¹Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

¹Les filles de Tselophchad, fils de Hépher, fils de Galaad, fils de Makir, fils de Manassé, des familles de Manassé, fils de Joseph, et dont les noms étaient Machla, Noa, Hogla, Milca et Thirtsa,

¹ותקרבנה בנות צלפחד בן חפר בן גלעד בן מכיר בן מנשה למשפחת מנשה בן יוסף ואלה שמות בנתיו מחלה נעה וחגלה ומלכה ותרצה׃

²And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the tent of meeting, saying,

²s'approchèrent et se présentèrent devant Moïse, devant le sacrificateur Eléazar, et devant les princes et toute l'assemblée, à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation. Elles dirent:

²ותעמדנה לפני משה ולפני אלעזר הכהן ולפני הנשיאם וכל העדה פתח אהל מועד לאמר׃

³Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the company of them that gathered themselves together against Jehovah in the company of Korah: but he died in his own sin; and he had no sons.

³Notre père est mort dans le désert; il n'était pas au milieu de l'assemblée de ceux qui se révoltèrent contre l'Eternel, de l'assemblée de Koré, mais il est mort pour son péché, et il n'avait point de fils.

³אבינו מת במדבר והוא לא היה בתוך העדה הנועדים על יהוה בעדת קרח כי בחטאו מת ובנים לא היו לו׃

⁴Why should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give unto us a possession among the brethren of our father.

⁴Pourquoi le nom de notre père serait-il retranché du milieu de sa famille, parce qu'il n'avait point eu de fils? Donne-nous une possession parmi les frères de notre père.

⁴למה יגרע שם אבינו מתוך משפחתו כי אין לו בן תנה לנו אחזה בתוך אחי אבינו׃

⁵And Moses brought their cause before Jehovah.

⁵Moïse porta la cause devant l'Eternel.

⁵ויקרב משה את משפטן לפני יהוה׃

⁶And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

⁶Et l'Eternel dit à Moïse:

⁶ויאמר יהוה אל משה לאמר׃

⁷The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

⁷Les filles de Tselophchad ont raison. Tu leur donneras en héritage une possession parmi les frères de leur père, et c'est à elles que tu feras passer l'héritage de leur père.

⁷כן בנות צלפחד דברת נתן תתן להם אחזת נחלה בתוך אחי אביהם והעברת את נחלת אביהן להן׃

⁸And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

⁸Tu parleras aux enfants d'Israël, et tu diras: Lorsqu'un homme mourra sans laisser de fils, vous ferez passer son héritage à sa fille.

⁸ואל בני ישראל תדבר לאמר איש כי ימות ובן אין לו והעברתם את נחלתו לבתו׃

⁹And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

⁹S'il n'a point de fille, vous donnerez son héritage à ses frères.

⁹ואם אין לו בת ונתתם את נחלתו לאחיו׃

¹⁰And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.

¹⁰S'il n'a point de frères, vous donnerez son héritage aux frères de son père.

¹⁰ואם אין לו אחים ונתתם את נחלתו לאחי אביו׃

¹¹And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute [and] ordinance, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

¹¹S'il n'y a point de frères de son père, vous donnerez son héritage au plus proche parent dans sa famille, et c'est lui qui le possédera. Ce sera pour les enfants d'Israël une loi et un droit, comme l'Eternel l'a ordonné à Moïse.

¹¹ואם אין אחים לאביו ונתתם את נחלתו לשארו הקרב אליו ממשפחתו וירש אתה והיתה לבני ישראל לחקת משפט כאשר צוה יהוה את משה׃

¹²And Jehovah said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mountain of Abarim, and behold the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

¹²L'Eternel dit à Moïse: Monte sur cette montagne d'Abarim, et regarde le pays que je donne aux enfants d'Israël.

¹²ויאמר יהוה אל משה עלה אל הר העברים הזה וראה את הארץ אשר נתתי לבני ישראל׃

¹³And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered;

¹³Tu le regarderas; mais toi aussi, tu seras recueilli auprès de ton peuple, comme Aaron, ton frère, a été recueilli;

¹³וראיתה אתה ונאספת אל עמיך גם אתה כאשר נאסף אהרן אחיך׃

¹⁴because ye rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the waters before their eyes. (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

¹⁴parce que vous avez été rebelles à mon ordre, dans le désert de Tsin, lors de la contestation de l'assemblée, et que vous ne m'avez point sanctifié à leurs yeux à l'occasion des eaux. Ce sont les eaux de contestation, à Kadès, dans le désert de Tsin.

¹⁴כאשר מריתם פי במדבר צן במריבת העדה להקדישני במים לעיניהם הם מי מריבת קדש מדבר צן׃

¹⁵And Moses spake unto Jehovah, saying,

¹⁵Moïse parla à l'Eternel, et dit:

¹⁵וידבר משה אל יהוה לאמר׃

¹⁶Let Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

¹⁶Que l'Eternel, le Dieu des esprits de toute chair, établisse sur l'assemblée un homme

¹⁶יפקד יהוה אלהי הרוחת לכל בשר איש על העדה׃

¹⁷who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of Jehovah be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

¹⁷qui sorte devant eux et qui entre devant eux, qui les fasse sortir et qui les fasse entrer, afin que l'assemblée de l'Eternel ne soit pas comme des brebis qui n'ont point de berger.

¹⁷אשר יצא לפניהם ואשר יבא לפניהם ואשר יוציאם ואשר יביאם ולא תהיה עדת יהוה כצאן אשר אין להם רעה׃

¹⁸And Jehovah said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay thy hand upon him;

¹⁸L'Eternel dit à Moïse: Prends Josué, fils de Nun, homme en qui réside l'esprit; et tu poseras ta main sur lui.

¹⁸ויאמר יהוה אל משה קח לך את יהושע בן נון איש אשר רוח בו וסמכת את ידך עליו׃

¹⁹and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

¹⁹Tu le placeras devant le sacrificateur Eléazar et devant toute l'assemblée, et tu lui donneras des ordres sous leurs yeux.

¹⁹והעמדת אתו לפני אלעזר הכהן ולפני כל העדה וצויתה אתו לעיניהם׃

²⁰And thou shalt put of thine honor upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.

²⁰Tu le rendras participant de ta dignité, afin que toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël l'écoute.

²⁰ונתתה מהודך עליו למען ישמעו כל עדת בני ישראל׃

²¹And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Jehovah: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

²¹Il se présentera devant le sacrificateur Eléazar, qui consultera pour lui le jugement de l'urim devant l'Eternel; et Josué, tous les enfants d'Israël avec lui, et toute l'assemblée, sortiront sur l'ordre d'Eléazar et entreront sur son ordre.

²¹ולפני אלעזר הכהן יעמד ושאל לו במשפט האורים לפני יהוה על פיו יצאו ועל פיו יבאו הוא וכל בני ישראל אתו וכל העדה׃

²²And Moses did as Jehovah commanded him; and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

²²Moïse fit ce que l'Eternel lui avait ordonné. Il prit Josué, et il le plaça devant le sacrificateur Eléazar et devant toute l'assemblée.

²²ויעש משה כאשר צוה יהוה אתו ויקח את יהושע ויעמדהו לפני אלעזר הכהן ולפני כל העדה׃

²³and he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as Jehovah spake by Moses.

²³Il posa ses mains sur lui, et lui donna des ordres, comme l'Eternel l'avait dit par Moïse.

²³ויסמך את ידיו עליו ויצוהו כאשר דבר יהוה ביד משה׃
