¹Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

¹Paul, serviteur de Jésus-Christ, appelé à être apôtre, mis à part pour annoncer l'Evangile de Dieu, -

¹פולוס עבד ישוע המשיח מקרא להיות שליח ונבדל לבשורת אלהים׃

²which he promised afore through his prophets in the holy scriptures,

²qui avait été promis auparavant de la part de Dieu par ses prophètes dans les saintes Ecritures,

²אשר הבטיחה מלפנים ביד נביאיו בכתבי הקדש׃

³concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,

³et qui concerne son Fils né de la postérité de David, selon la chair,

³על דבר בנו הנולד מזרע דוד לפי הבשר׃

⁴who was declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead; [even] Jesus Christ our Lord,

⁴et déclaré Fils de Dieu avec puissance, selon l'Esprit de sainteté, par sa résurrection d'entre les morts, Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur,

⁴אשר הוכן לבן האלהים בגבורה לפי רוח הקדשה בתחיתו מבין המתים הוא ישוע המשיח אדנינו׃

⁵through whom we received grace and apostleship, unto obedience of faith among all the nations, for his name's sake;

⁵par qui nous avons reçu la grâce et l'apostolat, pour amener en son nom à l'obéissance de la foi tous les païens,

⁵אשר בידו קבלנו חן ושליחות להקים משמעת האמונה בכל הגוים למען שמו׃

⁶among whom are ye also called [to be] Jesus Christ's:

⁶parmi lesquels vous êtes aussi, vous qui avez été appelés par Jésus-Christ, -

⁶אשר בתוכם הנכם גם אתם קרואי ישוע המשיח׃

⁷To all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called [to be] saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁷tous ceux qui, à Rome, sont bien-aimés de Dieu, appelés à être saints: que la grâce et la paix vous soient données de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ!

⁷לכל אשר ברומי ידידי אלהים וקרואים להיות קדושים חסד ושלום לכם מאת האלהים אבינו ואדנינו ישוע המשיח׃

⁸First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.

⁸Je rends d'abord grâces à mon Dieu par Jésus-Christ, au sujet de vous tous, de ce que votre foi est renommée dans le monde entier.

⁸בראשונה אודה לאלהי בישוע המשיח על כלכם אשר ספר אמונתכם בכל העולם׃

⁹For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, how unceasingly I make mention of you, always in my prayers

⁹Dieu, que je sers en mon esprit dans l'Evangile de son Fils, m'est témoin que je fais sans cesse mention de vous,

⁹כי האלהים אשר אני עבד אתו ברוחי בבשורת בנו לעד לי כי תמיד אני מזכיר אתכם׃

¹⁰making request, if by any means now at length I may be prospered by the will of God to come unto you.

¹⁰demandant continuellement dans mes prières d'avoir enfin, par sa volonté, le bonheur d'aller vers vous.

¹⁰בהעתירי בתפלותי בכל עת למען אשר רק הפעם אצליח ברצון אלהים לבוא אליכם׃

¹¹For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

¹¹Car je désire vous voir, pour vous communiquer quelque don spirituel, afin que vous soyez affermis,

¹¹כי נכסף נכספתי לראותכם ולחלק לכם אי זו מתת רוח למען תתחזקי׃

¹²that is, that I with you may be comforted in you, each of us by the other's faith, both yours and mine.

¹²ou plutôt, afin que nous soyons encouragés ensemble au milieu de vous par la foi qui nous est commune, à vous et à moi.

¹²והוא להתנחם עמכם זה בזה באמונה אשר לכם וגם לי׃

¹³And I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you (and was hindered hitherto), that I might have some fruit in you also, even as in the rest of the Gentiles.

¹³Je ne veux pas vous laisser ignorer, frères, que j'ai souvent formé le projet d'aller vous voir, afin de recueillir quelque fruit parmi vous, comme parmi les autres nations; mais j'en ai été empêché jusqu'ici.

¹³ולא אכחד מכם אחי כי פעמים רבות שמתי על לבי לבוא אליכם אך נמנע ממני עד הנה למען אמצא פרי גם בכם כמו ביתר הגוים׃

¹⁴I am debtor both to Greeks and to Barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.

¹⁴Je me dois aux Grecs et aux barbares, aux savants et aux ignorants.

¹⁴מחיב אנכי ליונים וגם ללעזים לחכמים וגם לפתאים׃

¹⁵So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you also that are in Rome.

¹⁵Ainsi j'ai un vif désir de vous annoncer aussi l'Evangile, à vous qui êtes à Rome.

¹⁵לכן נדבני לבי להשמיע את הבשורה גם אתכם אשר ברומי׃

¹⁶For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

¹⁶Car je n'ai point honte de l'Evangile: c'est une puissance de Dieu pour le salut de quiconque croit, du Juif premièrement, puis du Grec,

¹⁶כי אינני בוש מבשורת המשיח באשר גבורת אלהים היא לתשועת כל המאמין ליהודי בראשונה וכן גם ליוני׃

¹⁷For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith.

¹⁷parce qu'en lui est révélée la justice de Dieu par la foi et pour la foi, selon qu'il est écrit: Le juste vivra par la foi.

