¹Let a man so account of us, as of ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

¹Nech tak myslí o nás človek ako o služobníkoch Kristových a o správcoch tajomstiev Božích.

²Here, moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

²Tu ostatne sa vyhľadáva u správcov, aby bol ktosi najdený verný.

³But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

³A mne je to najmenším, aby som bol vami súdený alebo ľudským súdom. Ale ani sám seba nesúdim,

⁴For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

⁴lebo nie som si ničoho povedomý, ale tým nie som ospravedlnený; no, ten, kto ma súdi, je Pán.

⁵Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.

⁵A tak nesúďte ničoho pred časom, dokiaľ neprijde Pán, ktorý aj osvieti skryté veci tmy a zjaví úmysly sŕdc, a vtedy bude mať jeden každý chválu od Boha.

⁶Now these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes; that in us ye might learn not [to go] beyond the things which are written; that no one of you be puffed up for the one against the other.

⁶Ale toto, bratia, som povedal v podobenstve vzťahom na seba a na Apolla, pre vás, aby ste sa na nás učili nemyslieť nad to, čo je napísané, aby ste sa nenadúvali jeden za druhého proti inému.

⁷For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? but if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received it?

⁷Lebo kto ťa robí rozdielnym od iného? A čo máš, čo by si nebol dostal? A jestli si aj dostal, prečo sa chváliš, ako keby si nebol dostal?

⁸Already are ye filled, already ye are become rich, ye have come to reign without us: yea and I would that ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

⁸Už ste nasýtení, už ste zbohatli, bez nás kraľujete, a bárs by ste len kraľovali, aby sme aj my s vami spolu kraľovali.

⁹For, I think, God hath set forth us the apostles last of all, as men doomed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, both to angels and men.

⁹Lebo mám za to, že nás apoštolov vykázal Bôh za najposlednejších, na odiv, ako oddaných na smrť, lebo sme sa stali divadlom svetu i anjelom i ľuďom.

¹⁰We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye have glory, but we have dishonor.

¹⁰My blázni pre Krista, a vy rozumní v Kristu; my slabí, a vy silní; vy slávni a my takí, ktorí nemajú cti.

¹¹Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place;

¹¹Až do tejto hodiny i lačnieme i žíznime i nahí sme i pohlavkovaní sme i miesta nikde nemáme

¹²and we toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;

¹²i namáhame sa robiac vlastnými rukami; nadávajú nám, dobrorečíme; prenasledujú nás, znášame;

¹³being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things, even until now.

¹³rúhajú sa nám, prosíme. Sme jako smeti sveta, všetkým za povrheľ až doteraz.

¹⁴I write not these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

¹⁴Nepíšem tohoto nato, aby som vás zahanbil, ale napomínam ako svoje milované deti.

¹⁵For though ye have ten thousand tutors in Christ, yet [have ye] not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I begat you through the gospel.

¹⁵Lebo keby ste mali hneď desať tisíc pestúnov v Kristu, ale nemôžete mať mnoho otcov, lebo ja som vás splodil v Kristu Ježišovi skrze evanjelium.

¹⁶I beseech you therefore, be ye imitators of me.

¹⁶A tedy vás prosím, nasledujte mňa.

¹⁷For this cause have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who shall put you in remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every church.

¹⁷Preto som vám poslal Timotea, ktorý je mojím milovaným dieťaťom a verným v Pánovi, ktorý vás upomenie na moje cesty v Kristu Ježišovi, jako učím všade v každom sbore.

¹⁸Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.

¹⁸Ale jako keby som nemal prijsť k vám, naduli sa niektorí.

¹⁹But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will; and I will know, not the word of them that are puffed up, but the power.

¹⁹Avšak prijdem k vám skoro, ak bude Pán chcieť, a poznám, nie slovo tých nadutých, ale moc.

²⁰For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

²⁰Lebo kráľovstvo Božie nezáleží v slove, ale v moci.

²¹What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?

²¹Čo chcete? Či aby som k vám prišiel s palicou a či s láskou a v duchu tichosti?
