¹And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of Jehovah came unto Zechariah in the fourth [day] of the ninth month, even in Chislev.

¹A bolo štvrtého roku kráľa Dária, že sa stalo slovo Hospodinovo k Zachariášovi štvrtého dňa, deviateho mesiaca, mesiaca kisleva.

²Now [they of] Beth-el had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to entreat the favor of Jehovah,

²Vtedy poslal Bét-el Šarecera a Regem-melecha i svojich mužov modliť sa pred tvárou Hospodinovou a upokojiť ju

³[and] to speak unto the priests of the house of Jehovah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

³a aby povedali kňazom, ktorí boli pre dom Hospodina Zástupov, a prorokom: Či mám plakať piateho mesiaca zdržujúc sa nazarejsky, jako som činil toto už toľko rokov?

⁴Then came the word of Jehovah of hosts unto me, saying,

⁴A stalo sa slovo Hospodina Zástupov ku mne povediac:

⁵Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh [month], even these seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

⁵Povedz všetkému ľudu zeme i kňazom a vrav: Keď ste sa postievali a smútili ste piateho a siedmeho mesiaca, a to už sedemdesiat rokov, či ste sa to azda mne postili?

⁶And when ye eat, and when ye drink, do not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

⁶Alebo keď jete a keď pijete, či to nejete vy a nepijete vy?

⁷[Should ye] not [hear] the words which Jehovah cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?

⁷Či tu nejde o slová, ktoré hlásal Hospodin skrze drievnych prorokov, keď ešte bol Jeruzalem obývaný a mal pokoj i jeho mestá vôkol neho, a keď tak býval i juh i rovina?

⁸And the word of Jehovah came unto Zechariah, saying,

⁸A stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo k Zachariášovi povediac:

⁹Thus hath Jehovah of hosts spoken, saying, Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother;

⁹Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Súďte súd podľa pravdy a majte milosrdenstvo a zľutovanie; to čiňte každý so svojím bratom.

¹⁰and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the sojourner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.

¹⁰A neutiskujte vdovy a siroty, pohostína a chudobného a nemyslite nikto zlého na svojho brata vo svojom srdci.

¹¹But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.

¹¹Avšak nechceli pozorovať ušami, ale dali spurné plece a obťažili svoje uši, aby nepočuli;

¹²Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which Jehovah of hosts had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets: therefore there came great wrath from Jehovah of hosts.

¹²urobili svoje srdce jako hrot diamantu, aby nepočuli zákona ani slov, ktoré posielal Hospodin Zástupov svojím Duchom skrze drievnych prorokov, a preto povstal veľký hnev, vyšlý od Hospodina Zástupov.

¹³And it is come to pass that, as he cried, and they would not hear, so they shall cry, and I will not hear, said Jehovah of hosts;

¹³A stalo sa, že jako keď on volal, a oni nepočuli, tak potom, oni volali, ale som nepočul, hovorí Hospodin Zástupov.

¹⁴but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

¹⁴A rozptýlil som ich víchricou na všetky národy, ktorých neznali, a zem spustla po nich, takže nebolo toho, kto by bol prešiel cez ňu alebo sa vrátil, a tak obrátili rozkošnú a žiadúcnu zem na púšť.
