¹This is the third time I am coming to you. At the mouth of two witnesses or three shall every word established.

¹Toto po tretie idem k vám. Na ústach dvoch svedkov a troch bude stáť každé slovo.

²I have said beforehand, and I do say beforehand, as when I was present the second time, so now, being absent, to them that have sinned heretofore, and to all the rest, that, if I come again, I will not spare;

²Povedal som už vopred a vopred hovorím, ako keď som bol prítomný druhý krát, i teraz súc neprítomný píšem tým, ktorí prv hrešili, aj ostatným všetkým, že keď zase prijdem, nebudem šetriť.

³seeing that ye seek a proof of Christ that speaketh in me; who to you-ward is not weak, but is powerful in you:

³Keďže hľadáte dokázanosť vo mne hovoriaceho, Krista, ktorý nie je slabý voči vám, ale je mocný medzi vami.

⁴for he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth through the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him through the power of God toward you.

⁴Lebo jestli aj bol ukrižovaný zo slabosti, ale žije z moci Božej. Lebo aj my sme slabí v ňom, ale budeme žiť s ním z moci Božej cieľom vás.

⁵Try your own selves, whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves. Or know ye not as to your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you? unless indeed ye be reprobate.

⁵Sami seba zkúmajte, či ste vo viere, seba zkúšajte. Alebo či sami seba neznáte, že Ježiš Kristus je vo vás? Iba ak by ste sa boli nedokázali.

⁶But I hope that ye shall know that we are not reprobate.

⁶Ale nadejem sa, že poznáte, že my nie sme nedokázaní.

⁷Now we pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we may appear approved, but that ye may do that which is honorable, though we be as reprobate.

⁷No modlím(e) sa Bohu, žeby ste nevykonali ničoho zlého, nie preto, aby sme sa my videli dokázanými, ale aby ste vy robili to, čo je dobré, a my aby sme boli jako takí, ktorí sa nedokázali.

⁸For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

⁸Lebo nemôžeme ničoho proti pravde, ale za pravdu.

⁹For we rejoice, when we are weak, and ye are strong: this we also pray for, even your perfecting.

⁹Lebo sa radujeme, že keď aj sme my slabí, ale vy ste mocní. A za to sa i modlíme, totiž aby ste vy boli dokonalí.

¹⁰For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not when present deal sharply, according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up, and not for casting down.

¹⁰Preto píšem toto súc neprítomný, aby som potom prítomný nepoužil prísnosti podľa moci, ktorú mi dal Pán na budovanie a nie na borenie.

¹¹Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfected; be comforted; be of the same mind; live in peace: and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

¹¹Ostatne, bratia, radujte sa, majte sa dobre, zdokonaľujte sa, potešujte sa, na jedno a na to isté myslite, majte pokoj! A Bôh lásky a pokoja bude s vami.

¹²Salute one another with a holy kiss.

¹²Pozdravujte sa navzájom svätým bozkom. Pozdravujú vás všetci svätí.

¹³All the saints salute you.

¹³Milosť Pána Ježiša Krista a láska Božia a účastenstvo Svätého Ducha nech je so všetkými vami! Ameň.

¹⁴The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
