²Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judah and his brethren;

²אברהם הוליד את יצחק ויצחק הוליד את יעקב ויעקב הוליד את יהודה ואת אחיו׃

³and Judah begat Perez and Zerah of Tamar; and Perez begat Hezron; and Hezron begat Ram;

³Juda engendra de Thamar Pharès et Zara; Pharès engendra Esrom; Esrom engendra Aram;

³ויהודה הוליד את פרץ ואת זרח מתמר ופרץ הוליד את חצרון וחצרון הוליד את רם׃

⁴and Ram begat Amminadab; and Amminadab begat Nahshon; and Nahshon begat Salmon;

⁴Aram engendra Aminadab; Aminadab engendra Naasson; Naasson engendra Salmon;

⁴ורם הוליד את עמינדב ועמינדב הוליד את נחשון ונחשון הוליד את שלמון׃

⁵and Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab; and Boaz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;

⁵Salmon engendra Boaz de Rahab; Boaz engendra Obed de Ruth; Obed engendra Isaï;

⁵ושלמון הוליד את בעז מרחב ובעז הוליד את עובד מרות ועובד הוליד את ישי׃

⁶and Jesse begat David the king. And David begat Solomon of her [that had been the wife] of Uriah;

⁶Isaï engendra David. Le roi David engendra Salomon de la femme d'Urie;

⁶וישי הוליד את דוד המלך ודוד המלך הוליד את שלמה מאשת אוריה׃

⁷and Solomon begat Rehoboam; and Rehoboam begat Abijah; and Abijah begat Asa;

⁷Salomon engendra Roboam; Roboam engendra Abia; Abia engendra Asa;

⁷ושלמה הוליד את רחבעם ורחבעם הוליד את אביה ואביה הוליד את אסא׃

⁸and Asa begat Jehoshaphat; and Jehoshaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Uzziah;

⁸Asa engendra Josaphat; Josaphat engendra Joram; Joram engendra Ozias;

⁸ואסא הוליד את יהושפט ויהושפט הוליד את יורם ויורם הוליד את עזיהו׃

⁹and Uzziah begat Jotham; and Jotham begat Ahaz; and Ahaz begat Hezekiah;

⁹Ozias engendra Joatham; Joatham engendra Achaz; Achaz engendra Ezéchias;

⁹ועזיהו הוליד את יותם ויותם הוליד את אחז ואחז הוליד את יחזקיהו׃

¹⁰and Hezekiah begat Manasseh; and Manasseh begat Amon; and Amon begat Josiah;

¹⁰Ezéchias engendra Manassé; Manassé engendra Amon; Amon engendra Josias;

¹⁰ויחזקיהו הוליד את מנשה ומנשה הוליד את אמון ואמון הוליד את יאשיהו׃

¹¹and Josiah begat Jechoniah and his brethren, at the time of the carrying away to Babylon.

¹¹Josias engendra Jéchonias et ses frères, au temps de la déportation à Babylone.

¹¹ויאשיהו הוליד את יכניהו ואת אחיו לעת גלות בבל׃

¹²And after the carrying away to Babylon, Jechoniah begat Shealtiel; and Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel;

¹²Après la déportation à Babylone, Jéchonias engendra Salathiel; Salathiel engendra Zorobabel;

¹²ואחרי גלותם בבלה הוליד יכניה את שאלתיאל ושאלתיאל הוליד את זרבבל׃

¹³and Zerubbabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;

¹³Zorobabel engendra Abiud; Abiud engendra Eliakim; Eliakim engendra Azor;

¹³וזרבבל הוליד את אביהוד ואביהוד הוליד את אליקים ואליקים הוליד את עזור׃

¹⁴and Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;

¹⁴Azor engendra Sadok; Sadok engendra Achim; Achim engendra Eliud;

¹⁴ועזור הוליד את צדוק וצדוק הוליד את יכין ויכין הוליד את אליהוד׃

¹⁵and Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

¹⁵Eliud engendra Eléazar; Eléazar engendra Matthan; Matthan engendra Jacob;

¹⁵ואליהוד הוליד את אלעזר ואלעזר הוליד את מתן ומתן הוליד את יעקב׃

¹⁶and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

¹⁶Jacob engendra Joseph, l'époux de Marie, de laquelle est né Jésus, qui est appelé Christ.

¹⁶ויעקב הוליד את יוסף בעל מרים אשר ממנה נולד ישוע הנקרא משיח׃

¹⁷So all the generations from Abraham unto David are fourteen generations; and from David unto the carrying away to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the carrying away to Babylon unto the Christ fourteen generations.

¹⁷Il y a donc en tout quatorze générations depuis Abraham jusqu'à David, quatorze générations depuis David jusqu'à la déportation à Babylone, et quatorze générations depuis la déportation à Babylone jusqu'au Christ.

¹⁷והנה כל הדרות מן אברהם עד דוד ארבעה עשר דרות ומן דוד עד גלות בבל ארבעה עשר דרות ומעת גלות בבל עד המשיח ארבעה עשר דרות׃

¹⁸Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸Voici de quelle manière arriva la naissance de Jésus-Christ. Marie, sa mère, ayant été fiancée à Joseph, se trouva enceinte, par la vertu du Saint-Esprit, avant qu'ils eussent habité ensemble.

¹⁸והלדת ישוע המשיח כה היתה מרים אמו ארשה ליוסף ובטרם יבא אליה נמצאת הרה לרוח הקדש׃

¹⁹And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

¹⁹Joseph, son époux, qui était un homme de bien et qui ne voulait pas la diffamer, se proposa de rompre secrètement avec elle.

¹⁹ויוסף בעלה היה איש צדיק ולא אבה לתתה לבוז ויאמר בלבו לשלחה בסתר׃

²⁰But when he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

²⁰Comme il y pensait, voici, un ange du Seigneur lui apparut en songe, et dit: Joseph, fils de David, ne crains pas de prendre avec toi Marie, ta femme, car l'enfant qu'elle a conçu vient du Saint-Esprit;

²⁰הוא חשב כזאת והנה מלאך יהוה נראה אליו בחלום ויאמר יוסף בן דוד אל תירא מכנוס אליך את מרים אשתך כי אשר הרה בה מרוח הקדש הוא׃

²¹And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name JESUS; for it is he that shall save his people from their sins.

²¹elle enfantera un fils, et tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus; c'est lui qui sauvera son peuple de ses péchés.

²¹והיא ילדת בן וקראת את שמו ישוע כי הוא יושיע את עמו מעונותיהם׃

²²Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

²²Tout cela arriva afin que s'accomplît ce que le Seigneur avait annoncé par le prophète:

²²ותהי כל זאת למלאת את אשר דבר יהוה ביד הנביא לאמר׃

²³Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us.

²³Voici, la vierge sera enceinte, elle enfantera un fils, et on lui donnera le nom d'Emmanuel, ce qui signifie Dieu avec nous.

²³הנה העלמה הרה וילדת בן וקראו שמו עמנואל אשר פרושו האל עמנו׃

²⁴And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took unto him his wife;

²⁴Joseph s'étant réveillé fit ce que l'ange du Seigneur lui avait ordonné, et il prit sa femme avec lui.

²⁴וייקץ יוסף משנתו ויעש כאשר צוהו מלאך יהוה ויקח אליו את אשתו׃

²⁵and knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he called his name JESUS.

²⁵Mais il ne la connut point jusqu'à ce qu'elle eût enfanté un fils, auquel il donna le nom de Jésus.

²⁵ולא ידעה עד כי ילדה בן את בכורה ויקרא את שמו ישוע׃