¹⁷כי תגלה בה צדקת אלהים מאמונה אל אמונה ככתוב וצדיק באמונתו יחיה׃

¹⁸For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hinder the truth in unrighteousness;

¹⁸La colère de Dieu se révèle du ciel contre toute impiété et toute injustice des hommes qui retiennent injustement la vérité captive,

¹⁸כי נגלה חרון אלהים מן השמים על כל רשעת בני אדם ועולתם אשר יעצרו את האמת בעולה׃

¹⁹because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them.

¹⁹car ce qu'on peut connaître de Dieu est manifeste pour eux, Dieu le leur ayant fait connaître.

¹⁹יען אשר דעת האלהים גלויה בקרבם כי האלהים הודיעם אותה׃

²⁰For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, [even] his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse:

²⁰En effet, les perfections invisibles de Dieu, sa puissance éternelle et sa divinité, se voient comme à l'oeil, depuis la création du monde, quand on les considère dans ses ouvrages. Ils sont donc inexcusables,

²⁰כי מהותו הנעלמה היא כחו הנצחי ואלהותו מעת נברא העולם תודע במעשים ותראה לבלתי היות להם להתנצל׃

²¹because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened.

²¹puisque ayant connu Dieu, ils ne l'ont point glorifié comme Dieu, et ne lui ont point rendu grâces; mais ils se sont égarés dans leurs pensées, et leur coeur sans intelligence a été plongé dans les ténèbres.

²¹יען בדעתם את האלהים לא כבדהו כאלהים וגם לא הודו לו כי אם הלכו אחרי ההבל במועצותיהם ויחשך לבם הנבער׃

²²Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

²²Se vantant d'être sages, ils sont devenus fous;

²²ובאמרם חכמים אנחנו היו לכסילים׃

²³and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

²³et ils ont changé la gloire du Dieu incorruptible en images représentant l'homme corruptible, des oiseaux, des quadrupèdes, et des reptiles.

²³וימירו את כבוד האלהים אשר איננו נפסד בדמות צלם אדם הנפסד צלם כל עוף והולך על ארבע ורמש האדמה׃

²⁴Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves:

²⁴C'est pourquoi Dieu les a livrés à l'impureté, selon les convoitises de leurs coeurs; en sorte qu'ils déshonorent eux-mêmes leurs propres corps;

²⁴על כן גם נתנם האלהים לטמאה בתאות לבם לנבל גויותיהם איש את רעהו׃

²⁵for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

²⁵eux qui ont changé la vérité de Dieu en mensonge, et qui ont adoré et servi la créature au lieu du Créateur, qui est béni éternellement. Amen!

²⁵אשר המירו אמת האלהים בכזב ויכבדו ויעבדו את הבריה תחת בראה המברך לעולמים אמן׃

²⁶For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature:

²⁶C'est pourquoi Dieu les a livrés à des passions infâmes: car leurs femmes ont changé l'usage naturel en celui qui est contre nature;

²⁶בעבור זאת נתנם האלהים לתאות בושה כי נשיהם החליפו את התשמיש כדרכן בשלא כדרכן׃

²⁷and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due.

²⁷et de même les hommes, abandonnant l'usage naturel de la femme, se sont enflammés dans leurs désirs les uns pour les autres, commettant homme avec homme des choses infâmes, et recevant en eux-mêmes le salaire que méritait leur égarement.

²⁷וכן גם הזכרים עזבו את תשמיש האשה כדרכה ויחמו זה בזה בתשוקתם ויעשו תועבה זכר עם זכר ויקחו שכר משובתם הראוי להם בעצם גופם׃

²⁸And even as they refused to have God in [their] knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

²⁸Comme ils ne se sont pas souciés de connaître Dieu, Dieu les a livrés à leur sens réprouvé, pour commettre des choses indignes,

²⁸וכאשר מאסו להשיג האלהים בדעת נתנם האלהים בידי דעה נמאסה לעשות את אשר לא יתכן׃

²⁹being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

²⁹tant remplis de toute espèce d'injustice, de méchanceté, de cupidité, de malice; pleins d'envie, de meurtre, de querelle, de ruse, de malignité; rapporteurs,

²⁹וירב בקרבם כל חמס זנות ורשע בצע ואון וימלאו קנאה ורצח ומריבה ומרמה ותהפכות׃

³⁰backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

³⁰médisants, impies, arrogants, hautains, fanfarons, ingénieux au mal, rebelles à leurs parents,

³⁰הלכי רכיל ומלשינים שנאי אלהים וגאים וזדים והוללים וחשבי און ואינם שמעים בקול אבותם׃

³¹without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful:

³¹dépourvus d'intelligence, de loyauté, d'affection naturelle, de miséricorde.

³¹נבערים מדעת ובגדים אכזרים נטרי שנאה ולא רחמנים׃

³²who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practise such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also consent with them that practise them.

³²Et, bien qu'ils connaissent le jugement de Dieu, déclarant dignes de mort ceux qui commettent de telles choses, non seulement ils les font, mais ils approuvent ceux qui les font.

³²יודעים המה את משפט אלהים כי עשי אלה בני מות הם ולא לבד שיעשו את אלה כי גם רצתה נפשם בעשיהם׃
