¹And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led in the Spirit in the wilderness

¹Yesus dikuasai oleh Roh Allah pada waktu Ia meninggalkan Sungai Yordan. Roh Allah memimpin Dia ke padang gurun.

²during forty days, being tempted of the devil. And he did eat nothing in those days: and when they were completed, he hungered.

²Di situ Ia dicobai oleh Iblis empat puluh hari lamanya. Sepanjang waktu itu, Ia tidak makan apa-apa. Jadi pada akhirnya Ia merasa lapar.

³And the devil said unto him, if thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it become bread.

³Iblis berkata kepada-Nya, "Engkau Anak Allah, bukan? Jadi, suruhlah batu ini menjadi roti."

⁴And Jesus answered unto him, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone.

⁴Yesus menjawab, "Di dalam Alkitab tertulis, 'Manusia tidak dapat hidup dari roti saja.'"

⁵And he led him up, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

⁵Lalu Iblis membawa Yesus ke tempat yang tinggi, dan dalam sekejap mata Iblis menunjukkan kepada-Nya semua kerajaan di dunia.

⁶And the devil said unto him, To thee will I give all this authority, and the glory of them: for it hath been delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

⁶"Semua kekuasaan dan kekayaan ini akan saya serahkan kepada-Mu," kata Iblis kepada Yesus, "sebab semuanya sudah diberikan kepada saya dan saya dapat memberikannya kepada siapa saja yang saya suka berikan.

⁷If thou therefore wilt worship before me, it shall all be thine.

⁷Semuanya itu akan menjadi milik-Mu, kalau Engkau sujud menyembah saya."

⁸And Jesus answered and said unto him, It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

⁸Yesus menjawab, "Di dalam Alkitab tertulis, 'Sembahlah Tuhan Allahmu dan layanilah Dia saja.'"

⁹And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

⁹Lalu Iblis membawa Yesus ke Yerusalem dan menaruh Dia di atas puncak Rumah Tuhan dan berkata kepada-Nya, "Engkau Anak Allah, bukan? Jadi, terjunlah dari sini.

¹⁰for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to guard thee:

¹⁰Sebab di dalam Alkitab tertulis, 'Allah akan menyuruh malaikat-malaikat-Ny menjaga Engkau baik-baik.'

¹¹and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.

¹¹Dan juga, 'Malaikat-malaikat akan menyambut Engkau dengan tangan mereka, supaya kaki-Mu pun tidak tersentuh pada batu.'"

¹²And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

¹²Yesus menjawab, "Di dalam Alkitab tertulis, 'Jangan mencobai Tuhan, Allahmu.'"

¹³And when the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him for a season.

¹³Setelah Iblis selesai mencobai Yesus dengan segala macam cara, ia meninggalkan Yesus dan menunggu waktu yang baik.

¹⁴And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and a fame went out concerning him through all the region round about.

¹⁴Kemudian Yesus kembali ke Galilea; dan Ia dikuasai oleh Roh Allah. Berita mengenai diri-Nya tersebar ke seluruh daerah itu.

¹⁵And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

¹⁵Ia mengajar di rumah-rumah ibadat, dan semua orang memuji Dia.

¹⁶And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and he entered, as his custom was, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.

¹⁶Yesus pergi pula ke Nazaret, tempat Ia dibesarkan. Pada hari Sabat, menurut kebiasaan-Nya Ia pergi ke rumah ibadat. Ia berdiri untuk membaca Alkitab,

¹⁷And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And he opened the book, and found the place where it was written,

¹⁷dan diberi buku Nabi Yesaya. Ia membuka gulungan buku itu, lalu didapati-Nya ayat ini,

¹⁸The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised,

¹⁸"Roh Tuhan ada pada-Ku, sebab Ia sudah melantik Aku untuk memberitakan Kabar Baik kepada orang miskin. Ia mengutus Aku untuk mengumumkan pembebasan kepada orang tertawan dan kesembuhan bagi orang buta; untuk membebaskan orang tertindas

¹⁹To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

¹⁹dan memberitakan datangnya saat Tuhan menyelamatkan umat-Nya."

²⁰And he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.

²⁰Yesus menggulung kembali buku itu, dan mengembalikannya kepada petugas, lalu duduk. Semua orang di dalam rumah ibadat itu memandang-Nya.

²¹And he began to say unto them, To-day hath this scripture been fulfilled in your ears.

²¹Dan Yesus mulai berbicara kepada mereka, begini, "Ayat-ayat Alkitab ini pada hari ini terpenuhi pada saat kalian mendengarnya."

²²And all bare him witness, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth: and they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

²²Kata-kata yang diucapkan-Nya bagus sekali, sehingga mereka kagum dan menyokong Dia. Mereka berkata, "Bukankah Dia anak Yusuf?"

²³And he said unto them, Doubtless ye will say unto me this parable, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in thine own country.

²³Maka Yesus berkata kepada mereka, "Pasti kalian akan memakai peribahasa ini terhadap Aku, 'Dokter, sembuhkanlah diri-Mu sendiri. Keajaiban yang kami dengar Kaulakukan di Kapernaum, lakukanlah juga di kampung halaman-Mu sendiri.'"

