¹When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, Consider diligently him that is before thee;

¹မင်းနှင့်အတူထိုင်၍ စားသောက်သောအခါ သင့်ရှေ့မှာ အဘယ်သူရှိသည်ကို စေ့စေ့ဆင်ခြင်လော့။

²And put a knife to thy throat, If thou be a man given to appetite.

²သင်သည် စားကြူးတတ်သောသူဖြစ်လျှင်၊ သင်၏လည်ချောင်းကို ထားနှင့်ရွယ်လော့။

³Be not desirous of his dainties; Seeing they are deceitful food.

³ထိုမင်း၏ခဲဘွယ်စားဘွယ်တို့ကို အလိုမရှိနှင့်။ လှည့်စားတတ်သောအစာဖြစ်၏။

⁴Weary not thyself to be rich; Cease from thine own wisdom.

⁴ငွေရတတ် ခြင်းငှါ မကြိုးစားနှင့်။ ကိုယ်ဥာဏ်ကို အမှီမပြုနှင့်။

⁵Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For [riches] certainly make themselves wings, Like an eagle that flieth toward heaven.

⁵ပျောက်တတ်သောအရာကို စေ့စေ့မျက်မှောက် ပြုသင့်သလော။ အကယ်စင်စစ် ရွှေလင်းတသည် မိုဃ်းကောင်းကင်သို့ ပျံတတ်သကဲ့သို့၊ ထိုအရာသည် အတောင်တို့ကို လုပ်၍ပျံသွားတတ်၏။

⁶Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, Neither desire thou his dainties:

⁶မနာလိုသောသူ၏ အစာကိုမစားနှင့်။ သူ၏ ခဲဘွယ်စားဘွယ်ကို အလိုမရှိနှင့်။

⁷For as he thinketh within himself, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; But his heart is not with thee.

⁷သူသည် စိတ်ထင်သည်အတိုင်းဖြစ်၏။ စား သောက်တော့ဟု ဆိုသော်လည်း စေတနာစိတ်မရှိ။

⁸The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, And lose thy sweet words.

⁸သင်သည် စားသောအစာကို တဖန်အန်ရ လိမ့်မည်။ သင်ချိုသော စကားလည်းယိုယွင်းလိမ့်မည်။

⁹Speak not in the hearing of a fool; For he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

⁹မိုက်သောသူကြားအောင် စကားမပြောနှင့်။ သင်၏စကား၌ ပါသောပညာကို မထီမဲ့မြင်ပြုလိမ့်မည်။

¹⁰Remove not the ancient landmark; And enter not into the fields of the fatherless:

¹⁰အရိပ်စိုက်သော မြေမှတ်တိုင်ကိုမရွှေ့နှင့်။ မိဘမရှိသော သူတို့၏ လယ်ကိုမသိမ်းနှင့်။

¹¹For their Redeemer is strong; He will plead their cause against thee.

¹¹အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ထိုသူတို့ကို ရွေးတော်မူသော သူသည် တန်ခိုးကြီး၍၊ သင့်တဘက်၌ သူတို့အမှုကို စောင့်တော်မူလိမ့်မည်။

¹²Apply thy heart unto instruction, And thine ears to the words of knowledge.

¹²ဆုံးမဩဝါဒ၌ စိတ်နှလုံးစွဲလမ်း၍၊ ပညာ အတတ် စကားကို နာခံလော့။

¹³Withhold not correction from the child; [For] if thou beat him with the rod, he will not die.

¹³သူငယ်ကို မဆုံးမဘဲမနေနှင့်။ ကြိမ်လုံးနှင့်ရိုက် သော်လည်း သူသည် မသေ။

¹⁴Thou shalt beat him with the rod, And shalt deliver his soul from Sheol.

¹⁴ကြိမ်လုံးနှင့်ရိုက်၍ သူ၏အသက်ဝိညာဉ်ကို မရဏနိုင်ငံမှ ကယ်နှုတ်ရမည်။

¹⁵My son, if thy heart be wise, My heart will be glad, even mine:

¹⁵ငါ့သား၊ သင့်နှလုံး၌ပညာရှိလျှင် ငါ့နှလုံးနှင့် ငါ့ကိုယ်တိုင်သည် ဝမ်းမြောက်လိမ့်မည်။

¹⁶Yea, my heart will rejoice, When thy lips speak right things.

¹⁶သင့်နှုတ်သည် မှန်သောစကားကို ပြောသော အခါ၊ ငါ့ကျောက်ကပ်ရွှင်လန်းလိမ့်မည်။

¹⁷Let not thy heart envy sinners; But [be thou] in the fear of Jehovah all the day long:

¹⁷အပြစ်ထင်ရှားသော သူတို့ကို ငြူစူသော စိတ်မရှိစေနှင့်။ တနေ့လုံးထာဝရဘုရားကို ကြောက်ရွံ့ သောသဘော ရှိစေလော့။

¹⁸For surely there is a reward; And thy hope shall not be cut off.

¹⁸အကယ်စင်စစ် အမှုဆုံးဖြတ်ချိန်သည် ရောက် လိမ့်မည်။ သင့်မြော်လင့်ခြင်းအကြောင်း မပျက်ရာ။

¹⁹Hear thou, my son, and be wise, And guide thy heart in the way.

¹⁹ငါ့သား၊ ငါ့စကားကို နားထောင်၍ ပညာရှိသ ဖြင့်၊ ကိုယ်စိတ်နှလုံးကို လမ်းမ၌ပဲ့ပြင်လော့။

²⁰Be not among winebibbers, Among gluttonous eaters of flesh:

²⁰စပျစ်ရည်သောက်ကြူးသောသူ၊ အမဲသားစား ကြူးသော သူတို့ကို အပေါင်းအဘော်မလုပ်နှင့်။

²¹For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty; And drowsiness will clothe [a man] with rags.

