¹Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

¹Gardez-vous de pratiquer votre justice devant les hommes, pour en être vus; autrement, vous n'aurez point de récompense auprès de votre Père qui est dans les cieux.

¹השמרו לכם מעשות צדקתכם לפני בני אדם למען יראו אתכם ואם לא אין לכם שכר מאת אביכם שבשמים׃

²When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

²Lors donc que tu fais l'aumône, ne sonne pas de la trompette devant toi, comme font les hypocrites dans les synagogues et dans les rues, afin d'être glorifiés par les hommes. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.

²לכן בעשותך צדקה אל תריע לפניך בשופר כמעשה החנפים בבתי הכנסיות ובחרבות למען יהללו אותם האמשים אמן אמר אני לכם כי לקחו את שכרם׃

³But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

³Mais quand tu fais l'aumône, que ta main gauche ne sache pas ce que fait ta droite,

³ואתה בעשותך צדקה אל תדע שמאלך את אשר עשה ימינך׃

⁴that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

⁴afin que ton aumône se fasse en secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.

⁴למען תהיה צדקתך בסתר ואביך הראה במסתרים הוא בגלוי יגמלך׃

⁵And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

⁵Lorsque vous priez, ne soyez pas comme les hypocrites, qui aiment à prier debout dans les synagogues et aux coins des rues, pour être vus des hommes. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.

⁵וכי תתפלל אל תהי כחנפים האהבים להתפלל בעמדם בבתי הכנסיות ואצל פנות השוקים למען יראו לבני אדם אמן אמר אני לכם כי לקחו את שכרם׃

⁶But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

⁶Mais quand tu pries, entre dans ta chambre, ferme ta porte, et prie ton Père qui est là dans le lieu secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.

⁶ואתה כי תתפלל בוא בחדרך וסגר דלתך בעדך והתפלל אל אביך אשר בסתר ואביך הראה במסתרים הוא בגלוי יגמלך׃

⁷And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

⁷En priant, ne multipliez pas de vaines paroles, comme les païens, qui s'imaginent qu'à force de paroles ils seront exaucés.

⁷ובהתפללכם אל תפטפטו כגוים החשבים כי בהרבות דבריהם ישמעו׃

⁸Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

⁸Ne leur ressemblez pas; car votre Père sait de quoi vous avez besoin, avant que vous le lui demandiez.

⁸ואתם אל תדמו להם כי יודע אביכם כל צרככם בטרם תשאלו ממנו׃

⁹After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

⁹Voici donc comment vous devez prier: Notre Père qui es aux cieux! Que ton nom soit sanctifié;

⁹לכן כה תתפללו אבינו שבשמים יתקדש שמך׃

¹⁰Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.

¹⁰que ton règne vienne; que ta volonté soit faite sur la terre comme au ciel.

¹⁰תבא מלכותך יעשה רצונך כמו בשמים כן בארץ׃

¹¹Give us this day our daily bread.

¹¹Donne-nous aujourd'hui notre pain quotidien;

¹¹את לחם חקנו תן לנו היום׃

¹²And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

¹²pardonne-nous nos offenses, comme nous aussi nous pardonnons à ceux qui nous ont offensés;

¹²וסלח לנו את חבותינו כאשר סלחנו גם אנחנו לחיבינו׃

¹³And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil [one.]

¹³ne nous induis pas en tentation, mais délivre-nous du malin. Car c'est à toi qu'appartiennent, dans tous les siècles, le règne, la puissance et la gloire. Amen!

¹³ואל תביאנו לידי נסיון כי אם חלצנו מן הרע כי לך הממלכה והגבורה והתפארת לעולמי עולמים אמן׃

¹⁴For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

¹⁴Si vous pardonnez aux hommes leurs offenses, votre Père céleste vous pardonnera aussi;

¹⁴כי אם תסלחו לבני אדם את חטאתם אביכם שבשמים יסלח גם לכם׃

¹⁵But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

¹⁵mais si vous ne pardonnez pas aux hommes, votre Père ne vous pardonnera pas non plus vos offenses.

¹⁵ואם לא תסלחו לבני אדם גם אביכם לא יסלח לכם את חטאתיכם׃

¹⁶Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

¹⁶Lorsque vous jeûnez, ne prenez pas un air triste, comme les hypocrites, qui se rendent le visage tout défait, pour montrer aux hommes qu'ils jeûnent. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.

¹⁶וכי תצומו אל תהיו זעפים כחנפים המשנים את פניהם להראות צמים לבני אדם אמן אמר אני לכם כי לקחו את שכרם׃

¹⁷But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;

¹⁷Mais quand tu jeûnes, parfume ta tête et lave ton visage,

¹⁷ואתה כי תצום סוך את ראשך ורחץ את פניך׃

¹⁸that thou be not seen of men to fast, but of thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee.

¹⁸afin de ne pas montrer aux hommes que tu jeûnes, mais à ton Père qui est là dans le lieu secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.

