¹And there are gathered together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, who had come from Jerusalem,

¹Les pharisiens et quelques scribes, venus de Jérusalem, s'assemblèrent auprès de Jésus.

¹ויקהלו אליו הפרושים ומן הסופרים אשר באו מירושלים׃

²and had seen that some of his disciples ate their bread with defiled, that is, unwashen, hands.

²Ils virent quelques-uns de ses disciples prendre leurs repas avec des mains impures, c'est-à-dire, non lavées.

²ויהי כראותם מתלמידיו אכלים לחם בטמאת ידיהם בלא נטילה ויוכיחו אתם׃

³(For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands diligently, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders;

³Or, les pharisiens et tous les Juifs ne mangent pas sans s'être lavé soigneusement les mains, conformément à la tradition des anciens;

³כי הפרושים וכל היהודים לא יאכלו בלתי את רחצו את ידיהם עד הפרק באחזם בקבלת הזקנים׃

⁴and [when they come] from the market-place, except they bathe themselves, they eat not; and many other things there are, which they have received to hold, washings of cups, and pots, and brasen vessels.)

⁴et, quand ils reviennent de la place publique, ils ne mangent qu'après s'être purifiés. Ils ont encore beaucoup d'autres observances traditionnelles, comme le lavage des coupes, des cruches et des vases d'airain.

⁴ואת אשר מן השוק אינם אכלים בלא טבילה ועוד דברים אחרים רבים אשר קבלו לשמר כמו טבילת כסות וכדים ויורות ומטות׃

⁵And the Pharisees and the scribes ask him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with defiled hands?

⁵Et les pharisiens et les scribes lui demandèrent: Pourquoi tes disciples ne suivent-ils pas la tradition des anciens, mais prennent-ils leurs repas avec des mains impures?

⁵וישאלו אותו הפרושים והסופרים מדוע תלמידיך אינם נהגים על פי קבלת הזקנים כי אכלים לחם בלא נטבילת ידים׃

⁶And he said unto them, Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, But their heart is far from me.

⁶Jésus leur répondit: Hypocrites, Esaïe a bien prophétisé sur vous, ainsi qu'il est écrit: Ce peuple m'honore des lèvres, Mais son coeur est éloigné de moi.

⁶ויען ויאמר אליהם היטב נבא ישעיהו עליכם החנפים ככתוב העם הזה בשפתיו כבדוני ולבו רחק ממני׃

⁷But in vain do they worship me, Teaching [as their] doctrines the precepts of men.

⁷C'est en vain qu'ils m'honorent, En donnant des préceptes qui sont des commandements d'hommes.

⁷ותהו יראתם אתי מצות אנשים מלמדים׃

⁸Ye leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men.

⁸Vous abandonnez le commandement de Dieu, et vous observez la tradition des hommes.

⁸כי עזבתם את מצות אלהים לאחז בקבלת בני אדם טבילות כדים וכסות וכאלה רבות אתם עשים׃

⁹And he said unto them, Full well do ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your tradition.

⁹Il leur dit encore: Vous anéantissez fort bien le commandement de Dieu, pour garder votre tradition.

⁹ויאמר אליהם מה יפה עשיתם אשר בטלתם את מצות האלהים כדי שתשמרו את קבלתכם׃

¹⁰For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death:

¹⁰Car Moïse a dit: Honore ton père et ta mère; et: Celui qui maudira son père ou sa mère sera puni de mort.

¹⁰כי משה אמר כבד את אביך ואת אמך ומקלל אביו ואמו מות יומת׃

¹¹but ye say, If a man shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is Corban, that is to say, Given [to God];

¹¹Mais vous, vous dites: Si un homme dit à son père ou à sa mère: Ce dont j'aurais pu t'assister est corban, c'est-à-dire, une offrande à Dieu,

¹¹ואתם אמרים איש כי יאמר לאביו ולאמו קרבן פרושו מתנה לאלהים כל מה שאתה נהנה לי׃

¹²ye no longer suffer him to do aught for his father or his mother;

¹²vous ne le laissez plus rien faire pour son père ou pour sa mère,

¹²ולא תניחו לו לעשות עוד מאומה לאביו ולאמו׃

¹³making void the word of God by your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things ye do.

