1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
1よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。羊の囲いにはいるのに、門からでなく、ほかの所からのりこえて来る者は、盗人であり、強盗である。
2But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
2門からはいる者は、羊の羊飼である。
3To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
3門番は彼のために門を開き、羊は彼の声を聞く。そして彼は自分の羊の名をよんで連れ出す。
4When he hath put forth all his own, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
4自分の羊をみな出してしまうと、彼は羊の先頭に立って行く。羊はその声を知っているので、彼について行くのである。
5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
5ほかの人には、ついて行かないで逃げ去る。その人の声を知らないからである」。
6This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
6イエスは彼らにこの比喩を話されたが、彼らは自分たちにお話しになっているのが何のことだか、わからなかった。
7Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
7そこで、イエスはまた言われた、「よくよくあなたがたに言っておく。わたしは羊の門である。
8All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
8わたしよりも前にきた人は、みな盗人であり、強盗である。羊は彼らに聞き従わなかった。
9I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.
9わたしは門である。わたしをとおってはいる者は救われ、また出入りし、牧草にありつくであろう。
10The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have [it] abundantly.
10盗人が来るのは、盗んだり、殺したり、滅ぼしたりするためにほかならない。わたしがきたのは、羊に命を得させ、豊かに得させるためである。
11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.
11わたしはよい羊飼である。よい羊飼は、羊のために命を捨てる。
12He that is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, beholdeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf snatcheth them, and scattereth [them]:
12羊飼ではなく、羊が自分のものでもない雇人は、おおかみが来るのを見ると、羊をすてて逃げ去る。そして、おおかみは羊を奪い、また追い散らす。
13[he fleeth] because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
13彼は雇人であって、羊のことを心にかけていないからである。
14I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me,
14わたしはよい羊飼であって、わたしの羊を知り、わたしの羊はまた、わたしを知っている。
15even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
15それはちょうど、父がわたしを知っておられ、わたしが父を知っているのと同じである。そして、わたしは羊のために命を捨てるのである。
16And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice: and they shall become one flock, one shepherd.
16わたしにはまた、この囲いにいない他の羊がある。わたしは彼らをも導かねばならない。彼らも、わたしの声に聞き従うであろう。そして、ついに一つの群れ、ひとりの羊飼となるであろう。
17Therefore doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
17父は、わたしが自分の命を捨てるから、わたしを愛して下さるのである。命を捨てるのは、それを再び得るためである。
18No one taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father.
18だれかが、わたしからそれを取り去るのではない。わたしが、自分からそれを捨てるのである。わたしには、それを捨てる力があり、またそれを受ける力もある。これはわたしの父から授かった定めである」。
19There arose a division again among the Jews because of these words.
19これらの言葉を語られたため、ユダヤ人の間にまたも分争が生じた。
20And many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why hear ye him?
20そのうちの多くの者が言った、「彼は悪霊に取りつかれて、気が狂っている。どうして、あなたがたはその言うことを聞くのか」。
21Others said, These are not the sayings of one possessed with a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?
21他の人々は言った、「それは悪霊に取りつかれた者の言葉ではない。悪霊は盲人の目をあけることができようか」。
22And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem:
22そのころ、エルサレムで宮きよめの祭が行われた。時は冬であった。
23it was winter; and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon's porch.
23イエスは、宮の中にあるソロモンの廊を歩いておられた。
24The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly.
24するとユダヤ人たちが、イエスを取り囲んで言った、「いつまでわたしたちを不安のままにしておくのか。あなたがキリストであるなら、そうとはっきり言っていただきたい」。
25Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father's name, these bear witness of me.
25イエスは彼らに答えられた、「わたしは話したのだが、あなたがたは信じようとしない。わたしの父の名によってしているすべてのわざが、わたしのことをあかししている。
26But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep.
26あなたがたが信じないのは、わたしの羊でないからである。
27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
27わたしの羊はわたしの声に聞き従う。わたしは彼らを知っており、彼らはわたしについて来る。
28and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.
28わたしは、彼らに永遠の命を与える。だから、彼らはいつまでも滅びることがなく、また、彼らをわたしの手から奪い去る者はない。
29My Father, who hath given [them] unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father's hand.
29わたしの父がわたしに下さったものは、すべてにまさるものである。そしてだれも父のみ手から、それを奪い取ることはできない。
30I and the Father are one.
30わたしと父とは一つである」。
31The Jews took up stones again to stone him.
31そこでユダヤ人たちは、イエスを打ち殺そうとして、また石を取りあげた。
32Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from the Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
32するとイエスは彼らに答えられた、「わたしは、父による多くのよいわざを、あなたがたに示した。その中のどのわざのために、わたしを石で打ち殺そうとするのか」。
33The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
33ユダヤ人たちは答えた、「あなたを石で殺そうとするのは、よいわざをしたからではなく、神を汚したからである。また、あなたは人間であるのに、自分を神としているからである」。
34Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, ye are gods?
34イエスは彼らに答えられた、「あなたがたの律法に、『わたしは言う、あなたがたは神々である』と書いてあるではないか。
35If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken),
35神の言を託された人々が、神々といわれておるとすれば、（そして聖書の言は、すたることがあり得ない）
36say ye of him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am [the] Son of God?
36父が聖別して、世につかわされた者が、『わたしは神の子である』と言ったからとて、どうして『あなたは神を汚す者だ』と言うのか。
37If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
37もしわたしが父のわざを行わないとすれば、わたしを信じなくてもよい。
38But if I do them, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.
38しかし、もし行っているなら、たといわたしを信じなくても、わたしのわざを信じるがよい。そうすれば、父がわたしにおり、また、わたしが父におることを知って悟るであろう」。
39They sought again to take him: and he went forth out of their hand.
39そこで、彼らはまたイエスを捕えようとしたが、イエスは彼らの手をのがれて、去って行かれた。
40And he went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was at the first baptizing; and there be abode.
40さて、イエスはまたヨルダンの向こう岸、すなわち、ヨハネが初めにバプテスマを授けていた所に行き、そこに滞在しておられた。
41And many came unto him; and they said, John indeed did no sign: but all things whatsoever John spake of this man were true.
41多くの人々がイエスのところにきて、互に言った、「ヨハネはなんのしるしも行わなかったが、ヨハネがこのかたについて言ったことは、皆ほんとうであった」。そして、そこで多くの者がイエスを信じた。
42And many believed on him there.
42そして、そこで多くの者がイエスを信じた。
