas? Avez-vous le coeur endurci?

¹⁷וידע ישוע ויאמר להם מה תחשבו על כי לחם אין לכם העוד לא תשכילו ולא תבינו ולבכם עודנו מטמטם׃

¹⁸Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

¹⁸Ayant des yeux, ne voyez-vous pas? Ayant des oreilles, n'entendez-vous pas? Et n'avez-vous point de mémoire?

¹⁸עינים לכם ולא תראו ואזנים לכם ולא תשמעו ולא תזכרו׃

¹⁹When I brake the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

¹⁹Quand j'ai rompu les cinq pains pour les cinq mille hommes, combien de paniers pleins de morceaux avez-vous emportés? Douze, lui répondirent-ils.

¹⁹כאשר פרסתי את חמשת ככרות הלחם לחמשת אלפי איש כמה סלים מלאי פתותים נשאתם ויאמרו אליו שנים עשר׃

²⁰And when the seven among the four thousand, how many basketfuls of broken pieces took ye up? And they say unto him, Seven.

²⁰Et quand j'ai rompu les sept pains pour les quatre mille hommes, combien de corbeilles pleines de morceaux avez-vous emportées? Sept, répondirent-ils.

²⁰ובשבע לארבעת אלפי איש כמה דודים מלאי פתותים נשאתם ויאמרו אליו שבעה׃

²¹And he said unto them, Do ye not yet understand?

²¹Et il leur dit: Ne comprenez-vous pas encore?

²¹ויאמר אליהם איך לא תבינו׃

²²And they come unto Bethsaida. And they bring to him a blind man, and beseech him to touch him.

²²Ils se rendirent à Bethsaïda; et on amena vers Jésus un aveugle, qu'on le pria de toucher.

²²ויבא אל בית צידה ויביאו אליו איש עור ויתחננו לו לגעת בו׃

²³And he took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the village; and when he had spit on his eyes, and laid his hands upon him, he asked him, Seest thou aught?

²³Il prit l'aveugle par la main, et le conduisit hors du village; puis il lui mit de la salive sur les yeux, lui imposa les mains, et lui demanda s'il voyait quelque chose.

²³ויאחז ביד העור ויוליכהו אל מחוץ לכפר וירק בעיניו וישם את ידיו עליו וישאלהו לאמר הראה אתה דבר׃

²⁴And he looked up, and said, I see men; for I behold [them] as trees, walking.

²⁴Il regarda, et dit: J'aperçois les hommes, mais j'en vois comme des arbres, et qui marchent.

²⁴ויבט ויאמר אראה את בני האדם כי מתהלכים כאילנות אני ראה׃

²⁵Then again he laid his hands upon his eyes; and he looked stedfastly, and was restored, and saw all things clearly.

²⁵Jésus lui mit de nouveau les mains sur les yeux; et, quand l'aveugle regarda fixement, il fut guéri, et vit tout distinctement.

²⁵ויוסף לשום את ידיו על עיניו ותפקחנה עיניו וירפא וירא הכל היטב עד למרחוק׃

²⁶And he sent him away to his home, saying, Do not even enter into the village.

²⁶Alors Jésus le renvoya dans sa maison, en disant: N'entre pas au village.

²⁶וישלחהו אל ביתו לאמר אל תבא בתוך הכפר ואל תדבר לאיש בכפר׃

²⁷And Jesus went forth, and his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi: and on the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?

²⁷Jésus s'en alla, avec ses disciples, dans les villages de Césarée de Philippe, et il leur posa en chemin cette question: Qui dit-on que je suis?

²⁷ויצא ישוע ותלמידיו ללכת אל כפרי קיסרין של פילפוס ויהי בדרך וישאל את תלמידיו ויאמר אליהם מה אמרים עלי האנשים מי אני׃

²⁸And they told him, saying, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but others, One of the prophets.

²⁸Ils répondirent: Jean Baptiste; les autres, Elie, les autres, l'un des prophètes.

²⁸ויענו ויאמרו יוחנן המטביל ויש אמרים אליהו ואחרים אמרים אחד מן הנביאים׃

²⁹And he asked them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

²⁹Et vous, leur demanda-t-il, qui dites-vous que je suis? Pierre lui répondit: Tu es le Christ.

²⁹וישאל אתם לאמר ואתם מה תאמרו עלי מי אני ויען פטרוס ויאמר אליו אתה הוא המשיח׃

³⁰And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

³⁰Jésus leur recommanda sévèrement de ne dire cela de lui à personne.

³⁰ויצו אתם בגערה לבלתי דבר עליו לאיש׃

³¹And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

³¹Alors il commença à leur apprendre qu'il fallait que le Fils de l'homme souffrît beaucoup, qu'il fût rejeté par les anciens, par les principaux sacrificateurs et par les scribes, qu'il fût mis à mort, et qu'il ressuscitât trois jours après.

³¹ויחל ללמדם כי צריך בן האדם לענות הרבה וימאס על ידי הזקנים והכהנים הגדולים והסופרים ויומת ומקצה שלשת ימים קום יקום׃

³²And he spake the saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

³²Il leur disait ces choses ouvertement. Et Pierre, l'ayant pris à part, se mit à le reprendre.

³²והוא בגלוי דבר את הדבר הזה ויקחהו פטרוס ויחל לגער בו׃

³³But he turning about, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and saith, Get thee behind me, Satan; for thou mindest not the things of God, but the things of men.

³³Mais Jésus, se retournant et regardant ses disciples, réprimanda Pierre, et dit: Arrière de moi, Satan! car tu ne conçois pas les choses de Dieu, tu n'as que des pensées humaines.

³³ויפן אחריו ויבט את תלמידיו ויגער בפטרוס לאמר סור מעל פני השטן כי אין לבך לדברי האלהים כי אם לדברי האדם׃

³⁴And he called unto him the multitude with his disciples, and said unto them, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

³⁴Puis, ayant appelé la foule avec ses disciples, il leur dit: Si quelqu'un veut venir après moi, qu'il renonce à lui-même, qu'il se charge de sa croix, et qu'il me suive.

³⁴ויקרא אל העם ואל תלמידיו ויאמר אליהם החפץ ללכת אחרי יכחש בנפשו וישא את צלבו וילך אחרי׃

³⁵For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it.

³⁵Car celui qui voudra sauver sa vie la perdra, mais celui qui perdra sa vie à cause de moi et de la bonne nouvelle la sauvera.

³⁵כי כל אשר יחפץ להושיע את נפשו תאבד נפשו ממנו וכל אשר תאבד לו נפשו למעני ולמען הבשורה הוא יושיענה׃

³⁶For what doth it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?

³⁶Et que sert-il à un homme de gagner tout le monde, s'il perd son âme?

³⁶כי מה יסכן לאדם כי יקנה את כל העולם ונשחתה נפשו׃

³⁷For what should a man give in exchange for his life?

³⁷Que donnerait un homme en échange de son âme?

³⁷או מה יתן איש פדיון נפשו׃

³⁸For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man also shall be ashamed of him, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

³⁸Car quiconque aura honte de moi et de mes paroles au milieu de cette génération adultère et pécheresse, le Fils de l'homme aura aussi honte de lui, quand il viendra dans la gloire de son Père, avec les saints anges.

³⁸כי כל איש אשר הייתי אני ודברי לו לחרפה בדור הנאף והחוטא הזה אף הוא יהיה לחרפה לבן האדם בבואו בכבוד אביו עם המלאכים הקדושים׃