¹³annulant ainsi la parole de Dieu par votre tradition, que vous avez établie. Et vous faites beaucoup d'autres choses semblables.

¹³ותפרו את דבר האלהים על ידי קבלתכם אשר קבלתם והרבה כאלה אתם עשים׃

¹⁴And he called to him the multitude again, and said unto them, Hear me all of you, and understand:

¹⁴Ensuite, ayant de nouveau appelé la foule à lui, il lui dit: Ecoutez-moi tous, et comprenez.

¹⁴ויקרא אל כל העם ויאמר אליהם שמעו אלי כלכם והבינו׃

¹⁵there is nothing from without the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man.

¹⁵Il n'est hors de l'homme rien qui, entrant en lui, puisse le souiller; mais ce qui sort de l'homme, c'est ce qui le souille.

¹⁵אין דבר מחוץ לאדם אשר יוכל לטמא אותו בבאו אל קרבו כי אם הדברים היוצאים ממנו המה יטמאו את האדם׃

¹⁶[If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.]

¹⁶Si quelqu'un a des oreilles pour entendre, qu'il entende.

¹⁶כל אשר אזנים לו לשמע ישמע׃

¹⁷And when he was entered into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked of him the parable.

¹⁷Lorsqu'il fut entré dans la maison, loin de la foule, ses disciples l'interrogèrent sur cette parabole.

¹⁷ויהי כאשר שב הביתה מן ההמון וישאלהו תלמידיו על דבר המשל׃

¹⁸And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Perceive ye not, that whatsoever from without goeth into the man, [it] cannot defile him;

¹⁸Il leur dit: Vous aussi, êtes-vous donc sans intelligence? Ne comprenez-vous pas que rien de ce qui du dehors entre dans l'homme ne peut le souiller?

¹⁸ויאמר אליהם האף אתם חסרי בינה הלא תשכילו כי כל הבא את תוך האדם מחוצה לו לא יטמאנו׃

¹⁹because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? [This he said], making all meats clean.

¹⁹Car cela n'entre pas dans son coeur, mais dans son ventre, puis s'en va dans les lieux secrets, qui purifient tous les aliments.

¹⁹כי לא יבוא אל לבו כי אם אל כרשו ויצא למוצאות להבר כל אכל׃

²⁰And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man.

²⁰Il dit encore: Ce qui sort de l'homme, c'est ce qui souille l'homme.

²⁰ויאמר היצא מן האדם הוא מטמא את האדם׃

²¹For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,

²¹Car c'est du dedans, c'est du coeur des hommes, que sortent les mauvaises pensées, les adultères, les impudicités, les meurtres,

²¹]22-12[ כי מתוך לב האדם יצאות המחשבות הרעות נאף וזנה ורצוח וגנוב ואהבת בצע ורשעה ורמיה וזוללות וצרות עין וגדוף וזדון וסכלות׃

²²covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness:

²²les vols, les cupidités, les méchancetés, la fraude, le dérèglement, le regard envieux, la calomnie, l'orgueil, la folie.

²²]22-12[׃

²³all these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man.

²³Toutes ces choses mauvaises sortent du dedans, et souillent l'homme.

²³כל הרעות האלה מקרב האדם הן יוצאות ומטמאות אתו׃

²⁴And from thence he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered into a house, and would have no man know it; and he could not be hid.

²⁴Jésus, étant parti de là, s'en alla dans le territoire de Tyr et de Sidon. Il entra dans une maison, désirant que personne ne le sût; mais il ne put rester caché.

²⁴ויקם משם וילך לו אל גבולות צור וצידון ובבואו הביתה לא אבה כי יודע לאיש ולא יכל להסתר׃

²⁵But straightway a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet.