²¹သောက်ကြူးသောသူနှင့် စားကြူးသောသူသည် ဆင်းရဲခြင်းသို့ ရောက်လိမ့်မည်။ အိပ်ကြူးသော သဘော သည် လူကိုအဝတ်စုတ်နှင့် ခြုံတတ်၏။

²²Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, And despise not thy mother when she is old.

²²သင့်ကိုဖြစ်ဘွားစေသောအဘ၏ စကားကို နားထောင်လော့။ အသက်ကြီးသော အမိကို မထီမဲ့မြင် မပြုနှင့်။

²³Buy the truth, and sell it not; [Yea], wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

²³သမ္မာတရားကို ဝယ်လော့။ မရောင်းနှင့်။ ပညာ ကို၎င်း၊ ဆုံးမဩဝါဒကို၎င်း၊ ဥာဏ်သတ္တိကို၎င်း ထိုအတူ ပြုလော့။

²⁴The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; And he that begetteth a wise child will have joy of him.

²⁴ဖြောင့်မတ်သောသူ၏အဘသည် အလွန်ဝမ်း မြောက်လိမ့်မည်။ ပညာရှိသော သားကို ဖြစ်ဘွားစေသော သူသည် ထိုသား၌ အားရဝမ်းမြောက်လိမ့်မည်။

²⁵Let thy father and thy mother be glad, And let her that bare thee rejoice.

²⁵သင်၏မိဘတို့သည်ဝမ်းမြောက်၍၊ သင့်ကို မွေးဘွားသောသူသည် ရွှင်လန်းလိမ့်မည်။

²⁶My son, give me thy heart; And let thine eyes delight in my ways.

²⁶ငါ့သား၊ သင့်နှလုံးကို ငါ့အားပေးလော့။ သင့် မျက်စိတို့သည် ငါသွားသောလမ်းကို ကြည့်မှတ်ပါစေ။

²⁷For a harlot is a deep ditch; And a foreign woman is a narrow pit.

²⁷ပြည်တန်ဆာမသည် နက်သောကျုံးကဲ့သို့၎င်း၊ အမျိုးပျက်သော မိန်းမသည် ကျဉ်းသော မြေတွင်းကဲ့သို့ ၎င်း ဖြစ်၏။

²⁸Yea, she lieth in wait as a robber, And increaseth the treacherous among men.

²⁸သူသည် ထားပြကဲ့သို့ ချောင်းကြည့်တတ်၏။ လွန်ကျူးသော ယောက်ျားများပြားစေခြင်းငှါ ပြုတတ်၏။

²⁹Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? Who hath complaining? who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes?

²⁹အဘယ်သူသည် ဝမ်းနည်းခြင်းရှိသနည်း။ အဘယ်သူသည် ညည်းတွားခြင်းရှိသနည်း။ အဘယ် သူသည် ရန်တွေ့ခြင်းရှိသနည်း။ အဘယ်သည် မြည် တမ်းခြင်းရှိသနည်း။ အဘယ်သူသည် အကျိုးအကြောင်း မရှိ၊ ထိခိုက်၍ နာခြင်းရှိသနည်း။ အဘယ်သူသည် မျက်စိနီခြင်းရှိသနည်း ဟူမူကား၊

³⁰They that tarry long at the wine; They that go to seek out mixed wine.

³⁰စပျစ်ရည်ကို ကြာမြင့်စွာ သောက်လျက်နေ သောသူ၊ ဆေးနှင့်ရောသော စပျစ်ရည်ကို ရှာတတ်သော သူတို့သည် ထိုသို့သော လက္ခဏာရှိကြ၏။

³¹Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, When it sparkleth in the cup, When it goeth down smoothly:

³¹ဖလား၌နီလျက်၊ အရောင်တောက်လျက်၊ အချိုအမြိန်ဝင်လျက်ရှိသော စပျစ်ရည်ကို မကြည့်မရှုနှင့်။

³²At the last it biteth like a serpent, And stingeth like an adder.

³²နောက်ဆုံး၌ မြွေကဲ့သို့ကိုက်တတ်၏။ မြွေဆိုး ကဲ့သို့ နာစေတတ်၏။

³³Thine eyes shall behold strange things, And thy heart shall utter perverse things.

³³သင့်မျက်စိတို့သည် အမျိုးပျက်သောမိန်းမတို့ကို ကြည့်ရှု၍၊ သင့်နှလုံးသည်လည်း ကောက်သော စကားကို မြွက်ဆိုလိမ့်မည်။

³⁴Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, Or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.

³⁴အကယ်စင်စစ် သင်သည် ပင်လယ်အလယ်၌ အိပ်သောသူ၊ သင်္ဘောရွက်တိုင်ဖျားပေါ်မှာ အိပ်သော သူကဲ့သို့ ဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်။

³⁵They have stricken me, [shalt thou say], and I was not hurt; They have beaten me, and I felt it not: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

³⁵သူတို့သည် ငါ့ကိုရိုက်ကြပြီ။ သို့သော်လည်း ငါမနာ။ ငါ့ကိုထိုးကြသော်လည်း ငါမသိ။ အဘယ်အချိန် မှ ငါနိုးရမည်နည်း။ တဖန်ငါရှာ ဦးမည်ဟု သင်ဆိုလိမ့် သတည်း။