²⁴And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is acceptable in his own country.

²⁴Yesus menambahkan, "Ingatlah, tidak ada nabi yang dihormati di kampung halamannya sendiri.

²⁵But of a truth I say unto you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land;

²⁵Tetapi dengarlah: pada zaman Elia, ketika tidak turun hujan tiga setengah tahun lamanya, terjadi kelaparan yang hebat di seluruh negeri. Pada waktu itu ada banyak janda-janda di Israel.

²⁶and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

²⁶Meskipun begitu, Allah tidak menyuruh Elia pergi kepada salah satu dari janda-janda itu melainkan hanya kepada seorang janda di Sarfat di daerah Sidon.

²⁷And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.

²⁷Begitu juga pada zaman Nabi Elisa ada banyak orang di Israel berpenyakit kulit yang mengerikan, namun tidak seorang pun dari mereka yang disembuhkan, kecuali Naaman orang Siria itu."

²⁸And they were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things;

²⁸Semua orang di rumah ibadat itu marah sekali waktu mendengar hal itu.

²⁹and they rose up, and cast him forth out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong.

²⁹Mereka berdiri lalu mengusir Yesus ke luar kota, dan membawa-Nya ke tebing gunung, di mana kota mereka dibangun. Mereka bermaksud mendorong Dia ke dalam jurang.

³⁰But he passing through the midst of them went his way.

³⁰Tetapi Yesus menerobos orang banyak itu lalu pergi.

³¹And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the sabbath day:

³¹Kemudian Yesus pergi ke kota Kapernaum di Galilea. Di sana Ia mengajar orang-orang pada hari Sabat.

³²and they were astonished at his teaching; for his word was with authority.

³²Mereka kagum melihat caranya Ia mengajar, sebab Ia berbicara dengan wibawa.

³³And in the synagogue there was a man, that had a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice,

³³Di situ di rumah ibadat ada seorang yang dikuasai roh jahat. Orang itu menjerit-jerit,

³⁴Ah! what have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Nazarene? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

³⁴"Hai Yesus, orang Nazaret, Engkau mau buat apa dengan kami? Engkau datang untuk membinasakan kami? Saya tahu siapa Engkau: Engkau utusan yang suci dari Allah!"

³⁵And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst, he came out of him, having done him no hurt.

³⁵"Diam!" bentak Yesus kepada roh jahat itu. "Keluarlah dari orang ini!" Lalu roh jahat itu membanting orang itu di hadapan mereka semua, kemudian keluar dari orang itu tanpa menyakitinya.

³⁶And amazement came upon all, and they spake together, one with another, saying, What is this word? for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

³⁶Semua orang heran, dan berkata satu sama lain, "Bukan main kata-kata-Nya. Dengan wibawa dan kuasa, Ia memerintahkan roh-roh jahat keluar, dan mereka keluar juga!"

³⁷And there went forth a rumor concerning him into every place of the region round about.

³⁷Maka kabar tentang Yesus tersebar di seluruh wilayah itu.

³⁸And he rose up from the synagogue, and entered into the house of Simon. And Simon's wife's mother was holden with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

³⁸Yesus meninggalkan rumah ibadat itu, lalu pergi ke rumah Simon. Ibu mertua Simon sedang sakit demam, dan orang-orang memberitahukan hal itu kepada Yesus.

³⁹And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she rose up and ministered unto them.

³⁹Yesus pergi ke tempat tidur ibu itu, lalu mengusir demam itu. Demam itu hilang, dan ibu mertua Simon langsung bangun dan melayani mereka.

⁴⁰And when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

⁴⁰Ketika matahari sedang terbenam, semua orang membawa kepada Yesus saudara-saudaranya yang menderita bermacam-macam penyakit. Yesus meletakkan tangan-Nya ke atas mereka masing-masing dan menyembuhkan mereka.

⁴¹And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

⁴¹Roh-roh jahat pun keluar dari banyak orang, sambil berteriak-teriak, "Engkaulah Anak Allah!" Tetapi Yesus membentak mereka dan tidak mengizinkan mereka berbicara, sebab mereka tahu bahwa Dialah Raja Penyelamat.

⁴²And when it was day, he came out and went into a desert place: and the multitudes sought after him, and came unto him, and would have stayed him, that he should not go from them.

⁴²Pada waktu matahari mulai terbit Yesus meninggalkan kota itu lalu pergi ke suatu tempat yang sunyi. Orang-orang mulai mencari Dia, dan ketika mereka menemukan-Nya, mereka berusaha supaya Ia jangan meninggalkan mereka.

⁴³But he said unto them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore was I sent.

⁴³Tetapi Yesus berkata, "Kabar Baik tentang bagaimana Allah memerintah harus Aku beritakan juga di kota-kota lain, sebab untuk itulah Allah mengutus Aku ke dunia."

⁴⁴And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

⁴⁴Karena itu Yesus berkhotbah di dalam rumah-rumah ibadat di seluruh negeri Yudea.