²⁵Car une femme, dont la fille était possédée d'un esprit impur, entendit parler de lui, et vint se jeter à ses pieds.

²⁵כי אשה אשר רוח טמאה נכנסה בבתה הקטנה שמעה את שמעו ותבא ותפל לרגליו׃

²⁶Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. And she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter.

²⁶Cette femme était grecque, syro-phénicienne d'origine. Elle le pria de chasser le démon hors de sa fille.

²⁶והאשה יונית וארץ מולדתה כנען אשר לסוריא ותבקש ממנו לגרש אר השד מבתה׃

²⁷And he said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs.

²⁷Jésus lui dit: Laisse d'abord les enfants se rassasier; car il n'est pas bien de prendre le pain des enfants, et de le jeter aux petits chiens.

²⁷ויאמר אליה ישוע הניחו לשבע בראשונה הבנים כי לא טוב לקחת לחם הבנים ולהשליכו לצעירי הכלבים׃

²⁸But she answered and saith unto him, Yea, Lord; even the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.

²⁸Oui, Seigneur, lui répondit-elle, mais les petits chiens, sous la table, mangent les miettes des enfants.

²⁸ותען ותאמר אליו כן אדני אבל גם צעירי הכלבים יאכלו תחת השלחן מפרורי לחם הבנים׃

²⁹And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the demon is gone out of thy daughter.

²⁹Alors il lui dit: à cause de cette parole, va, le démon est sorti de ta fille.

²⁹ויאמר אליה בגלל דברך זה לכי לך יצא השד מבתך׃

³⁰And she went away unto her house, and found the child laid upon the bed, and the demon gone out.

³⁰Et, quand elle rentra dans sa maison, elle trouva l'enfant couchée sur le lit, le démon étant sorti.

³⁰ותבא אל ביתה ותמצא את הילדה משכבת על חמטה והשד יצא ממנה׃

³¹And again he went out from the borders of Tyre, and came through Sidon unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the borders of Decapolis.

³¹Jésus quitta le territoire de Tyr, et revint par Sidon vers la mer de Galilée, en traversant le pays de la Décapole.

³¹וישב ויצא מגבול צור וצידון ויבא אל ים הגליל בתוך גבול עשר הערים׃

³²And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to lay his hand upon him.

³²On lui amena un sourd, qui avait de la difficulté à parler, et on le pria de lui imposer les mains.

³²ויביאו אליו איש אשר היה חרש ואלם ויתחננו לו לשום עליו את ידו׃

³³And he took him aside from the multitude privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue;

³³Il le prit à part loin de la foule, lui mit les doigts dans les oreilles, et lui toucha la langue avec sa propre salive;

³³ויקח אתו לבדו מקרב ההמון וישם את אצבעותיו באזניו וירק ויגע על לשנו׃

³⁴and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.

³⁴puis, levant les yeux au ciel, il soupira, et dit: Ephphatha, c'est-à-dire, ouvre-toi.

³⁴ויבט השמימה ויאנח ויאמר אליו אפתח ופרושו הפתח׃

³⁵And his ears were opened, and the bond of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.

³⁵Aussitôt ses oreilles s'ouvrirent, sa langue se délia, et il parla très bien.

³⁵וברגע נפתחו אזניו ויתר קשר לשונו וידבר בשפה ברורה׃

³⁶And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it.

³⁶Jésus leur recommanda de n'en parler à personne; mais plus il le leur recommanda, plus ils le publièrent.

³⁶ויזהר אותם כי לא יספרו לאיש וכאשר יזהירם כן ירבו להכריז׃

³⁷And they were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh even the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

³⁷Ils étaient dans le plus grand étonnement, et disaient: Il fait tout à merveille; même il fait entendre les sourds, et parler les muets.

³⁷וישתוממו עד מאד ויאמרו את הכל עשה יפה גם החרשים הוא עשה לשמעים גם האלמים למדברים׃