¹⁸למען לא תראה בצומך לבני אדם כי אם לאביך אשר בסתר ואביך הראה במסתרים הוא בגלוי יגמלך׃

¹⁹Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal:

¹⁹Ne vous amassez pas des trésors sur la terre, où la teigne et la rouille détruisent, et où les voleurs percent et dérobent;

¹⁹אל תאצרו לכם אוצרות בארץ אשר יאכלום שם סס ורקב וגנבים יחתרו שם וגנבו׃

²⁰but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

²⁰mais amassez-vous des trésors dans le ciel, où la teigne et la rouille ne détruisent point, et où les voleurs ne percent ni ne dérobent.

²⁰אבל תאצרו לכם אוצרות בשמים אשר סס ורקב לא יאכלום שם וגנבים לא יחתרו שם ולא יגנבו׃

²¹for where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.

²¹Car là où est ton trésor, là aussi sera ton coeur.

²¹כי במקום אשר אוצרכם בו שם יהיה גם לבבכם׃

²²The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

²²L'oeil est la lampe du corps. Si ton oeil est en bon état, tout ton corps sera éclairé;

²²נר הגוף הוא העין ואם עינך היא תמימה כל גופך יאור׃

²³But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is the darkness!

²³mais si ton oeil est en mauvais état, tout ton corps sera dans les ténèbres. Si donc la lumière qui est en toi est ténèbres, combien seront grandes ces ténèbres!

²³ואם עינך רעה כל גופך יחשך והנה אם יחשך האור אשר בקרבך מה רב החשך׃

²⁴No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

²⁴Nul ne peut servir deux maîtres. Car, ou il haïra l'un, et aimera l'autre; ou il s'attachera à l'un, et méprisera l'autre. Vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et Mamon.

²⁴לא יוכל איש לעבד שני אדנים כי אם ישנא את האחד ויאהב את האחר או ידבק באחד ויבזה את האחר לא תוכלו עבוד את האלהים ואת הממון׃

²⁵Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?

²⁵C'est pourquoi je vous dis: Ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre vie de ce que vous mangerez, ni pour votre corps, de quoi vous serez vêtus. La vie n'est-elle pas plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement?

²⁵על כן אמר אני לכם אל תדאגו לנפשכם מה תאכלו ומה תשתו ולגופכם מה תלבשו הלא הנפש היא יקרה מן המזון והגוף יקר מן המלבוש׃

²⁶Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value then they?

²⁶Regardez les oiseaux du ciel: ils ne sèment ni ne moissonnent, et ils n'amassent rien dans des greniers; et votre Père céleste les nourrit. Ne valez-vous pas beaucoup plus qu'eux?

²⁶הביטו וראו את עוף השמים אשר אינם זרעים ואינם קצרים ואינם אספים לאסמים ואביכם שבשמים מכלכל אתם הלא אתם נעליתם עליהם מאד׃

²⁷And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto the measure of his life?

²⁷Qui de vous, par ses inquiétudes, peut ajouter une coudée à la durée de sa vie?

²⁷ומי זה מכם אשר בדאגתו יוכל להוסיף על קומתו אמה אחת׃

²⁸And why are ye anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

²⁸Et pourquoi vous inquiéter au sujet du vêtement? Considérez comment croissent les lis des champs: ils ne travaillent ni ne filent;

²⁸וללבוש למה תדאגו התבוננו נא אל שושני השדה הצמחות אינן עמלות ואינן טות׃

²⁹yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

²⁹cependant je vous dis que Salomon même, dans toute sa gloire, n'a pas été vêtu comme l'un d'eux.

²⁹ואני אמר לכם כי גם שלמה בכל הדרו לא היה לבוש כאחת מהנה׃

³⁰But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith?

³⁰Si Dieu revêt ainsi l'herbe des champs, qui existe aujourd'hui et qui demain sera jetée au four, ne vous vêtira-t-il pas à plus forte raison, gens de peu de foi?

³⁰ואם ככה מלביש האלהים את חציר השדה אשר היום צמח ומחר ישלך לתוך התנור אף כי אתכם קטני האמונה׃

³¹Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

³¹Ne vous inquiétez donc point, et ne dites pas: Que mangerons-nous? que boirons-nous? de quoi serons-nous vêtus?

³¹לכן אל תדאגו לאמר מה נאכל ומה נשתה ומה נלבש׃

³²For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

³²Car toutes ces choses, ce sont les païens qui les recherchent. Votre Père céleste sait que vous en avez besoin.

³²כי את כל אלה מבקשים הגוים הלא ידע אביכם אשר בשמים כי אתם צריכים לכל אלה׃

³³But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

³³Cherchez premièrement le royaume et la justice de Dieu; et toutes ces choses vous seront données par-dessus.

³³אך בקשו בראשונה את מלכות אלהים ואת צדקתו ונוסף לכם כל אלה׃

³⁴Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

³⁴Ne vous inquiétez donc pas du lendemain; car le lendemain aura soin de lui-même. A chaque jour suffit sa peine.

³⁴לכן אל תדאגו ליום מחר כי יום מחר הוא ידאג לעצמו ודיו ליום צרתו׃
