¹Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

¹Alors Jésus fut emmené par l'Esprit dans le désert, pour être tenté par le diable.

¹אז נשא הרוח את ישוע המדברה למען ינסהו השטן׃

²And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he afterward hungered.

²Après avoir jeûné quarante jours et quarante nuits, il eut faim.

²ויהי אחרי צומו ארבעים יום וארבעים לילה וירעב׃

³And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.

³Le tentateur, s'étant approché, lui dit: Si tu es Fils de Dieu, ordonne que ces pierres deviennent des pains.

³ויגש אליו המנסה ויאמר אם בן האלהים אתה אמר לאבנים האלה ותהיין ללחם׃

⁴But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

⁴Jésus répondit: Il est écrit: L'homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu.

⁴ויען ויאמר הן כתוב לא על הלחם לבדו יחיה האדם כי על כל מוצא פי יי׃

⁵Then the devil taketh him into the holy city; and he set him on the pinnacle of the temple,

⁵Le diable le transporta dans la ville sainte, le plaça sur le haut du temple,

⁵וישאהו השטן אל עיר הקדש ויעמידהו על פנת בית המקדש׃

⁶and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.

⁶et lui dit: Si tu es Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas; car il est écrit: Il donnera des ordres à ses anges à ton sujet; Et ils te porteront sur les mains, De peur que ton pied ne heurte contre une pierre.

⁶ויאמר אליו אם בן האלהים אתה התנפל למטה כי כתוב כי מלאכיו יצוה לך ועל כפים ישאונך פן תגף באבן רגלך׃

⁷Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

⁷Jésus lui dit: Il est aussi écrit: Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu.

⁷ויאמר אליו ישוע ועוד כתוב לא תנסה את יהוה אלהיך׃

⁸Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

⁸Le diable le transporta encore sur une montagne très élevée, lui montra tous les royaumes du monde et leur gloire,

⁸ויוסף השטן וישאהו אל הר גבה מאד ויראהו את כל ממלכות תבל וכבודן׃

⁹and he said unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

⁹et lui dit: Je te donnerai toutes ces choses, si tu te prosternes et m'adores.

⁹ויאמר אליו את כל זאת לך אתננה אם תקד ותשתחוה לי׃

¹⁰Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

¹⁰Jésus lui dit: Retire-toi, Satan! Car il est écrit: Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu le serviras lui seul.

¹⁰ויאמר אליו ישוע סור ממני השטן כי כתוב ליהוה אלהיך תשתחוה ואותו לבדו תעבד׃

¹¹Then the devil leaveth him; and behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

¹¹Alors le diable le laissa. Et voici, des anges vinrent auprès de Jésus, et le servaient.

¹¹וירף ממנו השטן והנה נגשו אליו מלאכים וישרתוהו׃

¹²Now when he heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee;

¹²Jésus, ayant appris que Jean avait été livré, se retira dans la Galilée.

¹²ויהי כשמעו כי הסגירו את יוחנן וילך לו ארץ הגליל׃

¹³and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali:

¹³Il quitta Nazareth, et vint demeurer à Capernaüm, située près de la mer, dans le territoire de Zabulon et de Nephthali,

¹³ויעזב את נצרת ויבא וישב בכפר נחום אשר על שפת הים בגבול זבלון ונפתלי׃

¹⁴that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

¹⁴afin que s'accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par Esaïe, le prophète:

¹⁴למלאת הנאמר על פי ישעיהו הנביא לאמר׃

¹⁵The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, Toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,

¹⁵Le peuple de Zabulon et de Nephthali, De la contrée voisine de la mer, du pays au delà du Jourdain, Et de la Galilée des Gentils,

¹⁵ארצה זבלון וארצה נפתלי דרך הים עבר הירדן גליל הגוים׃

¹⁶The people that sat in darkness Saw a great light, And to them that sat in the region and shadow of death, To them did light spring up.

¹⁶Ce peuple, assis dans les ténèbres, A vu une grande lumière; Et sur ceux qui étaient assis dans la région et l'ombre de la mort La lumière s'est levée.

¹⁶העם ההלכים בחשך ראו אור גדול וישבי בארץ צלמות אור נגה עליהם׃

¹⁷From that time began Jesus to preach, and to say, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

¹⁷Dès ce moment Jésus commença à prêcher, et à dire: Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche.

¹⁷מן העת ההיא החל ישוע לקרא קרוא ואמור שובו כי הגיעה מלכות השמים׃

¹⁸And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishers.

¹⁸Comme il marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et André, son frère, qui jetaient un filet dans la mer; car ils étaient pêcheurs.

¹⁸ויהי בהתהלכו על יד ים הגליל וירא שני אנשים אחים את שמעון הנקרא פטרוס ואת אנדרי אחיו והמה משליכים מצודה בים כי דיגים היו׃

¹⁹And he saith unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men.

¹⁹Il leur dit: Suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes.

¹⁹ויאמר אליהם לכו אחרי ואשימכם לדיגי אנשים׃

²⁰And they straightway left the nets, and followed him.

²⁰Aussitôt, ils laissèrent les filets, et le suivirent.

²⁰ויעזבו מהרה את המכמרות וילכו אחריו׃

²¹And going on from thence he saw two other brethren, James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

²¹De là étant allé plus loin, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, qui étaient dans une barque avec Zébédée, leur père, et qui réparaient leurs filets. Il les appela,

²¹ויהי כעברו משם וירא שני אנשים אחים אחרים את יעקב בן זבדי ואת יוחנן אחיו באניה עם זבדי אביהם מתקנים את מכמרותם ויקרא אליהם׃

²²And they straightway left the boat and their father, and followed him.

²²et aussitôt ils laissèrent la barque et leur père, et le suivirent.

²²ויעזבו מיד את האניה ואת אביהם וילכו אחריו׃

²³And Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness among the people.

²³Jésus parcourait toute la Galilée, enseignant dans les synagogues, prêchant la bonne nouvelle du royaume, et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple.

²³ויסב ישוע בכל הגליל וילמד בבתי כנסיותיהם ויבשר בשורת המלכות וירפא כל מחלה וכל מדוה בעם׃

²⁴And the report of him went forth into all Syria: and they brought unto him all that were sick, holden with divers diseases and torments, possessed with demons, and epileptic, and palsied; and he healed them.

²⁴Sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie, et on lui amenait tous ceux qui souffraient de maladies et de douleurs de divers genres, des démoniaques, des lunatiques, des paralytiques; et il les guérissait.

²⁴ויצא שמעו בכל ארץ סוריא ויביאו אליו את כל החולים המענים בכל חלים ומכאובים ואחוזי שדים ומכי ירח ונכי אברים וירפאם׃

²⁵And there followed him great multitudes from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judaea and [from] beyond the Jordan.

²⁵Une grande foule le suivit, de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée, et d'au delà du Jourdain.

²⁵וילכו אחריו המנים המנים מן הגליל ומן עשר הערים ומירושלים ויהודה ומעבר לירדן׃
