¹Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

²To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ [that are] at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.

²svätým a verným bratom v Kristu Ježišovi, ktorí sú v Kolosách: milosť vám a pokoj od Boha, nášho Otca, a od Pána Ježiša Krista.

³We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

³Ďakujeme Bohu a Otcovi nášho Pána Ježiša Krista vždycky sa za vás modliac,

⁴having heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have toward all the saints,

⁴počujúc o vašej viere v Kristu Ježišovi a o láske, ktorú máte naproti všetkým svätým,

⁵because of the hope which is laid up for you in the heavens, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,

⁵pre nádej, ktorá vám leží odložená v nebesiach, o ktorej ste prv počuli v slove pravdy evanjelia,

⁶which is come unto you; even as it is also in all the world bearing fruit and increasing, as [it doth] in you also, since the day ye heard and knew the grace of God in truth;

⁶ktoré prišlo k vám, ako aj je na celom svete a nesie ovocie a rastie ako aj u vás odo dňa, ktorého ste počuli a poznali milosť Božiu v pravde,

⁷even as ye learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow-servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,

⁷jako ste sa aj naučili od Epafra, nášho milovaného spolusluhu, ktorý je verným služobníkom Kristovým za vás,

⁸who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.

⁸ktorý nám aj oznámil vašu lásku v Duchu.

⁹For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray and make request for you, that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

⁹Preto aj my odo dňa, ktorého sme to počuli, neprestávame modliť sa za vás a prosiť, žeby ste boli naplnení čo do známosti jeho vôle všetkou múdrosťou a rozumnosťou duchovnou,

¹⁰to walk worthily of the Lord unto all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

¹⁰žeby ste chodili hodne Pána, aby ste sa mu vo všetkom ľúbili nesúc ovocie v každom skutku dobrom a rastúc v známosť Boha,

¹¹strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, unto all patience and longsuffering with joy;

¹¹zmocňovaní každou mocou podľa sily jeho slávy ku všetkej trpezlivosti a zhovievavosti s radosťou,

¹²giving thanks unto the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;

¹²ďakujúc Otcovi, ktorý nás učinil schopných k podielu na lose svätých vo svetle,

¹³who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love;

¹³ktorý nás vytrhnul z moci temnosti a premiestnil do kráľovstva Syna svojej lásky,

¹⁴in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins:

¹⁴v ktorom máme vykúpenie skrze jeho krv, odpustenie hriechov,

¹⁵who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;

¹⁵ktorý je obrazom neviditeľného Boha, prvorodený všetkého stvorenstva;

¹⁶for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him;

¹⁶lebo v ňom je stvorené všetko, všetko, čo je v nebesiach i čo je na zemi, viditeľné i neviditeľné, buď tróny buď panstvá buď kniežatstvá buď vrchnosti, to všetko je stvorené skrze neho a cieľom neho,

¹⁷and he is before all things, and in him all things consist.

¹⁷a on je predo všetkým, a všetko v ňom povstalo a stojí,

¹⁸And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

¹⁸a on je hlavou tela, cirkvi, ktorý je počiatkom, prvorodeným z mŕtvych, aby on bol vo všetkom prvý.

¹⁹For it was the good pleasure [of the Father] that in him should all the fulness dwell;

¹⁹Lebo sa zaľúbilo Otcovi, aby v ňom prebývala všetka plnosť,

²⁰and through him to reconcile all things unto himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, [I say], whether things upon the earth, or things in the heavens.

²⁰a aby skrze neho smieril všetko cieľom neho urobiac pokoj skrze krv jeho kríža, skrze neho, buď to, čo je na zemi, buď to, čo je v nebesiach,

²¹And you, being in time past alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil works,

²¹i vás, ktorí ste boli kedysi odcudzení a nepriateľmi mysľou v zlých skutkoch; ale teraz vás smieril

²²yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and unreproveable before him:

²²v jeho ľudskom tele skrze smrť, aby vás postavil svätých, bezvadných a bezúhonných pred ním,

²³if so be that ye continue in the faith, grounded and stedfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel which ye heard, which was preached in all creation under heaven; whereof I Paul was made a minister.

²³akže trváte založení na viere a pevní a neuchyľujúci sa od nádeje evanjelia, ktoré ste počuli, a ktoré sa zvestuje každému stvoreniu, ktoré je pod nebom, ktorého evanjelia som sa ja Pavel stal služobníkom,

²⁴Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church;

²⁴ktorý sa teraz radujem vo svojich utrpeniach za vás a doplňujem nedostatky súžení Kristových na svojom ľudskom tele za jeho telo, ktorým je cirkev,

²⁵whereof I was made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which was given me to you-ward, to fulfil the word of God,

²⁵ktorej som sa ja stal služobníkom podľa domosprávy Božej, ktorá mi je daná cieľom vás naplniť slovo Božie,

²⁶[even] the mystery which hath been hid for ages and generations: but now hath it been manifested to his saints,

²⁶tajomstvo, skryté od vekov a od dávnych pokolení, ale teraz je zjavené jeho svätým,

²⁷to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

²⁷ktorým Bôh ráčil oznámiť, čo a jaké je bohatstvo slávy toho tajomstva medzi pohanmi, ktorým je Kristus vo vás, nádeja slávy,

²⁸whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ;

²⁸ktorého my zvestujeme upravujúc každého človeka k rozumnosti a učiac každého človeka vo všetkej múdrosti, aby sme predstavili každého človeka dokonalého v Kristu Ježišovi,

²⁹whereunto I labor also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

²⁹a tým cieľom aj úsilne pracujem zápasiac podľa jeho pôsobenia, ktoré pôsobí vo mne v moci.
