1I charge [thee] in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:
1Tedy ja osvedčujem pred Bohom a pred Pánom Ježišom Kristom, ktorý má súdiť živých i mŕtvych za svojho príchodu a za svojho kráľovstva:
2preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
2Káž slovo, pristupuj v pravý i nepravý čas, karhaj, tresci, napomínaj s celou zhovievavosťou a s učením.
3For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts;
3Lebo bude čas, keď neznesú zdravého učenia, ale podľa vlastných žiadostí budú si hromadiť učiteľov, lebo ich budú svrbieť uši,
4and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables.
4a odvrátia uši od pravdy a obrátia sa k bájkam.
5But be thou sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry.
5Ale ty buď triezvy vo všetkom trp, čo prijde zlé, konaj dielo evanjelistu, vykonaj svoju službu.
6For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure is come.
6Lebo ja som už po kuse obetovaný liatou obeťou a čas môjho odchodu sa už dostanovil.
7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith:
7Bojoval som dobrý boj, beh som dokonal, vieru som zachoval.
8henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all them that have loved his appearing.
8Za týmto už mi je odložená koruna spravedlivosti, ktorú mi dá Pán odplatou v ten deň, on, ten spravedlivý sudca, a nie len mne, ale aj všetkým, ktorí milujú jeho príchod.
9Give diligence to come shortly unto me:
9Usiluj sa, aby si skoro prišiel za mnou.
10for Demas forsook me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
10Lebo Démas ma opustil zamilujúc si terajší svet a išiel do Tesaloniky, Krescens do Galácie, Títus do Dalmácie.

11Lukáš je samotný so mnou. Marka pojmi a doveď so sebou, lebo mi je veľmi užitočný k službe.

13Plášť, ktorý som nechal v Troade u Karpa, vezmi, keď pojdeš sem, aj knihy, najmä pergament.
14Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord will render to him according to his works:
14Kotlár Alexander mi spôsobil mnoho zlého. Nech mu doplatí Pán podľa jeho skutkov,
15of whom do thou also beware; for he greatly withstood our words.
15ktorého sa aj ty vystríhaj, lebo sa veľmi protivil našim slovám.
16At my first defence no one took my part, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their account.
16Pri mojej prvej obrane nebol nikto so mnou, ale ma všetci opustili. Nech im to neni počítané.
17But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might me fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
17Ale Pán stál pri mne a posilnil ma, aby mnou bola plne vykonaná kázeň evanjelia, a aby ho počuly všetky národy, a bol som vytrhnutý z tlamy ľva,
18The Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will save me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom [be] the glory forever and ever. Amen.
18aj ma vytrhne Pán a zachová od každého skutku zlého a zachráni a uvedie do svojho nebeského kráľovstva, ktorému sláva na veky vekov. Ameň.
